Three weeks after beating Kildare, Galway stand 70 minutes away from reaching an All-Ireland senior football quarter-final in Croke Park, as they host Leinster champions Westmeath in Round 2A on Sunday (14th June 2026). The Tribesmen will be favourites but the Lake County have caused problems in the past, and will be full of confidence having beaten Longford, Meath, Kildare, Dublin and Cavan to reach this stage. While Galway won thier previous championship meeting in 2024 (1-12 to 0-11), Westmeath's last visit to Salthill saw them leave victors in 2006 (1-8 to 0-10). Galway Bodybuilder Wins Bronze At Amateur Olympia In Spain
A young bodybuilder from Knocknacarra has returned from Spain where she won bronze at the highly prestigious Amateur Olympia. 21 year old Taylor Brown won bronze last weekend in Alicante to go with the gold and silver won at Muscle Contest Ireland that was held in Dublin last month. Taylor has been involved in Bodybuilding for the past two years and she spoke to John Mulligan about her success and her career so far.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that Galway United's upcoming Premier Division game with Dundalk will be held at Turners Cross in Cork on Friday evening. The game was origionally scheduled for Pearse Stadium as Eamon Deacy Park is undergoing ground works. However, this was not possible following the draw for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Round 2A which sees Galway take on Westmeath on Sunday afternoon at the same venue. The decision to hold the game at Turners Cross has led to angry reactions by supporters from both clubs. Galway United Manager John Caulfield spoke to John Mulligan about the decision to hold the game in Cork.

The European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability Annual Congres is taking place in Galway this week with exhibitions in adapted surfing, frame running, wheelchair céilí dancing, accessible climbing and much more. Connacht Rugby host an Inclusion Festival on Saturday (6th June), while at University of Galway's Kingfisher, a Wheelchair Hurling Exhibition takes place featuring players from Connacht and Munster. The exhibition begins at the Kingfisher from 1pm with a juvenile game, before the adult match at 2.30pm. And a Come & Try session takes place after that.
