"The King has Goat's Ears" a folk tale we used to explore "shame" in our lives as men. Recognizing that our focus is often on ourselves and we need to be aware of the greater world of our family. After being close with your wife does a fight ocuur to undermine the intimacy you had expereinced? All of these themes may be important to discuss in your own father's group or to refelct on yourself.

How often do we share our feelings of apreciation for our wives with them. We discussed the theme of " how we think" about positive feelings toweards our wives but often don't express them.

How often does our child see us expressing joy? This is the first meeting of February for group 1.

This is the second session of the month for the Men’s Group for Fathers 2. I talk about commitment to the group and personal issues that may influence our fathering and parenting. It is important to be aware that many of the issues in our lives as men impact our fathering and parenting. Making room in the group for men to discuss a wide range of feelings about themselves is important to our development as fathers.

In recognition of the "new father" of our country I read a letter President Obama wrote to his daughters about why he is doing what he is...being their dad and being President. It lead our group into our aspirations for fundamental change in the way we view each other...that we are all in this together (the current economic crisis is just part of it) but we all want to live in a world where we can help each other out. There is a wonderful story that one of the dads brings to the group about this theme of "how we care for each other."

This is my second podcast about the themes from the ongoing Fathers' Forum dad's groups. This group has six men in it and meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Again, like the first meeting of Group 1, we too are start off the New Year with a discussion about our hopes in the upcoming year.

This is the first podcast for 2009 for the Men's Group for Fathers that meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. There are seven dads in the group. Since I am just getting started with podcasting these first "shows"...are just synopsis of what went on thematically in this evening's group.  I believe the podcasts will evolve as time goes on and I get a better feeling for the medium. Here is how the New Year started off.
