Act 32: EEEEEEYUCK | The Drama Review

Today on Fictionally Unstable, we sat through the newest A24 film The Drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. And honestly we give the actors an A+, for making Charlie the biggest lil b*tch we've ever endured and Rachel public enemy #1. Chime in on this conversation-sparking test of a movie, but be careful. We listen, and we DO judge.

  8. 50

Act 23: "Sorry To This Man" - Keke Palmer | The 'Burbs Review

To quote Ms. Keke herself, "I hate to say it, I hope I don't sound ridiculous, I don't know who this man is. Sorry to this man." Today on Fictionally Unstable, we're left with complete memory loss as we recall zero details, characters, or memorable scenes of the newest Peacock series, The Burbs. We were influenced to give it a watch after our trip to Universal Studios, but we won't be so easily influenced again after this one. I guess it just wasn't for us...sorry!

  32. 26

Chapter 8: Full House of Trauma & Trash | The Intruder Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we’re creeping into The Intruder by Freida McFadden. We give our ratings, stack it up against our other beloved McFadden thrillers, and discuss where it falls in her rapidly growing universe of messy families and chaotic twists. We unpack the long-term damage of the parental negligence and abuse Ella faces and how childhood trauma doesn’t magically disappear just because the story says “years later." And since this is a judgment-free zone (except when it’s not), we also fully side-eye the mother’s hoarding habits, because at some point...you're just nasty. Tune in and join our thriller talk!

  33. 25

Act 13: Morrible Said "Here Comes the Hurricane, Witch" | Wicked: For Good Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we have a SPOILER-FILLED chat about Wicked: For Good! We discuss that cringy love scene caused by Elphaba's raggedy ass cardigan, the crazy eyes serenade sang by Fiyero, the top tier comedian that Ariana Grande is, and the unexpected voguing skills of Madama Morrible. Pop off miss girl, 10s across the board. We rank the entire soundtrack, which didn't take long with this underwhelming playlist...and finish off with a quiz that determines with 100% accuracy which Wicked character we are! (No matter what Maciel says, the quiz doesn't lie.)

  36. 22

Act 12: The Real Joker? An American Version | Alice in Borderland S3 Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we dive BACK into Alice in Borderland for Season 3. We give our rankings of Seasons 1 through 3, and if you ranked Season 3 as anything but last...you're wrong. Period. We drag Usagi for being the reason Arisu has to save everyone yet again, and applaud Arisu for doing so like it's his full-time job. And just when we thought we could relax, the finale hits us with our biggest nightmare: the threat of an American version. We chat about our comparisons to season 1, if our favorite characters of this series have changed, and how tf Niragi has managed to piss us off for yet another season. Tune in for laughs, confusion, and overall frustration with these Face Card bosses.

  38. 20

Act 10: Hearts, Clubs, and Chaos | Alice in Borderland S1 Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we chat about the Japanese thriller series, Alice in Borderland (Season 1). From life-threatening games to the character deaths that ripped us apart, we’re breaking down all the moments that made this show so wildly thrilling. We give our personal ratings, argue about which card suit game we’d actually survive (but honestly, probably none), and imagine how long we’d last before our visas run out. An emotional, chaotic, and unhinged rollercoaster of a series...just how we like it.

  39. 19

Act 9: Family...The Real Exorcist | The Conjuring: Last Rites Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we have our very first guest host! Our good friend Liz (@laydeeliz) joins us as we review The Conjuring: Last Rites. Or as we'd retitle it, The Conjuring: End Game. And spoiler, our ratings were...low. We break down how the Warrens somehow defeat their demon with the power of family, while a possessed mirror's attack move happened to be a pirouette. Meanwhile, Tony the son-in-law proves that no supernatural force is more dangerous than his ability to pull the car up front. Tune in for the not-so-spooky vibes this Halloween week!

  40. 18

Chapter 6: The Deadliest Trial...Ophelia's Skirts | Phantasma Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we dive into Phantasma by Kaylie Smith and discuss everything from Ophelia’s dramatic wardrobe choices to the deadly, and not so deadly, trials she faces. We unpack her speed-run romance with Blackwell (is it really true love or is it just trauma bonding), and Ophelia’s sudden discovery of her...magical bedroom preferences. Join us as we break down our ratings of the novel, our thoughts on the characters, and why we’re cautiously optimistic that book two, Enchantra, might actually give us the kinda love story we were craving.

  41. 17

Act 8: A Codependent Nightmare | Together Review

In this week’s episode of Fictionally Unstable, we chat about the movie Together, starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie. We talk "psychological" horror, toxic relationships, and how Together manages to make codependency the scariest part of this film. Although the acting was top tier, that cursed school bathroom scene really did it for us (we’re still deeply disturbed). We break down the moments that actually worked, the scenes that flopped, and why watching two people literally melt together might not be the metaphor for love we needed.

  42. 16

Chapter 5: 7 ½ Deaths of our Brain Cells | The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we read The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. We’re left with fried brain cells, time-loop trauma, and about six too many personalities to keep track of. (We apologize in advance for whatever chaos Lauryn managed to piece together.) Join us as we attempt to unravel this murder mystery featuring body swaps, existential dread, and the literary equivalent of hitting “shuffle” on your protagonist. Was it genius? Maybe. Were we confused? Constantly. Did we enjoy it? …We think so? Strap in for 45 minutes of chaos, Jess getting frustrated trying to hold everyone together, and Maciel asking “And who is [literally any character’s name] again?” about twenty times. Spoilers, mild screaming, and very little resolution ahead. Good luck!

  43. 15

Act 7: Best Comedy of 2025 | Weapons Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we dive into the cinematic chaos that is Weapons, directed by Zach Cregger - a film that left us hysterically laughing and questioning everything we thought we knew about modern horror. We give our personal ratings (gold star for Jess, our horror genre avoidant), plot twists we absolutely didn’t see coming, and James - the unexpected MVP of the entire film. Tune in as we unpack the madness, the brilliance, and the moments that made us pause and whisper, “Wait…what?”

  44. 14

Act 6: Blues & Bloody Dance Battles | Sinners Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we break down the chaotic film that is Sinners directed by Ryan Coogler - from bloodthirsty Irishmen, soulfully complex characters, to that freaky scene between Mary and Stack (you know what...you better work Hailee Steinfeld). We give our overall ratings, and dive into the surprising symbolism woven throughout the madness: religion, redemption, power, temptation...and did we mention vampires doing jigs around a fire? Let's get into it!

  45. 13

Act 5: Couch, Couch, Couch | Kpop Demon Hunters Review

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we’re reviewing Netflix’s Box Office NUMBER 1 film, K-Pop Demon Hunters. We talk about our favorite members of Huntrix, the captivating members of Saja Boys, and the incredible soundtrack we didn't expect. We'll give you our ratings of not only the movie, but of the songs we have on repeat...and the ones we skip over (sorry Jess.) We also chat about our hopes for the sequel of this story and quiz each other on which KDH character we're most like. Get cozy, grab your ramyun, and be delusional about "Rujinu's" happy ending with us!

  46. 12

Act 4: Somebody Call CPS on Front Man | Squid Game Final Season

This week on Fictionally Unstable, we're talking bout Squid Game Season 3 and the final season of this Kdrama series — the plot twists of Player 456, the emotional damage, and the characters who made us yell, “WHY would you do that?!” And we have lots of questions about that ending... Was it satisfying? Was it fair? And would we have made it out ourselves? (an obvious "no") And finally, we chat about the upcoming U.S. series adaption. Will it live up to the Korean original? We're breaking down our speculations, suggestions, and what American games we hope to see in this version – Red Rover? Tic Tac Toe? Heads up 7-up? If you’re into screaming at your screen, questionable morality, and oddly specific children’s games turned deadly — grab your dalgona candy and tune in!

  47. 11

Act 3: Team John vs Team Harry | Materialists Review

In this week’s episode, we’re giving our thoughts on Materialists — the emotionally messy romantic dramedy starring Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans. This film has us reflecting on the standards of modern dating, marrying for love or stability, and if true romance can survive in today's capitalist crisis (the answer is yes...given the romance is coming from Pedro Pascal.) We also get a little personal as we unpack what our own love languages look like, what we've learned in our relationships, and what we're still figuring out. Whether you're choosing a John type or a Harry type – hit play and join the conversation!

  48. 10

Act 2: Captivated by Kiki's Cult | Sirens Series Discussion

This week we’re diving deep into Sirens, the Netflix series that's got us thinking: who are the real sirens of this drama? This five-part series mixes Greek mythology with modern-day power plays, and we’re here for every twisty, toxic moment. We talk about Michaela, the ultra-rich, mysterious woman running what might be a retreat… or maybe a cult? Simone, who gets pulled under Michaela’s tide, while her sister Devon tries to bring her back to reality. These "Sirens" are dealing with trauma, power, and control in a world that constantly tries to define them. If you’re into stories of power dynamics, complicated characters, or just love a good psychological drama with mythic undertones, this one’s for you!

Welcome to our first episode chatting on TV/Film! Today we’re talking all things It Ends With Us — the movie, not the book (but yeah the book too). Grab your popcorn and a flannel-sequin-cargo blanket, it’s about to get emotional and opinionated.
