המורדים החות׳ים בתימן פועלים מטעם המשטר האירני מעל לעשור. מיעוט זה השתלט למעשה על תימן ומתפרנס מהצקה שיטתית ומתמשכת לאויביה של המדינה האיסלמית - תחילה היו אלה איחוד האמירויות וערב הסעודית, כיום, נתיב השייט הבינלאומי העובר במצרי באב אל מנדב נמצא על הכוונת, בטענה שהתנועה בו מיועדת לישראל. החותים תוקפים את הספינות האזרחיות בכל נשק שידם משגת - כלי שייט לא מאויישים, טילי שיוט, כלי טייס לא מאויישים, טילי ים-ים וטילים בליסטיים. הצי האמריקאי החמישי בשיתוף כוחות ימיים מכמה ממדינות אירופה עושים מאמץ ניכר כדי לאבטח את התנועה הימית. מרבית התקיפות על ספינות הצי נבלמות, אך חלק ניכר מהתקיפות של האוניות האזרחיות מצליחות. על-כן, מרבית חברות ההובלה הימית בחרו לעקוף את הבעיה ולהפליג סביב אפריקה, תוך ייקור עלויות ההובלה הימית. The Weekly DefenseTech Brief is published by Defense-Update

החותים בתימן נכנסו למלחמה הרב זירתית נגד ישראל כבר בשלבים הראשונים של הלחימה. נראה כי הם להוטים להשתתף בלחימה הרבה יותר מהלבנונים. עד כה ישראל הצליחה להדוף תקיפות טילים מתימן אך היא מתקשה יותר להגיב על הפגיעה המכוונת בכלי שייט המשוייכים אליה (גם כאלה שמתוכננים לעגון בנמלים הישראל). ישראל דורשת תגובה בינלאומית על הפגיעה בנתיבי הסחר. אמנם ספינות קרב של כוח המשימה 151 הפועל במרחב מסיעות להגן על ספינות הסוחר העוברות במיצרים, אך עד כה הגנה זו לא מרתיעה את החותים והאזור יגיע ככל הנראה לרתיחה ככל שהפעולה בעזה תתמשך.  The Weekly DefenseTech Brief is published by Defense-Update

בשבוע שחלף מאז מתקפת הפתע שהכתה בנו בשבת שעברה עלו לרשת סרטונים רבים שבהן הוצגו שיטות תקיפה חדישות אשר שימשו את ארגון הטרור חמאס במתקפת הפתע שערך על מערך ההגנה המדולל של צה״ל לאורך גדר הגבול ברצועת עזה. במתקפה זו שולבה פריצה של חומת המגן והגדר בנקודות רבות, תקיפת מערכות ׳רואה יורה׳ במטרה לאפשר התקרבות מחבלים לגדר, השמדת מערך התצפית והתקשורת לאורך הקו, תקיפות מדויקות ויעילות של טנקים, כולל שימוש ברחפנים שהטילו מטעני נ״ט, ואמצעים נוספים. כמוכן נראו בסרטונים מחבלים נושאים מכשירים שנראים כמו מכשירי קשר צבאיים תקניים או ציוד לוחמה אלקטרונית לשיבוש התקשורת הישראלית. הכל מראה על תחכום גבוה בהרבה מהרמה שיכולים מהנדסי חמאס להשיג בכוחות עצמם, וקרוב מאוד ליכולות שנמצאות בידי מדינה בעלת תעשיות צבאיות מתקדמות כמו איראן. בנושא כואב אך חשוב זה אנו דנים בפרק זה. בתמונה נראית הטלת חימוש נ״ט מרחפן של החמאס, על טנק מרכבה. החימוש נראה כמו מטען צד תקני (מטען חלול קוני) שהותאם לשימוש אווירי.The Weekly DefenseTech Brief is published by Defense-Update
