    Intro E1 HOPE

Welcome to..HOPE instead of Nope!Fighting for a better quality of life in the face of Parkinson’sEpisode 1IntroI am making this podcast for the millions of people diagnosed with Parkinson’s and those thatcare FOR and ABOUT them.******************PURPOSE: I want to create a resource and provide inspiration for those affected byParkinson’s’ who refuse to accept the implication that there is no hope for a better quality oflife. Finding information is not always easy, BUT ITS OUT THERE. There IS research beingconducted right now to find a way for those with Parkinson’s to live a better life. There IS acollection of evidence that points in the general direction of HOPE.******************OUR STORY: A little about us. My name is Kristen, my inspiration, the love of my life, and myhusband is Gregor. Gregor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 12 years ago and our liveshave never been the same since. In the early days, we were told the only options he had weremedications. Those medications had limited effectiveness, and plenty of side effects.******************It didn’t seem possible that there was essentially nothing else we could do. This was 2014, sodespite my internet searches, I wasn’t able to find much, especially more than unfoundedguesses and unproven theories. People were out there claiming to have pushed back their ownsymptoms into remission and if we only paid hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars wewould have the keys to success.*******************This didn’t seem to us the path we wanted to take. But we didn’t give up. Gregor kept fighting every day and I kept searching. Now, twelve yearslater, internet searches are a whole lot easier. I am now finding legitimate research and articlesand podcasts by people who have the credentials to know what they are talking about. I’vecollected a long list of strategies that have benefited Gregor and myself along with him. Wehave improved our quality of life and have hope for a more positive future.****************I understand that everyone and every situation is different. I know that what’s right for me maynot be right for you. I am not giving advice, but sharing things that have worked for us andstrategies you might apply in search of what is right for you.***************Keep consulting with your medical professional and use what you discover alongside thedoctors treatments as you see fit. Remember however that the person that has your or yourloved one’s best interests in mind is YOU. Also remember that you are NOT alone. Anestimated 90,000 new Parkinson’s diagnoses are made each year. Every patient and everyfamily member is there right alongside you in your quest for a better life.******************I am an absolute beginner with making podcasts and learning as I go, so thank you for yourforgiveness and patience through my failures and successes. Now… let’s do this together.
