Trevor King | Finding My Identity // Episode 46

Who are we really, and why are we here? In this episode, Pastor Randy sits down with Trevor King for an honest conversation about identity, purpose, and the search for meaning. Raised in the church but feeling disconnected from God personally, Trevor shares what it looked like to go through the motions while searching for identity everywhere else. From chasing status, independence, achievement, partying, relationships, and different expressions of identity, there was still a lingering feeling that something was missing. Even after exploring success, sexuality, masculinity, and self-definition, fulfillment always seemed just out of reach. Trevor also speaks openly about feeling hurt and disconnected from church culture while still carrying empathy for people trying to figure out who they are and where they belong. Then came surrender. After years of searching and trying to carry life alone, anxiety and stress reached a point where nothing seemed to help. In that place, surrendering to God became the turning point that changed everything. Now, Trevor’s identity is no longer rooted in status, achievement, or approval, but in being a child of God. This episode is about searching, wrestling, surrender, and discovering that real transformation only comes through the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit.

What is water baptism really about, and why do so many people hesitate to take that step?In this episode, Pastors Randy and Nate have an honest and encouraging conversation about the meaning, purpose, and importance of water baptism. They share personal stories, walk through what Scripture teaches, and unpack why baptism is far more than just a church tradition. It is a public declaration of faith, an act of obedience, and a powerful expression of identity in Christ.Together, they explore what baptism represents: dying to the old life, being raised to new life in Jesus, and publicly identifying with Him. They also discuss why Jesus Himself was baptized and why baptism became an immediate step for believers throughout the early church. The conversation also addresses common reasons people avoid baptism, including fear, pressure from others, misunderstanding salvation, procrastination, and spiritual resistance. Randy and Nate remind listeners that baptism is not about having everything together. It is about obedience and taking the next step in following Jesus. If you have ever wondered whether baptism really matters, what it symbolizes, or what may be holding you back, this episode is for you.

It did not seem like a big deal at the time, but it set a direction that unfolded over the years through blackouts, rehab, depression, self-reliance, and ultimately surrender at the foot of the cross. This story is not just about alcoholism. Why We Worship the Way We Do // Episode 41

In this episode, Pastor Hadley and Lexi walk through the biblical foundation of worship and challenge us as a church family to move beyond comfort, preference, and cultural norms into worship that is shaped by God’s Word.Worship is not meant to be passive or held back. It is a full response to who God is and what He has done. They explore seven Hebrew expressions of worship found throughout Scripture:Zamar — instrumental worship Worship is not just singing. Scripture shows us that playing instruments is an act of praise to God.Tehillah — spontaneous singing A personal, unrehearsed song that flows from remembering what God has done.Yadah / Towdah — lifted hands and sacrificial praise Worshiping with our hands, even in difficult seasons. Choosing to praise before breakthrough comes.Barak — kneeling before the Lord A posture of surrender and humility in a self-focused culture.Shabach — loud, exuberant praise Bold, expressive worship that reflects the worth of God.Halal — uninhibited, even “foolish” praise Worship that is free from fear of man and full of joy in God’s presence.Throughout the conversation, Hadley and Lexi challenge us to lay down fear and step into worship the way God designed it—formed by Scripture, not by comfort. If you’ve ever wondered why we raise our hands, sing spontaneously, or express worship in different ways, this episode will bring clarity and invite you into a deeper, freer response to God.Join Us for Worship Night & Water BaptismsAll locations + Youth gathering together to worship!April 8 | 6:30–8pmSanctuary Events Center, 670 4th Ave N, Fargo

Why Easter Still Matters // Episode 40

In this conversation, Pastors Randy and Nate unpack why the resurrection of Jesus remains the defining event of the Christian faith. Easter is not simply a tradition or a historical moment. It is the foundation of everything Christians believe. They explore how the resurrection confirms that Jesus truly is who He claimed to be, proving His authority and validating the message of the gospel. They also discuss how the empty tomb declares victory over sin and death, giving believers confidence that death does not have the final word. The resurrection is not only about our future hope. Because Jesus rose from the dead, believers are given new life today. The same power that raised Christ now works in those who trust in Him, bringing transformation, freedom, and living hope. Finally, Randy and Nate reflect on how the resurrection guarantees our eternal future. Jesus is described as the “first fruits,” meaning His resurrection points to what is coming for all who believe.Easter reminds us that because Christ is risen, our lives today and our future forever are filled with hope.Learn more about Easter with Harvest Valley Church here!

From Atheism to Faith // Episode 39

What happens when a curious mind begins asking deeper questions about the universe, truth, and meaning? In this episode, Pastor Randy Hahne sits down with Austin Sailer to talk about his journey from atheism and agnosticism to Christian faith. Austin works in biotech and has always been driven by curiosity — wanting to understand how the universe works. Growing up in a home where religion wasn’t often discussed, faith wasn’t a major part of his life. In college, he was exposed to natural science and the theory of evolution in a deeper way. The ideas were compelling and led him to conclude that God wasn’t necessary to explain the universe. As he continued studying and observing the natural world, something began to shift. The remarkable design he saw in nature started raising questions that pure material explanations couldn’t easily answer. That observation became a catalyst that moved him toward agnosticism — the realization that there might be more behind the universe than he had previously considered. From there, several other factors began shaping his journey: the “language-like” structure embedded in creation, the historical evidence surrounding Jesus and the Bible, the challenge of grounding morality in a purely scientific framework, and the widespread documentation of near-death experiences. The shift toward Christianity didn’t happen overnight. It unfolded through a series of moments — conversations with his wife, becoming a father, beginning to attend church, and eventually encountering the presence of the Holy Spirit and opening himself to personal transformation. Austin’s story is thoughtful, honest, and compelling for anyone who has wrestled with the relationship between science, evidence, and faith!

    Dating & Relationships // Episode 38

Dating shapes more than your weekends — it shapes your future. In this episode, Pastor Whitney shares from her own experiences and offers practical, Christ-centered guidance for navigating dating and relationships with wisdom and intentionality.Together, we explore questions like: How do you focus on becoming the right person instead of just finding the right person? How do you discern if someone is truly the right one? What does it look like to pursue Jesus while you’re dating? How should couples think about physical boundaries? This conversation isn’t about rules for the sake of rules. It’s about alignment, health, and building relationships that honor God and protect your heart.Whether you’re single, dating, or supporting someone who is, this episode offers clarity, encouragement, and practical direction for doing relationships differently.

Why Invest in Your Marriage // Episode 37

Healthy marriages don’t happen by accident. They’re built with intention. In Episode 4.7, Elder Brad and Candy Morrow share their story — the years that have shaped their marriage, the seasons that stretched them, and the lessons they had to learn the hard way. They speak candidly about moments when their marriage needed strengthening and what changed when they chose to invest instead of drift.Together, they unpack why even good marriages slowly weaken without intentional focus. They address common struggles couples face today, the subtle areas many couples assume they’re “fine” in (but likely aren’t), and why waiting for crisis is never the goal.Brad and Candy also share why they said yes to leading the 8-week Alpha Marriage Course and what makes it different from trying to figure things out on your own. Whether newly married or decades in, this course offers practical tools to strengthen communication, deepen connection, and build long-term resilience. They also address honest hesitations:Is this only for couples in crisis? Will I need to share all of my marriage problems? What if our marriage is already strong? Most of all, this episode offers hope. When couples invest intentionally, growth happens. Connection deepens. Unity strengthens. If you’re married, this conversation is for you — not because something is wrong, but because something can grow.Find current course offerings here: bit.ly/hvc-register

Behind the Call to North Fargo // Episode 36

What does it actually cost to say yes to God?In this episode, Pastors Nate and Whitney Leedahl speak candidly about the story behind the launch of our North Fargo location—not just the logistics, but the discernment, stretching, and personal formation that came with it.They take us back to the early moments when they first sensed God might be calling them to step into something new. What hesitations surfaced? How did they discern together as a couple? They reflect on the prayers, confirmations, and anchor points that gave them clarity when the path felt uncertain.Launching a new location wasn’t just a leadership assignment—it impacted their rhythms, margins, family life, and marriage. In this honest conversation, they talk about the personal cost, the areas where they felt stretched, and what they discovered about themselves and about God in the process.Beyond the logistics, they reflect on culture—what kind of church environment they were intentional to build from day one, how they empowered others to take ownership, and the moments that reminded them why the mission matters. For anyone feeling stirred to step out in faith—whether to serve, give, lead, or simply trust God in a new season—this conversation offers both encouragement and perspective. If you could go back to day one of a big step of obedience, what would you tell yourself now? That question closes a powerful and personal episode about calling, discernment, and trusting God when He invites you into something bigger than yourself.

    Set Apart | Why 1 Corinthians? // Episode 34

Hosted by Pastor Randy and Pastor Nate, this episode introduces our new series Set Apart and invites our church into the heart behind walking through 1 Corinthians together. Why would a modern church spend time in a letter written to a messy, divided church in a morally confused city? Because the challenges Corinth faced feel strikingly familiar. Division, moral confusion, spiritual pride, questions about freedom, worship, and leadership—this letter speaks directly to the tensions we navigate today. In this conversation, Randy and Nate frame the series around one central truth: identity before instruction. Before Paul corrects behavior, he reminds the church who they are—belonging to Jesus and being formed by Him. Set apart doesn’t mean withdrawn or superior; it means living with a distinct allegiance to Christ while fully present in the world around us.This series isn’t about winning arguments or cleaning up behavior. It’s about becoming a people shaped by Jesus—marked by unity, love, holiness, and resurrection hope.If you’ve ever wondered how faith plays out in real, messy life, this journey through 1 Corinthians is for you. Join us, invite someone asking honest questions, and let God set us apart—together.

Prayer and Fasting // Episode 29

In this episode, Pastor Randy and Pastor Nate invite us to begin the year with intentional focus by seeking God first through prayer and fasting. Drawing from biblical examples and personal reflection, this conversation highlights how God often prepares us in hidden, uncomfortable places before moving powerfully through our lives. The episode also emphasizes the importance of seeking God together. When the church fasts and prays in unity, spiritual momentum builds and direction becomes clearer—not just individually, but collectively. This is an invitation to slow down, surrender distractions, and intentionally prepare your heart for what God wants to do in you and through you in the year ahead.

Discipleship (Part 2) | The Role of Community // Episode 25

In this second part of their conversation, Pastors Nate and Whitney take discipleship a step further by exploring the role of community — the joy, the connection, and the shared experiences that help us grow into the people God is shaping us to be.They talk about how discipleship isn’t meant to be heavy or overly formal. It’s meant to be life-giving, filled with laughter, shared moments, and the kind of friendships that naturally point us to Jesus. From simple hobbies to meals around the table, college ministry memories, or spontaneous gatherings, they highlight how God often uses fun and togetherness to deepen our discipleship journey.Nate and Whitney also discuss how real transformation happens when we intentionally make space for one another — when we slow down enough to build trust, listen well, and share life side by side. Discipleship grows best where relationships are strong. They challenge listeners to consider: • Do you have people you’re truly walking with — not just seeing on Sundays? • And are you creating space for joy, fun, and shared life with the people God has placed around you? They remind us that following Jesus reshapes our priorities and our rhythms. Discipleship isn’t something we squeeze into the cracks of our busy lives — it’s something that changes the way we live, the way we spend our time, and the communities we choose to build. This episode invites you to rediscover the beauty of Christian community — a place where spiritual growth, genuine friendship, and joyful discipleship all come together in the everyday moments we share.

  23. 25

Discipleship (Part 1) | In Real Life // Episode 24

In this first part of their conversation, Pastors Nate and Whitney break down what discipleship really looks like — not as a program or a weekly appointment, but as time, relationship, and intentionality. They unpack how Jesus discipled: not in rushed moments, but in hours, days, and everyday life. From bleachers at basketball games to shared workspaces, gym conversations, or simple friendships, they highlight how spiritual growth often happens in the normal rhythms of life when we slow down and intentionally invest in each other.Nate and Whitney talk about the kind of relationships that shape us — people who care deeply about our walk with Jesus and help us become more like Him.They challenge listeners to consider both sides of discipleship:Who is caring for you in Christ? And who are you intentionally helping grow in Him?They remind us that theology isn’t just something we read — it’s lived out through examples, mentorship, and real-life moments. From Paul and Timothy to parents discipling their own kids, the call to make disciples touches every relationship we have. This episode invites you to see discipleship not as something extra to squeeze into your schedule, but something woven into the moments you’re already living — moments where God grows us through the people He places around us.

  24. 24

The Power of an Invitation // Episode 23

Pastors Nate and Dillon talk about the power of invitation and how meaningful relationships often begin with a simple “come sit with us.” They reflect on experiences in ministry where a small act of hospitality opened doors to lifelong friendships, encouragement, and spiritual growth.Together, they unpack why invitation matters so deeply in the life of the church. Whether it’s welcoming someone into a service, sharing a meal, grabbing coffee, or inviting a neighbor into your life, these moments create space for genuine connection and discipleship. They remind us that Jesus’ call to “go and make disciples” doesn’t start on a platform — it begins around tables, in living rooms, at cafés, and in everyday interactions. God often uses simple, humble invitations to draw people into community, build relationships, and reflect His love.Filled with honesty, challenge, and encouragement, this episode invites all of us to slow down, notice the people around us, and be intentional about welcoming others into our lives. Because that’s where real ministry happens — in small, authentic moments where life is shared and Christ is seen.
