Charles Hodge, one of America's foremost theologians, founded the Princeton Review (originally 'Biblical Repertory') in 1825. Hodge took the opportunity to respond to many controversial issues in his day, touching theology, biblical interpretation, church controversy, missionary activity and social issues. The articles in this volume were collected by Hodge in 1857. Each section begins with a footnote stating the date of publication and the material to which he is responding.As with all historical texts, the language used in this volume should be interpreted within the context of the entire work and the cultural context of its publication.
