A minute for - The hottest day of the year
Welcome back girlies, gays & the GMAM gang! 💜This week it’s just the two of us, and let’s just say… recording in the middle of the hottest day of the year was certainly a choice 🥵We’re absolutely melting from start to finish as we try to survive the heat, keep the dogs cool, and stop ourselves from arguing purely because our brains have turned to mush. 🫠 We chat about whether global warming is finally catching up with us, how the heat can affect your mental health (especially if you’re on medication), and Robyn opens up about experiencing dissociation. We chat about Robyn’s dog George causing absolute carnage. We tell the story of him launching himself out the window, somehow surviving to steal an entire lasagne off the kitchen counter, and generally continuing his mission to give Robyn a heart attack. We also discuss Jess’s latest TikTok Shop obsession in her quest to fix her scalp, catch you up on some exciting plans we’ve got coming up for the podcast, and, as always, somehow end up going completely off topic about twenty-seven different times.📧 Business enquiries & listener stories: [email protected]💜 Follow us on Instagram & TikTok @givemeaminutepod⭐ If you’re loving the podcast, don’t forget to follow the show and leave us a rating on Spotify – it genuinely makes such a difference and helps more people find GMAM.We love you all so much. Rob chats about her identity, internalised homophobia, feeling like a fraud in queer spaces, and the constant battle of learning to fully accept herself. Of course, it wouldn’t be a GMAM episode without a complete change of topic every three minutes. We get into therapy, weddings, missing our close friends, reality TV drama, self-employment, financial stress, codependent friendships, and why making friends as adults is actually so hard.We also celebrate everything that’s happened with the podcast recently, chat about the incredible community that’s forming around GMAM, and talk about the kind of guests and conversations we want to keep bringing you.And yes… somehow we also end up discussing a genuinely traumatic bird incident. 🐦😭We are so happy you’re here 🖤 📧 Business & listener stories: [email protected]💅 Follow us on Instagram & TikTok @givemeaminutepod⭐ If you’re enjoying the podcast, don’t forget to follow the show and leave us a rating on Spotify – it genuinely helps us more than you know.We love you divas. We have a really honest conversation about mental health, with Robyn opening up about her experience with anxiety, medication, and the events that led to finally seeking help.We chat about recovering from a completely burnt-out nervous system, friends stepping in when things get tough, and why asking for help is sometimes the bravest thing you can do.There’s also plenty of life updates, including Robyn’s laparoscopy journey, Electric Picnic outfit dilemmas, podcast editing disasters and some very extra birthday planning. One minute we’re discussing serious life lessons and the next we’re exposing just how unhealthy our friendship might actually be.✨ Follow us on Instagram & TikTok: @givemeaminutepod💌 Email: [email protected]⭐ If you’re enjoying the podcast, don’t forget to follow the show and leave us a rating on Spotify - it helps more people discover the GMAM gang and means the world to us.We love you divas. Welcome back girlies, gays, theys & the GMAM gang 💜This week we’re joined by the incredible Maggie -Producer Kay’s mam, for what is undoubtedly one of the most powerful and emotional conversations we’ve ever had on the podcast.Maggie opens up about her childhood growing up in an incredibly difficult home environment, navigating family addiction, poverty, neglect and trauma from a very young age. She shares what it was like caring for her younger siblings, the involvement of social services throughout her childhood, entering foster care, and the lasting impact those experiences had on her life.We talk about becoming a mother at just 16 years old, her struggles with mental health over the years, and the challenges she’s faced while trying to build a different life for herself and her family. Maggie also speaks honestly about her complicated relationship with her own mother and how love, forgiveness and family can exist alongside pain and difficult memories. This is a conversation about survival, resilience, motherhood and finding strength in the most unimaginable circumstances. It’s a deeply moving episode, but as always, there are laughs, honesty and moments of warmth throughout. We laughed, we cried, and by the end of it we were completely in awe of Maggie. This is one of the most important conversations we’ve had on Give Me A Minute, and we’re so grateful she trusted us with her story.✨ Follow us on Instagram & TikTok: @givemeaminutepod💌 Email: [email protected] episodes every Tuesday. A minute for - Paige’s Puss Flora
Welcome back girlies, gays, theys & the GMAM gang! 💋This week we’re joined once again by everyone’s favourite Ballyfermot icon, Paige Behan, for what might be our most educational and chaotic episode yet. After last week’s conversation about Paige’s journey, this episode gets into all the questions people are usually too afraid to ask. Paige opens up about her gender-affirming surgery, recovery, what life is like afterwards, and answers the questions she’s been asked a million times over the years. We discuss the extensive assessment process required to access gender-affirming surgery, including the multiple psychiatric assessments and medical approvals that trans people are often required to undergo before receiving treatment. We also have a really honest conversation about fertility, with Paige speaking about finding out as a teenager that she was infertile, how that affected her growing up, and the wider conversations around fertility and family planning within the trans community. As always, it’s not all serious - there’s plenty of laughs, oversharing, questionable questions, and absolutely no topic left untouched 💅 (understatement of the year) ✨ Follow us on Instagram & TikTok: @givemeaminutepod💌 Email: [email protected] episodes every Tuesday. A minute for OCD, Cheese & STI’s
It’s just Robyn and Jess this week, bringing it back to the two of us doing what we do best! Jess has low vitamin D and calcium, despite eating an impressive amount of cheese. Turns out the Irish weather is killing us all with the lack of vitamin D..We talk about the reality of “having a village” and why it only works if you’re willing to be a villager too, the absolute comedians that live in the TikTok comment sections, Olympic speed skating and the bums that come with it. Then Robyn drops lore with gift giving and bug chasing that had Jess shook! Half through the episode things get more serious. Jess opens up about living with intense health anxiety, constant catastrophising, and OCD traits that make everyday thoughts spiral into worst-case scenarios. Robyn gently challenges her on it and suggests something Jess has been avoiding, actually facing it and talking to a therapist instead of just pushing through.Funny, chaotic, and unexpectedly honest , this episode goes from messing and laughs to a very real conversation about anxiety and mental health.Basically: cheese, STIs , and a potential therapy breakthrough.

You’re “on Ozempic.”Train for a 5K? You’re obsessed.Do nothing? You’ve “let yourself go.”The internet has opinions on everything, especially women’s bodies. We also get into the TikTok Shop takeover. When did every scroll turn into an ad? If creators in Ireland aren’t getting proper monetisation tools like the Creator Fund, is it any surprise feeds are flooded with product links? We then realise that actually we just HATE ads and pay every subscription known to man to avoid them 🥲And then we spiral into nostalgia land, pirated DVDs, the 3-for-a-tenner man, xtravision nights & sun beds, and growing up in peak 2000s Ireland. It’s opinionated. We jump from Turkmenistan and its infamous leader to Whittier, Alaska where everyone lives in one building and uses tunnels to get around! We’ve Jess’s sister Tia off camera as our live Googler and fact checker- marking this first time we’ve had another human on the pod! There’s also money chat, Dyson airwraps, €500 for new clothes, blowing through Do Not Disturb, having Google maps on for every journey and a dark funny moment involving stress, money and a seizure (everyone is ok!) A minute for -the apology, the comeback, propaganda
This week is equal parts apology tour, comeback arc and accidental political spiral. We’re owning up to not taking the pod seriously enough (sorry besties), but we’re BACK with a new plan, a hired producer, locked-in weekly episodes and a strategy to make sure we actually keep showing up.Naturally, once the admin chat is out of the way, we descend straight into our latest hyperfixations, Robyn is deep in a YouTube rabbit hole about the Concorde plane and China (yes, really) while Jess is spiralling over US influencers, insane wealth, massive mortgages and overconsumption.Somehow, it all turns into a heavier, more political conversation than usual, with Robyn talking about human rights for everyone, and the current state of the world - especially in America. It’s still very much us, still very much the craic, but with a bit more weight behind it.Come for the comeback, stay for the chaos, leave with something to think about.Hope you love xoxo,Mystery producer, Robyn & Jess
