Send us Fan MailWendell Berry was a brilliant writer, poet, farmer, teacher. He was also a kind man who was fierce and courageous about what he loved. He loved family, community, farming and the whole web of life. Berry was not a saint, but better than a saint. He was a living breathing human who never placed himself above others. He walked shoulder to shoulder with all of us who love beautiful, artful words and Mother Earth.

Send us Fan MailWe’re adept at identifying and distinguishing between good and bad people. This distinction is crucial for maintaining healthy boundaries between ourselves and others. However, psychologically, these boundaries aren’t always as clear-cut as they seem. The person who intimidates others may also be intimidated by them. The individual who bullies often experiences the most humiliation. And yes, the person who is overly controlling may feel helpless. Of course, understanding someone’s behavior doesn’t mean condoning it, but it does provide a more powerful and less reactive stance to take.

Among the qualities that creativity demands, an appetite for uncertainty is high on that list. Moreover, it is true that creativity is the key to our freedom.
