Light The Fire - Andrew, Blake, and Seth - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

After what felt like nearly a decade, Light The Fire finally joins me on Ian's Untitled Scene Show 🤘Seth, Andrew, and Blake stop by for a long-overdue conversation that somehow manages to be equal parts Scene history lesson, therapy session, and fun hangout. We dive into the band's evolution from the early days through lineup changes, the unexpected way Seth ended up stepping into the frontman role, and how what could have been a disaster actually became the version of Light The Fire fans know today. We also get into ‘Death Won't Be The End Of Me’ (Parts 1 and 2), its long journey through pandemic delays, independent releases, recording with Beau Burchell of Saosin, and how the entire album slowly transformed into something much bigger than originally planned. We also talk about songwriting, blending melodic hardcore and metalcore influences, collaborating as a full unit, the emotional weight behind some of the material, and why some songs hit a little harder than others. Along the way, we get into old school Scene energy, touring stories, features with Mike from No Bragging Rights and Sean from Decayer, shots on stage, and maybe even expose some secrets the band had been hiding all along…There are laughs, some honest moments, and a few stories I definitely did not expect going into this one.Light The Fire finally made it onto the show, and this conversation was worth every year of waiting 🤘Check out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 Apple MusicMake sure to support Light The Fire in all they do! 157frq - Jack Regent - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

On this episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, I’m joined by Jack of 157frq, and it’s another episode that has been a long time coming 🤘We get into A World I Was Never A Part Of, and this is not your typical surface-level album chat. This record came from years of grinding, real-life experiences, and finally putting something out that’s completely his. No chasing trends, no playing the game. Just raw, honest music that clearly hit harder than even he expected.Jack opens up about where that comes from, too. We talk about growing up, dealing with isolation and bullying, and how those experiences shaped both the sound and the message behind the album. There’s a lot here about mental health, self-destruction, and trying to figure yourself out when you didn’t even think you’d make it this far.We also get into how the album actually came together, including the moment he realized he finally found the sound, plus some behind-the-scenes on specific tracks that you’ll definitely hear differently after this.We also go into past bands, internet nonsense, and some real talk about how people interact with music and each other now. This one’s real. Sydney - Jay Jensen and Scott Sanderson - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

This one’s been a long time coming 🤘After 20 years, I finally sat down with Scott and Jay from one of my favorites, Sydney! We get into everything. The full original lineup is somehow back together after all this time, what actually led to the band calling it quits back in 2009, and how much of it had to do with the Scene shifting versus label pressure and just straight up bad timing. There’s some real honesty about their second record not landing the way they wanted, and what it feels like to watch the sound you built your band on start getting passed by something heavier. We also talk about the return, including the very “Sydney” move of coming back after two decades with a minute-and-a-half punk jam for no real reason at all… which, of course, has a deeper story behind it than you’d expect. There’s a ton of Scene talk in here, too. Touring stories, how fast things changed in the mid-2000s, getting compared to bands they weren’t even trying to sound like, and what they were actually listening to when they wrote that first record. You may be surprised…If you were there for this era, you’re going to feel this one. If you weren’t, this is one of those conversations that explains why it still matters. Funeral For A Friend is even mentioned!Sydney is back 🤘Original Photo Credit: Marion MsCheck out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 iTunesMake sure to support Scott, Jay, and Sydney in all they do! LEVELS - Jager Felice - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

On this new Conversation Edition of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, I’m joined by Jager of LEVELS! We talk about the upcoming album This Will Make You Feel Again dropping April 10 on SharpTone Records, how the band has evolved from the self-titled and PULSE era into something way more electronic, groove-driven, and actually intentional, and why this feels like the first time LEVELS really sound like the band they were supposed to be all along. Jager is also just a really interesting guy to talk to, so instead of canned answers, we get into influences, writing philosophy, lineup changes, the Arkansas scene, and what it’s like trying to build a band when you’re not from a main Scene city. From there, we go full music-nerd, full scene talk, full rant mode activated. We get into writing songs around synths and atmosphere instead of just chugging for the sake of chugging, why groove matters more than technical flexing, why so many bands right now sound the same, and why live shows have started to feel like watching people stand in front of their own backing tracks. We also talk touring, the weird middle ground LEVELS is in right now, where they sound like they should already be playing bigger stages but still have to grind like a newer band, and what it actually takes to stand out in a scene that constantly says it wants something different but keeps rewarding the same thing over and over. This is a really fun conversation with a really thoughtful guest, and definitely one of those conversations where you can tell the band isn’t just throwing songs at the wall and hoping TikTok picks one 🤘Check out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 iTunesMake sure to support Jager and LEVELS in all they do! Convictions - Mike Felker Is Back - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

Mike Felker of Convictions is back on Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, and this one is a little different than usual. Instead of the studio, this episode was recorded live in my car outside Come and Take It Live in Austin right before their show with Wolves At The Gate, which made the whole conversation feel much more in-the-moment and exactly the kind of thing this podcast was made for (with minimal sound issues).Mike and I catch up on everything that’s happened since the last time he was on the show, going even farther back than the I Won’t Survive era when Convictions had just gone independent after their time on InVogue, and how things have changed now that the band is touring behind The Fear of God. We talk about what life is really like as a DIY band in 2026, balancing touring, teaching vocals, songwriting work, and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into keeping a band alive when you’re not relying on a label to do it for you.We also discuss lineup changes over the last few years, how the current version of Convictions came together, why the band is comfortable touring without a bassist, and how the writing process for The Fear of God pushed things heavier while still keeping the emotional side that the band has always had. Mike talks about experimenting more with production, adding different sounds without losing what makes the band feel real, and why he still wants the live show to sound like a live band, not just a wall of tracks. From there, we get into one of those classic IUSS conversations about the metalcore scene, how some of the older MySpace-era influences seem to be coming back around, and why it’s interesting to see younger bands picking up sounds that never really went away for Convictions. We also talk about touring with Wolves At The Gate and Demon Hunter, and how being on the road with bands that have been doing this for years can turn into more life conversations than music. We finish up talking about the deluxe version of The Fear of God, the extra songs that got added later, new material that’s already being worked on, and what the future could look like for Convictions as they keep building without slowing down. And after seeing the show live that night, I can say this for sure: if this tour is coming anywhere near you, go see Wolves At The Gate and Convictions. Both bands sounded huge, the energy was there the whole night, and this lineup is definitely worth showing up early for 🤘Check out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 iTunesMake sure to support Mike and Convictions in all they do! Whether, I - Joshua Calhoun - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

It’s a brand new Conversation Edition and this one is pure scene nostalgia fun with real behind the scenes truth.I finally sit down with Joshua Calhoun of Whether, I to talk Dreamcatcher in 2013, signing to InVogue, rewriting Catalyst, bringing in features like Johnny Craig and Myka, Relocate, touring nonstop while working full-time jobs, and how label contracts, lineup shifts, and real life hits led to the band calling it quits in 2016.Then we get into the Whether, I resurrection. Moving On in 2021. Building toward Good Enough. The raw emotion behind Goodbye. The old school dual-vocalist chaos and growing up without losing the heavy. If you lived through Myspace-era metalcore, love true dual-vocalist bands, and ever wondered what really happened to Whether, I, this is the episode for you.Tune in and Scene up 🤘Check out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 iTunesMake sure to support Josh and Whether, I in all they do! Turtle Tea Party - Al Boltz Is Back - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

In this Conversation Edition of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, Ian welcomes back returning friend of the show Al Boltz, known for his work in Turtle Tea Party, XO Goodbye, ASLW, and beyond, for a wide-ranging and honest conversation that blends real life, music history, and Scene nostalgia. The episode opens with candid discussion about recent health struggles, recovery, and the challenge of staying creative through difficult stretches before shifting into deeper talk about songwriting inspiration, the evolution of Turtle Tea Party, and how different projects emerge from distinct emotional and musical spaces.Ian and Al also reflect on early MySpace-era influences, underground post-hardcore culture, long-held demos finally seeing release, and the surreal full-circle moments that come with collaborating with longtime inspirations. The conversation expands into touring memories, photography, travel in Japan, and the realities of surviving as an independent artist in today’s music landscape. It’s reflective, personal, and deeply rooted in the Scene spirit that defines the Conversation Editions.Note: There were some technical audio issues at the beginning where Al’s microphone had to be changed, which was addressed 🤘Tune in and Scene up 🤘Check out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 iTunes Support Al and everything he does! HOW TO PODCAST, VOL. 15 (END OF 2025) Feat Jake of Pyro, Ohio - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

Welcome to the END-OF-THE-YEAR (kind of) / BEST OF 2025 (maybe??) episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, featuring Jake Ohio of Pyro, Ohio, because this year demanded chaos, honesty, and zero filters.Ian and Jake recap 2025 by highlighting the best releases of the year, and no, this is not a lazy Top 10 list like a Scene poser would do. This is over 100 AMAZING RELEASES worth your time. Because the Scene is deeper than whatever the algorithm, TikTok, or certain YouTube personalities say it is 🤘They don’t just like what the Scene says is “popular” (cough cough Nik 👀). They like what’s actually good. And since honesty is kind of their whole thing, you’ll also get the WORST of 2025, because some releases absolutely earned the title! Oh — and yes — Nik’s sham “awards” show takes its annual beating:Will it be Sleep Token? Will it be Bad Omens?😴😴😴There’s a LOT to talk about, because no matter how rough, weird, or downright shitty 2025 may have been, it also delivered incredible bands and killer releases that deserve to be promoted and celebrated properly! And let’s be honest — Ian and Jake are the only ones you should trust to do it 🤘Still original.Still honest.Still the Scene.SCENE UP, BITCHES 🤘Check out the exclusive conversation below, including iTunes, Spotify, and more:Spotify 🤘 iTunesMake sure to support Pyro, Ohio, in all they do! 🎙️ Welcome back to Jake’s Untitled Scene Show—featuring none other than Ian Scene of Pyro, Ohio (you read that right) 🎙️In this special episode, the guys dive headfirst back into the Asking Alexandria/Danny Worsnop Warped Tour controversy—because apparently, another podcast just had to enter the chat. And guess what? Will he tune into this shiny new 2025 podcast, trying to GATEKEEP opinions and facts? Tune in and find out (Spoiler: probably not) 🤘Also this week: 🔥 New tracks from Attack Attack! and Ice Nine Kills (Was Ian right again? Of course he was) 💀 Album reviews: Dead7, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Split Chain, and Born Of Osiris 🎧 Plus: random Scene chaos, the return of a beloved bit, jokes that can’t possibly be cancelable, and actual Scene knowledge for balance 🤘It’s comedy, it’s chaos, it’s a Scene masterclass. 🎙️ Ian’s Untitled Scene Show is back with our first-ever Mid-Year Review—and yes, it’s as sic as you’re imagining 🎙️Ian and Jake Ohio (of Pyro, Ohio) kick things off with some serious talk, then quickly pivot to travel stories and questionable life choices (because, let’s face it, this is still a comedy music podcast 😏)But the real meat? The guys bring long, overly detailed, probably controversial lists of the Best, Good, Meh, and Worst of 2025 Scene music (so far). What's Up, Doc? Feat. Jake of Pyro, Ohio - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

🎙️ Ian’s Untitled Scene Show returns with your regularly scheduled dose of chaos, commentary, and scene-honesty you won’t find anywhere else (because no one else dares 🤐).Ian is joined once again by the ever-loyal Jake Ohio of Pyro, Ohio—because Vessel ghosted us. Again. Guess the Sleep Dimension has no return policy. 😴🚫This episode? Oh, it’s loaded. We’re calling out another wannabe sellout clinging to the Sleep Token teet like every other bore. The thirst is real, and the originality is… not. 🍼🙄But we’re just getting started. There’s scene drama aplenty—Linkin Park sparks garbage, SeeYouSpaceCowboy’s ex “vents”, All That Remains stupidity, and more. On top of that? News from Atreyu, Ghost Chant, and full-blown album takes on Stray From The Path, Lift The Curse, True North, and absolute heavy-hitters Wolves At The Gate. 🔥🐺It’s comedy, chaos, and real talk from the only podcast that still tells it like it is in a scene that definitely doesn’t want to hear it. AI Is A Weapon (Just Kidding, We Love Our Future Master) Feat. Jake of Pyro, Ohio - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

🎙️ Ian’s Untitled Scene Show is back with another episode that’s 100% AI-generated... just kidding (or are we? 👀). Jake Ohio (of Pyro, Ohio) returns to help Ian dissect the wild world of the scene—because who needs peace when you’ve got scene drama!?!?This week, the I Prevail saga continues with what might actually be their best song ever (we’re just as shocked as you are 😳). Then it’s on to Falling In Reverse teaming up with Marilyn Manson—from Violent Nature to God Is A Weapon…we’ve got you covered from all angles!🎤We also take a deep dive into FIR's new VIP package... and by "deep dive" we mean “look at the price and laugh.” 💸Next up: the AI art debate gets spicy, and Ice Nine Kills may or may not be launching a cryptic marketing scheme—will the cult-like simps and stans fall for it? We’re not sure... 🔪🧠Thankfully, the punk community is doing its part to keep us sane (bless you all), and we wrap it up with a review of the divisive powerhouse that is Senna’s new album, Stranger To Love. 🎧💔Scene drama, conspiracies, expensive selfies, and killer tunes—what more could you ask for? 🎙️ Welcome back to Ian's Untitled Scene Show! 🎙️ Vessel? Nowhere to be found (probably still recovering from last week’s Arcadian nap-fest), so Jake Ohio (of Pyro, Ohio) steps back in to help Ian stir the pot—and the pit 🤘This episode kicks off with the absolutely hilarious firing of Ian’s arch-nemesis from I Prevail (spoiler: we’re not crying, and neither is the scene). Then it's straight into a stacked lineup of album reviews: Arm’s Length, Novelists, Sleep Theory, Confessions of a Traitor, Bury Tomorrow, and The Callous Daoboys all get their moment under the scene spotlight 🎧🔥Also on deck? A much-needed rant on the plague of FFOs (For Fans Of...) and the absolute scene treason of hyping up Sleep Token over your own damn scene. 🙄 We see you. It’s time to set the scene straight—and maybe make a few enemies while we’re at it.
