Frank and Hem
by Tyler Frank
Frank and Hem is a laid-back, quick-witted podcast where two guys tackle life's everyday chaos with humor, opinions, and just enough self-awareness to know they might be wrong. From sports takes and March Madness brackets to family life, random annoyances, and stories that "only happen to us," nothing is off-limits. It's part barstool banter, part real-life therapy session—unfiltered, relatable, and always entertaining.

Episode #12 - Smart Fridges, Summer Rides, and the Road to Omaha
This week on Frank & Hem, Frank unleashes a One-Minute Rant on the growing epidemic of smart appliances. Why does a refrigerator need Wi-Fi? Why does a washing machine need an app? And when did a toaster become smarter than its owner? The guys then turn their attention to the College World Series, discussing who they're pulling for in Omaha and why. Next, they each rank their Top 5 Modes of Summer Transportation, from boats and bikes to golf carts and everything in between. Frank also provides a quick update on preparations for this year's EAA festivities, including the excitement, chaos, and work that comes with getting ready for one of Wisconsin's biggest summer events. Smart appliances, college baseball, summer transportation, and EAA prep—just another week in the garage with Frank & Hem.

Episode #11 - You're Not Invited to the Cookout
This week on Frank & Hem, Hem uses his One Minute Rant to give some overdue recognition to the volunteer umpires keeping youth sports alive. The guys then break down some uniquely "guy" characteristics and debate whether certain traits are enough to get your invitation to the cookout revoked. Later, Frank and Hem take a trip down memory lane and discuss things that used to be absolutely awesome... but somehow kind of suck now. From changing traditions to modern conveniences that aren't so convenient, nothing is safe. Plus, listener shout-outs, questions, and the usual Midwest nonsense you've come to expect.

Episode #10 - Frank and Hem Do America
This week on Frank & Hem, the guys fire up a full blown Memorial Day episode packed with nostalgia, arguments, and pure American energy. Frank and Hem break down the absolute BEST and WORST parts of Memorial Day weekend — from backyard cookouts and less than ideal weather conditions, to lake season and mosquito hatches, and of course, the unofficial start of "guy grilling season." Frank then delivers this week's One Minute Rant aimed directly at streaming services and the absolute disaster live sports viewing has become. Four apps, nine passwords, buffering screens, blackout restrictions… what happened to just flipping channels like civilized people? The guys also riff on the greatest patriotic songs of all time and finish the episode with a list of real and fictional people who truly embody America. Grab a brat, crack a beer, and celebrate Memorial Day weekend with Frank & Hem.

Episode #9 - Always Sunny, WHAM Warning Signs, & Corporate Defecation Etiquette
This week on Frank and Hem, Hem kicks things off with a passionate defense of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia as the superior sitcom over The Office — and Frank may need a bird law defense attorney. The guys also shout out listeners, answer fan questions, and dive headfirst into some absolutely necessary societal debates: Is leaving weights on gym machines a selfish act or no? What's the proper etiquette for corporate bathroom "situations"? Which movie quotes have permanently become part of our daily vocabulary? George Michael and Wham! were there signs.......? Mike then somehow lands the plane by ending the episode on a positive, reflective note… like a zenned-up mob boss who just finished a self-help audiobook. Another chaotic, ridiculous, and strangely relatable episode from your favorite Midwest dads.

Episode #8 - Keep Your Head On A Swivel
This week on Frank & Hem, the guys kick off a brand new weekly segment: Frank & Hem – One Minute Rant. Frank opens the show with a completely reasonable and definitely-not-threatening letter to a school bus bully… let's just say the kid should probably keep his head on a swivel. The guys also dive into the little things that make men secretly judge other men, break down the absolute WORST sounds you can hear in your house, and somehow turn smoke detector chirps, mystery crashes, and "Dad… I threw up" into comedy gold. To close things out, Hem shares his latest bizarre infatuation, and honestly… we're a little concerned. Midwest sarcasm, dad energy, questionable opinions, and weekly nonsense — just the way you like it.

Episode #7 - One YouTube Video Away From Ruining Your Night
This week on Frank & Hem, we go deep into the internet trenches as we break down our favorite YouTube rabbit holes—the kind that start with one innocent video and somehow end three hours later with you watching grainy footage about abandoned malls or ranking backup quarterbacks from 2007. We also unveil our personal Mount Rushmore of Dad Moves—the universal behaviors that every dad eventually develops whether they want to or not. Then it's time for another blind ranking challenge as Hem takes on fast food chains, and let's just say… his #1 choice may divide the audience. We wrap things up by discussing the minor conspiracies we're slowly starting to believe. Nothing too crazy… but enough to make you raise an eyebrow and say, "Okay… hear me out." As always, strong opinions, questionable logic, and absolutely zero research. Welcome back to Frank & Hem. Reach out to the guys at [email protected] and the guys will bring up your suggestions on the show!

Episode #6 - "I Still Got It" Energy + Sitcom Dad Power Rankings
This week on Frank & Hem, we lean all the way into the confidence… whether it's deserved or not. We kick things off with our favorite "I still got it" moments—the small, meaningless wins that make us feel elite (even if nobody else is impressed). From there, we break down the ideal Midwest first date, where the expectations are low, the vibes are strong, and somehow County Fairs may be the power move. Frank then takes on a blind ranking of Sitcom Dads, which goes exactly how you'd expect—questionable decisions, strong opinions, and immediate regret. We wrap it up with a deep dive into our favorite obscure athletes—the guys you definitely remember… but can't quite explain why. As always, we might be wrong… but we're saying it anyway. Support has been amazing thus far. Please keep the engagement coming. Drop a comment or email the guys directly at [email protected] We'd love to bring your questions and suggestions onto the show!

Episode #5 - At What Age Did Everything Start Requiring Preparation?
This week on Frank and Hem, we dive into the moment life changed—from things just happening… to needing a full warmup. We talk about how to measure athleticism in real life at our age, the everyday things we now have to prepare for (that used to be effortless), and the risk vs. reward decisions that have completely flipped over time. We also debate a listener question: are promposals actually cool, or just wildly over the top? If you've ever pulled something doing something normal, this episode will hit home. Email the guys and we'll bring your topics/questions up the Show! [email protected]

Hot Honey is a Scam & Other Hills We're Willing to Die On
This week on Frank & Hem, we're doing what we do best—being confidently right about things that absolutely don't matter (but also… kind of do). We kick things off by proudly declaring ourselves vigilantes for elderly alcohol—protecting the sacred right of grandmas everywhere to enjoy their drink without interference. You're welcome, America. Then we turn our attention to a true culinary controversy: Hot Honey. Is it innovative? Is it trendy? Or is it just ruining perfectly good food one drizzle at a time? We've got thoughts… and they are not kind. From there, we dig into the small hills we'd die on—those oddly specific opinions you'll defend like your life depends on it. Petty? Maybe. Correct? Absolutely. And finally, we take a nostalgic trip back to childhood, breaking down the things we thought meant a family was LOADED… that, in hindsight, were just aggressively middle class. If you enjoy strong opinions, questionable logic, and the kind of conversations that sound like they should've stayed in the garage—but didn't—this episode is for you. Press play. Pick a side. And prepare to disagree with us. Be part of the Frank and Hem Show! Shoot us an email and we'll bring it up on the show [email protected]

"We Fixed Everything in 60 Seconds (You're Welcome)"
Episode 3 of Frank & Hem might be our most confident—and questionable—yet. We debut a new segment, "Fix It in 60 Seconds," where we solve everything from NFL overtime and the College Football Playoff to family vacations and why being late somehow becomes everyone else's problem. We also get brutally honest with "things we hate but are too Midwest to admit" (turns out we've all been lying to each other for years), and wrap it up by debating which women's Olympic sport we think we could win gold in… for reasons that don't hold up under even light scrutiny. It's fast, opinionated, and exactly the kind of logic you probably shouldn't trust—but will anyway.

Frank & Hem – Episode 2: "We Know Exactly What We're Talking About (We Don't)"
Episode 2 of Frank & Hem brings the same confidence with even less credibility as we dive into obscure Midwest towns that probably shouldn't exist, the ridiculous world of sports jargon we've all blindly accepted, and a full translation of coach speak—what they say versus what they actually mean. We also take a swing at fixing Major League Baseball with ideas that range from "not bad" to "this is why we're not in charge." It's part sports, part Midwest nonsense, and mostly two guys being way too sure of opinions that absolutely don't matter.

"We Might Be Wrong… But Lambeau's Getting Renamed & Everything's Annoying"
Frank and Hem kick off their first episode exactly how you'd expect—confidently questioning things they probably Googled once. The guys dive into their debut segment "We Might Be Wrong, But…" with strong (and possibly terrible) opinions, then pitch some wildly inappropriate—and surprisingly compelling—ideas for Lambeau Field naming rights. Finally, they build out a 16-team bracket of everyday annoyances, where nothing is safe and everything gets judged. It's part sports, part life, part "how did we get here?"—and a perfect introduction to the kind of unfiltered, relatable chaos this show is built on.
