The Mysterious Production of Eggs
HWSC & Logues return for Episode 5 and we're singing the praises of Andrew Bird. This one is about world building. As in, building the world you want to see from the sound that's inside your head... Whatever that looks like for you. Andrew Bird knew what he was doing when he took some time off the gypsy jazz and went back to Galena, IL to hammer out the unique sounds that would become the Mysterious Production of Eggs. An album that literally sounds you've been swept away to some sort of dream world with weird weather systems and noble beasts. Listen to us on Fountain.fm and holler at us on Wisp (or your nostr client of choice). If you can't do that, email us at [email protected] . Find the Companion to this episode on nostr and on https://hotwax.club (where we have also added some new easter eggs like the Club Constitution) We forgot to announce on this episode, but Radiohead is next (spoiler). Someone recently asked for a special episode on Jay Reatard dedicated to the plebs. Was it you? We casually threw out some albums we might do this year, but we're relaxing. We're freeestyling, dawg. You can find the list in older episode descriptions, but it's no matter. We are open to requests though! Joy As An Act of Resistance
Hot Wax Club. Logues. Episode 4. IDLES. Everything is spin, same as it ever was. Cringe with me, dear listener. You can listen and speak to us on Fountain.fm and nostr. If you can't do that, email us at [email protected] Once a band makes it to NPR do you even want to listen anymore? Trick question. Man up and enjoy something nice. [I forgot to mention the lyrical gem that is "a bag of Michael Keaton" -Logues] Find the Companion to this episode on nostr and on https://hotwax.club We are open to requests. Someone asked for a special episode on Jay Reatard dedicated to the plebs Radiohead is now higher on the list We might do some of these this year, no particular order: The Wonder Years, the Police (the band, not the cops), Arlo Guthrie, Santana, Sex Pistols (I guess), Common, Sufjan Stevens, Beastie Boys, The Rolling Stones, 'Tallica, Led Zep, Talking Heads, of Montreal, Fugees, Phoenix, Pixies, IDLES, the Offspring, Beach House, and more! Today I want to talk about The Rolling Stones. There's a good chance you're thinking "Who?" or "Oh brother, must we continue to milk this poor chapped teat?"But listen, this band is important to the philosophy of the Club and this program and I'll tell you a little more about that. And their album Some Girls is a Rolling Stones starter pack if you're uninitiated. Let your hair down and maybe give this one a spin....Extra info for this episode will be posted to Nostr (long form events) as well as to the club site at https://hotwax.club This specific copy (as far as I can tell): COC 39108https://www.discogs.com/release/2399029-The-Rolling-Stones-Some-GirlsLP, Album, 2nd Version (Faces Removed) ---------We are open to requests. Americana
Logues here, we're running episode 2. My theory is that deep down, every punk rock musician you know is a theater kid. This is the Offspring's "art" record, and it's arguably their best. Tune in for surprising (or not surprising) comparisons to thrash metal. Spin something. I'm New Here
Call me Logues. Doors are now open at the Hot Wax, and this is the maiden episode. We're talking about I'm New Here by Gil Scott-Heron. It seemed like a poetic start to the podcast. This thing is like watching a movie with your ears, and I think it's got something for everybody. This specific copy: XL Recordings gatefold (catalog XLLP471) . More info, including pictures, will be available on our website soon.
