902. Fearlessly Failing: 108 Days to Form a New Habit
108 DAYS - why its a biggieI've almost hit 108 days of meditation and my naturopath Jad reminded me that its a spiritually significant number.. here's a couple of reasons why: In yoga, 108 is a sacred number that represents wholeness, transformation, and our connection to the universe. Its meaning has been woven through centuries of spiritual tradition, reminding us that every breath, movement, and intention is part of something greater.A traditional mala holds 108 beads, guiding mantra meditation one prayer at a time, and many yogis honor life's transitions by practicing 108 Sun Salutations—a moving meditation that invites release, renewal, and presence. There is also a beautiful cosmic connection: the average distance from Earth to the Sun is about 108 times the Sun's diameter, and the average distance from Earth to the Moon is about 108 times the Moon's diameter. While these are approximate relationships, they have long inspired the idea that the same patterns found in the heavens are reflected within us.Whether you see 108 as sacred geometry, ancient wisdom, or a symbolic reminder of our place in the cosmos, it invites us to return to ourselves—again and again—with intention, devotion, and an open heart. So if this resonates with you, how about you set the goal of a micro habit for 108 days consecutively? Let me know how you go! Big LoveLola Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

900. Fearlessly Failing: 12 Questions to Ask your Partner!
Righto - today's ep is 12 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PARTNERWe have hit a massive milestone today: Episode 900! 🎉 And to celebrate, I am bringing you an incredibly special, deeply personal, and high-vibe episode. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you already know the massive news… after almost nine beautiful years together, we officially got ENGAGED earlier this year! 💍✨Stepping into this brand-new chapter has us reflecting on everything it takes to go the distance as a couple. Love isn't a destination; it's a constant, beautiful discovery. Whether you are on date number three, navigating the early years, or sitting at year nine like us, the secret to keeping the spark alive is staying curious about the person sitting across from you.So in today's episode, we are skipping the small talk and diving straight into the deep end. Grab your partner, pour a cozy drink, and use these 12 deep-diving questions from today’s show to map out your own path, strengthen your connection, and see how well you really know each other:This was such a fun one to record, but shout out and thank you to Teddy Bell from https://www.marriedbyateddy.com/ who kindly gifted us these conversation cards. Here are the 12 questions we unpacked today:If we could live anywhere in the world for a year after the wedding, where would you choose and why? What does our "perfect ordinary day" look like to you?If our love story were a film, what genre would it be?What part of our future excites you the most right now?If we wrote a letter to ourselves to open in 10 years, what would you hope it says? What personal dream of yours feels closer now that we're getting married? If we had no limits: time, fear, money - what would you most want us to experience together? How do you imagine us growing - individually and together - over the next 5 years? What does "a good life" actually mean to you? What do you hope never changes about us?Tell me something about you that people often misunderstand? What part of your personality are you most proud of?This Week's Listener Challenge: Don't read these questions to each other ahead of time! It was so fun flying blind in these questions, less thinking and more just being in the moment. Sit down tonight, hit record on your phone just for yourselves, and answer them completely raw and unedited. You might be surprised by what you learn! We absolutely loved it! If you liked this ep and you want another just like it, let me know, there's a lot more questions in this deck of cards.Connect with the Show: Enjoyed this episode? 898. Fearlessly Failing: Finding Your Dharma
Righto - We have a Solo ep today! We're talking all things: DHARMA Ever feel like you’re doing everything "right" on paper, but you still feel strangely disconnected? 🌀 In today’s episode, we are diving deep into the yogic concept of Dharma—your unique cosmic blueprint and life purpose. Spoiler alert: It’s not just a job title. Finding your purpose isn't about creating something new from scratch; it’s about remembering who you have always been. Grab a journal, find a quiet space, and use these five deep-diving questions from today's episode to map out your own path:1. The Focus CheckThe Question: What do people consistently ask you for help with? The Reflection: We are often blind to our own zone of genius because it feels easy to us. Look at your text messages and your friendships—what is the specific energy or skill the world naturally seeks from you?2. The Heartbreak CompassThe Question: What is a specific problem in the world that moves you to tears or makes your blood boil? The Reflection: Dharma is rarely just fluffy, happy thoughts; it is often born out of a holy frustration. Your purpose is intimately tied to something you feel called to heal, fix, or protect.3. The Envy DecoderThe Question: Whose life or career do you secretly envy, and why?The Reflection: Don't shame yourself for jealousy, just decode and understand it. Envy is actually a map showing you your own unlived potential. Are you jealous of their bank account, or are you actually craving their creative freedom?4. The Inner Child ClueThe Question: Before the world told you who you had to be to survive or pay bills, what did you do for pure joy?The Reflection: Go back to your ten-year-old self. Your younger self knew exactly what your energy was meant for before adult expectations took over. What did you lose track of time doing?5. The Truth BombThe Question: If you keep living the exact lifestyle you lived this past week for the next 10 years, what will you regret most? The Reflection: Shakedown your own complacency. Don't let your comfort zone become the graveyard of your potential. What is the thing you will wish you had started today? I'm all about having no regrets, and this question cuts right through to the core. This Week's Listener Challenge: The 3-Day Static Cleanse:For the next three days, wake up 15 minutes earlier. Before checking emails or scrolling social media, sit in morning silence with your journal. Clear out everyone else's opinions so you can finally hear your own intuition speak.Connect with the Show:Enjoyed this episode? Hit Subscribe and leave a 5-star review! 894. LA Friday Diary
Welcome back to your Friday Diary!Righto, here’s the cliff notes of the past 7 days in LADid a fun seggie on KTLA talking Summer Electrolyte Recipes (see my last substack for all the recipes)Ps. I ended up wearing a frock I bought almost 20 years ago in Sydney! I wasn’t sure it would work, but it did! Rapt! After TV Matt took me out for a celebratory lunch date at All Time in Los Feliz, I’m more plant based nowadays with my lowering cholesterol journey, so i went for their Good Ass salad and added avo. Very good, fresh summery salad with grapefruit and sweet peas. Boss got the burger and old me would have got their brekkie burrito which is off the chain good!Looked after little Lennon gal - the guide dog puppo that we’re co-fostering, she was a dream to look after, we miss her so we’re excited to have her again this weekend. She has guide dog puppy kindie tomorrow!Went for a walk around Echo Park lake today, def pop it on your LA list, you can ride swan boat on the lake, its also just sweet to walk around or have a picnic. Today there were heaps of cygnets (baby swans) which were very cute and fluffy balls of energy. What didn’t know was that adult male swans are called cobs, and adult females are called pens.Just got an audition for a Chrissy movie, so i’ll work with my dialect coach to get that American accent feeling strong before i put it on tape. Love me anything festive so really excited for that one!I’ve been put on hold for a poddy too, so that could be fun, as a guest so i wouldn’t need to prep a think, being interviewed is loads easier than doing the asking! So if it happens, i think it will be a fun one!I’ve officially hit 80 days of meditation in a row, keen to keep going, i have that 100 day mark in my sights now!And now i’m off to Larchmont to meet my buddy for a coffee at a ripper coffee place called Go Get Em Tiger! Its a coffee chain all over LA but the coffee is solid, keep an eye out for it if you’re ever in Los Angeles.Righto, thats it from me, mega love!Lola x Hosted on Acast. 889. Fearlessly Failing: The Cholesterol Fix
The Cholesterol Fix: Righto fam, my nutritionist cap is going back on! In a nutshell I got my cholesterol tested back in Australia in Jan and it was pretty darn high, enough to scare me into action, it was 8.3 total cholesterol and my LDL (thats what people often refer to as the bad cholesterol) was 5.7 so i saw my trusty naturopath Jad and got a plan in place before retesting again 4 months later. So in this episode we unpack the results but also the changes i made to significantly reduce my levels! In this chat we'll cover: Beyond the Numbers and why functional tests are and important part of the pictureWhat's ApoB and Lp(a)The Cholesterol Conversation (whats LDL and how does it work) Heart Health Simplified (simply dietary tweaks to support your cardiovascular system)The LDL Lowdown The Cholesterol Turnaround (how we can use our diet and lifestyle to help guide our cholesterol) Big Love, hope you love this health style wellness ep!As always, reach out on insta @yummololaberry if you have thoughts about this episode or want my naturopaths details, he's amazing!Lola x Hosted on Acast. 888. Friday LA Diary
LA UPDATE:No acting auditions this week, just two availability checks - one for a commercial audition that was looking for a podcast host, so that would have been a fun one. The other was a background availability check for Baywatch, which is shooting in Venice Beach, but i had a podcast already booked in so I couldn’t do that one. Actually one audition came in right before i recorded this! So i'll be self taping that right after this recordingSince was last spoke i’ve recorded 4 pods; one with a bravery expert, one with a shark conservationist, one with an actor and today I recorded a health episode all around lipid profiles and cholesterol. The Bravery one came out on Monday, here’s a couple of take aways:To be successful, you need to grow. To grow, you need to face discomfort.Discomfort and growth are two sides of the same coinTo be brave is to be willing to face discomfortBravery is contagiousWe also saw the new Mando & Grogu film a The Chinese Theatre on IMAX and it was unreal! Highly recommend and kiddo friendly too! After that we had a date night at Musso & Frank the iconic LA spot thats been open since 1919, we had a gin martini with a twist and shared broccolini, a steak and some chippies. It did not disappoint. You can take photos in the restaurant but its got this old Hollywood feel to it, in fact I think they filmed scenes from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Studio there too! We’ve also been going through all the fostering steps and approvals for Guide Dogs of America (GDA) to foster a little girl, we had our house check yesterday, we attended a GDA meeting last weekend and we have our final interview today, wish us luck!Big LoveLola x Hosted on Acast. 886. Fearlessly Failing: Bravery Expert - Jill Schulman
Can we become more brave? And if so, how? Meet Jill Schulman: a former USMC Officer (for the Aussie listeners that means; Marine Corps) and expert in positive psychology with a background in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In her book, The Bravery Effect, Jill explores how embracing bravery as a core strength can fuel personal growth, success, and well-being. Jill has gifted us all a free audio copy of her book: you can download it here for free: https://app.helloaudio.fm/feed/4bf2a5e6-5918-469d-ac35-2c73cdbab058/signupthis chat will feel like a pot of hot coffee, first thing in the morning and make you want to tick off everything on your goal list. Jill describes discomfort and growth as two sides of the same coin. And explains, that to be successful, you need to grow. And to grow, you need to face discomfort. We talked about building a habit of being brave. We also deep dive fear and why we shouldn't be running from it, but instead leaning into the fear and and move forward, despite it. Loads of takeaways in this chat, its a goodie!Big LoveLola x Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

853. Fearlessly Failing: New York, New York
48 HOURS in NYC:Righto, straight off the bat i should tell you something about me, although i have 4 virgo’s in my chat, i’m a Sagittarius rising which means i love adventures and on top of that i’m a 5 in numerology which is the number who needs to travel to expand and feel free. So, when the offer came through to go to NYC for the world premiere of Dutton Ranch (a new Yellowstone spinoff) you know we had to say yes. Here’s how we spent 48 hours in NYC:7AM flight out our LAX (pro tip book a car or driver in advance, it saves so much time and hassle). We also saw a coyote on our way to the airport at 5AM which felt like a lucky omenWe flew LAX to Newark in New Jersey (because its closer to the West Side of NYC), handy flying hack, because JFK gets super busy and can be tricky with traffic depending on time of the day!Soon as we got to our hotel (Hotel Belleclaire) we dropped our bags, put on our walking shoes and headed to Zuckers for a bagel. I got the GF lox and Boss always gets this ruben style bagel with sauerkraut and cheese. Then we explored central park, The Dakota apartment building where John Lennon lived. Lots of notable celebrities have lived there from Lauren Bacall to Paul Simon. It was one of the first luxury apartments in New York, built in 1884. This is an apartment building that you can’t really rent at as each apartment is owned, ranging from 5-25 million!Theres also a part of Central Park called Strawberry Fields which is dedicated as a memorial spot to John Lennon, theres an amazing “Imagine” mosaic too, def worth a visit. Then we headed home, got ready to meet up with our friend Craig for a cocktail. We checked out a place in the Upper West Side called Wallace Lounge. it was lovely, we had a couple of martinis, lots of fun to catch up with a mate who’s out here living their dream. The next day we wanted to get to Times Square. But first Matt found a French patisserie and bought me coffee in bed, it felt like such a treat to sit in bed and plan out adventures for the day out.We got the metro (subway) from West 72nd street to 42nd street which took us to Times Square, where we found giant billboards of Dutton Ranch, i took a zillion snaps! Then we got another bagel because its NYC, this time i got smashed avo, tomato and cappers. With everything seasoning, it was delish!Next up, it was time to don on our best Western gear and head to the premiere. It was all so fancy, the red carpet felt like this awesome installation. Then out the front of the cinema there were little activations of Ranches and even the popcorn was branded Dutton Ranch. We got to watch the first episode (which was unreal), and Beth and Rip came into the cinema and thanks everyone for coming so it was a real treat. Its offical out May 15th on Paramount Plus! Then when it was over Matt wanted a late night slice of pizza and we headed home to bed.The next day I met a mate early for coffee at a place called Black Press, then boss and I went for a stroll at Central park before meeting more friends for coffee. Then we dashed back to our hotel, packed up and checked out, we still have a few hours before our flight so naturally we grabbed another bagel! Then we walked through Central park to the Upper East Side to get to the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum where we saw an exhibit called The Art of Noise, it was really cool and right up Matt’s alley. They had this immersive music room, that was my fave.then it was back to the hotel to make a mad dash for the airport, tip, traffic in NY is unpredictable so give more time than you think! We got home a touch before midnight last night, so there you have it 48 hours (or so) in the city that never sleeps, New York.Lola x Hosted on Acast. So, when the offer came through to go to NYC for the world premiere of Dutton Ranch (a new Yellowstone spinoff) you know we had to say yes.Now it took a little convincing to get Matt on board. You probably know this already but NYC isn’t cheapest city to visit. So i did some points hacking on found a hotel right near the theatre the premiere was happening and a week before the event we pulled the trigger and booked flights and accom in New York! Here’s how we spent 48 hours in NYC:7AM flight out our LAX (pro tip book a car or driver in advance, it saves so much time and hassle). 847. Fearlessly Failing: We are Back - With a new Podcast Home!
Righto, time of a little update. Also let's welcome the Bosso (aka Matt Sofo aka my lovely fiancé) back to this pod!First of all; there’s news from the Fearlessly Failing pod camp, and we’ve moved homes. After almost 4 years at iHeart Australia we have officially moved to our new home Acast. It’s called migration when you change pod homes like this, and amongst the drama of it all, our pod disappeared from Apple Podcasts, so after 7 days of searching for a lost pod it's officially back, Apple Support saved the day and restored the some 850 episodes. So it’s with excitement and a fresh new pod zest that i’m excited to bring you along for the ride. Eps will drop in the same order: Monday long form, Wednesday hot seat and Friday LA diary. And you can listen wherever you like to listen to pods.Next up; we saw an Aussie movie today. it’s getting a U.S. release and its called Kangaroo Island, it’s all shot in South Australia. Wowee this one is a stunner of a film but its def a tear jerker, so pack your tissues. It tackles grief, death, family dynamics and voluntary euthanasia. Just so you’re walking in prepared. It is so beautiful but also confronting and heart warming at the same time. This week i’ve been lucky enough to tape 3 acting auditions, one was really fun. Here’s the thing though, i’ll never know how it was received unless i get a call back, so when i hit send i try not to give it another second of thought.I also sent off a book pitch, if you’re new to my page you may not know that aside from acting and podcasting i’m also a nutritionist and have written 11 health and wellness books. So i’ve popped my nutrition cap back on in a sense for this book idea, so the pitch has been sent, fingers and toes crossed. Not that, unlike an audiuton i probably will think about again, because publishers are usually so lovely with letting you know if they thing an idea has legs or not.Righto, onto the meditation: I set myself a goal to do 30 days of meditation in a row. Here’s how it went, now I was pretty resistant if I’m honest, I’m that annoying person who always thinks they’re time poor. Terrible excuse I know, but that was mine. With all that said, here’s what I’ve learnt:- some meds are better than others (meds = meditations)- some days I feel like a whimsical fairy when i meditate and other times I feel like I’m simply making a list of all the things that have annoyed me that day (no surprises if you know me, I have 4 Virgos in my chart)- it’s a wonderful circuit breaker- it’s made me realise how much unnecessary stress and worry I hang onto- it’s given me the space to process things- it’s helped me walk into stressful situations feeling more grounded- it doesn’t mitigate fear but it definitely helps me welcome fear and the lessons it can bring- am I going to continue? Hack yeah! New goal: 60 days in a row!ps. totally seperate to mediating, i built my own website. I know - crazy right! I did it with the help of AI and honestly, it took me about 3 days and thats just because i’m a control freak, i reckon you could make one in half a day! Here’s my wesbite if you want to have a squizz: lolaberry.comRighto, thats it from me!Big love from La La Land! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
