Do We Really Give God What He Wants?
Do we really give God what He wants from us, or do we come up with our own definition of what we think God wants from us?About ten years ago I read an article about setting a five-year goal and this is how successful people set their goals and accomplish them. Well, I wanted to be successful too, so I took a couple of hours thinking about what I wanted to accomplish in five years. I thought I'd go back to work, get my music degree in the process and then teach in some private school, hopefully conducting high school choirs afterwards. It never occurred to me to ask the Lord what His plans were concerning me, or if He had any at all. Looking back now I wish I did, because that sure would have spared me from so much pain and a lot of sorrow and tears. Believe it or not, I was actually totally convinced that my plan was what God had wanted me to do. I believed that He wanted me in music and my goal was to teach in a Christian school. But in reality this is what I wanted, not what God wanted. I never asked Him what He wanted, so how can I know what He really wanted? Come to think of it now, I guess even if God had told me He did have plans for me and told me what they were, I wasn’t really interested in knowing it at that time. I always had this suspicion that when it comes to what God wants, it’ll be something I probably will not be happy with. So truth was, I was afraid to ask Him.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. For more podcasts, blogposts, and original songs visit www.HavingGod.com This is a blogpost from HavingGod.com. Focus On Jesus
I believe as long as we can focus on the Lord, whatever we’re going through, we’re going to be all right.I was having my breakfast this morning and was remembering this blogger who has a YouTube show on nutrition. She did a video on what her morning routine was and how meditation was a part of it. She would sit in one place and focus on her breathing, then parts of her face, like her ears, her eyes, etc. So, I started trying to apply this as I was drinking my tea. I couldn’t remember exactly what to do, so I asked the Lord what I was supposed to do. I know He knows what I’ve done in this life from beginning to the end and I know He knows that I’ve seen this video. I know He knows exactly what I was talking about. So I asked Him, “What am I supposed to do Lord? Focus on my ear?” Then I sensed the Lord in my spirit across the table. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt Him this way and it felt wonderful. Then, I got in my spirit, “Just focus on Me.” I started laughing out loud. It's as if the Lord was smiling at me reminding me the most important thing in this life – Him. It felt good to laugh out loud like that again with Him. Truly the joy of the Lord is our strength. That’s what I love about the Lord: the more I talk to Him the more He becomes so real. And He doesn’t condemn us at all. He loves us and understands us. He knows how to make us laugh when we need it.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. The Lord Tries The Heart
“The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.” [Proverbs 17:3] Often when we mess up, we are so hard on ourselves, we give up. We just throw in the towel, go under the covers and sulk. Then we’re in a bad mood for the rest of the week. That bad mood then is going to trip us up to make more mistakes. More often than not, our hearts are revealed through our mistakes and challenges in this life. How did we react when provoked? How did we take an insult, a disappointment, or a heartbreak? Did we get mad? Did we plot to get even? Did we turn to God for His counsel and try to seek reconciliation? We wouldn’t know who we truly are inside unless God tries our hearts and sees how we will react to our circumstances. Are we happy despite of it? Are we giving thanks when it feels like there is nothing to be thankful for? Who are we? What are we to the Lord? How can He use us? Problems, sorrow, and disappointments don’t have to be the end of the world. These things are given to us to make us better, to bring out the best in us, like the fining pot for silver or the furnace for gold. Let us be something that the Lord can use for His glory. “But He knoweth the way that I take: when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” [Job 23:10] PrayerFather, please Lord, help me not take life so seriously. Help me to acknowledge You in everything I do in this life. Help me to find Your help in time of trouble. I love You so much, Lord. You mean the world to me. Please Father, help me to keep loving people and keep following You. Help me to be strong always, through my sorrows, and through my heartaches. Find in me a vessel that’s fit to use for Your glory. I love You so much, Lord Jesus! You mean the world to me. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Thank You, Father. Amen. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. To Be Accounted Worthy
If we want to be accounted worthy of heaven and to stand before the throne of God and see His face, we have no other choice, we need to pray. We need to spend time with Him. Sure, your flesh will like to make excuses and say, “But I don’t have time!” But you have to make time. When you’re done being “snared” by this world, talk to Him. While you’re being snared, talk to Him. When you’re dying and feel like death because you’ve been snared again and you feel like a failure again, talk to Him. Pray! Tell Him, “Jesus save me! Jesus deliver me! Jesus help me! I can’t save myself, please come and protect me and help me and forgive me!” Don’t ever stop talking to Him. Don’t ever stop crying out to Him from your heart and asking Him for His help and grace and forgiveness and salvation. Any time you need Him, He is there. Any time you want Him, He is there. Even when you feel like He’s a million miles away, keep talking because He’s as close to you as your heartbeat and your thoughts. He is there always, all the time, without a doubt. So don’t stop talking to Him, because He will come and save you. He will lift you up and help you. And remember, you will stand before His face someday. Keep talking to Him, so on that day He will know you, and be able to say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” {Matthew 25:21}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Overcoming Fears
See, I believe we do not really overcome the fears the enemy gives us, but rather God takes them away from us. We cannot overcome anything on our own. If we could then there would be no over the counter pills or prescriptions of all kinds of medicines out there to help us overcome our anxieties. The pharmaceutical companies would suffer if it was that easy to overcome Satan’s given fears on our own. Satan is a spirit and his power over us is a spirit. Unless you have power over the spirit of the enemy and the principalities of this world, you cannot win. You cannot do it on your own. You can talk yourself out of it all you like. Have self-talks, therapy is good too but very expensive and a lot of people have found it did not work for them. Whatever method you choose to heal yourself, it will probably not work. Fear that is of the enemy is not an easy thing to overcome. As a matter of fact, I don’t think anyone can overcome it at all without the help of God. The Bible tells us that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. {James 1:17} All good things come from God. All the glory belongs to Him. You cannot overcome anything in this life without God helping you. That’s why it is crucial to look to Jesus Christ for any fears we have, because He overcame the principalities of this world. He is the One, the only one, who has the power over Satan and the demonic spirits of this world to crush them and to eliminate their powers over us.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. When It's Hard To Pray
Then there are those times when we do something we know we shouldn’t have done or said, and we feel guilty and bad about it. Instead of talking it out with the Lord we avoid Him. We’re like Adam and Eve. We run away from the Lord and we hide from Him. Often we turn around and like to blame someone else for our sins. We tell ourselves we wouldn’t have done what we did if they didn’t provoke us to it. Then when that doesn’t work, we convince ourselves that God surely is mad at us now and will likely punish us and reprimand us. We tell ourselves He’s forgiven us too many times and He’s likely sick of us by now. We’re too ashamed to talk to Him and so we stop talking to Him.From my experience the only solution to all these presumptions of what God must feel and think about me, is to make myself talk to Him. There is no other way around it, we must make ourselves talk to Him. The sooner I talk to Him the sooner I can feel better about myself because again and again, He shows me that I err in my assumptions of what He thinks about me. Again and again He shows me I am very much loved by Him and He is always there to help me. He is for me and never against me.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Are You Prepared?
I can’t help but think about the most important exam and event that is coming to us – more important than any wedding or exam or performance we will ever face with in this life – meeting God face to face. How much more then is it very important to be prepared for that? Are you prepared to meet Him? Can you see yourself being examined by God and knowing what to say to Him and what to do? If not, there’s no more perfect time to prepare than right now. All you need to do is just say a simple prayer from your heart and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and have mercy upon your soul. Ask Him to save you. Tell Him your desire to be saved and to be prepared to see His face someday. He is coming very soon. He has shown me that He is coming very soon. If you open up your heart to Him and say this prayer, He will prepare you. Even if you’ve said this prayer before and aren’t sure again if you’re saved or not, say this prayer again. Say it to Him again, ask Him again, until you come to know that He has saved you and prepared you. He will direct you to do what you need to do to be saved. He may direct you to repent again of your sins or to confess to Him something you haven’t confessed to Him before. Maybe He wants you to get baptized in His name, Jesus, or wait for Him to be empowered with His Holy Spirit by spending more time with Him.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Satan's Demise
There is an end to Satan’s evil and wicked devices against God’s people. He is not forever. Don’t worry your life about him, because there is an end to him. Satan’s device is to weary the saints of God, to a point that we will become discouraged and give up trusting and calling on God. But don’t fall for it. Our only hope is through our constantly calling on the Lord and trusting in the faithfulness of His word. Satan will use anything to discourage the people of God. He will even use God against us by lying to us about Him. He will lie to us and tell us all kinds of lies about God. Some even have fallen away from the Lord, because they ended up believing his lies instead of continuing to fight him with the word of God and spending time with the Lord. Our only hope is Jesus and spending time with Him. The more we spend time with the Lord and in His word, the more we will come to know Him and believe in His love for us. If we don’t know the Lord and don’t believe enough that He loves us, Satan will have us in an instant. We will believe his lies that God is against us in every trial that comes our way, and before long we will stop trusting in the Lord and stop talking to Him. Satan will have us in a trap so fast, unless we fight him with everything we have in us by calling on Jesus all the time to save us. He is wearying the people of God all over the world. We are not alone in our fight against Satan. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. {Revelation 20:7-10}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Finding Ourselves
Who knew that to find my answer all I had to do was to find God? Thankfully, God had other plans for me, or I’ll still be searching for who I am. All the while I was constantly searching for myself and what will make me happy, God was whispering for me to find Him. When I finally responded to that whisper and spent time seeking after Him, I found what I was looking for. I found myself. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. The Only God
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.” {Deuteronomy 6:4}One of the things Satan likes to do with the people of God who believe in Him is to have them doubt that there is only one God. The world hates the idea of having only one God because it would mean Jesus. Jesus means they have to turn away from sin and live a righteous life. It would mean denying oneself. Oh, horror! Without self where would we be? How can one become happy? Self therefore is the next best thing to God in man’s life these days. The pursuit of happiness is number one. Without self there is no happiness. So then, how can a man who lives in this world and wants to be successful and accepted by this world, become happy without it? So they hate the name of Jesus because (no surprise here) the god of this world is Satan and he hates Jesus. Satan lies to people. He wants us to believe that we cannot be happy with Jesus and in denying ourselves. He wants us to think it is impossible. But because Jesus has come to oust Satan from his dominion and turn men’s thoughts and ideas of self around, and bring back the glory due to God, Satan hates Jesus. And in turn, the world hates Jesus. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. For more podcasts, blogposts, and original songs visit www.HavingGod.com This is a blogpost from HavingGod.com. How Resting Is Important To The Lord
It seems to me that our society today glorifies in being busy. We love to say to our friends and families, “Oh, I can’t make it I’m so busy…” Or “I’m going to be busy that day it’s not possible…” Or “Oh, my gosh, I’m just so busy I don’t even know what’s up or down…” We say being busy so many times as if being busy is something to be proud of. But really, it’s not what God wants for us to be. He may want us to be productive and fruitful in our day, and He definitely does not want us to be lazy. The book of Proverbs is loaded with scriptures against laziness. But at the end of the day, God wants us to rest. God wants us to be happy in our soul and in our spirit more than anything. He always wants us to take a moment from our day to connect with Him. In the gospels we see Jesus again and again take off to be alone and pray. He would leave His disciples and the throng of people that followed Him just so He could take a moment and connect with God. Here’s a scene where the Lord sends the people away and tells His disciples to go without Him so He could go alone and pray. And straightway He constrained His disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while He sent away the people. And when He had sent them away, He departed into a mountain to pray. {Mark 6:45-46}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. A Modern Day Savior
I don’t know about you, but I think a lot of us forget that Jesus Christ was a pretty modern man during His time on earth. Whether we like it or not, He wasn’t your typical religious man we expected Him to be, to say the least. His closest friends were uneducated and rough fishermen. He ate and drank with publicans and sinners, and finally He broke the Sabbath laws and protected a woman that was caught in the act of adultery. If you and I would think about it real hard, some of us would probably keep our children from being friends with such a man. We’d wonder if he was sound in his mind at all. Yet indeed He was, and He did all that and more, and we can’t help but love Him because of it.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Don't Make Prayer Hard On Yourself (Part 2)
He loves it if we can spend a day with Him; just to tell the Lord what we desire in our lives, and treat Him like He is our friend. We don’t always have to be asking Him for things to do for us and pray for people that have needs. We don’t always have to be worrying about things to Him. If we take the time to just bring Him into our thoughts and into our daydreams, telling Him what we desire for the present and for our future, that is prayer too. Just to feel after Him and say, “I love You, Jesus. You are so good to me. You are so sweet to me. I love You so much” is something the Lord will appreciate very much. We don’t always have to make prayer requests to Him. We can also just love and appreciate Him and that constitutes as prayer as well. As a matter of fact from my experience this gives me more peace. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Perseverance
Have you ever heard of the saying, “When life gives you lemons make lemonade?” They’re essentially saying life will not always be roses and chocolates or a walk in the park. It’s probably going to be sour sometimes. It’s probably going to rain, probably going to snow, and it’s probably going to get worse before it gets better. But regardless, get going and moving and keep living! Don’t lay down and die. Don’t give up the fight. Don’t wish it’s over and hand your life to the enemy of our soul – Satan, because this is exactly what his plans are for us: to kill us and to destroy us. He wants us to give up our own fight for ever lasting life. He wants us to lay down and die and give up. But tell him, “Heck, no! I’m going to keep believing on Jesus. I’m not going to give up. I’m going to persevere. I’m going to keep living.” Dry your tears, straighten your back and smile, because the Lord still reigns. He continues to be God of all creation, and there is nothing too hard with Him. If you can think and imagine your way out of your circumstances, He can bring all those desires to pass. He can make all your desires a reality. Just wait on the Lord and watch for His work, and persevere to the end, believing in Him to come through. You know the secret to life’s triumphs and successes? It’s perseverance. It’s the spirit to keep going and having the grit to say, “Whatever happens I’m not going to quit. I’m not going to give up.” The Bible tell us that,“The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” {Ecclesiastes 9:11}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Turn Your Failures Into Success
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. {Galatians 2:20}You know how to turn your failures into success? It’s by accepting that you will fail and will never be anything, except through Jesus Christ. That’s it in a nutshell. When we learn to take our eyes off ourselves and look to the Lord for everything, that’s when all of the things we have failed at will become a success for us. The things that have been bringing us down and telling us we’re failures, can turn around and become our springboard for more greatness in Him. Again and again I have learned that when I turn to the Lord in times of my failures and in times of my weaknesses, and I make Him my strength and I make Him my hope for a better future, the things that I thought were failures turn into my success. The things that I thought we’re horrible setbacks the Lord has turned around to bless my life. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Always Clear Things Up With Him
If the Lord shows you a particular sin in your life (you will know this when it comes up in your mind as you’re confessing), that is your cue to confess that specific sin and ask for forgiveness and repentance. We want to be found holy before Him at all times. This is possible when we’re always talking to the Lord and abiding in His presence. When He deals with us, especially to turn away from something we shouldn’t be doing, it is imperative to talk to Him about it. Especially when we find ourselves insisting on doing what we want to do. Don’t run away from Him and hide things from Him. He knows all things, even the very intentions of our hearts. We cannot hide anything from Him. We are sinners. We will sin. That’s what Christ came here for, so that we don’t have to die the spiritual death that sin brings. We don’t have to suffer for them spiritually. Why would He die for if we can save our own selves? We don’t become deities just because we are filled with the Spirit of God. We will still have our own will. We will still become tempted and snared. We still live in this fallen world. There is no escape for it except through the constant abiding in the presence of God. But sometimes we don’t do that enough. Often times we lean upon our own understanding instead of walking in the Spirit. Hence we end up sinning and falling. But when we do, all we need to do is confess our sins, repent from them, and He will take them away from us. He can take it to Himself to the cross. This is what the scripture means when it said,Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross. {Colossians 2:14}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Getting Refocused For The New Year
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. {Colossians 3:2}It’s that time of the year again, where we make our New Year’s resolutions and set new goals. Are you one of those who sets them, or are you one who decided a long time ago not to even bother? I’m one of those who still believes in setting goals for the New Year. I used to make New Year’s resolutions, but I’ve given up on calling it that because it just doesn’t work for me. I’ve come to accept that on my own without the help of the Lord, I’m a failure at changing. Studies back me up on this anyway. They say only 8% of people who make New Year’s resolutions fulfill them. About 40% of us out there make them. So why even bother? But I do like to set goals and try to see if I can accomplish them. So far in the past three years I’ve been writing down my goals and I’ve been having over a fifty percent success rate. Now if I can only set goals that are more realistic to raise my chances to at least eighty percent, that would be wonderful. What it all comes down to though, is that I feel that what really matters is setting goals that draw us closer to the Lord. At the end of the day and when this life is over, what matters in the end is the Lord. Even if we fail at accomplishing our goals pertaining to this world, if we at least are accomplishing goals that are bringing us closer to the Lord, then in the end we are successful. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Don't Make Prayer Hard On Yourself - Part 1
Prayer is nothing more than just talking to God. The important thing is using your heart and your imagination when talking to God. Try to imagine God so vividly in your mind that He is right there in the Spirit, and can not only hear you when you speak, but that He also understand the depths of your soul. He understands what you are feeling as you are talking to Him. So when you talk to Him just believe that He is there and that He loves you. Do not entertain thoughts that will make Him go away. Do not try to belittle yourself before Him and say, "Why should He come and listen to me? I am a nobody." Resist all these negative thoughts and imagine a God that loves you so much and is actually looking forward to listening to you and becoming your friend. If negative thoughts, like shame and reproaches won’t go away but instead they overcome you, then go straight to the heart of your problem. Don’t wait another second to say or cry out to Him exactly how you are feeling. Tell Him, “Jesus, cleanse me, help me! Jesus save me from all these shame and reproaches! Please forgive me. I repent from all of my sins and shame to you. Please forgive me and take all this shame away from me. Please take all these bad feelings away from me. You are my God! You are my King! I cry to You! Please save me!” Talk to Him from your heart. Don’t make prayer complicated with Him. The most important thing with Him is your heart. The Bible states that we will find Him if we come to Him with all of our heart. {Jeremiah 29:13} So whatever you feel in your heart, tell Him about it. Do you feel bad, feel ashamed and angry? Whatever you are feeling translate this to words and tell Jesus. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. What Makes Christmas Special?
To me what makes Christmas special is the manger scene. Without that manger scene there wouldn’t be any Christmas. This is why I try to incorporate that place again and again whenever I write Christmas songs. It is so important to remind myself what Christmas is all about. Christmas is not about Santa Claus or Rudolph the red nose reindeer, or Frosty the Snowman. It’s not even about getting so many gifts! Christmas is about that little babe in that manger a long time ago in Bethlehem – Christ, the Lamb of God, and the Gift of God for mankind so that we can have God and see God face to face. So that through Jesus Christ we can find remission for sins and life everlasting with Him.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. The Most Important Thing We Can Ever Do
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. {Ephesians 5:15-17}If you value something and you want something done, you’re going to make time for it. If it’s truly important to you, you’re going to find the time. Whether it’s to cut down on things that are less important in your life, like watching TV or spending a lot of time on social media, or getting up earlier than you normally would, you will do it. You will make time and find the time to do what is important to you.Our walk with God is the most important thing we can ever invest in. It is the greatest thing we can ever do for ourselves. But I know it’s easier said than done. I know we all want it and wish we could do it. I know we know it’s important. But when it all comes down to reality and to putting actions into our words, we all fail. We all cry out, “I don’t have time!”Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. The Importance Of Asking
The Bible says to ask and it will be given to us. So many times we go around trying to figure out how to fix our own problems. We go around in circles wondering why things take forever to work out, and some things don’t work out at all. Some of us wonder why others seem to have it all, while we have nothing. It’s because we don’t ask. Jesus tells us,And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. {Luke 11:9-10}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Our Faithful Father
When we have Jesus Christ we have the Father. Jesus tells His disciples,If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. {John 14:7}Phillip, one of Jesus’ disciples wondered about this. How can we see the Father? Show us the Father, Lord. Jesus tells Phillip,Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. {John 14:8-10}So you see if we have Jesus Christ living inside of us, we have the Father too. Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the Father. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. John tells us no one has seen the Father at all but through Jesus Christ. God has been manifested bodily to the world. When we have Jesus we have the Father also. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Whatever Happens God Is In Control
*This is a repost from 2020. I believe it still very much applies today. I pray this encourages you to keep fighting and keep intervening for our world. Take care!* Our world is getting crazier and crazier, scarier and scarier. Everywhere you turn on the news there are just dreadful things happening. You start to wonder if it’s all ever going to end, and if we’re ever going to have the peace and love and wonderful things in life that we’re looking for. We don’t mind a little tiny problem as long as we’re assured of a solution to it, but when it comes to a pandemic like Covid-19, well enough is enough already. Please, let it end.Unfortunately this is exactly what the scripture in Daniel 7:25 prophesied to us. It said,“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.“We’re more powerful than you and I can imagine. It’s the prayers of the saints of God that has given us this power. It’s the love of God for His people. God’s not going to let Satan have the dominion forever. No siree. Satan has an end. God is going to take away his dominion and his power over this world, and will give this kingdom to the saints of God.“But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. And the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High…“Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Holiness
Holiness is an integral part of who God is. He told Moses during their time in the wilderness:Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. {Leviticus 19:2} We may never be holy and perfect like God is. Nevertheless, if we want to see Him and belong to Him and please Him, we must strive to be holy like Him. Through the Holy Spirit that He’s given to us, we definitely have it in our power to be holy like Him. We can certainly live the life that Jesus Christ wants us to live, if we allow Him to have His way in us. We can live the life of holiness and purity that is pleasing to God through the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ shows us the way to do it. He tells us,If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. {Luke 9:23}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. How To Have A Deeper Relationship With The Lord
I’ve been talking to the Lord since I was seventeen years old. I have learned in the process and He has shown me that when I rely on Him for everything, even the minutest thing in my life, He loves it and appreciates it. It draws Him closer to me and lets me become important to Him. It shows my dedication to the Lord – my desire to have Him involved in my life completely.I have gone to the Lord for help regarding my studies, who to marry, my career, buying a home and a car, and a slew of other decision-making I needed help with. I have talked to Him about everything and anything that bothers me, even the smallest thing like not having any money or being bothered by an unkind word said to me. I’ve gone to Him for what to cook for dinner, finding the right pair of shoes, to begging Him to heal a loved one from dying. There is nothing I wouldn’t talk to Him about, especially when it bothers my heart and it’s making me unhappy. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. To Live For Christ
For many years I thought I lived for Christ, but didn’t really live for Him. I mean, I was a Christian and went to church, said my prayers in the morning and in the evening, but I really didn’t live for Him. I lived for myself. I had my hopes and my dreams and my plans, and I pursued after them. I didn’t ask God what His plans were for me and what He wanted me to do. I made my plans and asked for His blessings in the interim. If things weren’t going well at work I asked Him to work things out for me. If I had a desire for a better position at work I asked Him to give it to me. When I wanted to own a house I told Him the kind I wanted and He granted it to me because I asked Him to give it to me. But I never thought of saying, “Do you have any plans for me Lord, and if You do, what are they?” I never thought to even ask and say, “Where do you want me to live? What kind of house do you want me to live in?” No. I never asked those questions, but if you asked me if I lived for Christ I would have emphatically and without hesitation told you that I did. I would have told you I am a Christian and I am faithful in my prayers and in my attendance in church. I even led the worship service and taught in the Sunday school. But when it came to making my own plans, I didn’t ask God what He thought. All I did was ask Him to bless my plans. I didn’t ask what He thought of them or even if they’re in His will at all. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. The King Of All Principalities
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. {Revelation 20:10}Satan has no power at all except what God has given him. He might think he has power now, but he knows clear enough that it is short lived. That’s why he’s in such a rush to bring as many people with him where he is going. But when God is finished with him, he will be punished forever and ever with the rest of all the false prophets that deceived the souls here on this earth. In truth no one has any power at all except Jesus Christ.A lot of people are being deceived today, even people that love God and believe in Jesus Christ are being deceived to try other “powers” in this life. Don’t fall for it. Remember there is no other power except Christ’s. If it’s not Jesus, it can only be Satan’s – the prince of the darkness of this world. We cannot take chances. The world would have us to believe that we are gods and are bosses of our souls. Be very careful. All glory and honor belongs only to the Lord. If things like, “self-glorification” is becoming a part of our conversation, it’s time to check who is the boss in our lives. Is it Jesus or is it Satan? The self in us will definitely want to be the boss, but this kind of pursuit is akin to the pride that brought Lucifer (who is Satan) down from heaven. We don’t want that at all. Believing in ourselves, boosting ourselves up, “loving” ourselves, “self-love” all these thoughts of self glorification are not of God. Think about it, what can we do? What power do we have that did not come from God at all? The Bible tells us,For in Him we live, and move, and have our being. {Acts 17:28}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Rest In His Love
With Jesus, we can find that perfect love that casteth out fear. We don’t have to worry about what He thinks about us, we can be completely ourselves with the Lord because He loves us so much and accepts us for who we are. He loves us so much that He laid down His life at the cross, bled and died for our sins so that we can be set free and be forgiven for anything we have done in the past and in the present. All we have to do is come boldly to Him and talk to Him and tell Him what we’ve done wrong, and ask for His grace and forgiveness. It’s that easy, confess, repent and find forgiveness. We are perfectly accepted and undeniably loved. As apostle Paul stated in his epistle:Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved. {Ephesians 1:5-6}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. When God Turns Away From Hearing Our Prayers
Because the truth is, no one can really know their heart. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, and that only God can know it. {Jeremiah 17:9-10} Plus Proverbs tells us,Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. {Proverbs 21:2}That’s why it’s so crucial to turn to the Lord all the time and bring our hearts to Him. We need to ask Him to show us what we’re doing wrong, and where we are standing before Him. Yes, it’s going to take courage to do this, it’s not an easy prayer. But better that, than to stand before Him someday and realize too late that we’re lost; that we’ve been too fearful and cowardly to face Him when we had all the time in the world, and now it’s too late. The truth is though, there is nothing to be afraid of with the Lord because He loves us so much. There is also nothing He doesn’t already know about us. From the moment we took our first breath until the last, He knows our every thought, every spoken word and every deed. There is nothing He doesn’t know about us. The Bible tells us, Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. {Hebrews 4:13} Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Unlocking The Doors Through Obedience
Obedience is one of the most important elements in our relationship with the Lord. Without obedience how can God do His work in us? How can we follow Him all the way and go where He desires for us to go? It’s not possible to love God without obedience. It is not possible to be His servant or His minister to others, when we’ve closed our ears off from His correction or His admonition. It is important that we continue to listen to the Lord no matter how long we’ve been in church or how long we’ve been serving Him. A little nudging of the Holy Ghost or an impression in our hearts should be sufficient for us to know that God is dealing with us, and we must obey. How can we expect for our prayers to be answered or our heart’s desires to be granted to us if we’re not listening to His voice? Jesus tells us,If ye love Me, keep My commandments. {John 14:15}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ should be our number one ambition in this life. Finding Contentment In God
I have found that when life throws me a curve ball and I have decided to cower in a corner and go into my safe zone, I can just reach out to Him in my heart and in my spirit and find Him. He will take me in His arms. He will lift me up again. He will give me the strength I need to go on and move forward to the work He has for me. I have found again and again that in my quiet moments with Him, being content in His presence is my purpose. I don’t need to do any thing else. I don’t need to be some great preacher or prophet to feel special. His presence alone fills me and satisfies me. He gives me worth. He makes me feel special. I just need to find Him and He alone will fill my life with meaning. Whatever work He desires in my life to accomplish, He will get it done if I simply find my contentment in Him.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Choose To Believe
When all else fails, choose to believe. The Bible tells us,Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. {Mark 9:23}God has given us the liberty and the freedom to choose, and it is up to us to choose how to live our lives. Whether we’re going to follow Him or follow the ways of the world, we have that choice. Personally I feel like there’s not much choice for me out there but to follow the Lord. The world keeps changing and nothing stays the same. Nothing is dependable, nothing is steadfast, nothing except Jesus’ love. What else choice is there? When all else fails, choose to believe in God.But life is going to challenge us, especially in the world we live in, to keep believing in Jesus. It’s not always going to be easy to keep following Him and keep believing in Him, especially when things get hard and the only thing you have going for you is your faith. The world is going to challenge us. Our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even those near and dear to us, are going to cause us to question whether God is faithful or not. As I said, when all else fails, choose to believe in God. Why? Because time and time again the Bible has proven God to be faithful. The experiences of the faithful saints of God in times’ past, in their testimonies and in their writings, have shown that God is faithful. No matter what happens, if we wait long enough for God, He will show up. He will come through. He will prove Himself to those that choose to believe in Him.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. How To Be Great In God's Eyes
We all want to be great. One way or another we all want to be somebody special – somebody who will make a big mark in this world. But so many of us end up being blown away by the demands of what it takes to be great in this world. We think we don’t have what it takes. Instead, we end up frustrated that nothing has turned out exactly as we had imagined it to be as a child, when we had this big dream of being great. Life comes along like a big tractor-trailer and rolls over us, along with our dreams. We get up from our cathartic heartache and disappointment with this life, and we give up on our dreams. We finally say to ourselves this is the only way to live: marry, have kids, find a decent job, retire and die. We tell ourselves we will never be great so we might as well let someone else do it. Let someone else do the fighting and the grinding and the pushing and the shoving, while we mosey along and do what everybody else is doing, and accept life as it is.Instead of trying to measure up to the world's definition of greatness, or our own definition, have you ever considered what the true definition of greatness is? Who is great but God? The book of Psalms said it this way,Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. {Psalm 145:3}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Seek God First
Sometimes I think we forget we’re supposed to be seeking God first instead of the things of this world. We forget that the things of this world are temporary and that the things of God are eternal. Nothing we gain in this life is going with us when we die. Nothing. The only thing that we’re going to take with us is our relationship with Jesus Christ and what we’ve done for His name’s sake. We spend so much time aspiring for success in this life and forget there’s so much more to come. Heaven is not just playing our harps and singing songs to God. Heaven is so much more. The Bible states that there is actually a kingdom that we’re going to end up ruling. Jesus Christ told John the Beloved in Revelation:And he that overcometh and keepth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of My Father. {Revelation 26:27}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Why Forgive?
Yes, indeed, why forgive? Why should we? After all we’ve been hurt, and treated shamefully and unjustly. Don’t we have the right to hold grudges and stay mad? We do – if we want to stay unhappy, we definitely have every right to stay mad and angry. But at the end of the day, what does staying angry and being hurt do to us? Does it make us any happier or better? No. Of course, not! We forgive because it’s what’s best for us in the end. Nothing more, nothing less. We forgive because when this life is over, only those who forgive leave this life with a light heart. They can face God knowing they have not held grudges, or hated someone, but chose to love instead. Those who forgive have a lot more to give to God than those who don’t. When we forgive God looks kindly on us, because He knows how it is to suffer unjustly. Remember, of all people who knows about suffering unjustly, it is God. One of His closest friends betrayed him, another denied Him, and finally His own leaders turned Him in to the Roman government to be crucified. God sees us and He understands us. He knows what it is like to suffer unjustly. We have a better standing with Him when we forgive, because He knows what it’s like to forgive when it is not the easiest thing to do. So, if you want to guarantee favor with God, forgive. Jesus tells us Himself,Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. {Matthew 5:7}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Keep Believing!
Even when we’re hurting, especially when we’re hurting, it is crucial in our walk with God to keep believing. Faith is not necessary when things are going our way, it wouldn’t be faith otherwise. When things aren’t going the way it should be, that’s when we need to have faith the most. Daniel didn’t stop believing just because the presidents and the one-hundred and twenty princes came against him during the reign of Darius. As a matter of fact, after the decree was signed by the king to punish anyone that called on God within thirty days, the Bible tells us that Daniel went home and continued to pray to God (three times a day, as was his habit and routine). He didn’t let anyone stop him from believing. This was his only way out – his faith in God. Talking to God and making time for Him was the only power he had against these presidents and princes. He needed God even more at this very difficult time in His life. He mustn’t stop believing! Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Be Selfish For Your Soul
If we truly love ourselves we will make sure we are saved. There are no buts and ifs about it. We will fight with every heart and soul and strength we have in this life to be saved. If it means we have to be selfish about our life’s choices, and if it means shunning friends and the lifestyles that snare us away from God, so be it. We love our souls too much to take any chances to be lost. Our souls are too precious to be squandered away when there is just one lifetime. They can call us selfish all they like, but we only have one soul. We only have one life. We must save it at any cost. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Benefits To Those Who Fear God
There is such mercy that is given to those that fear the Lord. Without the mercy of God we will all be lost on this earth. It doesn’t matter how smart or how rich and educated we are, one way or another, you and I will need the mercy of God. None of us can save ourselves in this life and from the judgment seat of Christ. Only the Lord can save us. And who else would we rather have on our side than the Lord? As the scripture tells us,What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? {Romans 8:31}If you have the Lord on your side you have nothing to fear, not even a band of armies against you. Remember that scene with Prophet Elisha and his servant with the army of Syria surrounding their house? The servant was so scared. Elisha had to comfort him. He told the servant,Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. {2 Kings 6:16}Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Why The Inside Matters More Than The Outside
We live in a world where the outside matters more than the inside. More and more in our day and age where Hollywood, the movies and the media have made such an impact in our lives, appearance is becoming everything. Many young people are more and more self-conscious of their appearance and how they look, to a point where some of them become sick and put their health in danger. But the Lord tells us He does not look at the appearance of a person, but He looks at the heart. The heart of a person matters more to God than how they look on the outside. When this life is over and when we stand before the judgment seat of God, He’s not going to judge on how well we groomed ourselves on the outside and how well people thought of us. He’s going to look at the inside of our hearts and see if we walked the way He desired for us to walk. Our heart is everything to God."Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Come Boldly
I understand that we shouldn’t dictate how God should fix things. Sure. But nevertheless we should ask; we need to ask…He wants us to. And furthermore I’m not averse at all about demanding from God (for lack of words) or being forceful about our desire what we want done! Yes! Absolutely! We can surely tell God what we want even to the minutest detail. We are not dictating how He should fix things; we are telling Him our desires. And why should that be wrong? If we are His Bride and He is our Bridegroom why should we tippy-toe around Him about what we desire? Let Him decide what will be done. That is His prerogative. Yes, He knows best, in everything. Definitely. But that doesn’t mean we can’t tell Him how we feel and what we would like to happen. Again, even to the smallest detail. Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Failure With Jesus
“Failure with Jesus?” How can such a thing exist? How can one fail with Jesus in your life? But we do, all the time. We fail because He’s really not the one that’s in control but we are. We like to say, “Have your way Lord Jesus in my life,” or “I give my all to You, Father,” or even “Jesus take the wheel!” But then at the onset of our day, we take off with a minute-by-minute scheduling of our day. We know what we’re going to do from the minute we open our eyes to the time we put our heads on our pillows at night. We pretty much know what’s going to happen with our daily schedule. Oh, we might fit Jesus in with an hour of prayer with Him, or an hour of Bible reading and reflections, or maybe an hour of visitation with people to talk about the Lord. Maybe we’ll even write a blog or two about Him. But when it comes to planning our day, we plan it, not Him. That’s how we fail with Jesus: We’re in the driver’s seat, not Him.Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Nothing Satisfies Like Jesus
Jesus can satisfy like no one else in this world, because He created this world. He created you and me and knows every intricate part of you and me. He is the source of all life on this earth. You can search and search all you like for happiness to fill and satisfy the longings deep inside your soul, but only He can go into your soul and satisfy it like nothing in this world can. Only He gave His life for you and died for your soul, and overcame the principalities and the darkness of this world. Only He can speak into life things that have not existed before. Jesus is God in the flesh, so that you and I can see Him today in our hearts and in our souls. When we ask Him to come and enter into our hearts and become our Lord and Savior, He becomes real in our lives. We can see Him. We can see God because God has given Himself to us through the form of Jesus Christ. We can see Him and touch Him and hear Him. All we have to do is to seek after Him with all of our hearts and soul and talk to HimThanks so much for listening to this podcast. Ruling Your Heart
No one really has the power over their hearts except the Lord. Only the Lord can help us overcome the wicked thoughts and desires that can end up entering into our hearts. We live in a world today where the things that were shunned ages ago have become acceptable. Just because it is acceptable in our society today doesn’t mean it’s now good in God’s eyes. But how will we know this? How will we know what is good and right in the sight of God when these things have become “normal” now? We talk to Him. We come to Him and we say this prayer to Him,Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. {Psalm 139:23-24}~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. Having Jesus
Our intimate relationship with Jesus Christ is the most powerful weapon we have in this life. Whether it’s against the principalities and the darkness of this world, or our everyday problems (health problems, money issues, work issues, even our societal problems), you name it – having Jesus Christ and knowing Him is the greatest source of power we can ever possess. Why? Because Jesus is God in the flesh who made and created everything we see, hear, feel, know and understand in this life. Without Jesus this world would be non-existent. It doesn’t matter what your issue or problem or trouble is, if you know how to bring it to the Lord and connect with Him, He will solve it and take care of it for you.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thanks so much for listening to this podcast. ABOUT THIS SHOW
We often wonder why it seems like a constant chase to find God, but I’ve found that the more I talk to Him, the more I see Him in my life. In this podcast I talk about the dealings of the Lord in my life and the thoughts I have regarding His word. I hope and pray that this podcast will also inspire you to talk to the Lord. Take care and God bless!
