S4E23: Joe Gage / Kansas City Trucking Co. / Richard Locke
Send us Fan MailThe late 1970s were an representational awakening for homosexual men. They began to embrace a new vision of themselves as hyper masculine. The rise of the clone look and of bars that catered to them helped push forward this new gay masculinity, but porn took it to the rest of the country and the man who bridged the old world of the closeted straight man and the new gay masculine sexuality was filmmaker Joe Gage. The Road movie as a cinematic genre emerged after world war 2 and reflected both the advent of the automobile as a fundamental expression of individualism. And the emergence of a mobile young suburban population looking for adventure. The combination of these elements plus the exploration of male sexual desire among working class and rural men were brought together by Joe Gage in his Working Man Trilogy. Often called the OG Daddy of Gay Porn, Richard Locke, burst onto the gay erotic film scene in 1974 and quickly became a fixture among gay men who were into the rugged and sexy male look that differed from the clone look depicted in films made in California. But Locke was more of a renaissance man all rolled into one human. In this episode, we are going to celebrate Joe Gage aka Tim Kincaid, his film Kansas City Trucking Co. and Richard Locke. But just who was the director of the 1972 gay erotic film Greek Lightning? Robert Walters? Ken Albert? Robert Stephens? S4E17: Peter De Rome / The Destroying Angel / Will Seagers
Send us Fan MailHow did an expatriate eccentric Englishman armed with a video camera become the Grandfather of Gay Porn? Peter De Rome, whose erotic films were made at a time when doing so was incredibly dangerous and would later gain recognition in the 70’s by Jack Deveau and then again some 40 years later with a new generation. The story behind Peter De Rome’s The Destroying Angel came to be when De Rome noticed that by the mid 70s many subjects were tackled by the gay erotic film except for horror. At that same time, DeRome had wanted to make a film that had been lingering in his mind about twins. What De Rome ended up making was a psychosexual, horror film that bends so many genres. Will Seagers appeared in some of the most iconic gay porn films of all time, working with other legendary talent and filmmakers. He was stunning, having come into his looks in his 20’s and becoming the quintessential 1970’s man, everyone lusted over. S4E15: Jack Deveau/Left-Handed/Wade Nichols
Send us Fan MailJack Deveau has been called the master of narrative gay porn. During the 1970’s he molded moody stories that were filled with hot sex and sociopolitical messages and heavily plotted films that still resonate today. Deveau, along with his lover and business partner Robert Alvarez presided over one of the most well-regraded studios of the day, Hand in Hand, that shot and distributed gay erotic movies. And though many have said the best of these films is A Night at The Adonis, it is his inaugural film, Left-Handed that is in my eyes the perfect combination of experimental meets story and some steamy sex scenes. Wade Nichols emerged onto the screen during the 1970’s golden age of adult cinema and was one of the last true matinees idols. He was handsome and talented; a different breed of supermen of the day who would become a singer and soap star. In this episode, we will celebrate Jack Deveau, his film Left-Handed and Wade Nichols. S4E14: Roger Earl / Born To Raise Hell / Val Martin
Send us Fan MailRoger Earl was a documentarian who managed to capture intense BDSM and kink sessions in some of the truest forms of erotic cinema verité, often polarizing and definitely shocking viewers. Earl’s Born to Raise Hell was made at the same time as the other gay landmark films. However, this film’s focus is primarily on gay male sadomasochistic practices and mostly devoid of any traces of tenderness or romance. Val Martin was a fixture in the middle of the golden era of gay porn, starring in various films that teetered on S&M. In the BDSM subsection, Val Martin was a god. In this episode, we will celebrate Roger Earl, a documentarian of BDSM and gay erotic films who strategically planned in preproduction to ensure realism the minute he yelled "Action." We will discuss his film, Born to Raise Hell, that echoes the experimental filmmaking techniques of the 60’s underground and It’s presentation of a sexual subculture where the experimentation lies. S4E9: Fred Halsted/L.A. Plays Itself/Joey Yale
Send us Fan MailPorn stars embody the sexual ideals of gay men. It is the porn star’s sexual performance that is the portal through which viewers engage with a pornographic movie. Director Fred Halsted considered hardcore porn a performer’s medium—as well as the cameraman’s. Halsted was in all senses a pornographer, but more an experimentalist who went on to make ambitious and experimental films that included some of the first visual examples of fisting and would garner critical acclaim for his work during his lifetime. L.A. Plays itself, his initial film is his grand opus. Although the film is not considered a masterpiece in any conventional way, it is beloved but Halsted fans and art critics and broke new ground while it the groundwork was being laid down in gay erotic cinema. Send us Fan MailOn this Open Lines episode of DGP, we are discussing puppy play, puppy hoods, wagging tails, barking and obedience. I am joined by two personal friends who sit down to tell me what attracted them to the culture of puppy play and why it is so damn popular. Puppy (or pup) play is a type of role-play behavior, in the outskirts of the BDSM community, in which adult humans adopt the characteristics of dogs. But just as with canines, there are hierarchies and roles. Spike, whom I've known for years, is a pup handler, a person who enjoys role-playing as someone who takes care of a pup. His fiancé, Strike, is an alpha pup, a more dominant pup among other pups or a pack setting. It sounds like a lot to wrap your head around but imagine taking a break from stresses of your life, clearing your mind, lowering your defenses and being taken care of. Oh and let's not forget an endless amount of attention, cuddling and treats! It is undeniable that there a psychological appeal that has attracted more people to puppy play and has also given its practice more attention. Listen and enjoy!Support the show

S4E4: Open Lines - Small Dick Fetish
Send us Fan MailA listener messaged me on Instagram telling me he gets turned on men by with small dicks. After speaking to him briefly, I was fascinated. I'm in an industry that absolutely idolizes men with huge dicks and sells them to their audience. There are sites that exist dedicated to men with small dicks, micro penis, etc... They exist however they are mostly humiliation or cuckold websites where a scene partner points, makes fun and degrades the subject. Here's Matt, a listener who had an encounter with man who kept telling him he had the smallest dick. When Matt didn't believe it could be that small, the man got fully hard, dropped his pants and showed him. In that moment something changed in Matt and he's been fantasizing about men wth small dicks since. How small? Listen and find out.Support the show

Summer Sessions Ep. 5 - The Larger Than Life King Dwarf!
Send us Fan MailIt was my pleasure to meet and interview King Dwarf, whose personality, along with, ahem, other appendages made him a star amongst content creators, fan sites and the twitter-sphere. We met at a dusty motel room in central New Jersey and shot the shit for about an hour about the growing pains early on in life. It wasn't until high school where although bullied, King Dwarf received a confidence boost when the guys in the locker room began to notice and admire his big dick! Then, one day after high school, he jumped onto Chatburbate turned on his camera whipped his dick out and started jerking off in front of curious viewers. It changed his life. From there, King Dwarf went on to being a Tumblr star before the sites ill-fated decision to move away from it’s money maker. Following that King Dwarf began to take nude photos, post on twitter and his now a fully-fledged adult content creator on fan sites. With his newly crowned notoriety in the adult entertainment industry King Dwarf has also found his family of friends that love and support him as well as a new love interest! From studio work to other ventures find out what’s next for King Dwarf all during this candid interview. Enjoy!Support the show

Summer Sessions Ep. 4 - Champ Addresses the C*m Dumplings Incident
Send us Fan MailChamp Robinson has been in the middle of a relaunch and promoting his new website Vision X. On top of that he has been more open about collaborating and also sharing scenes with models that originally belonged solely to him. It was during one of these content sharing scenes that Champ was confronted by an queer Asian sex worker who was offended by Champ's use of their scene on his website series called "Cum Dumplings," which features Asian models as the bottom. One thing led to another and the following week Champ and his studio were at the receiving end of backlash by a group of queer Asian sex workers who demanded he change the name of his series. I originally asked Champ to come on the podcast while all of this was going down to try and explain his side of the incident better but he was sick in bed and not mentally prepared for it. I caught up with him this week and gave him this opportunity to tell his story. Support the show

Summer Sessions Ep. 3 - The Creator of Giants and Tiny Feet Productions
Send us Fan MailRipper, my guest this week, is a size difference enthusiast who’s into macro fantasy. Unlike my other guests on the subject though, Ripper is also a content creator and owner of the website Giants and Tiny Feet. Like many other size enthusiasts, Ripper was fascinated watching movies like "Honey I Shrunk The Kid, and also remembers sharing school spaces with upper class men who towered over him as a kid.We discuss how macro changed for him during puberty and how like many others in the community with similar tastes, how joining the forum Coiled Fist opened up a world of possibilities. Standing 6’4, an object of fantasy to other macro members himself, Ripper discusses dating men who were a lot shorter and being disappointed due to his fantasy of being “The tiny," writing fan fiction and how he went from fan to content creator and everything that comes with the territory of owning your own studio. Summer Sessions Ep. 2 - Interview with a Pornosexual
Send us Fan MailIn the late 2010's I began seeing a phrase or new sexual orientation rather, called "the Pornosexual." A pornosexual, more recently also referred to as a solosexual as well, describes a person whose sexual orientation is linked solely to porn. It's become so easy to get your hands on porn today that some people just don't feel the need to have another person in the room. I received a message from a listener named Timmy, a self-described pornosexual who is a gay man in his mid-sixties who discovered porn while in his teens by way of Blue Boy magazines and VHS tapes. After a 26 year long relationship Timmy is now in a healthy relationship with himself and his love of porn. During our conversation we discover a little more about the age demographic of gay men who lived through the AIDS epidemic; a time where being alone and finding new ways to get off may have saved your life. In there a correlation? Yes, to an extent. This is a great episode filled with some history and Timmy's story. Enjoy. Support the show

Summer Sessions Ep. 1 - The Side Position
Send us Fan MailI had a couple of interesting conversations that just couldn't wait for Season 4, so here's episode 1 of 5 in a "Summer Series."It's safe to say everyone who listens to this podcast knows what a top is and what a bottom is. But, have you heard of a side? If you haven't, make way because here they come. Well they've always been here. A side is basically described as a gay man who doesn't enjoy receiving or giving anal sex. But we don't want basics. That's why we reached out to OtterXaddy (pronounced Otter Zaddy) who is a side, to lay it all out for us. In this episode you will learn that a side is more than just a "gay man who doesn't like anal sex," it is everything sexual including oral, kinks, fetishes minus anal. So if you think about it; we've all participated as a side at one point or another. Otter details moments in his dating history when he realized he just wasn't that into anal sex, but loved everything else that came with being a gay man and how sides are made to feel like less of a gay man by others who don't understand them. This is a great conversation filled with so much to learn and I hope you enjoy it as much as we had putting it together. P.S. If you have any questions you'd like to ask our guest this week, here is his twitter handle: @otterxaddySupport the show

S3E30 - The Davey Wavey Interview
Send us Fan MailWhat can I say about Youtube Star Davey Wavey that he hasn’t already said or that you might not be aware of? I got an email from Davey Wavey in March about connecting and was blown away; how on earth did he find my dog and pony show? Lol! Of course I know who Davey is but it wasn’t until a listener of the podcast asked me about a studio called Himeros TV that I finally made the correlation. Davey Wavey is the creator of Himeros TV; an adult platform aiming to revolutionize gay erotica as we know it. During this episode, Davey and I talk about his early days on YouTube before it became the juggernaut it is today. We discuss his channel, growing an audience and his shift towards more sexually charged content that led to Himeros TV. Davey opens up about his relationship with gay porn while growing up and the lack of intimacy, depth and originality that has long been associated in the adult entertainment industry today. This led him to venture into starting his own studio that would be "like gay porn but better." But do we really need another gay porn studio? Was there initial pushback from other studios? Why is Himeros TV a better way to watch porn? You will get it straight from Davey's mouth on the season 3 finale of Demystifying Gay Porn. Enjoy. Support the show
