#DDMS Episode 42: The media is lying to you
Send a textThe mic comes back on with a blunt reset and a promise: no more coasting on headlines, no more letting AI fakes dictate our outrage. We open with a personal check-in—new studio, a rough month with sciatica—and then wade straight into the storm swirling around immigration enforcement, two headline shootings, and the way media narratives shape what we think we know. If you’ve felt that creeping doubt about every clip you see, you’re not alone. We unpack the call to “defund the media” by getting practical about verification. What does a real search warrant require? Why do arrests look brutal even when they’re by-the-book? How can a single frame turn complex, chaotic events into morality plays for clicks? We work through the Renee Good case with empathy and hard edges—acknowledging tragedy while examining choices, tactics, and the split-second fear calculus that never reads well in hindsight. We then turn to Portland’s shooting tied to alleged gang connections and a police chief’s uneasy press moment, probing how politics can pull leaders away from clear, fact-led communication. The Alex Pretty incident becomes a crash course in use of force: weapon separation, the rule that any fight with police puts a gun in play, why more officers can mean safer outcomes, and where training meets human limits. Along the way we tackle AI-generated video distortions, myths about ICE hiring, and the selective editing that fuels viral certainty. We also draw a hard line on professional ethics after disturbing clips show medical workers fantasizing about harming officers—because when care becomes a political tool, trust collapses for everyone. If your feed keeps telling you what to feel before you know what happened, hit pause with us. Listen, question, and test the story against the facts—even when it stings your side. Subscribe, share with a friend who values nuance, and leave a review with one thing you want us to fact-check next.Support the showThank you all for all the support! Episode 41: HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Able-Bodied, Empty Carts: Rethinking SNAP Abuse And Government Dependence
Send a textThe sirens aren’t just sound effects—they’re a mood. With SNAP benefits on pause and threats to loot trending online, we step into a raw, unfiltered look at how a safety net can turn into a battleground. We talk through the fear, the anger, and the messy middle where working families budget every dollar while politics treats food aid like a poker chip.We start with first-hand moments from the field: overstuffed carts, hot food on benefits, and homes packed with able-bodied adults who don’t clock in anywhere. Then we draw a hard line between those gaming the system and those who truly need it: elderly people on fixed incomes, disabled neighbors, single parents escaping abuse, and workers hit by layoffs. The point isn’t cruelty—it’s clarity. SNAP was meant to be a bridge back to work, not a landing pad for years. That means tighter work expectations, job placement, training and childcare to make work possible, plus real enforcement for fraud and resale scams. We also wrestle with the political fight no one can ignore: who should qualify, how much we spend, and why shutdowns keep holding families hostage. You’ll hear sharp takes on eligibility for undocumented immigrants, corporate incentives that steer billions in SNAP spending, and the deeper trust problem when wages lag but prices soar. We map these tensions onto a bigger pattern—extreme inequality, corruption, middle-class fatigue, and loss of faith in institutions—warning signs we’ve seen before in France, Russia, and Cuba. If that sounds dramatic, consider the stakes when looting becomes a bargaining tactic and every vote gets framed as moral war. This isn’t about left or right. It’s about making the safety net work as promised: fast help for real need, real paths back to work, and policies that stop incentivizing dependence. If you’ve felt the squeeze at the checkout line, if you’ve helped a neighbor through a hard stretch, or if you’re just tired of performative politics deciding who eats, this conversation is for you.If this resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review with your take on how to fix SNAP without breaking trust. Your stories and solutions matter—drop them in the comments and let’s build something better together.Support the showThank you all for all the support! I couldn't do this without everyone's support! #DDMS Episode 40: Zombies Would Have Lobbyists—So Why Not Cops?
Send a textSirens, slogans, and a hard dose of reality—this conversation pulls back the curtain on what happens when policy rhetoric meets the street. We open with the “defund” soundbites and ask a tougher question: how do you expect better policing from fewer, more exhausted officers with less training and more constraints? From a volatile ICE encounter in Chicago to the daily grind of 911 calls that aren’t crimes, we connect the dots between budgets, morale, rules of engagement, and the split-second decisions that shape public safety. We walk through the federal-local friction most people never see. Different authorities, policies, and liabilities mean local police can’t always jump into federal operations, even when the public demands it. We also break down crime and gun policy without the usual caricatures: strict laws on paper can’t replace targeted enforcement, community trust, and the training that builds judgment under pressure. Bail reform, officer burnout, and staffing shortages each have ripple effects; ignore them, and the whole system frays.Immigration debates get a fact check, too. We cite 8 U.S.C. §1325 to clarify what’s criminal and what’s civil, and we talk about fairness for people who followed the legal path. Beyond the headlines, we argue for a rational middle: defend the need for policing while demanding accountability; invest in scenario-based training, wellness, and supervision; pair clinicians where it helps without pretending social workers can replace cops at violent scenes. If you want safer streets, you can’t cut your way to competence—or shame your way to service. If this conversation challenged your assumptions or gave you a clearer lens, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a rating with your biggest takeaway. Your feedback helps us keep the conversation honest and useful.Support the showThank you all for all the support! I couldn't do this without everyone's support! #DDMS Episode 39: Inside a Probable Cause Affidavit: The Charlie Kirk Case Breakdown
Send a textA father’s vow to “kill the man” who took his six-year-old son’s life sets a raw tone—and it’s impossible not to feel that rage. We start there, with the Logan Tipton case: the 911 call from an eleven-year-old sister, a dad holding his boy in his arms, and a justice system that releases the killer under supervision in under a decade. That anger is real. But the path forward requires more than fury. So we pivot into the Charlie Kirk shooting with a different tool: the probable cause affidavit. We walk you through the affidavit like a map. What is it? A sworn, legal document that must meet the elements of each crime. What’s inside? A detailed narrative of the UVU setup, surveillance footage that tracks a suspect to a rooftop, a bolt-action rifle recovered with one spent round, forensics linking DNA to the trigger and casings, and messages to a roommate about intent, the drop point, and deleting evidence. We unpack the full charge list—aggravated murder, felony discharge, obstruction, tampering, and enhancements for victim targeting and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child—and show how each count ties to specific facts rather than speculation. If you’ve heard claims about a lapel mic firing a round or a security guard as the shooter, we address why the affidavit pushes back: vantage point, trajectory, rooftop impressions, recovered weapon, etched rounds, and a paper trail of texts that read like a confession. The point isn’t to shut down questions; it’s to anchor them in verifiable evidence. Along the way, we talk about sentencing, parole, and how public trust breaks when punishment doesn’t match the harm—without abandoning due process or clarity.Stick around to the end for how we plan to expand this into a longer video breakdown. If this deep dive helps you separate outrage from proof, share it with a friend, subscribe, and leave a review. #DDMS Episode 38: Free Speech, Cancel Culture, and the Assassination of Charlie Kirk
Send a textThe growing political divide in America has reached a breaking point. After the assassination of Charlie Kirk, it's time to address how our inability to engage in respectful dialogue is tearing the fabric of our society apart. For years, I've kept silent about politics on my social platforms. As a law enforcement officer, I've seen firsthand how expressing certain viewpoints leads to immediate backlash—accusations of racism, bigotry, and calls for cancellation. My own TikTok account with 600,000 followers was taken down simply because I wear a badge and wasn't afraid to respond to those attacking me.What's most disturbing in the aftermath of Kirk's assassination is watching people celebrate the death of someone they disagreed with. Even more troubling are the blatant mischaracterizations of his statements. Despite following his content for years, I never witnessed the hateful rhetoric he's accused of spreading. Yes, he held strong Christian beliefs, but I observed him engaging respectfully with people across the political and identity spectrum. We've created a culture where nuanced conversation is impossible. People retreat to their echo chambers where opposing viewpoints are demonized rather than engaged with. The hypocrisy is striking—those who cheered when conservatives were deplatformed now cry foul when facing similar treatment themselves. As a nation, we must learn to talk to one another again. We need to listen to opposing viewpoints without immediately resorting to name-calling or violence. "When people stop talking, really bad stuff starts. When marriages stop talking, divorce happens. When civilizations stop talking, civil war ensues."My commitment moving forward is to be more vocal, not because I have all the answers, but because staying silent while watching our country tear itself apart is no longer an option. Join me as we explore how to bridge these divides through conversation before it's too late.Support the showThank you all for all the support! I couldn't do this without everyone's support! DDMS episode 24: The Struggle with Loss, National Borders, and the Influence of Extremist Ideologies
Send a textWhen the world hands you the unexpected, how do you stand up to the challenge? This episode is a raw, unfiltered experience of tackling the unforeseen—from the poignant emptiness of loss to the gritty realities of farm life and national concerns. I invite you on a deeply personal voyage, where I confront the absence of my father and embrace the mantle of responsibilities that come with a shift from the urban rush to the rhythms of the countryside. Joe Rogan and Dr. Phil recently sparked a profound dialogue on border security, leading us to question the implications of foreign land ownership, with a spotlight on Chinese investments. These conversations are critical, and we need to grasp their breadth and depth fully. The undercurrents of political destabilization are no fiction. They are as real and as close as our next breath. As we unpack the testimonies of a KGB defector alongside a North Korean escapee, we trace the sinister stages of ideological subversion eroding our society's fabric. The conversation stretches from dissecting the influences of Marxist-Leninist ideologies on our economy and defense to contemplating the severe impact of leftist ideology on law enforcement and the contentious drive to defund the police. It's a chapter that's as enlightening as it is unnerving, pushing us to stay vigilant against the tide of "big brother" governance.Meanwhile, the episode's latter half casts a lens over my time in law enforcement, the skepticism I now harbor towards government control, and the balance between belief and conspiracy. Navigating the pitfalls of cancel culture and societal conformity, I examine the influence of current events on our community ethos, emphasizing the power of resilience without caving to fear. Wrapping up, I can't help but extend a heartfelt salute to you—my listeners—for your steadfast support. DDMS episode 23: Life After Loss Embracing Farm Responsibilities Amidst Policing Discussions
Send a textGrief has a way of reshaping our lives in unexpected and profound ways. As I open up about the recent loss of my father, I invite you into a raw and honest discussion of the whirlwind of emotions and duties that come with such a significant change. Amidst the heartache, life on the farm presses on with tasks from driveway repairs to welcoming new baby pigs. I'll also share how supporting my mother through this transition has brought its own set of trials and changes, including the potential for her retirement to join me on the farm. The fine line between duty and humanity often blurs for those in law enforcement, a truth brought into stark relief by a recent event in Florida. An officer's split-second decision under the shadow of PTSD sparked intense debate and a personal reflection on the power of social media humor. In sharing my misstep with a video that crossed the line, I underscore the delicate dance between comedy and sensitivity, and the weight of responsibly wielding the tools of public communication. As we navigate the tangled web of truth, transparency, and public expectation, the conversation turns to the contentious topic of racial bias in policing. Surprising research findings challenge popular narratives, igniting a discussion on the bravery required to publish controversial data. The episode wraps up with a candid look at the overwhelming pressures faced by law enforcement, on and off the clock, and how privacy, scrutiny, and the intersecting challenges of our public and personal lives never cease to demand our attention and compassion.Support the showThank you all for all the support! #DDMS Episode 12: A Serious Look at Parenting, Community Faults, and Policing Challenges
Send a textDid you ever pay attention to how your children mimic your every word and gesture? It's both amusing and terrifying at the same time. Like our little dude, who's been marching around the house shouting 'march, march,' and saluting everything, after learning about saluting the flag at school. Parenting moments like these are adorable, but, sometimes, they also demand our serious attention. Like when he didn't want me to leave for work. Was it just a child's plea or a sign of something more profound? But not all parenting tales are sweet. Some rip your heart out. Like a 13-year-old's life cut short due to negligent parenting and society's apathy. How are we, as a community, failing our children? The chilling story of Amelia and Christine, two sisters caught in a cycle of abuse and violence, further underlines the lasting impact of these failings. But, it's not just about identifying the problems, it's about holding those accountable that perpetuate them.Switching from parenting to police work isn't easy, neither are the challenges we face in the line of duty. Like this one time, when an officer had to prove his right to use an oil pad. The dark underbelly of society, marked by gang violence, drug use, and theft, doesn't make it any easier.
