Breaking Through the Fear: Your Fellowship Journey Starts Here

Welcome back to the GatherHood Podcast! This week, we’re diving deep into a topic that so many of us wrestle with: fear. Specifically, the fear that can hold us back from stepping into fellowship, leadership, or even just saying “yes” to that next step God has called us to. Whether you’re worried about rejection, unsure of your gifts, or hesitant about the unknown, this episode is for you.We start the episode by grounding ourselves in a simple practice: naming how we’re feeling in one word. It’s a small but impactful step toward self-awareness and intentionality, something you’ll see woven throughout today’s conversation. As always, we root ourselves in scripture, starting with 2 Timothy 1:7: *"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."* Paul’s encouraging words to Timothy remind us that fear is not from God; instead, He equips us with power, love, and clarity for the journey ahead. In the main segment, we explore the common fears that arise when starting fellowship. Drawing inspiration from Joshua 1:9, we reflect on God’s command to “be strong and courageous” and His promise to be with us wherever we go. I share my personal story of starting GatherHood—the doubts I had about not fitting the mold of a perfect host, not knowing enough scripture, and questioning whether I was “good” enough. These fears, I realized, were tools of the enemy, aiming to hold me back. But as I stepped out in faith, I saw how God worked through me as His vessel, reminding me that the results were always in His hands. We also address fears that many of you might resonate with:  - The fear of commitment.  - The fear of rejection.  - The fear of stepping into the unknown.  But we don’t stop there. This episode is about more than acknowledging fears—it’s about overcoming them. Using 1 Peter 4:10 as our guide, we discuss practical steps for stepping into fellowship:  - Start small and manageable to build confidence and rhythm.  - Lean on resources and community support to ease the pressure.  - Be open and honest about your feelings with someone you trust. Often, the self-doubt we experience is rooted in untruths, and hearing an outside perspective can be incredibly freeing.  As we wrap up, I offer words of encouragement and revisit the scriptures that have guided our conversation. From Timothy’s reminder that God has given us power, love, and a sound mind, to Joshua’s call to courage, to Peter’s encouragement to use our gifts, we see a consistent theme: God’s faithfulness is unshakable, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. If you’re unsure about your gifts, ask God to reveal them—and stay tuned for next month’s episode, where we’ll explore discovering and honing your unique gifts in greater depth.  Before we go, I’d love for you to take the next step by joining SisterHood.
