Here it is the end of February and I am still smiling from BOC 2013!  What an amazing day and celebration. The Space Cowboys throw down like no other crew and BOC is their flagship event. I am always honored to play BOC as this reunion of revelers is the best way to ring in the new year. This year I had the pleasure of playing in between Zach Moore and the Plump DJs on the Funktion One sound system outside. From Tumor Lounge to Ghostship IV and many a Halloween in between, the Space Cowboys never disappoint.  This year's Ghost Ship was no exception as they pulled out all the stops with speaker stacks, art cars, installations and an amazing crowd. Who knows how to throw a party better than The Space Cowboys? If you have ever been to Breakfast Of Champions then you know the answer to that question is NOBODY! Over the past 10 years, the Cowboys have established BOC as a San Francisco institution. I am always honored by the opportunity to play for the Space Cowboys but BOC has a special place in my heart. The crowds at BOC are unlike any other. Geared up and keen to throw down until someone cries "uncle". It was a special treat to play an outside set at the new venue for BOC 2010. Not only is MurphStar a phenomenal DJ in his own right (I've heard him play on a dozen occasions at least and he's never failed to whip the dance floor into an absolute frenzy), he's also well-known for bringing some of the best international talent from the world of breakbeat to San Francisco. Murph was at it again on November 20th as his crew, Seismic, welcomed the venerable Plump DJs to Mighty to celebrate their much anticipated CD release on the Global Underground label. Murph wasted no time lathering up a dedicated dance crowd for the Plumps and, amazingly, I was able to record his entire opening set!! If you know Murph (or me), you may also be familiar with the long, sad saga of many failed attempts on my part (due to technical difficulties or drunkenness) to record his live sets. But the DJ gods must have been smiling on us that evening because the recording went off without a hitch. And I have no doubt you'll find yourself grinning from ear to ear, and bobbing your head, to this tasty breakbeat set from Murphstar. Enjoy!
