I Hold the Great Rack (VIC) ------------------------------- Reuben Lewis - trumpet & electronics Emily Bennet - vocals & electronics Reuben Lewis, from the popping psychedelic jazz collective I Hold the Lion’s Paw, and Emily Bennett, from the landscaping surrealist improvised trio Great rack and empty club reverb, clash in the meta-named duo, I Hold The Great Rack. Lewis hustles on trumpet through an outboard of effect pedals as Bennett speaks her mind via an outdated Korg multi-effects rack.

Great Rack And A HIPPO CO Reverb (2018)
Hippo CO, Canberra 4 April 2018 at 8pm = Neat beats. Fine rhymes. Good times, no, Great times. Emily Bennett + voice / fx Reuben Lewis + trumpet / electronics Simon Milman + bass Luke Glanville + drums ============================================= "Breakbeats and drum'n'bass and warped reggaes and hugely infectious rhythms and odd times and some contemporary jazz polyrhythms (bliss!) and insistent drum grooves that writhed and mutated but never put an accent in a wrong place” - Eric Pozza, Canberra Jazz The artists acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the first owners of the country in which this event takes place, and we recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

"It's Just Not Me" by Great rack and an empty club reverb (2018)
Great rack and an empty club reverb is incredibly good sex that you have no intention of introducing to your family. And why should you? They’re not kind of girl. They are K-Rudd’s stimulus package. Great rack and an empty club reverb is Emily Bennett on vocals and awkward silence, Adam Halliwell on guitar and cosmic flute and Maria Moles on drums and the understudy for Cosette. You can’t really put much more into words.

At Last by Dips (2017)
"At Last" by Harry Warren & Mack Gordon (1942) The foray into to your soirée or the swing to your late evening, Dips are the band you want when the brief says, “Jazz combo” and you’d rather book a DJ who’d happily and discreetly take your request to play Katy Perry. Once Dips serve up an appetising antipasti of jazz and popular favourites, there won’t be any doubt that Katy Perry indeed went to jazz school*. Bring the Dips and we’ll take care of the rest. Vocals and mixing by Emily Bennett Guitar, recording and mixing by Adam Halliwell Drums by Maria Moles Image by Loretta Wilde Special thanks to Michelle Nicolle for steadfast support and the generous use of her chart !

So Fresh; a Dangerous Territory Commission [demo] (2016)
As part of the 2016 You Are Here festival (Canberra, ACT) Live sound by Emily Bennett Light installation by Carrell Hambrick Like many Canberrans, Emily Bennett has extremely vague if not fond recollections of nightclub amenities. In an attempt to figure out how deep those D&Ms really were, she invites you to relieve your bowels as you relive the greatest hits on processed voice and a 1998 Yamaha sampler finally old enough to go out clubbing. As you check yourself out in the mirror, or drop your dacks, update your status to see what your fellow un-underpanted patrons of the porcelain throne have tweeted from the toilet.
