Why Small Things Trigger You So Much

Send us Fan MailHave you ever had a moment where something tiny sets you off…And even as it’s happening, part of you is thinking: “Why am I reacting like this right now?”This episode breaks down what’s really going on underneath those moments.Because the truth is: It’s not about the thing. It’s about what the thing touches. In this conversation, we explore why your reactions can feel so big, how emotional patterns form, and what you can actually do to process what’s underneath instead of reacting on repeat. You’ll walk away with a simple, practical way to: Understand your triggers  Process emotions more effectively  Shift from reacting → responding  Create more peace in your everyday life And maybe most importantly: You’ll realize… you’re not crazy. You’re just finally close enough to yourself to feel what’s actually going on.Freedom Camp doors only open 3 times a year and they are currently open through May 3rd! To join or get more info https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Support the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

Survival Self vs Spirit-Led Self: How to Break Out of Survival Mode

Send us Fan MailHave you ever noticed how the same situation can bring out two completely different versions of you?One reacts from fear, anxiety, and control. The other responds from peace, trust, and connection with God.In this episode of the Freedom Camp Podcast, Gretchen explores the difference between your survival self and your spirit-led self, and why learning to notice the difference can transform how you experience your life, without your life changing.Through a personal story, Gretchen illustrates how our thoughts shape our feelings, our actions, and ultimately the results we experience. When we operate from survival mode, we may experience:• anxiety and overthinking • people-pleasing • trying to control outcomes • shutting down or feeling overwhelmedBut when we reconnect with our spirit-led self, we often experience:• peace • clarity • compassion • courage • the space to choose our responseYou’ll also learn a simple reflection practice called The Freedom Path, which helps you examine your thoughts, emotions, actions, and results so you can move from survival patterns into agreement with God.Freedom doesn’t always begin when circumstances change.Often, it begins when our agreement changes. In this episode you'll learn aboutThe difference between survival and spirit-led living Why thoughts shape feelings, actions, and outcomes How anxiety and control patterns develop Signs you may be operating in survival mode A simple exercise to reconnect with truth and discernmentSupport the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

Who Told You That? The Hidden Battle In Your Thoughts

Send us Fan MailWhat if the biggest battle in your life isn't external… but internal? In this episode of the Freedom Camp Podcast, we explore how spiritual warfare often begins with the thoughts and narratives we accept without questioning.Instead of approaching spiritual warfare through fear or extremes, this conversation focuses on discernment, clarity, and learning to recognize the difference between God's voice, our own patterns, and the enemy's accusations. You'll also learn how your nervous system impacts discernment and why practicing presence and regulation can help you hear truth more clearly.Gretchen shares a simple four-step framework to help you take thoughts captive and move into agreement with what God says about you.Freedom grows when clarity grows. And clarity grows when we slow down long enough to notice the lie.In This Episode• Why spiritual warfare is often quiet • How narratives form faster than we realize • The role your nervous system plays in discernment • The difference between God's voice, the enemy, and old patterns • A simple 4-step practice for taking thoughts captiveScriptures Mentioned2 Corinthians 10 Ephesians 6:10–20Weekly PracticeFor the next seven days:Catch one thought each day and walk through this process:Name the thoughtAsk “Who told me that?”Test the fruitChoose agreement with what God saysSupport the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

Rest Isn’t Just Sleep: It’s Cultivating a Selah Pause

Send us Fan MailIn this Freedom Camp Podcast episode, we’re talking about the kind of rest that changes how you live, not just how you sleep. Real rest is your nervous system’s ability to stand down, shift from bracing to trusting, and let God be God.You’ll learn the four kinds of rest (physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional/soul), why you can be “still” and not actually be resting, and how the biblical idea of Selah mirrors a musical rest: a holy pause that keeps time and keeps your life aligned with God.We end with a guided 90-second Selah pause you can practice immediately and a simple Sabbath framework you can use this week: Prepare, Protect, Practice.Reflection question: Which kind of rest are you most deprived of right now, and what’s one small way you can trust God enough to pause today? If you want a deeper episode on safety (what it is, what it isn’t, and how it affects rest), tell me in the comments. Are You Planning Your Day With God… or Just Planning Your Day?

Send us Fan MailIn today’s Freedom Camp Podcast episode, we’re talking about movement, not just physical movement, but spiritual movement too: obedience, integration, and learning how to know your body well enough to move with God instead of staying stuck (or sprinting ahead on autopilot).I share two common patterns I see in myself and in many of us:Then we bring it into the body. Because your body often reveals your patterns: what you avoid, what you rush into, what you numb, and what you overthink. When you learn your “tells,” you can catch autopilot earlier and choose partnership, peace, and obedience. In this episode, you’ll explore:1. Are you consuming or integrating more right now?2. Are you praying… or stepping out?3. Do you move quickly when you’re excited, and stall when you’re not?Are you planning your day with God, or are you just planning your day?Practice: a simple 5-minute morning pause to ask:“God, where are we moving today?”“What’s mine to integrate?”“What’s mine to act on?”Question for you: Which pattern feels most familiar… and what might it be protecting you from?If this episode lands for you, I’d love to hear in the comments: What is one small step of obedience you already know to take?#freedomcamppodcast   #christianpodcast   #obedience   #spiritualgrowth   #heargod   #faithinaction   #christianwomen   #nervoussystem   #mindbodyspirit   #discernment   #integration   #movewithgod  Support the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

Nutrition: What Are You Really Hungry For?

Send us Fan MailWhat if your body isn’t broken… but your partner and helper instead? In this episode, we explore one of the core Freedom Camp shifts: moving from fighting your body to partnering with it.You’ll hear:A personal story of frustration, symptoms, and eliminationThe surprising connection between cravings and emotional needsWhy awareness changes more than willpower ever couldHow a regulated nervous system improves digestion and discernmentAnd the question that stopped the room:“Jesus, what am I really hungry for?”No one said food.Instead, we heard words like trust, purpose, creativity, and contentment. When we stop treating our body like a battleground and start treating it like a partner, something softens. Identity: Truth vs Experience

Send us Fan MailWhat if knowing who God says you are… and living from that truth are two very different things? In this episode of the Freedom Camp Podcast, we explore the tension between spiritual truth and lived experience when it comes to identity. God has already called us, redeemed us, forgiven us, and made us whole. Our work isn’t to earn our identity, but to learn how to receive the identity we already have.Together, we'll unpack:• Why experience often feels louder than God’s truth• The gap between cognitive belief and embodied faith• How time, emotions, and past experiences shape identity• What it looks like to let God’s truth move through spirit, mind, soul, and body• Practical ways to “marinate” in one identity truth this week• A guided reflection to help you receive who God says you already areThis episode includes a peaceful soaking-style reflection centered on these truths:✨ You have a sound mind✨ You are accepted in the Beloved✨ You are precious, honored, and deeply loved✨ You are free from condemnation✨ You are complete in Christ✨ You are seated with Christ in heavenly placesRather than striving to become someone new, you’re invited to practice receiving who God already says you are. This is faith-based identity healing for real life, gentle, honest, and embodied.🌿 Reflection Questions (from the episode):You may want to journal, sit with, or ponder these:• Where do you notice a gap between what God says and what you experience?• Which identity truth felt hardest to receive?• Which brought even a small sense of relief?• What would it look like to let one truth move through your spirit, mind, soul, and body this week?• Which truth is God inviting you to sit with right now?If this episode resonates, share it with someone who might need a reminder of who they are in God.And thank you for being here.#freedomcamppodcast  #identityinchrist  #christiangrowth  #faithbasedcoaching#spiritualhealing  #christianwomen  #identityinchrist  #biblicalidentity  #christianpodcast #innerhealing  #faithjourney  #mindbodysoulspirit  #womenoffaithjourney  #godstruthSupport the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

Discernment Learning to See Clearly When It's Loud

Send us Fan MailIn today’s episode, we’re talking about discernment, presence, and peace and what it really means to be at peace in your spirit even when your mind, body, and circumstances haven’t caught up yet.Sometimes when we’re in a season that requires discernment, we may feel spiritually anchored, yet our nervous system is activated, our thoughts are racing, and our emotions are trying to make decisions for us just to get relief from discomfort. In this episode, we explore how:• Discernment doesn’t begin with answers, it begins with presence• Spiritual peace doesn’t always mean emotional or physical calm• A regulated nervous system creates space for discernment• God’s peace meets us inside uncomfortable situationsWe reflect on key Scriptures about discernment, including:Psalm 46:10Hebrews 5:14Philippians 1:9–101 Kings 31 John 4:1This episode is an invitation to slow down, breathe, and let God guide your next step through peace-led clarity. If this conversation stirred something in you, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. And if you’re craving deeper identity, resilience, and spiritual growth in real life, this is the kind of work we walk through together inside Freedom Camp. Is This Really Who I Am… Or Just Who I Learned to Be?

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Freedom Camp Podcast, we explore the quiet, inherited roles many of us grew up carrying… and how they’ve shaped the way we see ourselves, respond to others, and move through the world. Not from blame or shameBut from compassion, clarity, and freedom. We look at roles like fixer, peacemaker, eldest daughter, achiever, caretaker, invisible one, and explore how they may have once protected us… but now subconsciously limit who we believe we’re allowed to become. This episode invites you to ask:• Is this my identity…• or is this just a story I learned to live inside? Then we shift from self-observation to God-spoken identity.Because culture names roles.Family assigns responsibilities.Experience shapes coping. But God names identity. God names who He created us to be.And His voice is the one that heals, restores, and calls us forward. We anchor this conversation in Isaiah 43, a passage of belonging, redemption, worth, and calling, and invite you to read it personally, slowly, as if God is speaking to you by name.If you’re in a season where your lived experience feels louder than God’s truth… you are not alone. Identity healing is slow, holy work, and it rarely happens in isolation. That’s part of why Freedom Camp exists.Round 1 in this second year of Freedom Camp, is focused on awakening identity  not the one life trained you to carry, but the one God has already spoken over you. What Freedom Looks Like in Real Time: A Story of How Freedom Camp has Impacted my life

Send us Fan MailIn this episode I share a real-life story the last couple weeks, that I'm still in, that is showing me, in real time, what growing in freedom is actually doing in me.Helping one of our Great Pyrenees deliver and care for a litter of puppies has been a perfect example of the value and benefit of Freedom Camp in real time - in the middle of life. There were heat lamps, whelping box improvements, prayer, tears, and a hundred moments of “I don’t know what happens next.”And somewhere in the middle of exhaustion, fear, responsibility, and uncertainty…I realized I wasn’t just helping a mama dog through birth.I was watching the fruit of my own inner growth — the kind of freedom we practice inside Freedom Camp — happening in real time.In earlier seasons, this kind of situation would have sent me into all my old stories and habits.Fight-or-flight.Overwhelm.Self-pressure.Feeling alone in it.But this time — even though I felt it and caught the old stories, I stayed.I noticed what was happening in my body.I used tools I’ve been practicing.I asked for help instead of powering through. Our community prayed and checked in.My family stood with me.And again and again I returned to this truth:I am not ultimately the one holding all of this.God is.My job was presence.Care.Listening.Obedience.Trust.And that… is what freedom looks like to me.Not control. Not certainty. Not “doing everything right.”But learning to stay grounded, compassionate, honest, and surrendered inside situations I cannot predict and cannot fix. That’s the work we do in Freedom Camp.We don’t train for a perfect life.We grow resilience, identity, tenderness, and peace that sustain us inside real life — births, losses, stress, responsibility, and holy seasons. If this resonates… you’re not alone. You belong here.Freedom Camp doors are open through January 4 at midnightWe begin together on January 5.We only open 3x a year so trust, connection, and depth can grow as we journey together.Learn more or join here:https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/#FreedomCamp#FaithJourney#ChristianWomen#InnerHealing#IdentityInChrist#LearningToTrustGod#SpiritualGrowth#ResilienceAndFaith#RealLifeFaith#WomenOfFaith#MindBodySoulSpiritSupport the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

    When Favored Doesn't Feel Real

Send us Fan MailWhat do you do when God speaks identity over you… but your lived experience doesn’t match it yet? This Christmas reflection looks at Mary not as a stained-glass figure, but as a real young woman receiving a calling she didn’t feel ready for — confused, human, yet still deeply favored. In this episode, we explore:• When “favored” doesn’t feel believable• Why God-sized assignments expose our limits (and anchor us to Him)• How honest questions don’t disqualify us• The internal shift of “Let it be to me as You have said”• Why freedom begins where identity is received, not achieved• How to practice alignment when your feelings haven’t caught up yetBecause most of us don’t reject God’s identity…We just don’t recognize ourselves in it yet.If your life feels ordinary, messy, fragile, overwhelming, or “behind,” you are not disqualified from favor. Mary’s story reminds us that favor isn’t the absence of difficulty — it is God’s presence inside of it.You’ll be guided through a reflective “Let It Be To Me” practice to help you:• name an area where favor feels least believable• notice what your experience says vs. what God says• choose one step of alignment todayAnd remember:Identity → Surrender → FruitfulnessFreedom starts where identity is received.✨ Freedom Camp Enrollment Is Now Open through midnight January 4thFreedom Camp is a Christian growth community for women who want to grow in identity, resilience, spiritual formation, mindset renewal, and whole-person freedom (mind, body, soul, and spirit).Doors only open 3 times a year so trust, connection, and depth can grow in community.Learn more or join the waitlist here:👉 https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/👉 https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-listI’d love to journey with you.#freedomcamppodcast #faithandmindset  #identityinchrist #believe  #surrendertogod  #christianwomen #faithjourney  #spiritualformation  #christiangrowth #godsfavor  #mindbodysoulspirit  #christiancommunitySupport the show📥 Stay connectedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/gretchenknodeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/gretchen.paxton.1/Email: [email protected] Website: https://agileinitiatives.com/freedom-camp/Join the email newsletter - NO spam https://gretchen-knode.mykajabi.com/freedom-camp-email-list

From Reggae to Rest: Discover Your Right Tempo

Send us Fan MailThis time of year — darker days, busy schedules, holiday expectations — our bodies start whispering… sometimes yelling, and it doesn’t always feel good.In this episode of the Freedom Camp Podcast, Gretchen invites you to slow down and discover your right tempo. Instead of pushing harder or striving for perfection, learn to listen, partner, and cooperate with the rhythms your body already knows.Through reflective questions, faith-filled encouragement, and a story inspired by Jamaica’s heartbeat rhythm — reggae — you’ll explore how peace, prayer, and movement can flow together when you align with God’s natural tempo of grace. You’ll also hear how a feast analogy can help you reframe the pressure of holiday expectations into a picture of abundance and permission.Learn to:Notice what your body is trying to tell youReframe healthy habits as partnership instead of pressureAlign your pace with God’s rhythms of graceBuild small, sustainable changes that actually lastMove with the steady beat of peace — not the rush of pressure“You don’t have to do the whole feast. Send us Fan MailWhat if the words you speak to yourself appeared on your skin — would you still see yourself as beautiful? Rewriting Your Story in the Darker Days

Send us Fan MailDo you dread the shorter days, darker mornings, and long nights that come with fall and winter? You’re not alone. Millions of people experience seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and the emotional weight that comes with this time of year. But what if — like Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit — you could rewrite your story before the hard season even begins? In this episode, I share how I took one of my biggest seasonal struggles — gloomy, dark mornings that derail my workouts — and connect with Bilbo by completely rewriting the narrative. With a few intentional changes (think: twinkle lights, sunrise connections, and cozy outdoor workouts), I transformed dread into delight, disconnection into connection, and anxiety into anticipation.🌅 What you’ll learn:~Why rewriting your story about a challenge changes everything~How to reframe seasonal affective disorder with practical, daily rhythms~Real tools to support your body, mind, and spirit during the darker months~The “Hobbit framework” for rewriting how you think, feel, and act in any seasonWhether you struggle with motivation, mood, or mindset in the fall and winter — this conversation will help you approach the months ahead with more intention, more peace, and even joy.Question for you: What story do you want to rewrite? How feeling dysregulated when someone’s sick adds to the stress.2. What to include on your list: immune support (daily + when rundown), first aid basics, symptom care, and even grounding practices for yourself.3. Why is it so hard to love ourselves through grief?

Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I reflect on a recent Freedom Camp session where the hardest part wasn’t naming our losses — it was turning toward love. Why does self-love feel so foreign when we’re grieving? Why do the simplest acts of kindness toward ourselves feel impossible? We’ll explore:Childhood messages that taught us to minimize grief. Why grief without love becomes despair — but grief wrapped in love becomes healing.Reflection questions you can carry with you:• When have I minimized my own grief because I thought it was “not a big deal”?• What did I once believe about being strong that kept me from loving myself in grief?• What are ways I’ve seen others show me love in grief that I couldn’t show myself?• What small acts of kindness toward myself felt impossible then but natural now?A personal story about blocked grief, the “dam” metaphor, and how inviting God into our grief changes everything.A closing prayer and blessing: that grief might become sacred ground, and love the soil where new life grows. If you’re navigating grief, I hope this episode helps you feel seen, reminds you that you’re not alone, and gives you permission to meet your pain with love.New here? Eat the Frog

Send us Fan Mail“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning.” – Mark TwainThis episode explores the surprising connection between soul care and “eating the frog” — tackling the hard, emotionally resistant things that drain us. Too often, we either push through without tending to our inner life (burnout) or we rest without moving forward (stagnation). Freedom comes when we do both. What you’ll hear in this episode:- What soul care really means (and why it’s not just bubble baths or self-indulgence)- How resistance and decision fatigue show up in your body and mind- Four reflection questions to help you face your “frog” with courage- One powerful soul care question that equips you to do the hard things with love and strengthJournal Prompts:- What’s my frog today?- What time will I do it?- Who am I becoming by doing it?- What is eating the frog saving me from?- What does my soul see as care, kindness, support, or love today?Key takeaway:“Soul care without movement becomes indulgence.
