She Saw America's Failures First Hand - What Is She Doing About It?

What happens when a teacher becomes a civil rights attorney and then decides to run for Congress? Today we welcome Laura Dunn, a NY-12 congressional candidate whose career has been spent fighting for people both inside the classroom and inside the courtroom. We discuss the state of public education, civil rights, government accountability, economic justice, and why so many Americans feel abandoned by the very institutions meant to serve them. This isn't a conversation about party politics—it's a conversation about the systems that shape our lives and whether meaningful change is still possible. If you've ever wondered why trust in government is declining, why our institutions seem increasingly disconnected from everyday Americans, or what real reform might look like, this episode is for you. ____________________________ SHARE THIS EPISODE NOW !!  Help to get eyes and ears on these suppressed candidates. The Biggest Lie In American Politics?

Everyone says voting third party is a wasted vote. But who benefits when voters believe they only have two choices? In this episode, I explain why I've been interviewing grassroots candidates from outside the political establishment and why expanding political awareness matters more than most people realize. But decades later, the damage didn't stop with him. In this episode, my guest Jane and I, dive into the generational effects of Agent Orange, the healthcare battles families face, and the difficult reality many children and grandchildren of veterans are living through without support or recognition from the VA system. Your Medical Bill Is A Lie - Insider Explains How You're Really Being Charged

Have you ever received a medical bill that didn't seem quite accurate or was just astronomically expensive? What if your medical bill isn't just about the care you received... but how it was coded? In this episode of From Dirt We Grow, we sit down with a medical billing and coding professional who's seen the system from the inside and isn't afraid to talk about it. Can We Remove Money From Power?

Both political parties claim to represent the people. So why does nothing ever change? Today an open-source candidate, Winston Jordan, joins me on the show. He believes neither side is working for everyday Americans — and he's done waiting for them to fix it. Frustrated with the lack of movement on HR 415 and other stalled legislation, he decided to stop complaining and start building. Literally. He programs his own platforms. He builds AI-driven communication tools. And he's running outside of traditional party structures to challenge the system from the ground up. We talk about: • Why both parties stall meaningful reform • What "open-source politics" actually means • Whether technology can restore accountability • Why grassroots candidates struggle to gain traction • And what it would take to truly disrupt the political machine This isn't just another candidate interview, this is a different way to think about and look at power. We talk about problems all the time - Broken systems, division, frustration with the way things are going...  I think we're finding that most of us actually agree on what's wrong, but not on how to fix what's wrong. This episode introduces something new I, host of From Dirt We Grow, have been invited to be a part of -- Tri-State Of Mind. A space where real conversations happen between people who don't always see things the same way, but are trying to figure it out anyway. We're trying to understand perspectives, challenge ideas, and help get society closer to something real. This One Reform Can Fix Many Other Societal Failures

Running for congress in Michigan's 2nd district is Jamie Hill. With a background in healthcare, Jamie believes that by making it a single-payer system, many other societal breakdowns will begin to dissipate. They have a solid grasp on the snowball effect that the failings our current healthcare system has across housing, employment, mental health, and the justice system. They join me today to talk about it, and what real change could look like for society when given the chance to implement this one reformation. Jamie is willing to put in the work and work for the people. They Let You Vote - But They Choose the Options

We're told to vote. Vote more. Vote every election like our lives depend on it. But after speaking with multiple candidates lately - people running without corporate money, without party machines, without special access - one truth kept surfacing. The problem isn't that people don't vote. The problem is who were allowed to vote for. So in this episode, we're breaking down how the political system filters candidates long before Election Day. Through ballot access laws, fundraising barriers, party gatekeeping, and rules most voters never see. Because by the time a name reaches your ballot, the real decisions have often already been made. This is about understanding why good candidates struggle to be seen and why so many elections feel like choosing between pre approved options instead of real representation. Because the truth is, we are voting. So the problem isn't on the people, it's on the system. ___________________________ SUBSCRIBE NOW FOR MORE UNFILTERED TRUTH! The Conversation Corporate-Backed Politicians Don't Want Us Having

When did politics stop serving people — and start serving donors? Or has it always been that way?In this conversation, I sit down with Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong to talk about the issues that rarely get honest airtime: corporate influence, the truth about Wisconsin's prison stats, and the real-life consequences for working families, and farms, across Wisconsin.Full transparency, this is a system that prioritizes special interests over the people who keep this state, along with every other state across the country, running. From housing and healthcare to labor, accountability, and representation — this is the conversation corporate-backed politics deflect at all costs. This Unacceptable Injustice Happens More Often Than You Think

What happens when the justice system gets it wrong — and refuses to fix it? In this episode, I sit down with a co-founder of Voiceless Behind Bars, an organization dedicated to helping the wrongfully convicted and exposing serious flaws in the justice system. We talk about how innocent people end up behind bars, why so many cases are overlooked, and what it really takes to fight for freedom after a wrongful conviction. This conversation dives into wrongful convictions, criminal justice reform, prison injustice, prosecutorial misconduct, and the long road to exoneration. We also discuss the emotional and financial toll these cases take on individuals and families, and why accountability in the legal system matters more than ever. You Can't Heal What You Refuse To Acknowledge

We seem to accept anxiety and depression as personal problems — but what if they're actually responses to the societal and political climate we're living in? In this episode, I've invited Christine, a progressive counselor to the show. Her focus is across the lifespan — from kids and adolescents, to adults and healthcare workers — specializing in trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. Together, we explore what therapists are seeing right now, why "nothing's happening in my town" doesn't mean nothing is happening to us; and how privilege, hypervigilance, and community play a part in affecting our mental health. From Midwest resilience to collective burnout, this episode challenges the idea that healing can happen in isolation — and asks what it really means to acknowledge reality rather than avoiding it. Or worse, mistreating it. __________________________ JOIN THE FROM DIRT WE GROW FAMILY, SUBSCRIBE NOW! ______________________________________ Find Christine on socials under the tag: Life_as_a_counselor __________________________ *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc.

They Followed the Rules - And Still Got Silenced

What happens when everyday citizens try to use the constitution the way it was intended - to hold those in power accountable? That's just what Citizen's Impeachment has set out to do, an online movement that gained real momentum before it was suddenly stopped in it's tracks. According to one of the founders, Keira Havens, it wasn't lack of support that postponed their goal - it goes much deeper than that. She tells us how it started, and where and why it hit a wall. But that still did not stop them. Their efforts remain strong, the mission stays in sight. What's important to remember when learning about a citizen-led movement such as this, is the reason it's even necessary for the people to have organized in the first place. And that's because the rest of the elected officials in place to advocate for us, are not doing their jobs.  __________________________ SHARE THIS EPISODE NOW! __________________________ Find Citizen's Impeachment on socials: website - https://www.citizensimpeachment.com Also on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky under the name Citizens Impeachment ___________________________ *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc.

From Classroom To Congress: Why This Teacher Refuses To Stay Silent

Everyone agrees the system is broken — especially our education system. But how many of us are willing to step up to run against the political big dogs and do something about it? In this episode, I sit down with a congressional candidate from Louisiana who has spent his career inside the classroom, witnessing firsthand how policy decisions made from afar impact students, teachers, and families, every single day. Instead of just complaining, he chose action — running for office to be part of the solution. His main focus for the Bayou State? Improving education and the infastructure within the 4th district, for stsrters. Today, Matt Gromlich discusses with us why real change requires ordinary people to step up. As well as why that requires everyday people to vote a bit different this time around.  This is about leadership, accountability, and choosing to act instead of staying silent. _____________________________________   Find today's guest, Matt Gromlich, here: fightersforourfuture.com _____________________________________   *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc.

Candidate For Governor Focused On Citizen-led Oversight, Accountability Beyond the Ballot Box

Voting alone hasn't been enough and people are finally asking why. In this episode, I sit down with Rodney Glover, a gubernatorial candidate who's running on a bold idea: giving citizens constitutional, binding authority to hold elected officials accountable beyond the ballot box. This is where real issues meet real change: Why voting every few years isn't real accountability How power drifted away from the people What citizen-led oversight could actually look like and why it's important The difference between symbolic reform and structural change Why this race isn't about left versus right, it's about control versus consent This is a conversation about who actually holds power and how that could actually change.  We're constantly told that we need to get out and vote to make a difference, yet it's not about the voting numbers this time around as much as it's about who we're listening to, who we're trusting with our voices and our lives, and if we decide it's time to break away from the same old system that's not working for the people. Join the conversation. Question everything. Change the game. _______________________________________________ SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!! _______________________________________________ Find more from today's guest, Rodney Glover: https://linktr.ee/rodney.c.glover ______________________________________________ *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc.   This is a public episode. There are reports of explosions and air activity in Venezuela, with the Venezuelan government accusing the US of carrying out military strikes inside the country. The Season Ends, The Movement Continues

This episode brings season 1 of From Dirt We Grow to a close. Throughout the past year, we hit some of the heaviest topics society faces: corruption, inequality, systemic hypocrisy, the credit scam, immigration bias, the prison machine, and so much more. We also gave everyday people a place to speak and share their stories. As we head into Christmas and New Years, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday. The second season of the show will resume in January, with so much more unfiltered truth. Thank you for being part of this grassroots movement, and remember, this is just the beginning. ______________________________   Join the From Dirt We Grow family, hit subscribe today!  _____________________________   *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc.

Crisis In America. The Way To Stop It Starts Right HERE.

America is in crisis - and most of the politicians in power don't feel it, don't see it, or don't care.  But the people do. People that are living it everyday. People like Robert People. A grassroots congressional candidate who stepped up not for fame, not for money, not for a career... but because he was watching the country fall apart and couldn't sit back and watch anymore. Running for Florida's 15th district and not intimidated by the uphill battle it will take to get a seat in the House of Representatives.  This episode covers government failings, issues being ignored by leaders, and most importantly, solutions to some of those problems.  If you're tired of being lied to.... tired of the greed... tired of watching the working class get crushed... this episode is for you. Real change starts with us, and voting for the candidates that are running for the right reasons, not greed or power, is the first step.   ______________________________________   Don't forget to share this episode with your friends!  ______________________________________   Find today's guest on socials: @robertpeopleforcongress _________________________________   *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc.

Black Men Found Hanging Across America. Where's the Media Coverage?

Why are so many Black men across the United States being found hanging - and why are every one of them almost immediately dismissed with "no signs of foul play" without any real investigation? Yes, I'm referring to now, modern-day. The trend has become too strong to ignore. It's time to confront the disturbing rise in suspicious hanging deaths of Black men in America. It's time to bring these stories to the fore-front, get eyes and ears on them, because the media is not. It's time to ask the real questions surrounding the circumstances. Were these deaths truly "by their own hand"... or is something far more sinister at play? Today we'll look at such cases as the one involving Donte Perez Jones, a military veteran whose 2022 death was declared as having no foul play involved, within hours, despite multiple suspicious circumstances. As well as a 21 year old truck driver, Javion MaGee, found dead far from his Chicago home in a town he'd never been before.  These aren't isolated incidents or simple tragedies. These cases along with so many more, fit a pattern that echoes America's darkest, ugliest part of history. All too often a history that's too uncomfortable for many to address, keeping the too uncomfortable conversations that are so needed, silenced. Well guess what, I really have zero concern as to the comfort level of those who'd rather ignore the truth and allow this to continue, than acknowledge it and stand for justice and accountability from law enforcement. Pretending it doesn't exist, doesn't make it go away. Standing up and calling it out, does.   Subscribe and stay tuned, we're just getting started.  _____________________________________ SOURCES: Newsone Crooked Whitpain the tribe WISN msmagazine _______________________________________ *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc. Obama Created Division? WRONG!! You Can't Create What Already Exists. Exposing It However...

Did Barack Obama really "divide America"? Or did America finally get exposed for what it already was? In today's episode we breakdown one of the most persistent political myths of the last decade - the idea that Obama somehow made the country more hostile, tense, or divided. We dig into the psychology, the media spin, the historical context, and the uncomfortable truth that many people still avoid. This episode looks at: Why the "Obama caused division" narrative became so popular The media machine that turned discomfort into outrage How visibility and technology exposed problems that already existed Why some groups feel threatened by a shift in representation The real legacy of the Obama years that people forget How the myth was used to justify the political backlash that followed If you've ever wondered why certain people insist that the country fell apart under Obama, even though the facts say otherwise, this episode brings clarity and truth without sugar coating anything. _______________________________________________   Join the From Dirt We Grow family, hit subscribe today!   _________________________________________   *intro/outro audio: The Plot Thickens by Joshua Spacht Owner: Soundstripe, Inc. ________________________________________________   SOURCES: NIH
