EUROPEAN CONNECTIONS

This podcast comes from the connections  generated  between Istituto Comprensivo Sacconi in Tarquinia (Italy) with different schools in Europe: Estonia; Czech Republic; France; Portugal; Lithuania; Spain; Greece... and many more countries in the future. The students, using English as a key language, discover each other's culture and tradition, suggest new perspectives and collect information, share experiences, find different ways to participate to their new friends' everyday life and build relationships... they are more motivated and study to get to  tangible objectives.

    Leonardo da Vinci has always attracted the students' fantasy: his studyings and his inventions have proved, through the centuries, the genius ability to carefully observe the natural phenomena and the important solutions he proposed to overcome the difficulties his contemporaries found impossible to face.His genius wandered from poetry to painting, to engineering and building startegies. His flying machines  have a fascinating charme and they are valid yet. All together, studying his solutions might enrich our students today....

    Two boys have worked around a very famous influencer who had to revise her targets during last year: Ms Chiara Ferragni.Plenty of youngsters are infuelced by these characters and they are convinced that life can give you all the best with a relly small effort, money comes from everywhere and no effort is asked to reach one's own targets....This is not true and the Ferragni late events in life are a testimony of it.

    Two girls are dealing with Enzo Ferrari and his ideas about racing cars, producing them and organizing international competitions. His life was dedicated to his Scuderia and plenty of people admired his cars. He was successful but his life was filled by different difficult moments. He had to evercome  personal tragedies as well as the loss of some important colleagues who had helped the growth of his activities.

    Interviewing a genius living in the past might be challenging... but Angela was able to give him a good voice and answered all the questions her Spanish friend asked. They awakened our students' curiosity and studying the past became easier than before.

    Impossible interview to Maria Montessori

    Some of the students were really interested in education and began to  reflect on Maria Montessori, the Italian pedagogist, first doctor in Italy, who upset the education methods and placed the child at the centre of the experience, the teacher was only a director, preparing a stimulating environment which would give the child a strong sense of awareness and self-confidence.

    Impossible interview to BEBE VIO 2026

    The Italian students in Istituto Comprensivo Sacconi and their friends from Santa Maria de Huerva in SPAIN, have cooperated to produce some impossible interviews.They start  dealing with Bebe Vio, a fantastic champion who loves fencing but also running and dancing. She is a super-girl who has changed many people's lives with her good disposition, her  humor and her strength.Plenty of disabled children are following her example and try to overcome their disabilities, finding new targets... a new life!

    A conversation about schools

    Going to school might be a very tiring duty.The students are curious to know how their new friends' school day is organized, if their lessons are more varied or better distributed and if the rules to follow in their school are lighter or less imposing.Each one discovers that no school is free of rules. Some of the students feel the rules light while others consider the same extremely heavy and cumbersome!!!

    Food is always an interesting topic... Italian and Polish culinary traditions

    Food is always a good topic to deal with, some students are really eager to know more about the eating habits of their new friends... being far from home implies the necessity to adapt and discover new flavors, dishes and smells. Sometimes these changes might be challenging.Some teenagers find it difficult to adapt and taste new specialities while others are looking for new experiences... let's enjoy their conversations!

    Talking about personal lives is always the simplest way to find a connection: students have a limited number of common experiences, they try to find the common fields and build their relationship from there... It is quite cklear listening to their conversations! Enjoy!

    Mobility in Czech Republic part 2

    Knowing Prague, its history and its landmarks,was a deeply touching experience. The students enjoyed discovering the town with their new friends and tasted some of the delicatessen of the place.Most of them will keep really deep memories of this experience and are grateful for the attentions they received. Opening their minds to different cultures, habits and organizations will help the students understand how important it is to share and compare, to grow and improve.

    Mobility in Czech Republic part 1

    For the sudents coming from IC SACCONI who went to visit Czech Republic, the mobility was an enjoyable experience and they keep amazing memories of it.The students had previously met the Czech ones during their visit to Tarquinia, so their  meeting again and staying together was more relaxed and fruitful. The families and the teachers report a positive and fruitful experience which contributed to increase the motivation to study and improve the students' personal skills. These results were specially evident for the most reserved and shy students.

    Informal chats with the Lithuanian students.

    During the Erasmus+ projects activities performed for the 2024-1-IT02-KA121-SCH-000221174, a group of students and teachers visited Lithuania and were hosted by  the families of students from the Vytauto Didziojo universiteto klasikinio ugdymo Mokykla in KAUNAS. They spent a very interesting and amazing time there with their new friends. Their staying together  meant to open their minds and hearts to new experiences, a different series of habits and a new culture,  different lessons style and a new organization... their chats are recorded here....

    Geometry in action

    During this school year (24_25) in IC SACCONI plenty of projects were completed. One of the first was GEOMETRY IN ACTION  aimed at producing some hands-on activities, helping understand and memorize simple geometry and its basic rules... Some students could try and enjot these activities, some others couldn't but they were curious...  You can hear some of the dialogues which took place in the corridors of the school...

    In class 2E some students have debated comparing different school systems, looking for the best one to help a student reach his targets.Some of the students were considering a school model which allows you to choose the subjects to study, the more compliant ones with the future specializing study path each single student decides to follow.The other group of students considers it important  to have a variety of subjects which allow you to speculate and widen your general knowledge, which gives you the chance to increase your awareness of the world laws, on top of the basic knowledge you need to  achieve your goals...Interesting!! Don't you think so?
