Extra Episode: ALL BET AWARDS 2026 WINNERS | How Did Kendrick Lamar Win?

Here's the episode description: The 2026 BET Awards are in the books and Smooth has questions. Starting from the top and working all the way through every category, this episode is a full breakdown of who won, who got robbed, and who shouldn't have been nominated in the first place. Kehlani's “Folded” was the obvious pick for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Leon Thomas had no business losing Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. And Clips? They were the easy answer for Best Group no debate needed. But the real conversation? Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. Smooth cannot figure out how Kendrick Lamar walked away with that award on the strength of three songs two features on the Playboi Carti album and a Baby Keem collab while artists like Don Tolliver and J. Cole were right there, putting in consistent, undeniable work during the same eligibility window. And when you run the numbers three songs, three for six from the field it just doesn't add up. Unless you start thinking about who's producing the show. The BET of Her Award, the Viewer's Choice, Album of the Year, Best Movie (Sinners, no debate), the Sports awards Smooth runs through all of it. Some calls he agrees with, some he's okay with, and a few he's still confused by. One thing's certain: Don Tolliver deserved his flowers, and this was not the year to overlook him.

Extra Episode: Love Language 101- The Part Nobody Ever Talks About

Everyone knows their love language. But do you actually practice it or are you just waiting to receive? Smooth breaks down all five love languages and exposes the part nobody wants to say out loud: most people use them as a checklist for what they want, not a framework for what they give. From words of affirmation to receiving gifts, each one gets put under the microscope and the verdict isn't pretty. Words of affirmation? Ask yourself when's the last time you said it first. Quality time? Put the phone down, for real. Physical touch? If they don't want you near them, that's not a love language problem. Acts of service? If you can't think of something you did for your partner in the last week, you're failing. And receiving gifts the name says it all. It's in the title. Receiving. The conversation about love languages has always been about what you want. Smooth flips the script and asks the harder question: what are you actually doing for them? 0:00 – Intro: Why Smooth has a problem with love languages 0:57 – The real issue: it's always about what you want to receive 1:09 – Breaking down each love language 1:12 – Words of Affirmation: Say it first 2:50 – Quality Time: The phone is killing it 4:29 – Physical Touch: If they don't want you near them… 6:05 – Acts of Service: What have YOU done this week? 8:11 – Receiving Gifts: The most selfish one on the list 11:15 – Final thoughts & call for comments

Election Night 2024 Episode 348 Donald Trump Vs Kamala Harris

An election-night livestream tracks Associated Press results and reporting percentages, explains the 270 electoral-vote threshold, and urges anyone still in line to keep voting as early calls show Trump leading in several early-closing states while Harris holds expected blue states. The host discusses fast counting in Florida, slower big-city and mail-in reporting, and focuses on battlegrounds including Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada, noting bomb threats that briefly suspended voting at Cobb County, Georgia sites and extended poll hours. Friends join for a chaotic panel mixing analysis of city vs. rural returns, third-party impact, and House/Senate stakes with arguments and worries about unrest. Later, a fatigued late-night panel debates vote withholding, misinformation, Roe v. Wade and abortion restrictions, Black identity gatekeeping, and workplace/dating boundaries before ending due to few new updates. 00:00 Chaotic Cold Open 11:04 Sending Stream Links 12:46 Choosing Election Coverage 14:20 Switching to AP Map 15:12 Food and Early Results 22:27 Harris vs Trump and Not Voting 24:33 Waiting for New States 28:12 Side Rants and Dr Phil 33:53 Map Confusion and Bomb Threats 47:34 Friend Joins Map Talk 50:51 Florida and DeSantis Debate 01:03:00 Texas Turns Blue Moment 01:07:24 Key States and WV Weirdness 01:08:32 Swing State Setup 01:09:27 Quiet House Jitters 01:10:43 Florida Called Early 01:11:06 Texas Cities vs Rural 01:12:48 Georgia Metro Returns 01:18:02 New Guests Join Stream 01:20:14 Streaming Tools Troubleshoot 01:21:22 Tina Rants on Identity 01:29:54 Ohio Red and PA Stakes 01:38:39 Black American Identity Debate 01:42:39 Ancestry DNA Shock 01:43:37 Reputation VOD Panic 01:44:02 Black Culture Debate 01:45:16 Dating Grievances 01:46:29 Election Night Check In 01:50:33 Accents Slavery Timeline 01:52:03 Arkansas Politics Breakdown 01:56:25 Canada Size Roast 01:59:24 Panty Collection Reveal 02:08:13 Swing States Map Talk 02:16:30 Jamaica History Identity 02:20:49 Interracial Dating Debate 02:21:32 Celebrity Marriage Hot Takes 02:22:29 Streaming Subs Frustration 02:22:45 Moon Breakup Drama 02:24:52 Asexuality Conversation 02:28:33 Twitter DM Scam Warning 02:29:51 Astrology Sign Roll Call 02:30:52 Election Voting Arguments 02:34:19 Map Watching Live Results 02:36:53 Money Loans and Flexing 02:41:58 Marvel Snap Detour 02:45:24 Tina vs Hammer Blowup 02:52:06 Reparations and Poverty Talk 02:55:56 Canada Disability Tuition 02:57:24 American vs Canadian Poverty 02:58:30 Panel Roll Call 02:59:18 Tina Connor Crush 03:00:19 Monkey Joke Fallout 03:01:52 Sobriety Stress Talk 03:03:18 Election Map Panic 03:04:55 If Trump Wins Plans 03:07:37 Quitting Nicotine Tips 03:10:05 Kamala Versus Obama 03:13:01 Class War And Tariffs 03:18:26 Canadian Politics Beef 03:21:41 Nicki Minaj Fan War 03:28:24 NYT Odds Doomscroll 03:30:17 Voting IQ Test Debate 03:31:28 Tina Returns Meltdown 03:32:36 Tarot Chaos Forecast 03:33:05 Beer Opener Break 03:33:39 Swing State Panic 03:36:24 Canada Civil War Plan 03:38:33 Foreign Interference Fears 03:45:05 Promoting Everyone Streams 03:49:29 Women Candidate Debate 03:55:27 Twitch Views Privilege Fight 04:02:03 Stopping The Stream 04:03:49 Swing State Math 04:04:02 Michigan Rural Divide 04:05:11 Philly Counting Fears 04:05:51 Supreme Court Slavery Talk 04:07:24 Georgia Too Close 04:09:46 Needed States Checklist 04:12:19 Fanatic Vote Withholding 04:17:16 Why Dems Lack Charisma 04:19:36 Conservative Bubble Reality 04:28:28 Black Identity And Struggle 04:30:11 Drake Culture Debate 04:36:38 Class And Poverty Clash 04:41:10 Real vs Fake Energy 04:41:48 Industry Pedophile Talk 04:42:28 TOS Panic and Cleanup 04:43:58 Panel Dynamics and Weirdos 04:47:25 Gender Wars and Dating Jokes 04:50:03 Cookout Ally Question 04:53:18 Election Map Anxiety 04:56:40 Abortion Rights and Care 04:59:55 Marriage and Commitment Debate 05:03:05 Coworker Hearts and Boundaries 05:10:27 Workplace Flirting Breakdown 05:12:20 Back to Electoral Math 05:13:47 Office Politics and Lunch Invites 05:15:16 Plug Talk and Boundaries 05:16:00 Coworker Rejection Advice 05:17:12 Men as a Drug Debate 05:18:47 Access and Pick Me Rant 05:22:17 Insecurity and Therapy Angle 05:26:26 Dating Stats and Body Counts 05:35:32 Gucci Third Leg Breakdown 05:39:55 Bars and Single Parent Talk 05:48:06 Election Deadlock and Goodbyes 05:55:23 Final Shoutouts and Outro

Extra Episode: Lizzo Flopping, SZA Exposes Diplo, Fantano vs. Halsey & The Print Fishing Debate

Smooth is back with a live session turned podcast episode covering all the culture moments that had the internet talking. First up, print fishing Smooth breaks down the viral TikTok trend where men wear padded underwear to enhance their appearance, sparking a debate about honesty, optics, and what people are really selling online. Then it's the Lizzo flop era Smooth gives his take on where Lizzo stands in the culture right now and how the conversation around her has shifted. Next, Smooth digs into the Anthony Fantano vs. Halsey situation. Fantano gave Halsey's album a 1 out of 10, calling it “main character syndrome” not knowing (or not caring) that she wrote it while battling a serious illness and going through chemotherapy. Halsey fired back publicly, and Smooth is firmly in her corner, calling Fantano out for his track record of tone-deaf criticism and his habit of mistaking notoriety for relevance. After that, Smooth gets into SZA exposing Diplo for having equity in the AI music platform Suno and allegedly using it to train on the sounds and styles of Black writers and producers. SZA's message was simple: don't give away your vibranium. Smooth agrees AI is plagiarism, and Black creators are the most vulnerable and least protected. Finally, Smooth wraps with the Big Tigger situation explaining what third-degree child cruelty actually means under Georgia law, and why he's not rushing to judgment. He also issues an on-air apology to actress Alex LaPree for a previous take he now admits was unfair, saying he didn't fully understand the law at the time. A two-hour live session, fully unfiltered, no scripts just Smooth keeping it a hundred. 0:00 – Intro / Smooth sets up the episode topics 1:43 – Print Fishing - Smooth reacts to the viral TikTok of padded underwear being marketed as a “cheat code,” breaks down the trend, and explains why he called it print fishing 14:06- Lizzo Flop Era - Like....what else can I say here. It was bad. 38:40 – Anthony Fantano vs. Halsey - Smooth plays Fantano's review, reads Halsey's clap back, breaks down why Fantano was out of pocket for calling her album “main character syndrome” while she was battling a serious illness, and calls out his track record and credibility 1:01:31 – SZA Exposes Diplo & AI - Smooth reads SZA's statement about Diplo having equity in AI music platform Suno and using it to train on Black artists' sounds; Smooth weighs in on AI theft and why Black creators are the most vulnerable 1:09:33 – Drake Debate (Live Discord Call) - Smooth brings in a guest from Discord and they go deep on Drake's authenticity, his blackness, ghostwriter allegations, and the Kendrick beef 1:54:00 – Big Tigger - Smooth breaks down Big Tigger's battery and third-degree child cruelty charges, explains Georgia law, and issues an on-air apology to actress Alex LaPree for a previous take

TOTAL DISBELIEF EPISODE 347 MrBEAST INVESTIGATION, YOUNG THUG FREE AND MEG DOCUMENTARY MISTAKE

In this episode, the host reacts to MrBeast LLC's released internal investigation summary, describing a three-month review of 4.5 million documents and 39 interviews that found no basis for allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors or knowingly employing individuals with illegal/questionable histories, while identifying isolated workplace harassment and noting the company is implementing new leadership roles, training, policies, a handbook, and anonymous reporting. The host then covers Young Thug's release, plays Mariah the Scientist's emotional reaction, defends her from online backlash, and explains Thug's plea terms: 15 years probation with a backloaded 20-year sentence if probation is violated, plus conditions including avoiding Metro Atlanta except for required anti-gun-violence events. Extra Episode: AshDracc Applies For Streamer University! Reaction W/ CurlyKage

Smooth links up with his boy CurlyKage for a live reaction session that quickly goes off the rails in the best way possible. The two kick things off by venting about getting passed over for Streamer University while reacting to application videos from some interesting hopefuls including the mysterious and chaotic “AshDracc,” whose energy sparks a full-blown debate that carries the entire stream. From there, the conversation bounces between the Souluminati and DDG beef saga, the streamer grind, and what it really means to be a content creator when life gets in the way. Things get serious toward the end when a chat question about the Drake vs. Kendrick beef opens the door to a surprisingly deep breakdown weighing bars against allegations, discussing moral consistency, and what it takes for a rap beef to actually stick. Funny, unfiltered, and unexpectedly thoughtful.

Can Technology Fix Democracy? Episode 378 Ramon Perez of the Digital Democracy Project Interview

What if you could vote on actual legislation right from your phone and have your congressman see the results before casting their vote on the floor? That's exactly what the Digital Democracy Project is building. In this episode, Smooth sits down with Ramon Perez, a civic tech innovator working to close the gap between everyday citizens and the lawmakers who are supposed to represent them. Ramon breaks down how their nonprofit is using mobile voting software powered by blockchain and biometric verification to give verified voters a real voice on the bills being debated in Congress right now. We're talking the Reconciliation Bill, ICE funding, the Iran War Powers Act, and more. They go deep on why most Americans are effectively living in a one-party system thanks to gerrymandering, why Congress has a 9% approval rating, and how both parties have quietly colluded to keep voters out of the process. Ramon also explains how their AI-powered legislative chatbot lets you cut through media bias and read the actual bill no spin, no noise. This is a real conversation about power, accountability, and what it actually means to have your voice heard in 2026. Extra Episode: BINT Scam Final Update! Marlon And Lashonda Moore Sentenced To 40 Years!

The Moores thought they could beat the system now they're paying for it with their freedom. Smooth breaks down the final chapter of the “Blessing in No Time” (BINT) pyramid scheme that defrauded thousands of people, mostly within the Black community, during the pandemic with promises of 800% returns. After initially pleading guilty and being offered a 10-year deal, Marlon and LaShonda Moore violated their pre-trial release by continuing to run the scam leading the court to reject their plea agreement entirely. They rolled the dice on a jury trial, lost on every count, and were hit with the maximum: 480 months (40 years) in federal prison plus over $4.3 million in restitution. Smooth digs into how a couple who once appeared on Oprah and were already millionaires threw it all away for greed, what the “blessing boards” scam actually looked like from the inside, and why turning down 10 years for a shot at freedom turned into a life sentence for two people in their late 30s.

Extra Episode: Kathelina Cheated On Her Boyfriend With Her Cousin

Smooth breaks down one of the wildest “accountability videos” of the year a creator's attempt to apologize to her ex after getting exposed for cheating with her own cousin, complete with a scripted “My Truth” statement, a hired crisis management/reputation team, and receipts on receipts on receipts. In this episode: the original exposure video, the painfully scripted apology, the timeline contradictions, the bucket list screenshots, the age-gap fact-check, and a real-time read of both sides' stories to figure out who's really telling the truth. Smooth and the crew go full detective mode comparing dates, catching jump cuts, and calling out the PR playbook line by line. ️ New episodes of Homeroom With Smooth drop every week.

LIFE Episode 346 Relationships, Friendships And Grown Perspective

In episode 346, “Life,” the host shares a grown perspective on friendships, relationships, love, and faith, explaining he's skipping UCA homecoming because it feels illogical, exhausting, and socially regressive, and he'd rather spend time with a small, reliable circle who reciprocate effort. He argues friendships and dating should be two-way streets, with care in how advice is delivered and an emphasis on genuine conversation over being chased or romanticized, especially in one's 30s. He recounts being mistakenly handcuffed due to profiling, a childhood bully encounter years later, and notes he values his routines and content creation, making relationships hard to add. He discusses church background across denominations, says he wouldn't date a nonbeliever though he's skeptical of hypocritical “church” behavior, reflects on limited, short relationships, and stresses lasting partnerships require real friendship and consistent effort. 00:00 Episode 346 Life Intro 02:01 Skipping Homecoming Reasons 06:05 Choosing Your Real Circle 08:49 Friendship Effort And Respect 10:22 Cuffed By Mistake Story 12:09 Profiling And Real Talk 13:22 Bully Reunion And Glow Up 16:36 Relationships Peace Vs Dating 17:18 Toxic Ex Reflection And Accountability 19:28 Why I Dont Chase Anyone 20:34 Faith Background And Denominations 21:08 Saturday Sabbath Debate 22:18 Church Hopping Stories 23:25 No More Chasing 24:14 Faith and Dating Standards 25:40 Denominations and Catholic Vibe 26:33 Modern Dating Frustrations 28:02 Romance Expectations in 30s 30:22 Housewife vs Career Talk 32:44 Cooking or Going Out 33:37 Shortest Relationships Ever 34:46 Building the Platform First 36:37 Friendship Is the Real Bond 37:36 Free Time and Priorities 39:02 Letting Things Go 40:35 People Quit Too Fast 41:22 Anger Ends Relationships 42:26 Closing Thoughts and Sign Off

Extra Episode: Karmelo Anthony Found Guilty And It's His Own Fault

Smooth breaks down the Karmelo Anthony murder conviction and why, despite the harsh verdict, the circumstances surrounding the case make it hard to defend. While Smooth initially questioned the murder one charge arguing manslaughter or murder two made far more legal sense new details emerged mid-conversation that shifted the entire take. Karmelo was on an active suspension from school and the track team when the stabbing occurred. Worse, his previous suspension was for bringing a knife to school and he brought one again. That combination of choices eviscerated any self-defense argument he could have leaned on. Smooth's take: 35 years may be excessive, and murder one is a stretch given there was no prior relationship with the victim. But when you're somewhere you're not supposed to be, carrying something you're not supposed to have, for the second time the system has very little sympathy to offer. A tough conversation about accountability, the justice system, and how one bad decision after another can cost you everything.

Extra Episode: Random Hiphop Convo Drake, Jay Z, Sauce Walka, Adam22 Divorce Update, Love Island, Karmelo Anthony

Smooth hops on a late-night live stream and it goes exactly how you'd expect no agenda, no filter, just real conversation. The topics range from the Carmelo Anthony murder trial (Smooth's verdict: self-defense, case closed) to the long-term damage the Kendrick vs. Drake beef did to the YouTube content ecosystem. Smooth breaks down why Kanye's College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation run is the greatest three-album stretch in hip-hop history and puts Drake and Kendrick up against it to prove his point. The conversation gets personal too. Smooth talks about his Drake listening journey, dating life philosophies, the difference between a baby mama and an ex-wife, and why he genuinely doesn't care who his exes are with after him. He also shares a hilarious tired-brain moment where he accidentally texted a girl “we should split up” and meant something completely different. Plus: Drake's Iceman chart dominance, a theory on how Meet the Grams was pre-loaded to YouTube, Love Island first impressions, getting demonetized for covering certain artists, and the case for Tupac being a greater actor than rapper. No script. No structure. Just Smooth talking and that's the best kind of episode.

Double Whammy Episode 345 Dj Akademiks And Asmongold Banned On Twitch

Episode 345 of the Home Room Smooth Podcast, titled “Double Whammy,” covers Twitch bans for Asmongold and DJ Akademiks for different reasons and notes the streamer will continue on Twitch later with additional topics like new Diddy news, while the YouTube version ends after Akademiks. The host says Asmongold received a 14-day ban after making indefensible comments about Palestinians, then apologized, reflected on deteriorating personally over the last two years, and plans to step away from streaming to improve his life and health. DJ Akademiks received a 4-day ban after hosting Adin Ross, who is described as effectively getting others banned due to his status on Twitch; the stream included “Gucci Third Leg” discussing herpes test results and an NFT idea. The host closes by urging self-improvement and taking care during the holidays. 00:00 Podcast Setup 00:35 Double Whammy Bans 01:49 Asmongold Algorithm Talk 03:22 Self Reflection Break 07:08 Indefensible Comments 09:17 DJ Akademiks Banned 10:23 Gucci Third Leg Drama 12:07 Herpes Risk Explained 15:32 Why Adin Ross Triggers Bans 16:20 Take Care Yourself 17:52 Wrap Up Goodbye

Winds Of Change Episode 344 Hurricane Milton And Dealing With Change In Your Life

In a solo episode of the Homeroom with Smooth podcast, the host reacts to Hurricane Milton impacting Florida, especially Tampa, describing it as unprecedented and citing Category 5 strength with extremely high winds and dangerous storm surge. He shares concern for people in Tampa and Mexico, mentions knowing a hospital worker required to stay as critical personnel, and shows clips of storm surge, landfall winds, and news graphics illustrating 3–9 feet of inundation, warning that evacuation becomes impossible once flooding begins and that downed power infrastructure could electrify water. He criticizes people attempting to “ride it out,” including a man who strapped down his house, influencers live-streaming downtown, and “Lieutenant Dan,” a disabled man staying on a small sailboat, noting online bets about his survival. He also discusses tornadoes spawning during evacuations and briefly comments on Jaguar Wright's allegations, saying she should be taken only semi-seriously, before ending the episode. 00:00 Podcast Cold Open 01:06 Prayers For Tampa 03:32 Hurricane Clips Breakdown 07:05 Storm Surge Reality Check 12:07 Eyewall Footage Reactions 13:13 Lieutenant Dan Boat Story 15:57 Tornadoes During Evacuation 18:07 Live Searching New Videos 20:43 Florida Man In The Storm 21:39 Aiden Ross Streamer Drama 23:11 Dan Explains Staying Put 24:50 Riding Out on a Boat 25:29 Online Bets and Reactions 26:23 Storm Clips and Rising Water 27:46 Tampa Bay Drains Out 30:07 Tornadoes and Misinformation 33:08 Evacuation Warnings and Choices 34:46 Florida Insurance Breakdown 36:39 Influencers Chasing Hurricane Clout 39:38 Can You Build Flood Proof 44:00 Jaguar Wright Allegations Talk 47:01 Wrapping Up and Next Episode

Special Episode: Drake Surpasses Michael Jackson & Akademiks Declares War On Hiphop Media

Drake makes history by surpassing Michael Jackson on the charts, and DJ Akademiks is officially done playing nice with hip hop media. Smooth links up with special guest Firstborn Media (Dope Boy Diesel) for a deep dive into Drake's historic streaming milestone and what it truly means for his legacy including the argument that Iceman is the most lyrical project he's ever put out. The conversation gets into the coordinated hate machine surrounding Drake's success, breaking down the “Culture United” crew and their double standards including the moment Curtis King compared Kendrick Lamar to Jesus Christ on live TV. Smooth and Dope Boy Diesel also react to Akademiks formally declaring war on hip hop media, his Rumble payment controversy, and whether the receipts actually prove what his critics claim. From there the discussion shifts to Iceman as a full visual album experience breaking down standout moments from Whisper My Name, the National Treasures leak, and why Drake didn't leave a single stone unturned on this project. The episode also tackles Billboard chart reform, the YouTube streaming counting debate, and the political firestorm around the White House using Drake's Iceman branding without a response from the artist. A wide-ranging, no-filter conversation about the state of hip hop, the media that covers it, and why Drake's current run deserves its flowers.

Drake IS MAGA? Episode 377 The Story Of Drake's Three Albums And Rick Ross

Smooth comes in fired up to push back on a wave of online creators suddenly labeling Drake as MAGA. He dismantles the argument point by point calling out the weak logic behind the claim and highlighting Drake's actual track record: supporting Palestine, calling out DJ Khaled, speaking against police brutality, and consistently showing up for his Muslim community. Smooth argues that these creators appear to be operating from a coordinated group chat, all jumping on the same narrative the same day without anything substantive to back it up. He also goes deep on Drake's three recent albums, arguing that critics dismissing them as shallow are missing the context they were written around the same time, about the same things, and need to be understood together as a cohesive body of work. The episode also covers Rick Ross's latest Drake diss, with Smooth giving his reaction in real time. A high-energy, passionate episode that doubles as both a culture defense and an album analysis.

  17. 407

Extra Episode: Dj Hed Embarrasses The West Coast

Smooth reacts to a clip of DJ Hed posting an edited version of Drake's “Too Hard for the Radio” on his website with the diss bars removed claiming he felt conflicted about playing it. Smooth, a West Coast transplant himself, takes DJ Hed and the broader response to task, calling it embarrassing and soft. He makes the case that Drake's song is actually a W for the Bay Area it samples Mac Dre, was produced by Bay Area producers, and puts money directly into Mac Dre's estate and his mother's pockets. Smooth argues that if West Coast artists have an issue with Drake's shots, the answer is simple: get in the booth, make a better record, and knock it out of rotation. Trying to pressure DJs into not playing it only signals that they don't believe they can compete. He gives credit to a woman named Gina for calling DJ Hed out in the moment and closes by saying the West Coast has always been harder than this.

Extra Episode: Dr. Cheyenne Bryant Shows Her True Colors

Smooth reacts to a viral clip of Dr. Cheyenne Bryant completely losing her composure on a live broadcast. During what appeared to be a panel recording for Truth Talks Ask Live, Bryant erupted on a co-host named Trey after he spoke up while she was wrapping the show cursing him out, calling him soft and feminine, and repeatedly telling him to “talk to your wife like that.” Smooth breaks down why the outburst is a major credibility problem for Bryant, pointing out the irony of a life coach and self-proclaimed doctor behaving worse than the people she's supposed to help. He also raises questions about her credentials, noting that no doctoral degree or dissertation can be found under her name only a trademark for the “Dr. Bryant” title. Smooth wraps by saying her opportunities are drying up and this meltdown is just the latest sign that her brand is in freefall.

Genesis Of The Rift Episode 376 Shegogg Cook Interview

Smooth links up with his longtime friend Shegogg Cook to talk about Cook's debut sci-fi fantasy novel, Genesis of the Rift, now available on Amazon. Cook breaks down how the book came together over six years starting from a late-night creative impulse and evolving from a concept about a soul traveling through time in the dream world into a full-fledged sci-fi anime-influenced story that blends philosophy, Black culture, and speculative fiction. Smooth and Cook discuss how the protagonist “Soul” is part original character, part reflection of Cook himself flawed, charismatic, and deeply human. A big theme of the episode is representation: Cook speaks to the intentional decision to center Black culture in a sci-fi space that doesn't always make room for it, from the dialogue and character dynamics to the way characters interact with AI and navigate conflict. A compelling conversation about storytelling, identity, and what it means to create something that truly belongs to you.

A Chapter Of BNikki Episode 375 Shooting A Short Film, Codependency, First EP

BNikki returns for her second appearance on the podcast and brings a lot to talk about. Since her last visit, she's released two new singles "Spontaneous and Riding Alone" and an official music video for Threw Me in the Fire. Smooth highlights how each release shows a different dimension of her artistry while still feeling cohesive. The conversation gets into the short film she created for Riding Alone, a full cinematic production shot at Circle G Ranch in Agua Dulce with a full crew of cinematographers and videographers. BNikki breaks down her creative process and talks about the intentional ambiguity in her visuals how she designs her storytelling to invite multiple interpretations from viewers. She and Smooth also get into the nature of artistic storytelling itself, discussing the difference between a “story” and a “tale” and how individual songs function as chapters within a larger body of work. A great episode for fans of independent artists building something real.

The Iceman Is Coming Episode 374 Pusha T Ghost Writers, Hip Hop Media Debates Drake's Absence

Smooth goes solo to break down some of the most talked-about topics in hip hop. He opens by addressing the resurfaced Quentin Miller ghostwriting allegations, this time in the context of Pusha T working with Miller on unreleased reference tracks. Smooth makes a clear and firm argument: Miller was always credited on Drake's records, which by definition means he was never a ghostwriter and the newly leaked tracks only reinforce that music is a collaborative process. He also takes aim at hip hop media for continuing to push the ghostwriting narrative despite the facts. Smooth then shifts to Drake's extended absence from the game, weighing in on whether it's hurting or helping Drake's legacy and what it means for the culture when one of its biggest figures goes quiet. The episode also touches on Pusha T's upcoming album rollout and his attention-grabbing move of icing out his courtside seats as a promotional tease.

Extra Episode: INSANE D4VD UPDATE! Persecutors Expose His Evil Plan To Murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez

Smooth reads directly from the preliminary hearing document filed by prosecutors — calling it the most damning court document he's ever seen. The filing lays out a detailed timeline: D4vd met Celeste when she was 11 years old in 2022, began a sexual relationship with her at 13, sent an Uber to pick her up the night of April 23, 2025, and stabbed her to death after she threatened to expose the relationship and destroy his career ahead of his debut album release. He then ordered a shovel from Home Depot via Postmates, two chainsaws and a body bag from Amazon (under a fake name), used a blue inflatable pool in his garage to contain the blood while dismembering her body, and drove to Santa Barbara in the middle of the night to dispose of evidence. Forensic trace analysis matched plastic fragments found in Celeste's remains to that exact pool. DNA from his garage matched her profile. The victim's passport card was later found along the same road he repeatedly traveled. Smooth's verdict: this is as open-and-shut as it gets.

Extra Episode: Dr. Cheyenne Bryant Exposed For Operating Without A License

Smooth and guest co-host Paradise Paris dig into the controversy surrounding social media personality Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, who brands herself as a psychology expert and relationship therapist — despite holding no verifiable license to practice. They break down how Bryant rose to fame through her soft-spoken, feminine delivery on male-dominated platforms (Joe Budden, Shannon Sharpe, Cam Newton), and argue that her popularity was driven largely by aesthetics and her ability to validate women's frustrations with men in a palatable way. The episode gets into the specific credentials issue: her doctorate comes from an unaccredited institution that lost its accreditation in 2019 and cannot be used to obtain a professional license in California. A Black woman reportedly called the California Board of Ethics on her. Both hosts agree that without the “doctor” title, nobody would have batted an eye — she'd just be another life coach. The conversation winds into the Chris Brown Brown album, music release timing, and the importance of not creating a cult-like audience.

Extra Episode: Ashlee Janae Allegedly Killed By Her Fiance Joe McCann

Smooth covers the tragic story of 31-year-old influencer Ashlee Janae Robinson, who was found dead in a Zanzibar hotel room after allegedly being strangled by her fiancé Joe McCann — who then staged her death as a suicide. The video covers the family's official statement, McCann's suspicious behavior (continuing to post on social media while her parents had to learn of her death through passport emergency contacts), and his ties to far-right online communities. Smooth frames the story with a larger discussion about race, interracial dating, hypergamy, and the importance of vetting the character of who you're with — not just the lifestyle they offer.

Extra Episode: NBA Fines Devin Booker $35,000 For Calling Out Refs

Smooth sits down with sports reporter Caitlin Legge to break down Devin Booker's postgame press conference after a controversial technical foul call in Game 2 against OKC. They both agree the tech — called after Alex Caruso told the ref to pull the trigger — was one of the worst calls either of them can recall. Booker called out the officiating by name, comparing the NBA to the WWE, and openly said he'd accept whatever fine came his way. The NBA ultimately rescinded the tech but still fined him $35K, which both hosts see as a quiet admission of guilt. The conversation expands into broader questions about NBA officiating integrity, load management, and what Booker's willingness to speak up means for the league's image. Caitlin predicts OKC wins in six.

State Of The Culture Episode 373 Michael Eric Dyson Defends Drake, Jay-Z's Influence

Smooth sits down with Django Degree, a culture commentator and author of the upcoming book They Lie to You, for a wide-ranging conversation about how people engage with hip hop discourse. The two dig into the tendency to view artists like Drake through a binary lens — good or bad, deep or shallow — rather than with genuine empathy. The discussion takes a philosophical turn as Django argues that Western culture conditions people to believe their perspective is objectively correct, which shuts down real conversation. From there, Smooth plays a clip of academic Michael Eric Dyson defending Drake's place in Black culture, arguing that critics unfairly devalue his Blackness in the context of the Kendrick beef. In a standout moment, Dyson reveals that Jay-Z personally reached out to disagree with his position — respectfully and intelligently — which becomes a jumping-off point for a larger conversation about how disagreement can be handled with dignity. A thought-provoking episode that blends cultural commentary with real philosophical depth.

Extra Episode: Everything D4vd Has Been Charged With

Smooth breaks down all the charges facing rapper D4vd (David Anthony Burke) following his arrest in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Walking through the actual court footage and California penal code, Smooth outlines each charge: two counts of felony continuous sexual abuse of a child (6–32 years), first-degree murder with three special circumstances financial gain, murder to prevent testimony, and lying in wait (25 to life each), use of a deadly weapon (1–3 additional years), and three counts of mutilating human remains (3–9 years). On the low end, if everything ran concurrently, Smooth calculates D4vd is looking at a minimum of 35 years to life. At 21 years old, that means he wouldn't be eligible for release until his mid-50s at the absolute earliest. Smooth says the lewd acts with a minor and body mutilation charges appear airtight, while the murder charge may require more work from prosecutors.

Extra Episode: Tasha K Loses It All To Cardi B

Smooth breaks down the latest and likely final chapter in the long-running legal saga between gossip blogger Tasha K and Cardi B. After a jury found Tasha liable for defamation back in 2019 (false claims about Cardi being a prostitute, using drugs, and having STDs), a settlement plan was reached for $1.2M over five years. But Tasha violated the terms by continuing to discuss Cardi and her associates online, and a federal judge held her in contempt. Now Cardi's team is going after the full $3.9 million remaining balance plus sanctions and Tasha's own lawyer got sanctioned for submitting AI-hallucinated legal citations in court filings. Smooth reacts to Tasha's viral response video and uses the story as a broader lesson about the dangers of building a platform on malicious lies.

Spill The Tea Episode 343 Long Distance Dating, Dating With A Purpose, Acting My Age

In episode 343 of The Homeroom with Smooth Podcast, Smooth and guests discuss “Callability,” focusing on long-distance dating, dating with purpose, and acting their age through clearer communication and boundaries. They define long distance as more than 2–3 hours away and weigh benefits (space, better communication, visits feeling like mini-vacations) against drawbacks (trust issues, time zones, and being gaslit, including Smooth recounting discovering a partner's dishonesty via social media). The conversation shifts to dating intentionally: avoiding haphazard dating, prioritizing partners who add value, setting roadmaps and expectations, and ending situations when honesty is lacking (including examples of someone hiding a make-out and another misconstruing friendship as a two-month relationship). They address “spinning the block,” being direct to avoid breadcrumbing, debate high-value dating and potential, and conclude with perspectives on self-love as self-knowledge, boundaries, and ongoing growth, with love languages saved for a future episode. 00:00 Podcast Kickoff 01:44 Episode Topics Preview 03:05 Defining Long Distance 05:20 Cheating Storytime 09:19 Space and Communication 16:55 Friends and Independence 20:31 Dating With Purpose 25:38 Value Added Standards 29:57 Spin the Block Advice 32:23 Work Friend Date Mixup 34:18 Setting Boundaries Too Late 36:29 Be Direct In Dating 36:57 Intentional Dating Question 40:21 Know Yourself First 44:33 High Value Options Debate 48:45 Dating On Potential 55:34 Men Women And Options 01:02:01 Defining Self Love 01:10:14 Wrap Up And Next Episode

Carved In Flesh Episode 342 Marcellus Williams, Diddy Oil, Take Their Kids Please

The hosts react to an AI Justin Bieber song, then outline the episode “Card and Flesh,” covering Marcellus Williams' execution despite disputed evidence, claims of jury bias and contamination, and the view that the death penalty should be reserved for open-and-shut cases. They discuss the Gettysburg College incident initially reported as a hate crime, but relay alleged student accounts that a multiracial swim team member asked a white teammate to carve the N-word into his chest as a joke, later reframing it as a hate crime after the team reported it; one student was expelled and the other suspended. They speculate the reported Diddy “baby oil” could involve GHB and criticize conspiracy “phases.” They condemn two child-neglect stories: a Maryland mother allegedly shooting her 13-year-old daughter in the neck, and Baltimore parents leaving four kids alone to go clubbing in Miami, with a 2-year-old found outside. 00:00 AI Bieber Shock 01:31 Grapes vs Candy 02:38 Episode Topics Setup 03:53 Marcellus Williams Execution 05:35 Death Penalty Standards 13:30 Gettysburg Carving Allegations 15:35 Reading Anonymous Screenshots 27:57 Hosts React to Twist 33:13 Diddy Baby Oil Theory 37:30 Baby Oil Debate 39:06 Meek Mill Rumors 40:26 Conspiracy Phase List 42:13 Cuckolding Stories 44:49 Young Miami Fallout 46:37 Mom Shoots Daughter 51:24 Parenting Standards Talk 56:52 Kids Left Home Alone 59:47 How It Happened 01:06:54 Final Rant and Wrap

No Bail Episode 341 Diddy, What's The Dirt Drama, Can White People Comment On Hip Hop

In episode 341 of the Homeroom with Smooth Podcast, Smooth and guests discuss shocking news and details they cite from an indictment about Sean “Diddy” Combs, including alleged “freak offs,” threats and violence, controlled substances, recording incidents, controlling victims' lives, and why he was denied bail as a threat to the public and witnesses; they also react to rumors involving other celebrities while cautioning against dragging uninvolved people without evidence. The conversation then shifts to backlash against YouTuber “What's the Dirt” for his Drake–Kendrick breakdowns and a critique by “The Company Man,” debating whether white commentators can analyze hip hop, how race and “blackness” were weaponized in the beef, and how misinformation and social media echo chambers fuel bad-faith attacks. They close by promoting another podcast episode and stressing that criticism should be factual. 00:00 Podcast Intro and Guests 02:30 Diddy Arrest Shock 05:19 Indictment Details and Names 08:15 Freak Off Evidence 11:51 No Bail Breakdown 12:42 Celebrity Rumors and Guilt 14:29 Trial Coverage Hopes 17:45 Reading Indictment Excerpts 18:38 Police Interview Clip 23:24 Whats The Dirt Backlash 24:46 Who Can Comment on Hip Hop 26:29 Culture Gatekeeping and N Word 37:39 Blackness And Struggle 38:15 Frankie On The N Word 39:57 Setting Up The Clip 40:50 Company Man Calls Out 42:27 Analytics Clapback 45:17 Drake Troll Theory 46:52 Reacting To The Roast 48:40 Internet Narrative Wars 50:04 Jealousy And Bad Faith 01:03:19 37 Times Debate 01:09:50 Echo Chambers And Algorithms 01:12:01 Wrap Up And Final Thoughts
