In the Garden of Eden, God was trying to protect humanity from the consequences of disobedience and the knowledge of good and evil. The command not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge indicated that there were boundaries set for human beings, which were meant to preserve their innocence and maintain a harmonious relationship with God. Eating from that tree was associated with gaining knowledge that could lead to moral dilemmas, suffering, and separation from God.
