Episode 121: Underground Movement Show - Episode 121 : Chanski / Monday Off / Aerotropic Records / NYC

Youtube : Underground Movement Show on YoutubeWelcome back to ElectronicRhythm.com’s Underground Movement Show, where we uncover the artists shaping the pulse of our global electronic music community — from the long-celebrated to the criminally underrated. For this episode, we’re joined by long-time producer and DJ Chanski, whose commitment to sound exploration has quietly carved a distinct space for himself in the darker corners of the techno realm. In an exclusive interview recorded just before his set, Chanski opens up about the influences, rituals, and internal shifts that keep his sonic identity fluid and fiercely personal.  In the background during the interview, you can listen to several of Chanski's productions which are available on Aerotropic Records in the following order:"Diebstahl""Atonality""Sandy""Mechanical Error""Tonality""An Anomaly""Taz"This is not just a mix — it’s an immersion. His exclusive set for ER moves through Dark Atmospheric Techno, saturated with haunted textures, layered tension, and deep, resonant basslines that seem to rise from beneath the floor. It's a world he builds deliberately — a sound that feels less like it’s played and more like it's summoned. We invite you to listen closely — to the nuance, the restraint, the edges. This is the kind of set that doesn’t ask for attention; it earns it. Whether you're a longtime follower or stumbling into this moment by chance, we think you’ll find something vital here.Chanski ER Podcast Playlist :Artist’s sounds used for this hybrid set in the following order:Still Life - Silent ServantKalter - LADA (Dasha Rush and Lars Hemmerling)X-Files Groove - Dorisburg & Efraim KentAndakt - DorisburgTesting Two -  DebbieThe Telegraph - Chris WatsonMOBS - Ken IshiiCCA - unreleasedStruktures - RødhådTunnel Vision - PerfoIch bin meine Maschine (Boys Noise Remix) = Atom™Chapter 01 - DHÆÜRSorting - Ntnd & ParabeltEmpty Line - RumanThe Last Scene - Planetary Assaults SystemsA Southern Code - ErosFainted Pads - Chanski  Chanski Links: Links:Resident Advisor : https://ra.co/dj/chanskiSoundcloud : https://soundcloud.com/chanskiBandcamp : https://chanski.bandcamp.com/album/drum-mindingBeatport : https://www.beatport.com/artist/chanski/343489Discogs : https://www.discogs.com/artist/3817330-ChanskiMonday Off : https://mondayoff.bandcamp.com/album/sayz-epTransmission begins now. Thanks for riding the frequencies with us!Until next time,Parallel PreservationElectronicRhythm.com | The Underground Movement ShowCheck out our store:ElectronicRhythm.com/store

    Episode 113: Underground Movement Show - Episode 113 - J74-Fabrizio Poce

Full Post:https://www.electronicrhythm.com/j74-fabrizio-poce/The electronic music alternative scene is changing. Besides the EDM boom which is fevering the young kids and, of course, the eternal lust for good techno tunes for the dance floor, the digital revolution has changed a good part of the alternative music scene through a merge of software "nerdy stuff", such as (creative) coding, audio / visual sync, generative visuals and music (electronic for the most) itself. For these guys and girls it gets all interrelated. Computers as tools for everything.J74 (alias Fabrizio Poce) is an example of this. Someone who defines himself as 33% developer, 33% musician, 33% visual artist, 1% chaos. He makes music, but also runs a small software development unit for creative music plugins and he merges this making his own software for audio reactive, generative visuals. His instruments are the computer and the synthesizers, together. And when he makes an album is because the music got inspired by making the software or the other way around. In the late 90's he made electronic music in bands (in Italy: Electro Alba, Chrome K0r@n), with a few EPs published and lot's of gigs around Europe. In the likes of many electronic acts. Then life carried onto other professional experiences, on the edge of the Internet revolution (developing software and part of the Internet itself). But in the last 10 years music hit back and the circle got round: he started coding for music. But because of the new technology available it did not end there. Generative visual art could be added to the same real-time experience. He runs now a small independent plugin line for Ableton Live, mostly based on Max for Live as development environment. He makes generative visuals inside Ableton Live with V-Module, a tool he created and shared as open source, free.He makes music (again), having after almost twenty years published tow albums, "Earth Life" in 2010 and "Weather Changes" in 2015, just out.As a promotion for his initiatives, "Weather Changes" will be available as free download untill June 25th 2015.And you can see him here and there performing audio visual sets, specially on festivals such as LPM, Freemote, and the likes. The story about the "Weather Changes" album is quite representative of this.Almost all tracks have been made as test tracks or demo tracks for the J74 software (both music and visual related). As inspiration strikes in these cases, the tracks eventually evolved from ambient demos to an ambient full length album.Something which was a pleasure to make and which actually helped making the software better. All info on J74 are on his website: http://fabriziopoce.com/index.html

We're here to change that dammit, starting right now. It's Berlin by way of London and Austria. It's FLASH Recordings (his own label) by way of Trapez, Suara, Resopal, Great Stuff, Traum, and too many others to name here. It's Florian Meindl with a massive live 2 hour set at Propaganada! Big shouts to the Sullivan Room crew, Sr. Serge, and Gene Meandisco for making this one happen. We guarantee you, you cannot listen to this mix without searching out Florian's music immediately afterwards. Double dog dare ya.And did we mention, we were able to grab Florian himself for an exclusive interview after his gig? Keep it scrollin' (but first click 'play'). ER's Exclusive Interview with Florian MeindlFlorian, thanks so much for joining us here on ElectronicRhythm.com, and for your exclusive live mix for the Underground Movement Show.Let's kick things off with a quick rewind...how'd you get started making music? Was it always something that you pegged as your future creative outlet, or did you get into it by catching DJ's or events when you were younger in Austria? It all began when I was listening to an Austrian Radio channel where they played music I have never hear before, it was progressive house I think and I recorded it on tape and shared it with my friends. I instantly wanted to do own mixes and share them. This way I found a new hobby which makes me happy until today! Later I had gigs in Austrian Clubs and started to produce my own music in the age of 17. My international career though began in the age of 21 after releases on Trapez, Traum and Stil Vor Talent.More of this interview here :https://www.electronicrhythm.com/ums-108-florian-meindl-sullivan-room-series/Florian Meindl LinksFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/florianmeindlartistpageTwitter: http://www.twitter.com/florianmeindlSoundCloud: http://www.soundcloud.com/florian-meindlHome: http://www.florianmeindl.comFLASH Recordings Home: http://www.flash-rec.com

With an epic cross-cultural exchange of the subwoofer, each live act took their beats to the next level on the main floor of the Delancey during this very special event. Reminiscent of the old WARP records days, we were so happy to be able to preserve this epic night for the interwebs of the future - bass flowers bloom. And go BOOM. A couple of our favorite sets and events of the summer - for your eyes and ears only!Tanya & MarlonTanya & Marlon are cousins and best friends since birth, who spent their free time in youth running around the streets of 101RVK like little wildlings, hustlin' candy and breaking out at night to stand outside of venues just to listen to the music. They knew in themselves that one day they would be the ones to make everybody dance & be happy. It all started when they were 12. Old samplers, kids toys, casio keyboards and anything they could get their hands on to serve their free spirits and spaced out imaginations, while still keeping it real. By 15 they had upgraded their equipment and matured in their composition - soon thereafter they began touring America, England and Eastern Europe on a regular basis and they financed these tour adventures by printing their own CDs & selling them at their gigs.Tanya & Marlon LinksHome: http://tanya-marlon.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TnM3n9Moller Records: http://mollerrecords.com/tanya-marlon/

Fresh off his recent gig at Fabric-UK, Owen caught up with us for an exclusive audio interview, where we learned what he's been up to with the Shades (formerly Shades of Grey) label as well as his own genre-busting influences. Known as one of the most wide-ranging selectas in the scene today, Owen shared his outlook on both production and DJ'ing, how he got into the art, and his take on what makes for a good live performance. Click here, fellow underground denizen, for the interview...and then download or stream the real goodies, Owen's raucous live performance from one of the best Rite events of the last few months. Hear here!Owen Howells Bio:It takes drive, gritty determination and passion to stand out in today’s musical climate – but that’s not all. What are also needed are raw musical talent, skill and creativity - the certain attributes that Owen Howells possesses in abundance. The London based DJ, Producer and record label boss is accustomed to putting the hours in needed to shine proudly. Blending classic house rhythms with dense, contemporary shades of sub bass influences, the prolific name in the global electronic music scene is never short of a project or three to keep him busy.Releases on Wunderkammer, Trendy Mullet, Sounds of Juan and his own label Shades (formerly Shades of Grey) galvanise his reputation for being an aspiring producer with many tastes to incorporate. Whether its stepping, snare laced house, or heads down peak time rollers, Owen’s music – both as part of the Shades collective and through his on solo productions – keeps the underground bubbling, in turn catching the eye of many a folk right across the electronic music spectrum and earning support from Mary Anne-Hobbs, Kerri Chandler, MANDY, Gavin Herlihy, Luke Solomon and George Fitzgerald right through to some of techno’s finest innovators and purists such as Eric Cloutier, Voigtmann, Bruno and many more. Maybe that’s why his sheen as a producer earns him regular spots in the Top 10 Beatport charts; or maybe it’s his musical vision of exploring the grey areas and deftly connecting the dots between contemporary electronic music genres, blending a range of tempos and styles to suit the most discerning of dance floors.Owen Howells LinksSoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/owenhowellsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/owenhowellsmusicShades Label: https://www.facebook.com/shadesrecs

We found ourselves in NYC recently with Mr. Abril, joining the Israeli artist as he rolled into the Big Apple on one of its most renowned dance floors, Sullivan Room. Mr. Abril gave an enthralled crowd a signature set with his blend of high-energy platters. Check out his full set and others from the evening on ElectronicRhythm.comMore about Gel Abril:Talking about the new age of techno, Gel Abril a.k.a Roy Brizman has been undoubtedly one of the most present names on the underground movement's lips. Debuting with remixes for Shlomi Aber on labels such as "Ovum" (Freakside) and "Renaissance" (Moods), Gel started building his own profile with original material for his home based label, the Be As One Imprint. Thanks to the success of releases such as "Sparta" - with his fellow rising star from Tel Aviv, Itamar Sagi - and above all his first hit "Very Wrong", Gel soon got into the techno rumble, as testified by the huge support given to his tracks by a worldwide group of top crossover DJ's.In a short period of time, major labels started to keep their eyes on Gel's unique profile and music approach, as testified by Ovum's label boss Josh Wink, who soon signed "The Underground Bullshit" EP. The record instantly hit as a top 10 seller and found its way in every major player's records case, with names such as Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Shlomi Aber, Luciano, Wink and many others. It was the German-based label Get Physical that then took Gel soaring to higher grounds ,with the "Miranda" EP.From the very start of his promising career, Gel has been established as one of the most influential DJ's and producers of recent times, with release upon release becoming an industry trademark. One of his first footprints, "Your Face Is A Mess" on Be As One, has become one of the past winter's biggest anthem. Pushing forward with this wave of success, Gel released an even bigger follow up, the dance floor stormer "Spells of Yoruba / Marir" EP, which once again came out under Shlomi Aber's Be As One Imprint.Recently, Gel remixed Dennis Ferrer's track "Sinfonia Della Notte" on Strictly Rhythm, and Spells of Yoruba has found a release on the mighty Defected label, featured as a single alongside new remixes on top. And te remix Gel did for Slam's "Variance" on Paragraph has been getting massive support from all the top key players in the scene. Meanwhile, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Dennis Ferrer, Agoria and Valentino Kanzyani among others, have all knocked on Gel's door to get his tracks licensed for compilations. As Part of the Be As One label showcase, and as one of the imprint's main artists, Gel has been trotting from the east to west sides of the globe, keeping the musical quality high and the underground musical tradition alive. How did that happen? We were all caught up with our Sundance-London competition entry, but there's still a few easter eggs hidden amongst the ER gardens this spring...none better than the one we've dug up for you today. It's the Ware records founder and legend, Mr. Mathias Schaffhäuser! One of the most highly regarded artists in the German scene, Mathias has spent the better part of the last two decades serving as the driver for his signature brand of emotionally-driven, melodic, and deep techno. As founder of the label Ware and incredibly prolific producer for labels such as Force Inc. Resopal Red, Definitive, Blaou among others, Mathias is rightfully known as a one of the most influential figures in the development of modern electronic music. And we snagged him just for you - check out Diggy's interview with Mathias and learn more about his own background and current take on the electronic music scene in Europe, as well as details on his latest project FANATICO with Jorge Socarras (or how to record an incredible album in less than a week!)....followed by an exclusive audio mix for ER. Can't get better than More about Mathias Schaffhäuser:Schaffhäuser's motto at the turntables is: Purism sucks! The quality of the music is what's important, not sheer functionality and a perfect mix. That is: at times his sets can be rather varied from Ware-style music, nice + smooth neo-house and funky minimal to thumping techno. His current favourites come from labels such as Prologue, Islands & Islets/Sthlm, Deep Data, Cynosure, Snork, 3rd Wave, Mobilée, Vakant, Circus Company - just to name a few. From our humble beginnings in our little Queens studio all the way to entering competition at Sundance London, it's been an incredibly positive experience sharing our love of the New York electronic music underground with you.And what better way to celebrate our centennial - to thank you, the lovers of this special music worldwide, our dedicated audience and partners in crime - than by sharing the sounds of one of our favorite artists, Lucidflow and Klartraum's Nadja Lind!ER friend Jay Hill of Vive L'House snuck Ms. Lind into the country recently for her FIRST-EVER performance in New York. Nadja took a rapturous, (literally) glowing body-paint splashed crowd on a two-hour journey, grooving through a massive set of her own tracks and exclusive material in the basement of National Underground, with incredible support from DJ's Crybaby, Danielle Nicole, and Jay.We were on hand to capture the festivities, and were also able to grab Nadja before her set for an interview and some espresso action, learning more about her background and influences, favorite production software, thoughts on sampling and pre-produced loops, and even the current state of play for female DJ's and producers in Europe. We couldn't ask for a better show for our one hundredth episode.Watch, listen, and hit us up on Facebook with your feedback. More about Nadja Lind:When it comes to describing Nadja Lind, a dispassionate third person box ticking exercise doesn’t really cut it. Sure, she has the credentials: a DJing career that kicked off on New Years Eve 2003 and has spawned a typically globetrotting calendar, a production career that has seen several works as either a solo artist or with Klartraum production partner Helmut Ebritsch, and the dizzying heights of being co-owner of the Lucidflow imprint with Helmut, a record label which has seriously started to rack up quality releases and remixes, seeing the likes of John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo pluck from the catalogue, a seal of quality like no other. Underground Movement Show - Episode 97 - Gregor Tresher (Archived)

A giddy crowd awaited the Propaganda! crew at the Sullivan Room, and they were not disappointed as Gregor joined forces with ER friend Meandisco to drive incredible back-to-back sets into the minds and souls of the winter massive. Not only do we have their sets in all their molten goodness, but we were also able to snag both Gregor and Meandisco for exclusive interviews! Tune in to learn more about Gregor's history, influences (trust, you will be surprised) and upcoming productions, as well as Gene Meandisco's vibe and upcoming parties with the Sullivan Room Crew. It's in effect, only on the Underground Movement Show...and only on ElectronicRhythm.comMore about Gregor Tresher:Subtlety is not the first word used in connection with most DJs, but there is much more the metier of Germany's Gregor Tresher than simply playing records, as Lights From The Inside attests. In fact, after he completed pre-production on his third full-length, Tresher actually stepped away from the decks for six weeks to clear his head. "DJing is my first profession," he admits. "It's what I love to do and what I have been doing for almost twenty years now, even before before I started to write my own music." In the past two years, the producer of 2008's best-selling Techno track on Beatport ("A Thousand Nights") has aspired to make music he would want to play out. "But for this record, I had the feeling that this shouldn't be my priority." While Lights From The Inside features several songs sure to find favor with Tresher's nightclub colleagues—"Frontline", "Breaking Routines," the giddy "As Days Go By" (recently issued as a single on Josh Wink's Ovum label)—this twelve-song odyssey operates on multiple levels.Just as a painting or photograph appears to move if one stares at it long enough, with close listening the stratified grooves and melodies assembled on Lights From The Inside reveal an organic universe of shifting sound. Meticulous attention to the latter element—melody—was of utmost concern to the Frankfurt resident. Not obvious, eight-bar earworms that would quickly exhaust their welcome, but musical lines that could repeat and intertwine in different patterns, "melodies that are more subtle and develop as you're listening." In this regard, Lights From The Inside harks back to Tresher's earlier releases, even as his aesthetic continues to evolve in new directions.More info : https://www.electronicrhythm.com/ums-97-gregor-tresher/Gregor Tresher Home: www.gregortresher.comFacebook: www.facebook.com/gregortresherofficialSoundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/gregortresher

Chris Schoedel, Matias Jofre, Stephen Eaves, and the House Cartel decided to kick up the flames a notch and burn some holes into our blue suede shoes with their new series of events at Brooklyn's SRB.At what's rapidly becoming one of the go-to spots for underground techno in NYC, we were lucky enough to join the Momentum crew and catch the Parisian legend herself, Miss Kittin! Without further ado, adieu:More about Miss KittinCaroline Hervé, aka Miss Kittin, has over the past years become one of the most inspiring DJs and voices to emerge within the electronic music scene. Alongside long-time production partner The Hacker, tracks such as 'Frank Sinatra' and '1982' propelled them into the spotlight, whilst further collaborations with fellow feline Felix Da Housecat's 'Silver Screen (Shower Scene)' and 'Madame Hollywood', Golden Boy's 'Rippin Kittin', Sven Väth 'Je T'aime', Steve Bug, Antonelli Electric and T.Raumschmiere to name but a few, have confirmed Miss Kittin's star billing status. She released her debut solo artist album 'I Com' in 2004, that showed her spreading her wings with jacking Chicago House, distorted punk attitude, skanked-up Dub and Electronic Pop as the singles 'Professional Distortion', 'Requiem For A Hit' and 'Happy Violentine' so aptly displayed. The heavily-accented deadpan delivery over techno beats that established her notoriety on previous recordings has been unseated by a desire to sing, to scream, to rap and to croon, all of which she manages to do with ample helpings of sly wit and wordplay and a musical landscape that incorporates both brazen beats and intoxicating atmospherics.More info : https://www.electronicrhythm.com/momentum-presents-miss-kittin/Miss Kittin Home: www.misskittin.comFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/misskittinSoundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/misskittinTwitter: https://twitter.com/MissKittinMusicPost with Full Video and Audio Set plus Hi Resolution Download on Electronic Rhythm: www.electronicrhythm.com/momentum-presents-miss-kittin ‎

As we move forward into the new year, we would like to highlight one of our favorite sets which was aired in 2012 by a veteran DJ / Producer Chris Fortier. Chris took the Sullivan Room attendees on a Techno journey full of moody grooves, energetic rhythms, hidden twists and turns which kept everyone on the floor moving! We got up close and personal with Mr.Fortier in the pre-show interview to get a more in depth look at the man who travels the world to play in multiple countries as well as produces great tracks and has them remixed by world renown artists.Chris Fortier Bio:While many people may claim to know Chris’ sound, with their focus on labeling him one thing or another, Chris is equally as focused on his efforts to push back the musical boundaries. It is testament to the man that he continues to develop his sound and musical direction, after all, as the man says himself “I just like to play good underground music, I don’t limit myself. I am growing musically everyday, and the music I create and play reflects that”.It is artists such as Chris Fortier who are inextricably linked to the underground dance music scene that are the genuinely pushing the sound forward. Chris’ determination to continue to push the envelope can be seen in all aspects of his career. Proof of this can be found on his now classic triple CD compilation Balance and his recent solo productions including his stellar debut artist album As Long As The Moment Exits. The Balance 007 CD was a integral part of the now worldwide successful Balance series and brand. The album was a musical forecast of the fresh and exciting underground movement as we know it today. It is little wonder the CD was name checked for compilation of the year by numerous international magazines and websites. Taking his production a step further in 2007, his debut artist album was released to countless plaudits and impeccable praise. Followed by the remix version of the album saw Chris work along side the likes of Joel Mull, Ed Davenport, Mark Broom, Someone Else, Bruno Pronsato, Pheek and Maetrik.Under his 40oz production guise Chris has released the several EPs and remixes that musically spreads comfortably across labels such as Bedrock, Wave Music, Cocoon, Kompakt or Get Physical. Recent remixes of Jim Rivers, Pfirter, Alexi Delano, Adultnapper, Derek Marin, Alland Byallo and John Selway, show Chris’ genre defying sound at it’s underground best. Not satisfied with status quo, Chris looks for the boundaries to continue to be pressed and pushed with each coming musical While many people may claim to know his sound, with their focus on continually labeling him one thing or another, it is artists such as Chris Fortier who are inextricably linked to the underground dance music scene that are the genuinely pushing the sound forward. Chris’s music production and DJing both critically and fan acclaimed success. His debut artist album “As Long as the Moment Exists”, and its remixed version the followed, saw the name Chris Fortier written in Techno’s little black book forever.https://www.facebook.com/DJChrisFortierhttps://soundcloud.com/Chris-Fortier

We hadn't had the opportunity to check out Stephan Bodzin live, and the man from Bremen made sure to make up for lost time. Rounding off the year with one of the best techno sets we've heard, the Hertzblut records owner Bodzin just destroyed a rapt audience @ the Loop - check him out here in all its HD glory, alongside incredible sets from NYC local favorites, Meandisco and Trilogy's own Giovani. Hot chocolate for your ears.STEPHAN BODZIN [Systematic / Herzblut - BREMEN GER]www.facebook.com/pages/Stephan-Bodzin/14923366771www.stephanbodzin.com"Authenticity is everything - without it everything would appear to be nothing more than a hollow shell", says someone who has found himself at the center of the international techno scene since 2006. The passionate musician from Bremen has become a heavy influence for an awful lot of producers worldwide. As the son of an experimental musician his career in the music industry was set from an early age. And it was only a matter of time before Stephan would fall in love with electronic music. Composing music for several prestigious European theaters was the first successful platform for his music. At the same time he discovered his passion for club sounds and increased his efforts in this area. His mind-blowing talent was soon discovered and producers such as Oliver Huntemann, Thomas Schumacher and Marc Romboy queued up to work with Stephan. Due to the quality of his impressive music he has reached the top of the international techno scene. Most recently he has remixed songs for well-known bands such as Depeche Mode, Booka Shade and The Knife. His releases can be found on labels such as Get Physical, Datapunk, Gigolo, Systematic and Giant Wheel. "Throughout my releases and all my collaborations I managed to let my ideas flow freely and to develop my own style" Stephan explains. "I understood that my personal definition of good and bad music is very dynamic and that’s why intuition is so important in this business". He describes himself as a "melody man" - "after all it's the melodies that endure". The responses to his productions seem to confirm this: his sounds are greatly loved in clubs worldwide. DJ Hell himself has dubbed Stephan's tunes as the ground breaking "Bremen sound". It was a logical move to create his own label called "Herzblut" in 2006. As part of the labelconglomerate Plantage 13 he has found the ideal creative framework for his works. His solos productions have done nothing but raise his worldwide profile even more and he now has the freedom of an individual artist with a worldwide audience. "This was a massive step forward", he explains, "I produce music to share it, and I can experience this great feeling in each of my gigs". Stephan's music is as polarizing as he is, both as DJ and live artist. But there's one statement that holds true for all of his productions: they are certainly of the highest 'authenticity'.

On Episode 90 of the Underground Movement Show, we had the pleasure to join Giovani and company as they brought a roster stacked with heavyweights to one of our favorite underground locations in Brooklyn, the House of Yes - with Dela (Mindshake Records), Stephen Barnem (Sleaze, Bluefin), and Markus Mehta (Monique Musique, Circle)For more info, visit: ElectronicRhythm.comDelaBio:His music will undoubtedly suit its playing field - spanning anything from deep and sexy avant house to the jack and bounce of peak hour tech-house or techno. A keen sense for aesthetics and an ability to adapt are what make Dela who he is to this music. Always studying. Always looking forward. And most importantly.. always giving back. Intrinsic in EDM culture since the early-nineties, Dela's deep-rooted passion for music has always been in constant forward-motion. Early appreciations for the sounds and influences of Detroit, Chicago, and Berlin have paved a way for a continual focus on innovation and musical progression. This developing artistic sense has only been matched by his personal determination to grow hand-in-hand with the music itself.Today, as Paco Osuna's label partner for Mindshake Records (based in Barcelona, Spain), Dela finds his passions immersed in the cutting-edge of the world's top techno and house arenas. However it is his love affair with the studio and DJ booth where Dela is able to express these passions artistically. As a producer, his signature concoctions of percussive and groove-based tech house have impressed aficionadi as found on labels like Colombia's 'The Room' and Argentina's 'Pild Records'. As a DJ, his sets have graced dancefloors at noteworthy venues home and abroad... most notably appearing on headlining and featured bills at major institutions, many of which falling on DJ Mag's Top 100 list, like Space - Miami, Beta - Denver, RISE – Boston, Smartbar - Chicago... and several other events, undergrounders, and label showcases throughout the globe, including headlining a night at Denver's 2012 all-American tech-artist themed festival 'The Great American Techno Festival'. As the sole American-ambassador to the sexy, energetic sound that Mindshake has branded worldwide, Dela has been on the move as one the US' most whispered names in tech house.http://www.soundcloud.com/dela-musicawww.mixcloud.com/delawww.mindshakerecords.com

Norwegian DJ & producer Mikkas is flying the Djuma Soundsystem flag solo these days. The spirit of production and DJ style remains the same. That trademark of warm beats and melodies is alive and well both in the studio and on the road. The sound is between tech house, house, disco, and techno, with a lot of personality and humanity involved. This is music, and not just grooves! It's catchy, but still underground and it can entertain a festival going mad, as well as an intimate club.Djuma Soundsystem had a major radio and club hit with "Les Djinns" (the single biggest selling track on beatport.com) and has proved to be much more than a one off, with releases like "This sound", "Atilla", "Small fries", "Zillion lights", "Bipolar", "Blizzard" and "Stoli", on well known indie labels, like Get Physical, Rebirth, Soundz, IO and Tool Room. Based in NYC, Onda's unique style can really be taken and appreciated with his long dj sets where the tracks get a chance to develop and tell their story. We caught up with him when he played a selection of deeper tracks at the art gallery opening of artist Fumero. (http://www.fumeroism.com)Though you will experience a great ride with this mix, it does not fully capture the broad musical tastes of Onda Skillet, where he is also known for throwing down power-driving grooves on the dancefloor. Keep up with Onda Skillet through his appropriate social media links!AeroTropic Music: Onda Skillet's AeroTropic Music expresses his study and use of sound vibration and frequencies in his musical performances. “I research the effects of sound and how they influence us in our environment, depending on the complex symmetry of the vibration thus allowing a new positive influence in the body. For example: the ways sound frequencies vibrate the water molecules in our bodies influence us to feel certain emotions and redefined feelings. In performances, I tune out specific frequencies that vibrate brainwaves to a whole new level of symmetry. Just as essential oils like lavender trigger specific feelings and emotions, I use essential audio complexities to innovate the way we feel.” Onda Skillet’s music is charged with profound emotion, penetrating the inner depths of the soul, and warming even the coldest of hearts. What begins as a time machine journey through your memories, evolves into a constant racing and harmonious vortex of sound.Social Connections:● Website: http://www.ondaskillet.com● Soundcloud: http://www.soundcloud.com/ondaskillet● Mixcloud: http://www.mixcloud.com/ondaskillet● Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/onda.skillet● Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/OndaSkillet● AeroTropic: http://www.soundcloud.com/aerotropic

This week we bring you a live recording during a 4-US-BY-US event at NYC's Z Hotel Rooftop with Mr. Kyle Geiger in the mix. Label owner of Cubera Records which devotes their direction to "a series of productions that carry the melodic presence of the deeper techno sound, while still maintaining the teeth needed for peak hours of the night." Kyle gives us a taste with this week's podcast of what to expect when Mr. Geiger takes control of the decks. We enjoyed the set that evening and we know you will too. Bio:Kyle GeigerCubera///Drumcode///Soma///Droid///Sleaze///Perc TraxHailing from a region known for its basketball and corn, the emergence of an artist from Indiana such as Kyle Geiger is marked as seldom at best. He certainly is no stranger to the international techno arena, with releases on heavy hitter labels such as Drumcode, Soma, Perc Trax, and Droid. Refusing to rest on his laurels, Kyle continues to push the boundaries of his sound through the creation of his own label known as Cubera. Being his brainchild, Kyle has been able to push new musical concepts free of any outside limitations with the end objective being to create a more moody and memorable collection of productions. Kyle is not a producer first, DJ second, but chooses to look at both aspects of DJ and production as a whole; one is not complete without the other. Originally inspired by the harder, percussive stylings the techno sound featured on seminal labels from the late 90's, Kyle has witnessed the evolution of the genre as it morphed into a more accessible, groove based sound. Still loving the energy and power of the more straight forward side of techno while embracing the genre's changes, Kyle has refined his productions and DJ sets into what very well may be a new breed of soundscapes that pushes things forward for the next generation of techno to come.Selected DiscographyUnder Pressure EP - DrumcodeIdentity Crisis EP - DrumcodeNo Release EP - RootsOde to the Elders EP - Perc TraxWrong Turn EP - MB ElektronicsAbsorb EP - Sleaze RecordsImperial EP - Cubera Mimetic Desire EP - CuberaScream EP - CuberaRelentless EP - SomaRitualistic EP - SleazeCollaboration DiscographyKyle Geiger + Jamie Bissmire - Lucky Numbers EP - Driving Forces RecordingsKyle Geiger + Bobby Dowell - Tigerwall EP - DroidKyle Geiger + Bobby Dowell - Memory to Control EP - Driving Forces RecordingsSocial Connections:http://www.kylegeiger.comhttp://www.facebook.com/kylegeigermusichttp://www.myspace.com/kylegeigerhttp://beatport.com/label/cubera-records/22921http://twitter.com/cuberarecordshttp://facebook.com/cuberarecordshttp://www.twitter.com/kylegeiger

This set expresses the many years of dedication to the EDM Scene as Tom plays bangers from current releases to hidden rare gems. We hope you will enjoy this mix and look for the full video recording of his set as well within the Live Player of ElectronicRhythm.com. Bio:Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242, ...At the age of 15, he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW.Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup.During the same period, his old schoolfriend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co-release.And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ...In the same year as I Love Techno, Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world. His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ...In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next 3-4 years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert, Northwest Dynamics, Invasion, Fine Audio, Patterns, Lupp, ...In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff.Guys like Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. Nowadays, the label is more aimed to produce electro-techno tracks and less oriented towards loopy techno sounds.End 2004, they released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stirr all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One @ Pydna were they literally "blew the place to kingdom come" !His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics & Rhythm Convert are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes, more melodic and even sometimes more dramatic music with flavors of techno, minimal, tekhouse and electro.Tom Hades: ● Web: http://bit.ly/pA8xyt● Facebook: http://on.fb.me/olpTkf● Soundcloud: http://bit.ly/n5b2qD● Youtube: http://bit.ly/ooYfZz● Beatport: http://bit.ly/qhBjwe

Ain’t nowhere to go other than forward and take each day as it comes. Namaste.Bio:I was born on the south-west side of Chicago in the suburbs. Raised by a stern father, and a caring mother, I had very little male influence as mainly my family consisted of females. Growing up, I spent more time breaking things and putting them back together. Legos, video-games, and biking was my hobbies. While I never did well in school, I was always a hard worker. Multiple years were spent always working with public service, helping out the community, and learning from my father. From the age of 14, I’ve always had at least 2 jobs. My thirst for electronics, video-games, and other hobbies had to be fueled by my earned money. With my electronics hobbies, and friends that were on my same intellectual level, I got into radio. I set up one of the most powerful CB radio base-stations at the age of 10 in a 30 mile area. As the hunger progressed I started to get into video and audio editing. My friends and I would record videos almost everywhere we went. We set up a crude studio where we mixed VHS, reel-to-reel, cassette, MP3, broadcast radio, Vinyl, VHF radio, police scanner, you name it, we mixed it. Eventually we even set up a multi-mile wide FM transmitter that broadcast around the neighborhood to our own channel.

Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo.John Tejada was born in Vienna, Austria on April 21, 1974. His parents, both professional classical musicians (his mother an opera singer and father a conductor) began his early piano training at the age of 4. In the summer of 1982, John would move with his mother to her place of birth, Los Angeles. It was that summer at the age of 8 another instrument would catch his eye, the drums. Teaching himself to play along to classic rock music, John quickly learned his way around the drum set (an instrument he still plays to this day in his I’m Not A Gun project). Everything changed however when he got his first taste of early 80’s hip hop music. The impact of those early productions and electronic experimentation was very strong. Soon after, at the age of 12 John was given his first set of turntables and a mixer. He wanted to figure out everything he was hearing DJs do at that time. His first gigs came at the age of 12 for his own school, DJing his school dances.Soon after his fascination with DJing began his fascination with production began. Just as he was completely determined to learn the tricks of local DJs, he now wanted to know how the music was made. His introduction came around the age of 15, when he acquired his first looping delay. Soon after came his first workstation, an Ensoniq EPS sampler. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities. John spent every part of his day honing his craft.More info : https://www.electronicrhythm.com/john-tejada-ums-episode-81/http://facebook.com/johntejadaofficialhttp://residentadvisor.net/dj/johntejada

Deepak owns and runs one of NY’s famous Hidden Recordings record label which is known worldwide and gets supported by many great DJs and Producers like Adam Beyer, Perc, Marc Broome and many others. Deepak delivers a great set here recorded on the roof of the Z Hotel and will definetly have you moving to the power driving techno sounds. Enjoy this set and look further through the ElectronicRhythm Live Player to catch his full set.Bio:In the transient world of dance music where DJs come and go, few have the will, patience and devotion to stay relevant in the ever changing landscape of ‘the scene’. Deepak Sharma has carved his own path, and with passion and focus has been able to keep his finger on the pulse as techno continues to evolve.Born in New Delhi, India, but raised State-side, Deepak recalls the early days of his childhood watching and listening to his mother strum the sitar for hours on end. Unbeknownst to him, that sound would have an influence later in life. Deepak found himself gravitating towards a wide range of music from jam bands to hip-hop where strong lyrics and the beat would evoke an impulsive emotion. Throughout all of this was his mantra that music should elicit a response, but still needs to be fun.Fast forward to today, you have one of the most consistent players in techno, from releasing a mix compilation in 2004 that De:Bug Magazine called one of the best mix comps they’ve heard in ages, to traveling globally to DJ, starting his own label Hidden Recordings while collaborating with Germany’s Dieter Krause. Over the past four years, Hidden Recordings has gone from a small digital dream, to a budding international label beloved by thousands throughout the globe. Growing from the duo to releasing artists hailing from Europe, North and South America both vinyl and digitally, further distinguishing Hidden Recordings from the rest.SOCIAL CONNECTIONS:facebook.com/djdeepaksharmaresidentadvisor.net/profile/deepaksharmasoundcloud.com/hidden-recordingshidden-recordings.commyspace.com/deepaksharmamyspace.com/hiddenrecordingsFor Booking Inquiries: [email protected] Recordings Soundcloud Page: // soundcloud.com/hidden-recordingsHidden Recordings Vinyl: // www.juno.co.ukHidden Recordings Digital: // https:beatport.comsign up for newsletter:[email protected]
