Human x Machine podcast

The “Human x Machine” podcast looks at the ever-increasing interplay between humans and machines and is made in collaboration with global C-suite leaders who are operating at the cutting edge of technology, product, entrepreneurship, design and academia.  The podcast will bring you not just interviews with top experts, but their wisdom on what lessons they’ve learned from the past, how they operate today and what they anticipate the future will look like. The leaders you will hear from come from industries that are being rapidly disrupted and accelerated by technological advances like artificial intelligence, cloud computing and where change for us as humans is imperative – we either get involved or get left behind. I ask them about their failures, how they make better decisions today and how we can all become more consciously competent in this accelerated age. The show is hosted by Christopher Lomas. 17. Claude Cowork - AI Agents Working For You (feat. Barbara Johnson, COO, Kortical)

Can anyone get AI Agents working for them? In this episode, we explore the shift from AI as a corporate mandate to AI as a personal utility. While much of the discussion around artificial intelligence focuses on high-level strategy, the real revolution happens when individuals use it to solve their own "boring" problems, like data extraction, research automation, and the endless cycle of copy-pasting. Our guest is Barbara Johnson, the Chief Operating Officer and non-technical Co-Founder of the award-winning Auto ML company Kortical. With a background in commerce and marketing rather than engineering, Babs shares her firsthand experience of "practicing what she preaches" by automating her own professional and personal worlds.Show links:Barb's Linkedin video post about Claude CoWorkGetting started with Claude: Step-by-step guides (thank you Ruben Hassid)Anthropic's "Get started with Claude Cowork" guideBarbara Johnson on LinkedinKortical websiteKey topics discussed in this episode:The "Aha!" Moment: When AI stopped being industry news and became a personal tool that no longer required a developer to implement.Claude CoWork vs. Claude Code: Understanding the differences between these tools and how non-technical users can steer agents back on track when they encounter "black box" errors or hallucinations.Building with "Lego Bricks": A look at the current tech stack and how to connect tools like email and spreadsheets to an "AI brain" to summarise your work week. The Control Problem: Navigating the risks of agent access and the technical nuances of UI-based automation versus text-based codebase interaction.Empowerment over Replacement: Why the future of AI is about unburdening humans from robotic tasks to make room for creative, high-value work.Listen, Watch and Subscribe on all your favourite platforms: Apple, Amazon, Youtube, Spotify, Jiosaavn, Deezer and more: https://linktr.ee/humanxmachineSponsorship or interview opportunities: Contact Christopher LomasMore:📢 For DAILY POSTS on Emerging Tech, Product Management, Leadership, AI, Gen AI, Automation and Quantum Computing updates, follow Christopher Lomas on Linkedin💙 If you enjoyed this episode, who else might? 16. The Orbital Pivot – Moving the Cloud to Deep Space

The "Cloud" is finally leaving the ground. In this episode of The Human Machine, Christopher Lomas explores why the data center industry has hit a terrestrial wall and why the vacuum of space is the inevitable next frontier for AI. What could this shift mean for you and your customer or employee experience? As of April 2026, the environmental and energy costs of AI are staggering: a single 40-megawatt data center consumes over 1 million tons of fresh water annually. To escape this "energy crunch," visionaries like Philip Johnston (CEO, Starcloud) and Elon Musk (CEO, SpaceX) are racing to build orbital regions where solar energy is 36% more intense and cooling is "free" via the blackness of the void.Highlights of this episode:The Physics of the Void: How engineers solve the paradox of "Passive Radiative Cooling" and the "Radiation Tax" of cosmic rays. The Billion-Dollar Race: Why Starcloud became the fastest unicorn in history and how SpaceX plans to deploy 100 gigawatts of orbital capacity.Geopolitics in Orbit: The rise of China’s "Thousand Sails" constellation and the shift toward "Space based AI data centers" as the ultimate data haven. The "Mean Physics" of Space: Navigating the risks of hardware failure and the 40% increase in U.S. Space Force budgets to protect these new assets. The backbone of the global economy is moving from under the Atlantic to Low Earth Orbit. Series 3 Introduction: A new 'Splinternet' of Emerging Tech

Series 3 Introduction and Overview: The digital age is over; the material age has begun. In Series 3 of The Human Machine podcast, Christopher Lomas goes "deep into the stack" to explore the fundamentals defining the new world order. From the rise of Silicon Fortresses, Space Data Centers and AI-native ghost cities to the high-stakes collision of biology and silicon, we'll examine how the geography of power is being redrawn. As the world splits into distinct approaches to AI, one question remains: In a "Splinternet" of competing values, whose reality will you plug into? Hosted on Acast. 15. Will drones soon be buzzing through our skies? Eoghan Huston (Chief Operating Officer, Manna Drone Delivery)

Season 2: Episode 15: Eoghan Huston (Chief Operating Officer, Manna Drone Delivery). In this episode I interviewed Eoghan Huston (COO at Manna Drone Delivery), we talked about the revolution that drones could make to our skies, and to customer experiences - can you imagine if your takeaway actually arrived hot (in less than 3 minutes from being ready!)?! We got the chance to go under the hood of the drones' technology and Eoghan gave us the low down on regulation and what's holding back mass adoption, at least for now.Given that the visuals really help when talking about drones and how they operate, we made this episode a 'video special' and you can find the video version on our YouTube channel along with other video specials. 10. "Ethical Machines" - When should AI teams take ethics seriously? Reid Blackman Phd. - CEO, Virtue.

Series 2, Episode 10: Reid Blackman, Phd., Founder & CEO, Virtue and Author of "Ethical Machines".This episode is full of candid advice from Reid who has advised tech giants in Silicon Valley, Governments, as well as NASA, the FBI and the World Economic Forum. In our discussion he shares about when the right time is to really start to take Ethics seriously in developing small and enterprise-wide AI ethics programs - the answer might not be quite what you expected! We also talked about a 'systemic unconscious incompetence' around some of the big issues in AI and Emerging Technology around topics like race, gender, human rights and privacy. We also talk about some of the biggest corporate transactions that have happened and are happening in the world, asking is it ethical for the 'Tech Bros' to buy, transform and sell these companies (Twitter, TikTok, OpenAI etc) to meet their personal goals or should there be some kind of 'competition standards' body that qualifies deals on behalf of the general public and qualify whether the transaction will also improve the users' lives. Human x Machine podcast 2024 Series 1 Trailer

Introducing the Human x Machine podcast, hosted by Christopher Lomas. Join us as we explore the influence of Emerging Technologies like AI, Automation, AR, VR and Quantum computing. Find out what’s going on and what we can learn. Which waves are at their peak hype and what is coming next?Christopher has been at the heart of Digital, Social and Emerging Technologies for nearly two decades and in this new podcast he'll be looking at the ever-increasing interplay and entanglement between humans and machines, made in collaboration with global C-suite leaders who are operating at the cutting edge of technology, product, entrepreneurship, design and academia. The podcast will bring you not just interviews with top C-level experts, but their wisdom on what lessons they’ve learned from the past, how they operate differently today and what they anticipate the future will look like. The leaders you will hear from come from industries that are being rapidly disrupted and accelerated by technological advances and where change for us as humans is imperative – together we will explore how we hold the tension of whether we on the one hand ‘get involved’ or on the other ‘get left behind’ – and what are some ethical boundaries that we should not cross. We will also hear from these leaders as individuals, and asking them about their failures, how they make better decisions today and how we can all become more consciously competent in this accelerated age.Listen and subscribe:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/36y1Xiz0Ygj4cZEalh0CWvApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/human-x-machine-podcast/id1766045840Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/es-co/podcasts/9b426462-4ecf-466c-8010-1c171493c6c9/human-x-machine-podcastAudible: https://www.audible.co.uk/podcast/Human-x-Machine-podcast/B0D8WMCDRFDeezer: https://www.deezer.com/en/show/1001222401Jiosaavn: https://www.jiosaavn.com/shows/human-x-machine-podcast/1/nuEAqP0hMIU_RSS Feed: https://feeds.acast.com/public/shows/66715b013d8df9a86f181063 Also available on Samsung Podcast player "Samsung Free" and "Podcast Index"More:📢 For DAILY POSTS on Emerging Tech, AI, Gen AI, Automation and Quantum Computing updates, follow Christopher Lomas on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christopherlomas/💙 If you enjoyed this episode, who else might?
