 As she prepares for her next chapter, Rev. Brittany reflects on the lessons she has learned during her time at FUMCLR. From the importance of relationships and community to moments of growth, challenge, and grace, she shares how God has shaped her ministry and faith through the people and experiences of this church family. 

For centuries, women of faith have been asking themselves, “Am I a Mary or a Martha?” as though one answer were better than the other. This sermon revisits Luke 10:38–42 and suggests that both sisters are faithful disciples. Rather than choosing between service and devotion, Jesus invites Martha—and all of us—to a holy reorientation, returning our focus from the many things that consume us to the One Thing that gives meaning to them all.

Paul's instructions for how to live the way of Jesus seem like simple common sense. But if you compare these actions to our instincts of fight, flight, or freeze, they are most complex and enlightened behaviors. In light of the world's common behaviors, they are more like super powers.
