Join our Dodgers Nation Fancave Series: https://dodgersnation.com/fancave/ Series Win vs. San Diego! The Dodgers take the series in San Diego, extending their NL West lead to 10 games. Emitt Sheen (5 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 5 K) delivers a much-needed bounce-back start, with Tanner Scott dominant in the 7th and 8th and Edgardo Henriquez closing it out for the save. Key Fifth Inning. A three-run 5th inning breaks the game open. Freddie Freeman works a 9-pitch walk (loading the bases) on a pitch that likely should've been challenged by the Padres, then Mookie Betts delivers a two-run single to chase Michael King. Mookie Betts Heating Up! Mookie goes 4-for-12 across the series (.333, 2 HR, 6 RBI) and is now hitting .102 wRC+, 4 outs above average at shortstop. Doug argues Mookie used his defensive miscue during Yamamoto's near-perfect game as fuel, and notes he's now outperforming Corey Seager (who's hitting .185 in just 49 games this season). Kyle Tucker Trending Up As Well. Tucker had a big game on Saturday with a huge 3-hit, 4-RBI performance. Doug reiterates his preference for Tucker batting second behind Ohtani, calling him platoon-neutral and better suited for that role than batting further down the order. Emmet Sheehan's Mental Approach. In a postgame interview, Sheehan discusses separating process from results, improving curveball location, and leaning on conviction rather than mechanical overthinking. Dave Roberts calls it "something to build on" but notes command still needs work. Shohei Ohtani Not 100% Dave Roberts confirms Ohtani is still managing left knee inflammation and a blister, though he's slotted to start Wednesday. Doug flags this as a genuine concern but notes Ohtani's drive to pursue a Cy Young makes him unlikely to skip starts voluntarily. Will Smith Injury Concern. Smith hasn't played since June 5th due to a neck disc issue and hasn't yet begun baseball activities. Roberts calls the timeline "longer than expected" but not a long-term concern. Doug floats Ben Rortvedt (Benny Biceps) as a potential external addition to stabilize the catching depth. Shohei Ohtani Is Moving On From the Dalton Rushing Situation. DMac recaps the on-field communication dispute and says the situation has internally been treated as a blip. Footage of Ohtani high-fiving and patting Rushing after his home run signals the beef is squashed. Former MLB catcher Jerry Hairston Jr. validates Ohtani's instinct to call pitches, comparing it to Zack Greinke doing the same during his career. Tarik Skubal Trade Talk. DMac shares that Jeff Passan told him there's an 85% chance Skubal ends up a Dodger, with Detroit seeking young, controllable talent. Doug's preferred package: Emmet Sheehan + Michael Soroka + a prospect, noting the Dodgers would pursue Skubal even with a fully healthy rotation.

No. 22:12 Cy Young Race: Innings Count Is the Real Factor 26:52 Mookie Betts Hits 300th Career Home Run 29:00 The Error That Sparked Mookie's Season Turnaround 30:00 Jeff Passan: Dodgers Still All-In on Tarik Skubal 39:25 DMac Gets Called Out Over Kyle Tucker Comments Dalton Rushing's rough night vs. Ohtani. There were notable miscommunications between Rushing and Shohei Ohtani during Ohtani's start, including Rushing appearing to refuse Ohtani's repeated requests to use the ABS challenge system on borderline pitches; pitches that later proved to be strikes. Ohtani ultimately took over calling his own game after the second inning. DMac defends Rushing from fan backlash. DMAC pushes back hard on the outrage, pointing out that Rushing has caught fewer than 100 MLB games, is still very young, recently went through concussion protocols, and that Will Smith — an established All-Star since 2019 — is simply going to be a better game-caller at this stage. The comparison is unfair by design. Rushing's accountability earns respect. After the game, Rushing didn't hide from reporters and said, "It's embarrassing that I need support like that. I am a grown man." Doug says that postgame moment actually raised his respect for Rushing, framing the experience as necessary "tuition" young players pay to grow. Dodgers' strategy context & Rushing's future. Doug notes the Dodgers are deliberately developing young players like Rushing, Alex Freeland, Andy Pages, and Roki Sasaki alongside their win-now core. He believes Rushing will look back on the Minnesota moment as a turning point, and projects him as a future multi-time All-Star. Did Rushing cost Ohtani the Cy Young? No. DMAC dismantles the take that Rushing cost Ohtani the Cy Young. He argues Ohtani's lower innings total (79.2 IP vs. Jacob Misiorowski's 93 and Christopher Sanchez's 105) is the real factor, attributing it to the six-man rotation, not Rushing. Ohtani still carries a sub-2.00 ERA but trails in fWAR. Mookie Betts hits 300th career HR. Mookie has heated up with a .923 OPS over his last 10 games. His 300th career homer places him among just 30 players in MLB history with 300 HRs, 400 doubles, and 150 stolen bases. Doug credits Betts's pride and the error during Yamamoto's near-perfect game as the emotional spark that turned his season around. Tarik Skubal trade pursuit still very much alive. Jeff Passan told Doug on his radio show that the Dodgers intend to aggressively pursue Skubal even with a fully healthy rotation, viewing him as a needle-mover they want to keep away from other contenders. Conversations with Detroit date back to last winter. Prospects like Mike Cerόda (acquired in the Gavin Lux trade) could be part of the package. DMAC gets called out over Kyle Tucker comment. Doug's radio remarks about Tucker "rarely being at his locker" were clipped and spread out of context. He clarifies the point was about media accessibility — that players who engage with LA's fanbase tend to earn more goodwill when they struggle — and extends a standing open invitation for Tucker to come on the show.

Shohei Ohtani and Dalton Rushing Tensions Heat Up. Multiple on-field moments showed Ohtani tapping his head aggressively signaling "that's a strike" while Rushing shook his head in disagreement. DMAC argues that with Shohei Ohtani, the catcher simply has to defer — "if he says jump, you say how high" — especially given Rushing's inconsistent challenge record. The tension spilled into the dugout mid-game, with Freddie Freeman, Dave Roberts, and the team's mental health coach all seen having a clearly serious conversation with a visibly upset Dalton Rushing on the bench between innings. Dalton Rushing owns up to his mistake. In a candid post-game presser, Dalton Rushing called his performance "pretty embarrassing," admitted it was "an error on my side," and vowed to improve — earning significant praise from Doug for owning it publicly and standing tall in front of the media. Shohei Ohtani's reaction to the drama. Ohtani spoke through a translator and was measured but clear, saying the two lacked "in-game flexibility" and needed to "be on the same page and communicate throughout the game" — a diplomatic but pointed acknowledgment of the breakdown. The numbers tell a stark story: Ohtani's ERA with Will Smith catching is 0.74; with Dalton Rushing it's 4.34. While a damning stat, don't reading too much into it, as Ohtani was simply sharper and fresher earlier in the season when Will Smith was healthy. Dave Roberts' Point of View. Dave Roberts confirmed the two were "out of sync early," said Rushing is still a work in progress emotionally, and noted that once Ohtani effectively took over the pitch-calling, things smoothed out — adding that the pitcher always has "the right of last refusal." Jeff Passan says he's 80% confident that Tarik Skubal is coming to LA. Separate from the Rushing drama, a major Tarik Skubal trade update: ESPN's Jeff Passan told Doug on his radio show he's roughly 80% confident the Dodgers will land Skubal, with Andrew Friedman reportedly willing to be aggressive even with a healthy rotation. Tyler Glasnow, Justin Wrobleski, and prospects like Ethan Salas were mentioned as potential return pieces. Mookie Betts Hits 300th Career Home Run. Mookie starts off the top of the 2nd inning with a solo home run, crushing his 300th home run of his career. He's the first Dodger to get to that 300 mark since his friend JD Martinez did it with the Dodgers back in 2023. Betts had a great night, 3-4 at bat recording a single, a double, and a home run in a game, but missing a triple to complete the rare and historic "cycle" (where a player hits all four types of safe hits in a single game). DMAC Defends Dalton Rushing. Doug closed with a big-picture defense of Rushing: he cares deeply, has genuine all-star ceiling, and one rough night shouldn't trigger an overreaction — especially since Will Smith is expected to be the primary postseason catcher anyway, and Rushing's offensive upside makes him far too valuable to trade at a low.

Dodgers Have a NEW Problem, LA DESTROYS Twins, Shohei Ohtani Opens Up On Future, Reliever Trades

The Boys in Blue had an immaculate 17 hits — matching a season high — with contributions up and down the lineup. Freddie Freeman went 3-for-5 with two RBI and pushed his career doubles total to 566, passing Carlos Beltrán for 29th all-time in MLB history. Justin Wrobleski continues to make his All-Star case, going 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with a 2.71 ERA on the season. He ranks in the top 10 among NL starters in ERA, WHIP, walks per nine, and HR rate — all while the predictive metrics say he should regress. Wrobleski's recent showings have certainly elevated his trade value, but also the young pitcher proves to be an indispensable presence in a rotation managing big injuries. Chuckie Robinson stepped up in a key depth moment, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a suicide squeeze bunt after a rough showing the night before. With Dalton Rushing (concussion protocol) and Will Smith (herniated disc) both out, the Dodgers are leaning on Robinson far more than anticipated. Catcher depth is a real concern, the Dodgers' backup options in Triple-A (Eliézer Alfonzo, Griffin Lockwood-Powell) aren't on the 40-man roster, leaving the team without a clean emergency option. Dave Roberts expects Dalton Rushing to clear concussion protocol and return the next day, but the situation remains fragile. Kyle Tucker remains sidelined through the Twins series and possibly beyond. Doug reiterates his push for the Dodgers to put Tucker on the IL and give him a proper reset, noting that the offense — while still elite — is missing a key piece. Despite Tucker's absence, the team owns the best record in baseball. Shohei Ohtani opened up on his pitching philosophy in Japan's "Number" magazine, saying he treats each start as potentially his last and refuses to hold back. He also revealed that pitching is more emotionally important to him than hitting because he largely learned it on his own. Is Ohtani burning too many bullets mid-season? The Dodgers will need him healthy in October, especially as blister issues continue to linger. Plus, his role in the Dodgers' six-man rotation limits the number of innings Ohtani pitches compared to other Cy Young contenders like Christopher Sanchez and Jacob Misiorowski. Reliever market on the Dodgers' radar. Brock Stewart's return from the IL was underwhelming (solo HR allowed). LA needs to be aggressive in acquiring at least two bullpen arms before the deadline, particularly with Edwin Díaz as reinforcements still a ways out. Anthony Banda received his 2024 World Series ring, with DMAC giving him a proper shoutout for his contributions to the championship run at Yankee Stadium and throughout the postseason.

Shohei Ohtani hit his 24th leadoff HR as a Dodger, Freddie Freeman added a go-ahead solo shot in the 6th. Eric Lauer followed opener Will Klein and delivered 6 hitless innings with zero runs allowed on just 84 pitches, earning the win. Lauer's Dodgers turnaround is remarkable. Eric Lauer carried a 6.69 ERA in Toronto before being DFA'd, then posted a 2.54 ERA in LA. He credited better command and communication with the Dodgers coaching staff for the turnaround, embracing the opener role after having friction with it in Toronto. Will Klein showing signs of a slump. Klein gave up a Byron Buxton home run in his opener stint. In 6⅓ June innings heading into this game, he posted a 4.26 ERA. Is this a sign that the bullpen may need more reinforcements? Trade targets like Aroldis Chapman and others continue to circle the Dodgers water. Tanner Scott picked up his 10th save. Brock Stewart injury update. Stewart was activated and expected to make his Dodgers debut during the Minnesota series. DMAC remains cautiously skeptical given Stewart's injury history but noted he was acquired to be a high-leverage, right-handed reliever. Dalton Rushing exits with concussion protocol. Rushing was hit in the head by a foul ball in the 3rd inning. He passed initial protocol but Dave Roberts indicated it was unlikely he'd play the next day. Backup Chuckie Robinson went 0-for-3 in relief. Catcher depth is a real concern. With Will Smith already banged up and Rushing now in concussion protocol, DMAC argues the Dodgers need to explore bringing back Ben Rortvedt (formerly with the Mets) given his familiarity with the pitching staff and the fragility of the catcher position. Kyle Tucker's struggles go deeper than a slump. Tucker's Dodgers numbers (.234 AVG / .331 OBP / .374 SLG / .705 OPS) are dramatically below his career averages. His barrel rate has nearly halved to 5.6%, he's swinging at first pitches over 50% of the time (career norm: ~20-30%), and he's hitting just .191 with a .592 OPS at Dodger Stadium vs. .277 / .816 on the road — suggesting the home crowd pressure may be a factor. Should the Dodgers call up James Tibbs III? DMAC suggested the Dodgers phantom-IL Tucker, call up James Tibbs III and platoon Ryan Ward/Alex Call in the outfield. He argues that allowing Tucker to press through a mechanical issue just keeps him average — and "you don't pay $60M a year for average." Tucker left tonight's game with a lower back spasm. Tucker speaks after the game. Tucker described his back "lighting up" between innings, said he's had it before and recovered quickly, but acknowledged rotating motions (throwing, swinging) aggravated it. Dave Roberts said it's day-to-day and no imaging was planned. The Dodgers' Dominance In Context. The Dodgers became the first team to 50 wins in 2026. Since Andrew Friedman took over as President of Baseball Operations, the Dodgers have won 18 postseason series including 3 World Series, while the Giants haven't won an NLDS since 2014.

Tarik Skubal Trade Buzz. Jeff Passan identified the Dodgers as the top destination for Skubal, proposing a package of Emmet Sheehan, Zyhir Hope, and Aiden West. An anonymous GM echoed the framework but preferred Justin Robles over Sheehan due to his left-handedness and extra control years. Host Doug DMAC notes he floated this same package weeks earlier on-air. Dodgers Farm Depth Debunked. DMAC pushes back on the narrative that acquiring Skubal would "empty the farm," pointing out LA has 6–7 top-100 prospects across multiple lists and would only need to move two or three, not the whole system. Roki Sasaki's Emergence. Sasaki has posted a 148 ERA+ over his last four outings, with his improved splitter (thrown at 93 mph off the seam, tunneling off a 100 mph fastball) being the key development. DMAC argues Sasaki may now leapfrog Tyler Glasnow as a postseason starter. Sasaki's Rise Makes River Ryan More Expendable. With Roki locking in a rotation spot, Ryan becomes a more movable trade chip. DMAC also frames a Skubal acquisition as a "suffocating" move, keeping him away from rivals like the Brewers (who also have Misérable) in a playoff series. River Ryan Overdue for a Callup. Ryan recently threw 94 pitches in Triple-A and is "built up" per DMAC, who has spoken to Ryan directly. DMAC argues keeping him in the minors at 27 hurts both his development and the team, and puts Emmet Sheehan on "rotation watch" once the team gets healthy. Emmet Sheehan Struggling. Sheehan posted a 4.70 ERA and 86 ERA+ on the season (14% below league average), with his shortest outing of the year against the Angels. DMAC sees him as the odd man out once the rotation is at full strength. Shohei Ohtani on Historic Pace. Since May 10th, Ohtani leads MLB in wRC+, hitting .379/.469/.653. DMAC contends he's on pace for the best season in baseball history and is headed for a fifth unanimous MVP — the only player ever to win it more than once. Dodgers All-Star Outlook. Locks include Ohtani, Andy Pages (leads CF in HR and RBI), and Max Muncy (leads NL 3B in HR). Yoshinobu Yamamoto is likely in. Freddie Freeman, Wrobleski are on the bubble. Mookie Betts, Kyle Tucker, and Will Smith are currently not tracking toward a selection. Skubal Re-Signing Possibility. DMAC dismisses the idea that LA can't retain Skubal post-trade, noting he's a West Coast native (born in Hayward, CA, raised in Arizona) and that the Dodgers have re-signed rental acquisitions before.

Since May 12th, Ohtani has led all of MLB in OPS, slugging, and weighted runs created. He carries a .301 batting average, a .420 OBP, and a .941 OPS — all elite marks by any era's standards. Shohei Ohtani's sweeper was his best pitch on the day. He navigated minimal trouble — a two-out double in the 5th and a walk in the 6th — but induced a game-ending double play to finish six clean innings on just 86 pitches. The Dodgers have won 16 of their last 20 games and sit 7 games ahead of the Padres and 7.5 ahead of the Diamondbacks, firmly establishing themselves as baseball's best team. In post-game remarks, Shohei Ohtani credited mechanical adjustments (not rest or two-day breaks) as the primary reason for his recent upturn. He noted his posture work directly affects his vision, which impacts both hitting and pitching. Despite a 0.74 ERA, Ohtani doesn't currently qualify for pitching leaderboards (needs one more inning in 62 Dodgers games played). Cy Young voters confirmed his offensive contributions won't factor in; pitching-only merits matter. Christopher Sanchez and Jacob deGrom currently lead the race in innings pitched and WAR. Ohtani is on pace for 13.6 WAR in 2026 — the highest single-season mark since Babe Ruth's 14.1 in 1923, a season played during baseball's segregation era. DMAC argues Ohtani's season is already the greatest in baseball history. Tucker went 3-for-5 with a home run and said it was the best his swing had felt all season. He described trying to drive a low line drive to left-center, which resulted in a quality homer — a potentially encouraging sign for the struggling Dodger outfielder. Jeff Passan reportedly identified the Dodgers as the best fit for Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. McKain argues LA doesn't need to blow up the farm — a package including River Ryan and James Tibbs could get a deal done. Lastly, DMAC highlights Emmett Sheehan's ALS awareness efforts (honoring Pete Frates of the Ice Bucket Challenge) and previews Miles Garrett throwing out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium on Friday.

Join our Dodgers Nation Fancave Series: https://dodgersnation.com/fancave/ 0:00 Intro 1:07 Welcome to Dodgers Dougout Live 3:12 Dave Roberts Calls Out Dodgers Haters 5:02 Does Money Matter? Pushback on Roberts 7:03 Payroll & Postseason: The Real Story 9:41 Dodgers' Smart Reinvestment Strategy 10:59 The Case for Trading for Tarik Skubal 12:26 Why the Three-Peat Window Is Now or Never 15:13 Pitching Risks & Roster Aging Concerns 16:33 Can the Dodgers Win Without Ohtani Pitching? 17:33 All In on Skubal: Why the Dodgers Must Act 19:50 CBA Uncertainty & Closing Thoughts *Dave Roberts Fires Back at Critics.* Manager Dave Roberts pushed back on what he called "lazy takes" about the Dodgers, arguing their success is driven by player development, scouting, international talent acquisition, and draft strategy — not just big spending. DMAC partially agreed but countered that payroll absolutely matters: since 1995, every World Series champion has been a top-10 spender, with the lone exception being the 2003 Marlins. *Money Alone Isn't Enough.* Look no further than the Mets and Padres as cautionary tales of big spending without smart organizational strategy, contrasting them with the Dodgers' disciplined, long-term approach to roster building. *The Dodgers Reinvest Revenue.* Unlike teams that pocket profits, the Guggenheim ownership group continually reinvests earnings into the roster, which McKain credits as a key differentiator in sustaining their dynasty. *Three-Peat Is the Goal — And It's Now or Never.* Only 13 professional franchises in history have won three straight titles, and it's only happened four times in MLB (by the A's and Yankees). The Dodgers may never have this opportunity again, so they should make any moves necessary to acquire a talent like Skubal. *The Roster Is Aging and Peaking.* McKain argued the Dodgers have the oldest roster in the league, with core players like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Oscar Hernandez at or past their peaks. The window to win is narrow. *Pitching Depth Is Fragile.* How confident are we that that all four of last year's key starters (Ohtani, Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow) will remain healthy through another full postseason run? Snell had surgery, and Glasnow has a checkered injury history. Ohtani has never sustained elite two-way performance through a full season and into the playoffs. This is uncharted territory for the two-way superstar, and unfortunately the team can't afford to lose his bat — even if his pitching falters. *The Case for Trading for Tarik Skubal.* McKain made a strong argument for pursuing Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, saying the Dodgers should be "all in" even if it costs prospects like River Ryan and James Tibbs. He also argued that keeping Skubal away from rivals like the Brewers or Yankees is itself a strategic win. MLB insider Bob Nightengale has echoed this, noting the Dodgers are frontrunners for Skubal either at the trade deadline or as a free agent, and that Skubal — who is from Kingman, Arizona — would likely love to play in LA. *CBA Uncertainty Adds Urgency.* With a new Collective Bargaining Agreement looming and potential roster-building restrictions on the horizon, DMAC urged the Dodgers to maximize this championship window now before the landscape of MLB spending potentially changes.

The Dodgers are now 30–9 overall, 9.5 games up on San Diego, snapping a brief losing streak after a five-game win streak. *Andy Pages delivers the at-bat of the year!* Down 0–2 against elite Padres closer Mason Miller (who entered 15-for-15 in saves), Andy Pages battled through a nine-pitch sequence at 101–102 mph, fouling off multiple pitches before lining a sacrifice fly to score Alex Call for the go-ahead run. Freddie Freeman called it one of the best at-bats he's ever seen in person. *Alex Call's aggressive baserunning set up the winning play.* Alex Call pinch-ran for Max Muncy, bolted on Miller's first move, and reached third on a wild pickoff throw that glanced off Ty France's glove. Call's decision was savvy display of game-situation awareness against a pitcher prone to cracking under pressure. *Freddie Freeman snaps his 0-for-18 slump* with two home runs; a first-inning two-run blast and a sixth-inning solo shot to right center. Freeman credited a swing adjustment (finishing higher to avoid cutting) and the presence of his father in the front row as key factors. *The Dodgers bullpen was the game ball.* Emmet Sheen started but went only four innings (4 ER). The pen covered five innings with contributions from Enriquez, Vesia, Treinen, Tanner Scott (win, 1.37 ERA), and Will Klein (7-of-10-pitch strikeout inning), a strong collective performance against a tough opponent. *Mookie Betts' offensive decline is flagged as a growing concern.* DMAC breaks down how Betts has dropped from a top-10 MLB hitter (2020–2023) to around 62nd in weighted runs created+ in 2024–2026, with slugging falling from 8th in baseball (.539) to 74th (.442). Is the #2 spot in the lineup is still optimal for him? *Kyle Tucker struggles against the Padres,* going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in a big rivalry game - including a weak three-pitch groundout in the eighth inning with runners in scoring position. D Tucker has improved in the month of May (.283 BA, .872 OPS) but he still needs to show up in marquee moments. *Brusdar Graterol update is grim.* After beginning a rehab assignment earlier in May, Graterol was shut down again with a lower back injury. Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes said surgery could be a possibility. Graterol hasn't pitched for the Dodgers since the 2024 World Series, and the host notes he admitted during spring training he could barely walk in the offseason from pain. *Blake Snell surgery went well.* Dave Roberts confirmed Snell's procedure (removal of three loose bodies via a nano-needle scope) went as expected, and his recovery timeline is approximately a month closer than Edwin Diaz's return window — a positive development for a rotation in flux. *Eric Lowry activated as BIG roster moves are underway.* The Dodgers optioned Wyatt Mills to activate Lowry, who spoke with pitching coach Mark Prior about mechanical adjustments and a mental reset to fix his 6.90 ERA (he led the AL in HR allowed with 11 last year). Prospect River Ryan also touched 100.9 mph in his latest Triple-A start, generating excitement as a potential rotation callup.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched seven strong innings (3 hits, 8 Ks, 2 walks) but surrendered a solo homer to Miguel Andújar in the first — the game's only run. Michael King was equally dominant, allowing no runs on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts. Offensive struggles were glaring. The Dodgers went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, left 7 men on base, struck out 10 times, and had zero extra-base hits. Key contributors like Mookie Betts, Will Smith, and Max Muncy all went hitless with runners on. Controversial base coaching moment in the 6th inning: third base coach Dino Ebel put up a stop sign on Ha-Seong Kim after a ball got away from Fernando Tatis Jr., a decision many fans criticized given Kim's speed and Tatis's deep fielding position. Roster moves: The Dodgers signed right-handed reliever Jonathan Hernandez to a major league deal (previously with Texas and Seattle), and optioned Chase McDermott to Triple-A. Right-hander Ben Wiseman (shoulder inflammation) was transferred to the 60-day IL. Blake Snell to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow — the same procedure Tarik Skubal had, with the Dodgers hoping for a similarly quick recovery (potentially return in June). Tyler Glasnow's timeline remains uncertain despite no long-term concern. Eric Lauer — recently DFA'd by Toronto after a rough 2025 — was acquired to slot into the rotation and keep the six-man rotation intact alongside Yamamoto, Sasaki, and Ohtani. Shohei Ohtani and Dave Roberts have a mild disagreement on rest days. Roberts credited Ohtani's recent hot streak to being "more refreshed" from rest. Ohtani pushed back, saying his improved posture and setup — not the days off — was the real key, hinting he'd prefer to stay in the lineup. NL West standings tighten: After the loss, the Dodgers sit at 29-19, a half game behind the 29-18 Padres, making the division race more competitive and raising questions about how the offense will perform against elite pitching going forward.
