Welcome to the 💌💗GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP🪩🍒‼️. This is my radio show on KSFS Radio at San Francisco State where I talk all things pop culture, my research on grief and media, and answer your advice questions. This week we had a very special guest: husband of GRIEF AND MEDIA Jack Molmud! We discuss our anniversary (on 4/20), Netflix’s Something Very Bad is Going to Happen and its themes of relationship dynamics and mortality, and answer the following advice questions:★ I’m feeling really torn about marriage and kids. The more books I read written by women the more it’s clear that basically most women throughout history regret getting married and having kids (even if they won’t say the words “I regret it” everything always gets way harder on the woman). Also you lose both your first and last name (“mom”, traditionally taking man’s last name) so like how can anyone agree to losing your whole identity when millions of women that came before us are a testament to the fact that it is most often a permanent downgrade in quality of life? But that being said I love kids I think they’re fantastic and I’d love to have some of my own and I love my boyfriend and I do see “forever” with him. So I’m losing it!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the 💌💗GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP🪩🍒‼️. This is my radio show on KSFS Radio at San Francisco State where I talk all things pop culture, my research on grief and media, and answer your advice questions. This week I discuss 2026, the importance of physical media, how The Traitors normalizes conversations about death, and answer the following advice questions:★ My boyfriend of two months recently broke things off because his ex from 1.5 years ago (who lives in another country but was like the love of his life) broke no contact and said everything he wanted to hear back when they broke up. He said he loves me (said for first time during the breakup…) and wants to stay with me but he’s too emotionally confused now and needs time to sort out his feelings on his own, so it might just be a temporary break depending on how that goes. I get he needs space to sort out his feelings and I think he handled things honestly and maturely considering the situation, but I’m struggling a lot with the uncertainty and if taking him back after all this would be a good idea. The relationship was 10/10 before this. Any wisdom is appreciated!★ Supporting a partner in grief, specifically for holidays/times of the year that are harder for them ! grief support group #5 💌 on being friends with exes, missing my mom, and navigating friendship after parental loss
Welcome to the 💌💗GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP🪩🍒‼️. This is my radio show on KSFS Radio at San Francisco State where I talk all things pop culture, my research on grief and media, and answer your advice questions. This week I discuss missing my mom, the concept of being friends with exes, earnestly dating, and answer the following advice questions:★ Can you please give advice on how to navigate this situation with my friend? I am at a loss of what to do at this point. My dad died 10 months ago, and it was really unexpected. During the week after he died, I had a friend offer to bring over dinner. Her dad had passed the year prior and I was grateful to have someone to lean on who gets it, especially because most of my close friends/family aren’t nearby. She ended up saying there was too much traffic and said I should come over to her house the next week (which I absolutely did not have the energy to do). I was so deep in my grief (and just shock) at that time that I didn’t realize how hurtful it was until I had a moment to process it later. I thought maybe it was too much for her but she has historically only done what was convenient for her in our friendship. She started to randomly text me - a hug and heart emoji on Father’s Day and “just wanted to say I’m thinking of you” texts every few months. She text me “thinking of you” again this week but she’s never asked how I’m doing beyond these texts. I don’t know what to do at this point because it just feels so surface level. Would love your advice!★ How do I help my friend who really self sabotages themself. They are going through a tough time 24/7 it seems and I feel as though I’m watching them hurt themselves (ex: self deprecating comments, substance abuse, no impulse control).Ask your advice questions anonymously here: bit.ly/ksfsadviceHere’s the music I played this week: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3efDjcUXOyj7MAgDx9GufC?si=imzDCtZ6SOiVp1qu_EUesgIf you want to play the music alongside the audio:Introduction segmentMusic break [running out of time, main thing]Research segment Music break [You Don’t Know My Name]Advice segment 1 Music break [Boy’s a liar Pt. 2]Advice segment 2 and outroListen live next time on Tuesdays from 9-10 a.m. PST at ksfsmedia.net or by downloading the KSFS radio app. 🪩 See you there! grief support group #4 💌 on situationships, Saturn returns, and death anniversaries
Welcome to the 💌💗GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP🪩🍒‼️. This is my radio show on KSFS Radio at San Francisco State where I talk all things pop culture, my research on grief and media, and answer your advice questions. This week I discuss my Saturn return (help LMAO), the importance of telling stories about grief in media, and answer the following advice questions:★ How do you react to past situationships trying to slide back into your life after being on and off for a year? Our latest no contact was a month. This feels like disrespect when they keep trying to spin the block on me.★ We’re coming up on the 1 year anniversary of my Abuelita’s passing. My mom has started to go through her belongings to clean out her space but it has been a tough and emotional process for her as she finds candy/little trinkets in her pockets and even remnants of her hair that were left on her sweaters. She also feels as though she’s giving up a piece of her by doing this and that my Abuelita would be upset at her for cleaning out her belongings.
