Icing Pucks
by Icing Pucks Podcast
We, Bex and Ryan, got into ice hockey this year, 2026, and quickly became frustrated with the lack of inclusion and the complicated way many attempt to explain the sport. So we decided we could do better. We'll see (we do have raging ADHD). Join us as we break down the rules of the game, the players, and answer your questions about ice hockey in a fun, judgement free zone, where we won't mansplain concepts to you. <3

Player Positions and Roles
Please forgive the shitty audio - We were recording with shitty microphones. The audio will get better, I promise!Note: It's ALTERNATE Captain, not Assistant Captain - Bex has dyslexia and was screaming at the phone the entire time listening to this episode after recording. WE APOLOGIZENote: Laila Edwards played for the US team, not Canada team - forgive us!Recorded on May 14thThis week we break down player positions, player roles, and what the hell is a linesman and why are they needed when we have Referees? As always - if we are wrong, please let us know so we can learn!

Anatomy of an Ice Hockey Rink
(Note: This was recorded on May 11th)Welcome to our very first episode! We're so glad you're here! This is for the Girls, the Gays, the Theys, and all of you who want to learn about hockey but didn't think there was a space for you. Here is your space! No one can tell you where you do or don't belong. Hockey should be for everyone, so join Bex and Ryan as we break down hockey the way we wish it had been broken down for us when we got into the sport this year (2026)!This week Bex and Ryan are starting off strong with the anatomy of a hockey rink (which you can find references to on our Instagram page @IcingPucksPodcast), what icing is, and what offside means!Hockey should be accessible to everyone, even those who have never watched a sport before in their life. That's why our email and Instagram are open to all of you if you have more questions! At the end of the episode we keep repeating that if we are wrong, please correct us. We aren't trying to be annoying with that, but we are serious: We are new fans, ourselves! We just really enjoy going down these rabbit holes and immersing ourselves into this sport. We said a few things in this episode that were not correct:First: Bex stated that all arenas/rinks have the home team bench on the right hand side when you're watching the game. That was not correct. That's not a standard, every rink is different.Second: We said we thought a scrum was a fight for the puck. It's not. A scrum is another word for a fight. We make mistakes, but we will also correct ourselves when we catch it. In this case, we didn't catch it until after we had already recorded and edited the episode.Thank you for joining us!
