    #37 - Suffering

Suffering in life is unavoidable. But who do you turn to and how do you handle yourself when life comes to it? Does the Bible say you won’t suffer? (No it doesn’t. Sorry…)In this episode, we have a closer look at the story of Joseph and some of his sufferings (we skip the coloured coat 🧥 and all the music 🎵) and we see how the bigger picture played out. Suffering can be a big topic and a hard one. We hope and pray this is useful for you wherever you are and whatever you’re doing. Izzie’s questions at the end are:- Why do you think God allows suffering?- Have you ever gone through suffering that changed your faith and can you explain why?- How do you think a Christian should respond when life gets really hard?- How do you keep trusting God when things feel unfair in your life?- What Bible passages or stories particularly helped you in difficult times?📕Romans 5. ⛓️Joseph. ❌ Suffering

Depression is something a lot of people go through—but hardly anyone talks about it. In this episode, Izzie sits down with pastor Dan, and has a real, honest conversation about depression, mental health, faith and wow what a conversation it is…We talk about why it’s not a sign of weak faith, and how believing in God doesn’t magically make hard feelings disappear. Instead of giving “quick fixes,” this episode focuses on understanding, compassion, and hope—both for yourself and for the people around you.Sometimes faith doesn’t mean feeling better right away. Sometimes it just means taking the next small step—and that’s okay.Wherever you are with your mental health, this conversation is for you, but it could also help for a friend. 🧠 Mental health. 😁 I am well pleased. 🤝 Community. Also Dan recommended some things to read off the back of hs episode… Hope they help!- Gentle and Lowly (or The Heart of Jesus) by Dane Ortlund- Reasons to stay alive - Matt Haig- I had a black dog- Psalm 13- Psalm 88

So where does God fit into all of that? And is “just delete the apps” actually the answer? No guilt. No shaming. Just honest conversation, (hopefully?) practical wisdom, and a reminder that faith was never meant to compete with a screen—it’s meant to shape the way we use it.Hit play if you’ve ever said “five more minutes” and meant thirty. 😅📱Screen time. ✝️Faith in real life. 🎂 Faith for Dummies (aka us) Birthday.

ABOUT THIS SHOW

🎙️Join two youth leaders with bad jokes and good intentions, as we chat about the ups and downs of life as a teenager today. We’re here to share a bit of wisdom (we hope🤔), offer honest advice, and hopefully give you a great listening experience...?Each week we also share our “dummy moment” – a funny, cringe or just plain silly moment from the week. No dummy moment? No problem – we’ve got a lifetime of them to pull from!New episodes drop weekly – follow us, leave a comment, or get in touch at [email protected] yes, we’re on Instagram📸 Follow us @faithfordummiespodcast
