Episode 13: FORGIVENESS: I CAN FORGIVE BUT I’LL NEVER FORGET
Forgiveness means different things to different people. But in general, it involves an intentional decision to let go of resentment and anger. Forgiveness brings a kind of peace that allows you to focus on yourself and helps you go on with life. In this episode, ChrisE and Dream discuss their personal journeys with forgiveness of self and others that have hurt them. They also share tips on learning how to forgive using the 4 R’s. 4 R’S OF SELF-FORGIVENESS Responsibility: Accept what has happened and show yourself compassion. Remorse: Use guilt and remorse as a gateway to positive behavior change. Restoration: Make amends with whomever you're forgiving, even if it's yourself. Trauma bonds are nothing to be ashamed of, as they result from our brains looking for survival methods. The bond forms out of the basic human need for attachment as a means of survival. They discuss how Trauma disrupts a person’s executive functioning. For example, inhibitory control, which is the ability people have to exert control over their behaviors.
