This discipleship walk with Jesus has highs and lows, joys and sorrows. Through the power of His person and His Word, He gives us honey from the rock, sweetness to help when life gets overwhelming. I hope you'll join me as we dig into the Word, seek the Lord that He may be found, and grow closer to Him, truly learning to taste and see that the Lord is good, no matter what happens.

    Obedience is Better than Sacrifice

What the freedom we desire is on the other side of obedience? In 1 Samuel 15, the Lord commands Saul to devote things of offense to destruction. But Saul, in his disobedience, decides to offer some things he kept back as a sacrifice. The Lord makes it clear: He desires our complete obedience in what He has commanded. Not the sacrifice of the defiled things He requires to be destroyed. The Lord wants to free us. He wants us to know Him and to experience His love, grace, and mercy. He wants us to grow in sanctification and wisdom. But these things cannot happen if we refuse to surrender and give over to the Lord the things that have held me. To destroy them fully out of our lives. To destroy the idols that have held us captive. Friends: Jesus is alive. He wants us to walk in confidence. He has come to free us from the oppression of the devil, the tyranny of the flesh, and the bondage of the world. Today, let's fully cut away the things that the Lord wants to destroy that have brought death that we would be raised into the newness of the life of Jesus.Scriptures Referenced:1 Samuel 152 Peter 1Acts 2Luke 9:23-24Isaiah 53Psalm 51Romans 5 and 6You can find me on Instagram / Threads

How Abiding in Jesus is the Key to Identity

Identity is a big deal. We all want to know who we are, where we fit in this world, and what we were made for. There are a million voices trying to define identity for us. "We fight from love, not for it." - Jennie Allen, The Lie You Don't Know You Believe (this is not an affiliate link, I just love the book!)But what if we tossed social media out the window, shut off the 24-hour news cycle, and started taking Jesus at His word. What if we believed Him when He tells us who we are and why everything changes when we stop believing the lies about Him, us, and His word. What if we started believing and experiencing the great love of the Lord which He lavished upon us at the cost of His own life and lived that love out toward others? Here is the best news: Not only can we know the Lord's love for us, but we can abide there. He wants us to be where He is. He's died so we can know Him, the love of the Father, and be sealed by His Holy Spirit. We can walk in freedom, we can war for friends and family, and we can walk confidently in Jesus, secure in this truth: He loved us and gave Himself for us.Scriptures Referenced:John 15:9-10Ephesians 1:3-14You can find me on Instagram / Threads

    With Abiding Comes Pruning

What comes to your mind when you think about the Lord's pruning? Pain? Anguish? Suffering? All of those things may be true. But what happens if we take a moment and start to adjust our minds and hearts and consider the One who is doing the pruning. The One whom the Scriptures call Love, Faithful, True, Just, Righteous, Kind, Slow to Anger, Gracious, Compassionate and so many other attributes. In today's episode I talk about pruning seasons. Because let's face it: Pruning is difficult. But when we see that the loving hand of the Father prunes us so that we can know Him more deeply...so that we can be conformed to the image of Jesus and be confidently led by the Holy Spirit in this walk of discipleship? Friends, there is joy unspeakable and fully of glory that waits for us. We don't deny the agony. The pain. The grief. We lament. We cry out. We wrestle. But we don't live there. We can have joy in the Lord's pruning process. We can trust His loving hand to cut, even when it's deep and He seems to take something good. He wants to see us grow and thrive in Him. To see His joy within us and our joy be made full. Scriptures Referenced:Psalm 111John 15:1-2Galatians 5:22-24Psalm 139:23-24Luke 9:23-241 Thessalonians 5:14-24You can find me on Instagram / Threads

Why Abiding in Jesus is the Key to Maturity

What does it really mean to abide in Jesus? Does He really mean it when He says, "Without Me you can do nothing?" And what does abiding have to do with maturity in Him?In today's episode, I'm taking you on my own journey of wrestling with the Lord. What does it mean to be mature in Him? Why is dependence so important to the Lord? And how do we grow in endurance, grace, and union with Him so when the storms of life come, we don't default to suspecting Him, but instead trust that He is with us, working for us, and will carry us through. I pray this episode encourages you in your own walk with Jesus as we wrestle against our own strengths, weaknesses, desires for self-sufficency and see that the one of the most beautiful places in to walk in this world is securely in Jesus and His word. Scriptures Referenced:John 15-4-5Matthew 11:28-302 Corinthians 4:7-122 Corinthians 12:91, 2, 3 JohnEphesians 1:17-182 Peter 3:18Matthew 6:9-13You can find me on Instagram / Threads

    Pray For One Another

Is there someone the Lord has put on your heart to pray for? What does it mean to pray for each other, friends, family, even our enemies? On today's episode, I talk through the importance of prayer, the posture of prayer, and the Holy Spirit's role in helping us pray. I also mention a few things that have helped me follow through when I tell someone I'll pray for them. Holy Week - It Would Be Enough

As we observe Holy Week, and contemplate the cross and all that Jesus has done for us, I want to challenge us to shift our focus off of what Jesus has done to Jesus Himself. What He has purchased for us comes out of who He is. And this is shown through both the Gospels and the story of the Exodus out of Egypt. When we start to read the Word by first examining what Jesus is trying to reveal to us about the Father and His character, it changes everything. Including how we pray. At the beginning of this episode, I recite the Dayenu, a prayer designed to remember all the amazing things the Lord did for Israel when He delivered them from Egypt. Perhaps as we look at this amazing rescue and see the character of the Lord who redeems us, we can write our own Dayenu. Exalt the Lord for all the things He has delivered us from, because of who He is. I pray this episode encourages you as you consider Jesus, His beauty, goodness, faithfulness, and love...and write your own Dayenu in praise of Him.The Dayenu TextThe Dayenu - Disciples (The Chosen, YouTube)The Women's Dayenu (The Chosen, YouTube)You can find me on Instagram / Threads

    Finding Hope in the Hard

Today I'm celebrating the podcast hitting 1,000 downloads. A huge milestone made possible by the Lord's grace and your friendship. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I also get a bit vulnerable, and share some of the wrestle that I've been walking through in the last year. In the darkest times, in the depths of my despair, Hope has still poked through. And that is the faithfulness of Jesus. Reading Psalm 130, seeking the Lord, experiencing His forgiveness and cleansing...and the encouragement of friends and family... all of these things have taught me (and continue to teach me) that even the tiniest beam of hope in darkness changes everything. Because that hope is Jesus Himself. Scriptures ReferencedPsalm 130Philippians 1John 1The Book of JobYou can find me on Instagram / Threads

The Lord will Fight for You - Exodus 14

The Exodus journey has incredible, practical spiritual application for us. It is one of the most powerful and amazing displays of the Lord's goodness, care, and mercy on His people. Yet it is also fraught with fear, complaining, frustration, anger, and idolatry from His people. As you listen today, consider these three questions: What is your familiar enemy - the one that comes against you and causes you fear, but is also the one thing you run back to when it gets hard walking with the Lord?See the provision of the Lord where you are. What paths have you taken that you thought were crazy or out of the way, led you into wilderness, then saw the hand of the Lord in it?Where is the Lord showing you to stand firm and be quiet before Him, waiting patiently on His deliverance? The Lord desires for us to come to Him with all that concerns us. In repentances, in petition, in worship, in lament, and in joy we can commune with the Lord. However, there are times when we must lay all these things before Him and quiet our hearts and minds to hear His voice. To discern His leading. Today, I'm challenging you, and myself, to trust that the Lord will fight for us, He will give us eyes to see our salvation, but we need to silence ourselves and wait on Him. Scriptures Referenced:Exodus 3, 13, 14Ephesians 6:10-18Luke 11Matthew 252 Corinthians 6, 10Hebrews 13:5You can find me on Instagram / Threads

    Remembering the Lord's Benefits

In the middle of suffering, affliction and difficulties, it can be easy to forget what the Lord has done for us and the depth of who He is. However, David gives us a template in Psalm 103 that shows us how to walk through this life by doing one simple thing: remembering. When we take time to trace the work of the Lord's hand in our lives...it can shift our perspective and our hearts. It can put us in a place of worshiping the Lord for what He has done. When we remember, we humble ourselves before Jesus, and we see, once again, that our days are in His hands and we can trust Him with everything. He is worthy of our love, our sacrifices, our devotion, and our worship. Today I pray you will join me as we bless the Lord and remember the great things He has done. Scriptures (and other things) mentioned:Psalm 1031 Peter 2Hebrews 12Exodus 20Deuteronomy 5Gary Schneeberger's episodeEmily J's episodes: Part 1 and Part 2Shane and Shane: His Mercy Is MoreBenefits: Gemul (Hebrew) word studyFear: Yare (Hebrew) word studyYou can find me on Instagram / Threads

The Journey to Forgiveness Part Two - with Emily J.

*Please note this episode deals with some serious subject matter like abuse, divorce and harm toward others. While these topics are not discussed explicitly, I encourage you to listen with discernment.*Make sure you've listened to last week's episode before listening to part two!Emily J. continues to share how the Lord brought her through one of the darkest times in her life: her dad being arrested, convicted, and sent to prison for murder. However, over the years, Jesus has moved Emily to try to reconcile with her dad; something that seemed impossible more than twenty years ago. Though her story of reconciliation is one of hope, wisdom, discernment, and caution, Emily encourages each of us to listen for the Lord's voice and His word when it comes to the issue of forgiveness. She also explains how she's come to understand that reconciliation is something the Lord has led her to do, and that there are times when that is not possible. I pray her wisdom and vulnerability in Jesus minister to you if you find yourself on a similar journey of forgiveness. You can find me on Instagram / Threads

Whether it's forgiving others or ourselves, we're often faced with a command from Jesus that seems difficult at best, and impossible at worst to see through. My guest today is my dear friend, Emily J. And she has a powerful testimony of how Jesus walked her through one of the most horrific times in her life with grace, compassion, love, and truth. And how He led her from a place where forgiveness felt like something that wasn't deserved to a gift given with grace, wisdom, and discernment. Holy Guacamole - A Lenten Parable

No - the title isn't a misnomer. Guacamole does have a sacred space in my story. The Lord used guacamole to show me that there are places in my life that I have hought would do me deep harm. Yet, in believing Him and trusting His voice, that things that have so deeply wounded us and hurt us (whether by our own hand or the hands of others...) that Jesus can redeem. My prayer is this story of healing and care would bless you, encourage you, and help you as you face your own stories of stepping forward into hard healing. True healing can often be painful, but the Lord promises to help us through it. To bind up our broken hearts. To reveal His love, grace, and mercy to us in ways that deepen our union with Him. Scriptures and Resources Referenced:Ecclesiastes 3:11Romans 8With the Perrys: Christine Caine episodeYou can find me on Instagram / Threads

7 Verses to Prepare Our Hearts for Lent

Whether you formally observe Lent or not, we are entering into a sobering, serious time where we contemplate the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. And while Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, it's important to take the time to prepare for what the Lord might want to do in our hearts, minds, souls, and spirits. Today I've selected seven different groups of Scriptures, all designed to flow together to meditate on the next seven days. However you observe (or don't observe) Lent, my prayer is that these selections will guide us into considering the magnitude of what Jesus has done for us. That we would worship the Father for the incredible gift of His Son and the lavishness of His grace poured out on us through Jesus. That we would thank the Holy Spirit for leading us into all Truth and opening the Word to us. I pray that as we consecrate ourselves to the Lord during this time, we would grow in revelation of Jesus, knowing the Lord in the beauty of His holiness, and deepen our union with Him. Scriptures Referenced: Song of Solomon 3:4Hebrews 1:1-42 Corinthians 4:6Philippians 2:1-11Genesis 1John 1Colossians 1John 5 and 8Acts 1Revelation 5:11-14John 19:16-18Revelation 1:5-61 John 4:9-11Luke 24:44-47Mark 8:34-37You can find me on Instagram / Threads

I Will Declare the Works of the Lord

Discipleship is a long journey on a narrow way. But that doesn't mean it is joyless, soulless, and always horrible. There are times, however, it can feel that way. And when it does, the Bible gives us plenty of ways that we can fight against it. One of the best ways is worship and preaching the truth of the Gospel to ourselves. Today, I want to take some time, and encourage you to make some space in your day to worship the Lord by following Asaph's pattern in Psalm 77. Remember, meditate, and talk about what the Lord has done. Let's remind ourselves of WHO our God is, the beauty of His salvation, the glory of His cross, the bounty of His love, the purity of His holiness, and how He has been unfailingly kind and faithful to us. My prayer is that as we do this, we will once again behold Jesus in all His beauty, aligning our hearts to His truth, and receive fresh boldness and endurance to keep proclaiming the Good News of this great Gospel to a world in desperate need of Jesus. Scriptures Referenced:Psalm 77:4-15Philippians 2:13Galatians 6:92 Corinthians 4:6Hebrews 1:1-3John 14, 15, and 161 Timothy 1:15Psalm 117You can find me on Instagram / Threads

Living in the Hope of Jesus with Gary Schneeberger

I am THRILLED about today's episode featuring my dear friend and mentor, Gary Schneeberger. Gary is a seasoned PR Professional with his own PR firm, Roar, he is a husband, step-father, son, brother, friend, and most importantly a faithful follower of Jesus. Today, he shares his journey in sobriety, the verses that keep him strong in the Lord, and why his motto, "I am more than my mistakes and less than my accomplishments" has helped him frame his life in the light of the Lord's glory and love, rather than his sin or his good works. There are also plenty of laughs as I get to reminisce with my friend about fun projects we worked on, the gift of friendship, and the goodness of Jesus. Boasting in Our Weaknesses

In today's episode, I'm tackling one of the New Testament's most well known verses: "“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness...for when I am weak then I am strong." But what is rarely talked about is Paul's response to the Lord's revelation that the thorn in his flesh is for the Lord's glory. There is power available from Jesus to endure the sufferings and afflictions of this life. Paul makes the conscious decision to boast in the weakness of his body so that he can know the power of Jesus resting on him. The Lord isn't cruel in what He appoints, but desires for us to know the beauty of dependence on Him, that His power, mercy, goodness, love, and joy can be manifest within us. This isn't a fleshy optimism, but a choice to trust the Lord and His desire for us to know Him, be sanctified, and grow in our faith. Scriptures Referenced:2 Corinthians 12:7-10Hebrews 4:12-15John 15:5James 1:2-4Interested in inductive Bible study? Learning to Love the Word of the Lord

We've all made resolutions to read the Bible more at the beginning of a new year. But soon we find ourselves faltering, hitting a wall, or sometimes feeling convicted and pushing the Word away. In this episode, I share how the Lord challenged the motivation behind my goal of reading the Bible in a year. And I talk about how, through Psalm 119, the Lord is answering a prayer He stuck in my heart: how to love the Word more deeply because the Word is Jesus Himself. As we look at Psalm 119 today, my prayer is the Lord deepens our love for the Scriptures and Himself, and that we would see how powerful His word is to revive, correct, and sustain us. Scriptures Referenced:Psalm 119:25, 71,92,164,172Hebrews 4:12John 1:1-5Matthew 7Colossians 1:15-17Romans 71 John 1:1You can find me on Instagram / Threads

The Joy of the Lord's Salvation

C.S. Lewis once said, "Joy is the serious business of heaven." In today's episode, I talk candidly about how putting together today's episode was a challenge, directly related the word the Lord gave me for the year: Joy. Whether it's in a season of needing to confess hidden sin before the Lord, and letting Him dig out deep roots or a season of deepening abiding in Jesus...the Lord's joy is available to us. But it often is cultivated in ways we don't expect.  And it isn't something we can produce on our own. But the good news is that the Lord wants us to have His joy, and He will use whatever means necessary for us to experience His joy in our lives and He will, according to His word, make our joy complete.Scriptures referenced:Psalm 51:10-12John 15:1-11John 16Philippians 4Acts 32 Corinthians 6You can find me on Instagram / Threads

Remembering 2025 and Looking Forward to 2026

There is power in remembering the Lord's goodness, especially in the struggle, suffering, and difficulty of life. Today, I'm remembering how Jesus has carried me through the most grievous and horrible year of my life. Yet He has showed up in the most amazing and sometimes quiet ways. As I look back, I'm asking two questions: What does remembering what the Lord has done provoke in you and me? And in the midst of what we walk through in this life, what do we think the Lord can provide? Then, as I look forward, I'm sharing how the Lord has given me the word Joy for this year. Not the kind of head-in-the-sand blind optimism. That's not joy. But delight in Him and who He is. How there is joy and delight in fixing my eyes, mind, and heart on Jesus, following His leading, resting in His love, holding fast to Him in trial, and trusting His will. Take Courage in the Lord

Following up from last week, I'm digging deeper in to Mark 6 and why it's so important that Jesus tells the disciples to take courage and not be afraid. When life's storms try to swallow us whole, and things seem bleak and difficult, Jesus is with us. He's calling us to courage. To deepen the roots of our faith and trust in Him. He wants us to walk confidently in Him, not in fear, which clouds our vision and takes our eyes off Him. The Lord was faithful to walk the disciples through many, many storms. And He's faithful to do the same for you and me. Today, will we take courage and not fear? Even if we can't tangibly discern Him, Jesus is with us and He will get us through the storm.Scriptures Referenced:Mark 6:45-51Ephesians 6:18Philippians 3:12Acts 3:1-10Mark 4:35-41Psalm 1You can find me on Instagram / Threads

When Jesus Sends You into The Storm

The storms of life are inevitable, but guess what? So is Jesus and His being with us in them. Though there are many times where we can't see Him, discern His presence, or understand why we are going through what we are going through, Jesus is always with us. Because He's promised to never leave us or forsake us. However there are times that our lack of discerning His person or presence comes from a hardening of heart. In today's episode, I share what the Lord taught me about my own hardness of heart through the disciples' experience in the storm in Mark 6. I'm preaching to myself today, friends, reminding myself (and you) that Jesus has always provided for me, He's never been late, and He has been with me in the midst of every storm I've faced. And He's with you too. I pray you find encouragement no matter what difficulties, hurts, griefs, sorrows, or even joys you're facing today. Scriptures referenced:Mark 6 (v.45-52 is the main focus)Matthew 7:24-27Luke 6:46-49Hebrews 13:5Mark 5:25-45John 4John 11:5-6You can find me on Instagram / Threads

    Give Thanks to the Lord

What are you thankful for? Or in light of what you are facing in life, does it feel close to impossible to be thankful? It's tempting to believe that when life is completely broken or full of betrayal or sorrow that thankfulness feels unimaginable. But Jesus has shown us a better way.The night before Jesus was crucified, He instituted the sacrament of Communion. He passed the cup and broke unleavened bread, telling us to eat and drink in remembrance of Him and His crucifixion. Yet, before He passed these things around the table, Jesus gave thanks. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, and enter into the Christmas season, what is the cup that is before you? What is broken in your life, and feels like it can never be put right? Are we willing to give thanks for these things, even though grief and sorrow are our companions? Do we realize that when we give thanks to the Lord in the midst of our sorrow and trouble, this is also a way that we show the Lord's death and resurrection until He returns?Friends, I know life is difficult for many. But today, my challenge to you and to me, is to look around and ask the Lord to help us find things that we can be truly thankful for. Scriptures Referenced:Luke 22:14-20Matthew 26: 27-282 Corinthians 10:3-6Philippians 4:61 Thessalonians 4:17, 5:16-18Hebrews 13:5Psalm 103Isaiah 61:1-3You can find me on Instagram / Threads

    Delight Yourself in the Lord

What does it mean to delight ourselves in the Lord? We love to quote that verse, yet David outlines a way to walk with the Lord, where trust, faithfulness, and commitment play a big part in what it means to delight in the Lord. Today, I'm reminding myself (and you!) that there is delight to be found in the Lord when we trust Him. When we obey Him. When we cultivate faithfulness right where we are.As we head toward Thanksgiving and the end of the year, I want to turn my heart towards thanking the Lord and practicing gratitude for all He's done in the midst of a difficult and grievous year. Will you join me?Scriptures referenced:Psalm 37:3-5From last week's episode: Genesis 29:31-35 Genesis 41:50-51Galatians 5Hebrews 12:2-3Ephesians 2:8-10Psalm 119Jeremiah 17:9Ephesians 6:23-24You can find me on Instagram / Threads

God's Fruit in the Land of Affliction

Do you believe that the Lord will bring fruit in your life through affliction?Today, I'm getting passionate on the podcast as I preach the truth to myself - and you all get to listen. I briefly examine two specific examples in the lives of Leah and Joseph. Both afflicted, though in different ways, they experienced how the Lord saw their suffering and eventually answered them in the midst of it. They both came to a place where they could praise the Lord and bless Him for the affliction they walked through because it bore fruit. Can we and will we do the same? That's my challenge to you and to myself today: as we walk through suffering, will we trust the character of God who has proven Himself to us again and again? Or will we depend on our own emotions, what we see, and how we feel? Scriptures referenced:Genesis 29:31-35Genesis 41:50-51 (And listen to Voddie Baucham's sermon, "Let That Stuff Go"!)Romans 8:28Mark 4:13-201 Thessalonians 5:23-24You can find me on Instagram / Threads

Casting Anxieties, Trusting in the Lord's Care

Questions of the Day: How has Jesus shown His love to you this week? What are you wrestling with that you need to cast on Him and trust Him with the outcome?Anxiety can cripple me at any given moment with fear about the future. Concern about relationships. Feeling responsible for other people's reactions rather than walking in the peace of the Lord. These are just a few of the examples where anxiety takes over. But I've realized many times that my anxiety stems from my pride and my need for control. However, I'm learning that Jesus wants me to not only cast my anxiety on Him, but trust His character - which has already been revealed in Scripture! The Power of the Lord in Our Weakness

In a follow up to last week's episode, I wanted to share some of the lessons the Lord taught me about Himself and His Word. Walking through suffering and affliction isn't easy and the Lord is so gracious and kind in His comfort. However, He also uses these things to deepen our union with Him. The Lord has used the things I've walked through to not only help me learn about His grace and mercy, but to expose areas of sin in me: where I have believed wrong thing about Him, fallen into self-centered wallowing in the midst of difficulty, and fought to believe Him and not the lies of the enemy. I pray this episode blesses you and encourages you in your walk with Jesus. Scriptures referenced: John 8:31-32Psalm 130:1-61 Peter 5:6-11Matthew 7:24-27Hebrews 5:7-102 Corinthians 12:7-10You can find me on Instagram / Threads

Please note: today's episode deals with sensitive issues like reproductive complications and infertility. What do you do when you when you find out that you won't be able to have children as a single woman?Today, I'm sharing a part of my story - how Jesus has faithfully walked me through endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, uterine fibroids, and ultimately a hysterectomy at the age of 30. Though I've walked through the valley of the shadow of death and struggled with how my body has not functioned correctly - Jesus has been faithful through it all. It is my privilege to share both the difficulties, depressions, and wrestlings with the Lord as well as His blessings, gifts and comforts. How to Love the Lord

Loving the Lord means surrendering to Him every day. Jesus says we can't be His disciple if we don't pick up our cross and deny ourselves. What does this practically look like? What does it mean to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Is the Lord expecting perfection? In today's episode, I talk about why following the Lord doesn't mean perfection, and why the Lord is pleased when we wrestle and fight to know Him and lose everything for His sake, to know Him and be faithful where He's called us. Scriptures talked about today:Hebrews 12:3John 17:3 Philippians 3:7-11Joshua 22:5 Romans 1:5Hebrews 11:6Job 1:20-21Matthew 4:10 Matthew 5:3Matthew 18:1-4Acts 20:24 James 4:6-10John 15:9-11Romans 16:26I used BibleHub.com to do all my word studies. Loving the Lord

Jesus tells us three times in the Gospels that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. But what does that mean? How does that look? In today's episode I talk about how Jesus Himself showed us how to fulfill that commandment in the example He gives us. And though we won't do it perfectly like He did, He has given us everything we need to love the Lord with all we are and how that then shapes how we love others as we love ourselves.Scriptures talked about today (check out BibleHub.com!): Matthew 22:35-402 Corinthians 4:6Hebrews 1Matthew 4Luke 4Mark 12:28-34Luke 10:25-29Matthew 11:28-30Luke 2:41-52Philippians 2:1-11John 12:23-28Luke 22:39-44John 14:10 (I said John 5 but it’s John 14!)2 Corinthians 12:9-10Micah 6:8Jude 20-22You can find me on Instagram / Threads
