CRO Is Dead: The "Listen, Watch, Ship" Framework for Shopify Brands | Ep 128

Is traditional Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) hurting your direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand? In this episode, FoundRev founder Bryan Bowman explains why CRO has devolved into basic "decoration" and why most agencies are charging $5,000 to $6,000 a month for A/B tests that fail 80% of the time. Through a compelling story of a Chicago pizza shop that ignored its customers' simple requests for takeout and larger tables in favor of adding a wine selection, Brian illustrates the costly danger of guessing what your customers want. Stop doing complete site redesigns that confuse your existing buyers and tank your revenue. Instead, it is time to pivot to "Voice of Customer" aligned optimization. In this episode, you will learn: The Problem with CRO: Why making your website "look pretty" by copying other brands is not a sustainable growth strategy. The Listen Phase: How to deploy immediate post-purchase surveys to your existing customers to gather hundreds of data points on exactly why they buy. The Watch Phase: The importance of using heatmaps and screen recordings to track actual buyer behavior and attribute revenue to specific actions. The Ship Phase: How to analyze your treasure trove of data, batch your updates, and run targeted split tests to guarantee positive results. Compounding Growth: How optimizing your site based on customer feedback directly increases your Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), improves email conversions, and drives compounding 5% to 10% month-over-month revenue growth. Stop guessing and start letting your customers write your copy and dictate your site experience. Ready to stop guessing and start scaling? The 80/20 Framework to Scale Your Shopify Brand | Ep 125

Are you focused on the wrong things to grow your Shopify store? In this episode, Bryan Bowman, founder of FoundRev, breaks down the exact "90-Day Revenue Sprint" framework he uses to guarantee clients a minimum 20% revenue increase in their first three months. Bryan reveals the "80/20 of the 80/20" - the critical few actions that drive the massive majority of your results. He argues that most founders try to scale backward by starting with top-of-funnel traffic. Instead, he introduces the "Iceberg" methodology, starting from the bottom of the funnel where the profit actually lives. In this episode, you'll discover: * The "Iceberg" Funnel Strategy: Why you must fix the "bottom of the iceberg" (retention and LTV) before you ever spend a dollar on new traffic. * Step 1 - Retention & Deliverability: How to fix email deliverability, optimize your six core flows, and use the "Nine Word Email" to wake up dead leads. * Step 2 - The "Money Page" CRO Fix: A crash course in optimizing your Homepage, Product Detail Pages, and Checkout to fix throughput before driving traffic. * Step 3 - The "Fast Cash" Promo: Implementing a 4-to-7-day promotion to inject immediate cash flow into the business. * Step 4 - The Offer & Traffic: How to construct a self-liquidating offer that funds your customer acquisition, making your Meta ads (the final step) purely fuel for the fire. Stop wasting budget on ads that lead to a leaky bucket. Tune in to learn how to implement this systematic roadmap today. Ready to scale your brand? Visit www.FoundRev.com to learn how we partner with Shopify brands to drive guaranteed growth.

5 Hidden Revenue Leaks Killing Your Shopify Store (And How to Fix Them) | Ep 124

Stop pouring water into a leaky bucket. Most Shopify founders think they have a traffic problem. In reality, they have a "bucket" problem. In this episode, Bryan Bowman breaks down the 5 specific places where money is silently leaking out of your business. Before you spend another dollar on Meta ads or try to 10x your traffic, you need to plug these holes to capture the revenue that is already hiding in plain sight. You will learn: The Hero Offer Problem: Why your main offer might be killing your margin and how to re-engineer it for higher Average Order Value (AOV). The 3 "Money Pages": The critical mistakes brands make on their Home, Product, and—most importantly—Checkout pages. The Email Gap: Why "set it and forget it" flows in Klaviyo are leaving massive customer LTV on the table. Bundling for Profit: How to use strategic upsells to increase revenue without finding a single new customer. The Metrics That Matter: Why you can't fix what you don't track, and the specific weekly KPIs you need to stop flying blind. This is your step-by-step audit to find the "Found Revenue" inside your store right now. Mentioned in this episode: FoundRev.com

Learn the Psychology of Success | Ep 88

The psychology of success begins with this question: Who do I have to become to have what they have? We each know someone successful in business or accomplished in a particular skill. It's easy to think you could never achieve what they have. But consider this: instead of responding in jealousy or defeat, focus on what you could do to attain that level of success.  This perspective was a game-changer in my life and business. I had to focus on what it would take to get to that place of success. Listen to this episode where I talk about the need for a growth mindset. It will change your life and business. How to use the psychology of success to tap into your superpower A growth mindset is what's needed to attain success. Some of the most wealthy people have the mindset that change is attainable. You can have the same mindset. Be certain that you can develop the skills you need to get to where you want to be. Find out how environment is key in making you rise to a level of greatness. You can't simply rely on willpower alone. Tap into your superpower - adaptability. We as humans are the most adaptive creatures on the planet. Listen to this episode to learn how this superpower helps you rise to greatness and achieve things you never thought possible. Take deliberate steps - create an environment that forces greatness There are tactical things you can do to create an environment that forces greatness. I have to remind myself of these regularly. The first step is what I call elimination - getting rid of distractions. Think about it this way: The average CEO reads one book a week. I read two per week. Maybe you think you don't have time to read. But if I asked how much time you spend on social media, your phone or TV, you'd see where your time is going. Instead of relying on willpower to turn off the TV, simply eliminate it.  This strategy of elimination goes hand in hand with making a huge investment. Learn how to invest in yourself. I've done it and have seen great results. Find out how big investments force you to become a better person.  Wake up your competitive spirit Another deliberate step you can take is to get competitive. Think of people you see as role models in your life - in business or other areas. We all need examples and it's always good to learn from others. But go beyond that. Observe what they do and learn how to do it better. See them as your competitors. As you continue to improve on what they're doing, you'll get ahead of the game. Wake up that competitive spirit and it will become a huge asset in your business. Find the secret of ritual and routine  Another asset may be something that goes against your grain. No one likes to be told what to do, but the truth is that structure breeds freedom. If your goal is to succeed in life, the only way to get there is through a routine. It may sound uncanny - but the more structure you have, the more free you become. Listen to this episode to hear some of the rituals I've built. These not only give me more freedom in the day-to-day, but they also help me function in peak performance. Find out why these rituals and routines are more essential than mere willpower.  Outline of This Episode [0:41] The game-changer for me in life and business [7:30] Tap into your superpower [9:57] Create a forcing function for success [11:51] Be willing to make a HUGE investment to become the best [14:07] Wake up your competitive spirit [15:11] Create peak performance through ritual and routine Resources & People Mentioned Willpower Doesn't Work - by Benjamin Hardy Mindset - Carol Dweck Warren Buffet Relentless- by Tim Grover Connect With Bryan Bowman www.FoundRev.com On Facebook On Instagram

Implement this Effective Product Marketing Strategy | Ep 87

What's the best way to use your product marketing to connect with your audience? It's all about painting a mental picture. Learn how to communicate your unique selling proposition most effectively. The key is using simplicity and familiarity. When introducing your product don't overcomplicate it. Listen to this episode to hear the best strategy to get people's attention and how to get them to spread the word about your product. How schema plays an important role in product marketing Schema is information in your mind that's familiar. Think about if I were to ask you what a pummelo is. If you didn't know the answer, I could describe it in great detail - the color, the texture, the taste. But it would be most helpful if I said it's like a super-sized grapefruit. I tapped into your schema of grapefruit to help you understand what a pummelo is. You can do the same when describing your product to tap into what the buyer is already familiar with. What is an IKOLA and how can you use it to your advantage? Steve Jobs talked about using what he called "IKOLAs." It's an acronym for "it's kind of like a…"  One of my favorite branding examples is Scrubbing Bubbles. In their branding, they use an IKOLA. They don't talk about the chemical composition of the product. They help you visualize it by giving personality to these bubbles. It's kind of like having small scrubbers doing a thorough cleaning job in your bathroom. It's easy to understand and remember the product. Find out how to use IKOLAs in marketing your product and see the difference it makes. Make it simple. Don't speak techno-babble "The quicker picker-upper"  "Just do it"  "Melts in your mouth - not in your hands"   These well-known product descriptions create images and emotions that we're familiar with. They're perfect examples of simple communication that creates desire in a customer. Speaking simply doesn't mean dumbing down ideas. It's a way to connect people with your product. In behavioral psychology, studies have shown that when people are confronted with a complex idea, it triggers an alert in their brains. This leaves room for doubt and confusion, hindering the decision-making process. You want your customers to say yes - not maybe. Don't give them a reason to look elsewhere. How to make your USP stick When you keep your marketing ideas simple, it helps you do two things - tear down barriers and tap into something your customers already know. It's easy to understand, it makes them stop, and it gets their attention. Once you have their attention, trigger emotions that cause them to take action. Find out in this episode the best methods on how to tap into people's schema. It will make your product memorable and easy to share. A Superpower Swipe File Can Help You Pull Out Of Personal Slump | Ep 86

We all have superpowers - the problem is that most of us don't recognize them as such. We need others to point them out to us. This episode is about that - and it's sparked by a conversation I was having with a friend just this week. He's feeling down, like it's hard for him to get himself into the game and I totally understand the feeling. I want you to hear what I shared with him because I think it's powerful. If you can do this one thing you'll equip yourself with the tools you need to pull yourself out of that slump every time it happens. Give yourself permission to feel down. On the other side of pain is tremendous power Before we get too far into this, I want you to understand something - nobody can be motivated and "up" all the time. Life simply isn't that way. In spite of the impression we get from Instagram, nobody's life is perfect and happy all the time. And here's the good news - it's OK to feel down. We need to learn how to let the pressure off of ourselves and quit expecting that we should be full of motivation and energy all the time and give ourselves permission to be down when the time comes. When we can do that - and work through the painful down time - we'll find tremendous reserves of power available on the other side. Start with the 5 core elements you need as a human being One last thing before I tell you what I told my friend. As human beings we all need 5 core elements to be well adjusted and healthy. Too often we jump to radical things like therapy or fasting or a crazy eating plan when all we really need to do is focus on these 5 basics consistently. What are they? Water, sleep, movement, diet, and air. I spend a small portion of this episode explaining what I mean by each of those and why they are so important. If you take nothing else away from this podcast but can get yourself going in the right direction with these 5 things, you'll be doing well. Do you know what a swipe file is? The concept of a swipe file comes from the famous copywriters who have made their money by fashioning headlines, marketing campaigns, and advertisements. They would pay attention to the other marketing and branding going on around them and keep examples of things that inspired them or that they thought were particularly brilliant. When they were ready to create their next piece of work, they would not start from scratch. They'd go to that swipe file and begin pursuing the ideas that had made them want to do great work themselves. Without fail, they'd find some ideas to put together that would serve as fuel for their current project. Keep that concept in mind as I reveal what I told my friend. He needs to create what I call a "superpower swipe file." What the heck is a superpower swipe file? Along the lines of a traditional swipe file that any entrepreneur, writer, or business owner might create, you can and should create your own personal swipe file. It's not for capturing great business ideas - it's for capturing the great things that are said about you, your services, and your products. When people praise us, we need to do more than just say "thank you." We need to pay attention. And if we are able to pay attention over time - by keeping the notes, emails., etc. - we'll be able to encourage ourselves with the truth of what others have seen in us, on the spot, when we need it. My friends - please start your superpower swipe file today.  Outline of This Episode [0:37] The reason I'm sharing this topic with you [1:23] The feeling of being stuck, being out of the game, without motivation [2:01] Give yourself permission to feel down [3:32] Nature is a tremendous resource for resetting your mood [4:55] 5 core elements everyone needs [8:08] Create a superpower swipe file [12:52] And about a business swipe file...   Connect With Bryan Bowman www.FoundRev.com On Facebook On Instagram

Words have Power - Learn to Use Them Well | Ep 85

Words have power. But there's one word considered to be magical because it's the most powerful. It affects things like the kinds of people you're drawn to, what foods you like, and even what you do for a living. What is this magic word? It's your name. There's been a lot of research done about the power of names and the words we use. Listen to this episode to hear how you can use names in your eCommerce business. It can be a game-changer! Find out how words can be used as a strategy statement A name helps define the purpose of something or someone. It has so much power and can be used as a strategy statement. Take Thomas Edison, for example. He had a team who ran numerous experiments. He named them "muckers." That may sound like a random name, but he used it purposefully. When doing the experiments, the muckers didn't have to ask what the next step was. Their given name helped eliminate the question of what they were responsible for. It defined them and their purpose. Learn how you can use names to benefit your business. Why you should call your customers "clients"  What's the difference between customers and clients? Customers are transactional relationships. They give you money, you give them a product. Clients, on the other hand, see you as a trusted adviser. You develop relationships with clients and you sell products to customers. I call all of my customers clients. Whether they've bought any product or not, internally in the company, everyone is a client. Try it. Start calling all of your customers clients. Listen to find out how making this simple change in words can make a BIG difference in your mindset and ultimately in your business. How you can add intrinsic value by naming products As you think about the power in a name, correlate that to your products. A practical tip you can start using TODAY is to name everything. It's a rule I live by. This especially works well with bundles. For example, if you put three products together, don't just call it a three-pack. Give it a name like "the fresh start pack" or something that catches the buyer's attention. Create an irresistible offer and add value to it by giving it a name. Listen to this episode to hear about a company that did this well. Learn to use words to gain a competitive advantage Since we know names are the most important words, it's vital to remember other people's names. I make a point to do this any time I meet someone. I know the power of that and how it makes them feel. It makes them feel like their voice is heard. I'm always amazed by the connections I make with people by doing this.  Names - remember them and use them to market your products. Very few sellers use this simple practice and it can help you gain the competitive advantage you need. Outline of This Episode [0:43] What is the power in a name? Use These Proven Strategies to Grow Your Business | Ep 81

In this episode, I share some unconventional strategies to grow your business. I've personally used these and can tell you they work. One of the most powerful pieces of advice I've ever gotten was from Paul Graham. He talked about startup companies and how they either take off or they don't. Those that take off need a nudge from the founders. He emphasized the importance of aggressively marketing their products at the beginning. But Graham's primary point is to do things that don't scale. Find out about this counterintuitive principle and how it gives you incredible benefits in your eCommerce business. Find out what I did to jumpstart my first online business When I wanted to start my business, I needed to find a niche. Because of my interests, I chose to focus on outdoor products - things like camping and hiking gear. But my next step was deciding on product selection. What was the best way to find out what customers wanted? Without knowing the advice from Paul Graham on how to grow a business, I started doing things that didn't scale. One of the most helpful things I did was spend hours at REI talking to customers. No software program could compare to the valuable insights I gained by doing this. Listen to this episode to learn why these conversations were crucial to growing my business.  Learn how to gain momentum in your business and get ahead of the competition  When you're doing things that don't scale, it helps to do customer research. Go to stores that sell the same type of items you're selling. This simple practice puts you ahead of your competition. While they're looking for programs or software to find things out about their customers, you'll be talking to them. Don't just imagine your buyer persona. Find out your prospects' likes and dislikes. Make a ridiculous offer. I'm doing that right now. Go to bestQ4ever.com and see what I get so excited about. Listen now to find out how you can create enthusiasm in your business and keep it from becoming stagnate. Use these strategies to grow your business  There are so many ideas you can implement to start growing your business today. Learn how to connect with your customers on a personal level. Here are a few ways you can do this: Offer a personalized onboarding experience Follow up with customers who abandoned cart  Collect user-generated content (UGC) The bestQ4ever offer I talk about in this episode is a great example of a personalized onboarding experience. I personally welcome those who join our premium community for sellers. Although this doesn't scale, I love to do it because it adds a very personal touch and creates a connection. Find out more strategies you can use to not only connect with your customers but to build your business at the same time. Don't just automate - make it personal In today's business world, we try to automate and systematize everything. Instead of always trying to think about the big picture, sometimes to have a greater impact, we have to go small. How can you "go small" in your eCommerce business? You do things that don't scale. This is a simple yet difficult thing because it makes you step out of your comfort zone. Pick up the phone and call that customer who abandoned cart. It may make you feel uncomfortable, but the benefits will pay off. Create enthusiasm by adding the personal touch that's missing in your business. Launch Your Profits With Effective Email Marketing | Ep 80

Learn the effective email marketing strategy I've been using in my business. As you continually grow your list, that's what's going to be the most profitable thing in your eCommerce business. Focus your attention on emails. You can run ads and promotions, but the consistency is going to come from your email lists. Listen to this episode where I explain in detail how to get the most out of your current list and how to monetize it. Use my proven framework to get the best results in eCommerce sales I use this framework in my email marketing and it has been very effective. There can be some variations, but the basic framework looks like this: Day One - send one email to announce the promotion  Day Two - send one email to advertise the bonus  Day Three - send two emails to remind them of the bonus and inject the urgency to act Day Four - send two emails to remind them again of the pending expiration of the deal  When using any promotions, you'll always have three distinct groups of people in these stages: those who take advantage of the sale right away, those who procrastinate, and the middle stage of people who need to be nudged toward a purchase. This third group is who you MUST focus on. In this episode, learn how to convince them that your offer is the perfect one.  The first step - find out why it's vital to know your buyer persona  You need to keep the buyer's psychology in mind because they have a lot of people offering them deals. How do you make your offer stand out from the rest? The key is first understanding your buyer persona. Don't simply find out their demographic data. Learn about them. In this episode, I'll tell you how to make your conversations with your prospects more genuine. Learn how to make an offer they can't refuse. What does quid pro quo have to do with maintaining the integrity of your brand? Always remember something for something - quid pro quo. Whenever you have a sale, there has to be a reason for it. Think about the mattress sales on Labor Day. There's no correlation between the two, but it's a reason for the sale. That's how you maintain the integrity of the brand - attach the sale to something. When sending out your email promotions, do this, otherwise, it sounds like you're just giving discounts for no reason.  Take action now - don't miss out on the profit center waiting for you Don't overthink your emails. Get your four-day promotion out as soon as possible. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect. The more offers you get out, the better you'll become at putting them together. And the earlier you start these email promotions, the better. Some sellers have huge lists but have never promoted anything. Increase Revenue by Following this Lead Nurturing Strategy | Ep 79

A specific lead nurturing strategy results in a bigger audience, which equates to more revenue. Nurturing your audience never stops. You have to build automation and processes to succeed in the eCommerce world. But don't make the mistake of coming up with a complex system. When a complex system breaks, it's difficult to figure out how to fix it. Some of the best systems are very simple. Listen to this episode to find out the strategies I've used to grow my audience and my business. Find out the best equation that results in higher revenue When you're nurturing an audience, you're trying to build goodwill and community. There's a specific equation I like to use to explain how this works best: audience X goodwill X number of offers = revenue The size of an audience is the community you've built. The goodwill is the bond you've made with that audience. We all buy from people who we know, like, and trust. How much do they know, like, and trust you? With making offers, you don't want too little or too much. The result is the amount of revenue you make from those three factors combined. Use this equation to help you remember the importance of building your audience and goodwill. You won't be disappointed when you watch your revenue increase.  Why Q4 is the time to capitalize and build your audience Right now is the time to build up your audience and goodwill. It's easier in the fourth quarter because the price of getting that audience is going up. You don't want to have to pay premium prices to reach them. That's why it's vital to focus on the relationships you already have. People are already in the shopping mode so start now. Listen to this episode to help you define your unique selling proposition that will not only build your audience but boost your sales.  Define your lead nurturing strategy to build community I recently heard a speaker who did a good job building community. His methods are a good strategy for you to follow and implement. He told stories and used humor. He also "baked in" his propositions. This is KEY. Don't forget to first define your five propositions: Unique selling proposition Unique value proposition Unique experience proposition Unique safety proposition Unique irresistible offer You MUST define these and use them every chance you get. In this episode, I tell you detailed steps on how to do this. Don't miss out on this great opportunity. How to get the most out of what you already have Start with what you already have. If you only have ten emails - treat them like gold. When you have a small customer list, it's easy to call each one or write them a personal note. This is the momentum you need to propel your business forward. Let me show you how to get the most traction when you start to build your audience. In this episode, I give step-by-step strategies on how you can make the most out of what you already have.
