Stocks finished slightly lower, the dollar slipped marginally, bonds were basically unchanged, and there wasn’t a major news event to explain it. Gold, however, surged $171, or 4.2%, to around $4,248, while silver gained $2.53, also about 4.3%, to nearly $62. What’s remarkable is that gold and silver rose by almost identical percentages. Usually, silver dramatically outperforms during rallies like this, so that stood out.

Rick Rule: Why the Metals Aren't Dead and When I'm Buying More
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit vblgoldfix.substack.comRick Rule reflects on his recent investment symposium, where seasoned gold investors viewed the 30% price decline as a buying opportunity while newer participants remained uneasy. He also noted that quality mining companies continue to attract capital, increasingly from majors and family offices rather than speculative investors.Rick also expects a surge in mining M&A as major producers seek growth after years of underinvestment, creating opportunities for investors who can identify likely takeover targets. He remains cautious on near-term gold prices due to a strong dollar and higher rates, while arguing that official inflation data understates rising living costs. Rule also stresses disciplined junior-stock selection, backing only proven management teams, and remains bullish on oil and uranium due to chronic underinvestment and tightening future supply.EnjoyTimestamps: 00:00:00 - Introduction 00:00:50 - Conference Sentiment on Metals 00:06:42 - Quality Companies Access Capital 00:09:47 - M&A Trends in Mining Sector 00:18:00 - Worthless Juniors Phenomenon 00:20:14 - Gold Acting as Risk Asset 00:24:54 - Inflation CPI and Dollar 00:26:45 - Education Versus Emotional Investing 00:31:15 - Portfolio Building Strategies 00:37:05 - Warrants & Private Placements 00:40:00 - Eggs and Basket Positioning 00:44:40 - Energy Shocks and Nuclear 00:53:35 - Battle Bank Services Explained 00:58:39 - Rule Symposium Recordings 01:04:00 - Concluding Thoughts

Jesse Felder: This is the Type of Setup You Look For as an Investor
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit vblgoldfix.substack.comA GoldFix- Competent Investor Joint PresentationTom Bodrovics sat down with Jesse Felder, founder, editor, and publisher of The Felder Report, for a wide-ranging discussion on oil, market sentiment, AI, and where investors may be missing the real opportunity. The conversation focused on the sharp disconnect in today’s energy market. Jesse discussed how oil inventories have fallen toward historic lows while institutional investors remain deeply bearish on the sector. That gap between fundamentals and positioning, he argued, may be one of the most important signals in markets today. They also covered the potential impact of depleted strategic petroleum reserves, future demand for oil, and the geopolitical backdrop that could continue to pressure supply. Jesse explained why energy may still be undervalued even after a strong five-year run, especially as investor attention remains concentrated on AI and a narrow group of technology stocks. The discussion also touched on cash flow, capital discipline, and the broader risk of investors chasing the most crowded parts of the market while ignoring sectors with improving fundamentals. For viewers looking to better understand today’s market setup, Jesse brings a seasoned, contrarian perspective shaped by years in hedge funds, research, and publishing.Tom BodrovicsJesse Felder

They do it to cool speculation and control risk. But this time, margin requirements were raised after gold had already been falling for several months. That is what makes it strange.
