This week we are joined by Ginny and her friend, Stephanie, for an episode from a completely different perspective. Stephanie is currently fighting cancer (or in her words: Cancer is fighting her). It's fair to say that she has one of the best attitudes we've encountered so far and it was a privilege to hear her story. Whether she's competing in a roller derby bout as "Leche GaGa" or giving the finger to the Grim Reaper, Stephanie does not let anything get her down. We can't even begin to describe the magic that happened while recording this episode-- it's better if you just listen.

This week Casey gets inspired by a documentary about the Wild West (also a dream about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck). Her research includes burial practices of the Wild West and funerals of celebrity outlaws.

On this week's episode of Funeral Stories, Laura researches how they bury the dead in Alaska while Casey follows up with the important questions like, "What kind of trees grow in Alaska?". First we go back in time to talk about indigenous customs and then some stories from a modern funeral director and how burials work in such a wild landscape. Inspiration for this topic came from the book, "Welcome to the GD Ice Cube" by Blair Braverman.

On this week’s episode, we introduce a new guest (and friend), Rae. Though technically new to the funeral industry, her relationship with death goes way back. Rae is definitely an inspiration to anyone out there struggling with a crossroads in your life.
