Chakay Smith, a licensed Cosmologist returned to her journey in the beauty business in 2013 as a Lash Artist. She became a PMU Artist in 2016 which led her to the SMP industry in 2018 and the first African American female SMP Artist here in the Bay Area, California. Chakay was born and raised in Richmond, Ca. She is a retired Police Officer, former restaurant and hair salon owner. Chakay is passion driven and has always been determined to make a positive difference in other’s lives. As a Scalp Micropigmentation Specialist she knows she can do just that! She continues to be a forever student of the game and her goal is to keep the SMP industry solid. Chakay is now an SMP Educator. Her goal is to not only train students, but to make sure they have and understand all the tools they need to succeed, mentally, physically, and emotionally! Chakay is The First Lady of Gerow Hair Ink! She joined the Pioneers of SMP early 2023 as Gerow was making moves to expand to the West Coast. Chakay and the Gerow Team opened a Gerow Hair Clinic and Academy in the San Francisco Bay Area July 2023. As a former tattoo artist, SMP was a natural fit for Kat. He was apprenticed under Picasso Jeff and became a Master Trainer under LDRS Academy. Kat has taught classes internationally with other masters in Canada, Europe, Asia, and across the US. A quick read of his reviews will tell you that his attention to detail, patience, professionalism, ability to clearly communicate his craft and love for people is what sets him apart. As of late 2023, he Launched INK HDZ in Santa Monica where he now practices and teaches. Kat resides in LA with his wife Daniella, and two pups.
