HINENI: Conversations on the Path of Desert Devotion
by Lisa Moriah
HINENI means “Here I am” in Hebrew: the ancient response to a sacred call. Conversations on the Path of Desert Devotion explores what happens when we return to the sacred lands, practices and wisdom of the desert and encounter the Divine Mother there. Through pilgrimage, sacred sound, ancient languages, embodied practice, mystical traditions and conversations with fellow travelers, we ask what it means not simply to study Living Wisdom, but to answer Her: Hineni. Here I am.

Weaving Embodied Gnōsis
Four Strands of Living WisdomWhat does it actually mean to live by Embodied Gnōsis? In this episode of HINENI, Lisa Moriah explores four interwoven strands that help turn inner knowing into Living Wisdom: Deep Listening, Historical Inquiry, Creative Synthesis, and Lived Practice.Rather than treating gnōsis as every intuition, impulse, or mysterious thought that crosses our minds, we explore a way of knowing that can be both tender and sensitive, yet tensile and rigorous. Deep Listening teaches us to hear. Historical Inquiry brings us into honest relationship with our ancestral wisdom streams. Creative Synthesis asks what happens when ancient wisdom encounters our lives now. And Lived Practice gives that meeting a body. These aren't four steps to follow in order. They're threads on a loom, continually crossing, testing, and strengthening one another as practice sends us back into listening again.Along the way, we meet HaOreget, the Sacred Weaver, an image of the Divine Feminine who works with the strands of Reality not by erasing their differences, but by drawing them into relationship. What might happen if we approached our own spiritual lives in the same way?Not collapsing. Not choosing one strand over another. Weaving..Continue the journey…🎙 Access the episode transcript:https://returntothedesert.com/podcast/📖 Download your complimentary guide:Return to the Desert: Encountering the Divine Mother in the Sacred Landscape We Left Behindhttps://guide.returntothedesert.com/✍️ Read the writings at Magdalene Merkabah:https://magdalenemerkabah.substack.com/ 🏛 Learn more about Return to the Desert:https://returntothedesert.com/about/"By bringing our whole, undivided self into this moment, the Eternal Now, we stop waiting for the Kingdom and begin inhabiting it."הננ

A Gnostic Divine Feminine Trinity
Three Spirit Guides to Awaken Your Embodied GnōsisWhat if the Divine Feminine meets us not in one form, but three? In this episode of HINENI, Lisa Moriah explores a feminine “Holy Family” drawn from ancient Jewish Apocalyptic and Gnostic Christian wisdom traditions: Parthenos, also Betulah, the fertile Silence from which all things emerge;Chochmah, also Living Wisdom, who descends, speaks, and calls to us; and Maryam Magdalene, who offers an image of Wisdom embodied in a fully human life.Along the way, we encounter the Gospel of Philip, Gospel of Mary, Pistis Sophia, Proverbs, and the forgotten Divine Feminine traditions of ancient Israel, asking what these ancient texts might reveal about awakening our own Embodied Gnōsis. The episode closes by moving from inquiry into practice, with a simple devotional chant:בתולה · חכמה · מרים ... היא אחת · והנני עמהBetulah, Khokh-mah, Mar-yam... Hi E-khat. V’hineni Imah. The Virgin, Living Wisdom, Maryam… She is One. And I am here with Her.An invitation into Silence, Wisdom, devotion, and the living stream within.HINENI: Conversations on the Path of Desert Devotion is the podcast of Return to the Desert, exploring the wisdom of the Divine Mother in Her original desert world, and the many spiritual and mystical traditions that guide us back to Her heart.

A Holy Invitation to Your Undivided Presence
The Ancient Practice of HINENIWhat does it mean to become fully human? In this inaugural episode of HINENI: Conversations on the Path of Desert Devotion, Lisa Moriah explores one of the Hebrew Bible’s most powerful responses to that question: the Hebrew word hineni—“Here I am.”Rather than understanding hineni as simply a statement of physical presence, we consider it as a posture of undivided awareness: a way of inhabiting our lives with openness, attentiveness, and wholehearted presence before God, ourselves, and one another.Drawing from the stories of the prophet Isaiah and the Christian Testament's Maryam Magdalene, we explore how this ancient practice echoes across Jewish apocalyptic wisdom, early Gnostic Christian traditions, and the contemplative path. The episode concludes with a guided meditation using the sound of the Turkish ney, inviting listeners to experience Hineni not merely as an idea, but as an embodied way of being..Read the full transcript, download the complimentary HINENI guide, and explore additional resources at:returntothedesert.com.HINENI: Conversations on the Path of Desert Devotion is the podcast of Return to the Desert, exploring the wisdom of the Divine Mother in Her original desert world, and the many spiritual and mystical traditions that guide us back to Her heart.
