ELP Rare footage by Carl Palmer, Buenos Aires Teatro Gran Rivadavia 29/05/2026 El legendario baterista Carl Palmer, miembro fundador de Emerson, Lake & Palmer, llega al país con su proyecto El Regreso de Emerson, Lake &Palmer , ELP Legacy, una propuesta que mantiene vivo el legado de una de las bandas más influyentes del rock progresivo. A diferencia de un tributo convencional, el show combina performance en vivo con material audiovisual original autorizado por las familias de Keith Emerson y Greg Lake. A través de una puesta en escena con tres pantallas, se integran imágenes de archivo de los músicos junto a la interpretación en vivo de Palmer, generando una experiencia inmersiva que conecta pasado y presente. Emerson, Lake & Palmer (también conocida como ELP) fue un supergrupo de rock progresivo formado en el municipio de Croydon (Londres), Inglaterra en 1970, que alcanzó su mayor popularidad en la década de 1970, vendiendo más de 35 millones de discos y realizando multitudinarios conciertos. La espectacularidad de sus grabaciones y presentaciones les pusieron a la altura de las grandes bandas de su época. ¡Mirá los años que estos tanos nos hicieron esperar!, le decía un fan a otro en la fila, a punto de entrar al Gran Rivadavia, en Floresta. La frase tenía un porqué: Premiata Fornería Marconi (PFM) se presentó por primera vez en la Argentina al cabo de 45 años de trayectoria. Y acá jugó de local: una legión colmó el teatro y coreó cada tema como si la prolongada espera no hubiera sido obstáculo para esa comunión. La banda desplegó un repertorio con base en sus clásicos: “La luna nuova”, “Photos of ghost”, “Harlequin”, “Dolcissima María” y “Maestro della Voce”, entre otros, aunque también exhibió su faceta sinfónica actual: interpretó pasajes de Romeo y Julieta de Prokofiev y la Obertura Guillermo Tell de Rossini, con un endemoniado violín eléctrico como punta de lanza. PFM conserva hoy sólo a dos de los miembros que integraron la formación más prolífica y recordada de la banda: Franz Di Cioccio, un frontman doble función que va hiperkinético de la batería al centro del escenario cada vez que deja los tambores para asumir el rol de voz líder, y Patrick Djivas, el bajista que en los 80 inclinó al grupo hacia los caminos de la fusión entre el rock y el jazz. El repertorio de PFM combina hoy mundos distintos pero no tan distantes: amalgama pasajes en que el rock duro da lugar a formas más clásicas y hace de las variaciones de tiempo un juego desafiante. Es destacable la pulida destreza con que la banda pasa de composiciones con aires sinfónicos a fragmentos pop, a los que añade un tinte melódico propio de sus raíces mediterráneas. El epílogo fue para enmarcarlo en el recuerdo: público agolpado frente al escenario y coreando el estribillo de “Celebration”, el enérgico tema con el que el grupo cierra históricamente todos sus shows. En suma, la deuda pendiente que PFM tenía con sus fans de estas latitudes quedó plenamente saldada. Bastó con ver al final del show caras plenas de alegría y emoción. No sólo por un recital de impecable factura. También por la interacción entre los músicos y el público. Lo prueba la foto capturada al final del show y pedida por la propia banda, cuyos siete integrantes se pusieron de espaldas a la platea mientras un fotógrafo los retrataba exultantes al tiempo que tres mil brazos se agitaban en el aire para darle fondo a una inolvidable postal.

Dominion es el decimotercer álbum de estudio de la banda británica de neo-prog IQ, lanzado el 28 de marzo de 2025 a través de Giant Electric Pea (GEP) Records. Este álbum de 53 minutos se destaca por su cohesión, contrastes y toques de optimismo, alejándose de la pesadez de sus dos álbumes anteriores (The Road of Bones y Resistance) 1. Never Land (8:16) Total Time 53:08 Desde antes de que termine el mes de marzo del año 2025 ya tenemos a nuestra disposición lo nuevo del veterano grupo británico IQ: se titula “Dominion” y allí aparece el quinteto establecido desde hace más de 10 años, o sea, Peter Nicholls [voz y coros], Mike Holmes [guitarras, algunos teclados y coros], Tim Esau [bajos, pedales bajos y coros], Neil Durant [teclados] y Paul Cook [batería y percusión]. Todo el material contenido en “Dominion” fue compuesto por Holmes y Nicholls, estando el primero a cargo de la producción (como es habitual desde hace muchos años). También hay otros colaboradores de larga data presentes en la concreción de este álbum, el decimosegundo del grupo: el ingeniero de sonido Rob Aubrey y el diseñador artístico Tony Lythgoe. El proceso de grabación tuvo lugar entre noviembre de 2023 y diciembre de 2024, en los Aubitt Studios de Southampton. En líneas generales, podemos advertir que los climas, índices melódicos y atmósferas vertidos en este nuevo material se mantienen rodando por la senda trazada en la ilación de los dos trabajos precedentes, “The Road Of Bones” (2014) y “Resistance” (2019), con algunos matices emotivos que marcaron (en diferentes dosis) a los discos entre 1993 y 2000. Definitivamente, este grupo envejece de las mil maravillas, manteniéndose fiel a lo más perenne de su visión del rock progresivo mientras renueva detalles sónicos; y eso que el grupo pasó por un periodo de hibernación forzada por la pandemia. Eso sí, parece que este trance influyó bastante en la poesía de Nicholls, pues las letras de varias canciones giran en torno a la muerte y la temporalidad de la existencia (en coincidencia con “Ever”, ese fantástico álbum de 1993). De hecho, el título del disco está tomado del poema de DYLAN THOMAS Death shall have no dominion. En suma, es como si se tratara de la compleción de una trilogía iniciada con “The Road Of Bones” donde se decide dar un poco menos de incidencia a los climas crepusculares que fueron tan prevalentes en “Resistance”, pero mejor es que entremos de una vez en los detalles específicos del disco que hoy nos convoca.

Breve biografía y noticias: The Anaton Project es un proyecto progresivo con sede en Oslo que demuestra lo que puede suceder cuando músicos de orígenes muy diferentes se unen con una curiosidad compartida en lugar de una fórmula fija. La banda fue fundada por el guitarrista y vocalista Johnny Normann Berg, cuyas raíces se encuentran en el rock neoprogresivo, y rápidamente evolucionó hacia un proyecto colaborativo moldeado por influencias contrastantes.
