But don't let his age fool you into thinking he's a novelty act, George is putting in the work and building real momentum. With the age gap between us being wider than George's own age, it was refreshing to gain insight from someone both new to our comedy world and in a completely different stage of life and career. #146 J. Isaiah Evans

I had the usual amount of nerves that come with interviewing someone I've never met in person. However, those nerves disappeared the moment J. Isaiah Evans pulled up to the podcast studio in a brown car. The make and model are irrelevant. The important detail is that it was brown. You see, I, Travis Wright, have long wanted to buy a car in a sophisticated and timeless brown hue. Knowing that J. Isaiah is also a man of impeccable style, my nerves vanished. It felt like a sign from the universe that this episode was destined for greatness. J. Isaiah is best known as the frontman of the band 40 Acre Mule and has recently unveiled his solo project, J. Isaiah Evans & The Boss Tweed. With a new record coming out on July 11th, he was kind enough to sit down and talk music. #144 Bomethius (Jonathan Hodges)

There was a palpable tension in the room. Jonathan hadn't been on the podcast in a long time. Our last interaction was through a text message where he thanked me for an article I wrote about his previous full album release "Borrowed Time". I thought the article was clever and complementary but, it ultimately said that the music didn't resonate with me. Did the article enrage him? Was he playing the long game? Pretending to be appreciative of the article but secretly waiting until he could come on the pod to confront me? I've never thought of him as a violent man but, he could've been training Jiu Jitsu his entire home school career for all I know. As I set down at the microphone, full of fear and confusion, I decided to let come what may and I hit the record button. Bomethius is the brainchild/alter ego of Jonathan Hodges. Jonathan is multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. His latest single Thunderbird is available for streaming everywhere. Matt George is the guitarist for The Yes Ma'am band. He is a man with only first names. Even his middle name (which we reveal in this episode) is a first name. In addition to that amazing fact, we found out before starting the interview that we are neighbors and live on the same street. I walk my dog by his house everyday. The universe is weird, man! But seriously, the band is awesome and Matt was a great guy to chat with about many different subjects. So please, check out my neighbor's interview and go check out his band! Enjoy!

    #142 Jacob Marshall

Jacob Marshall is a stand-up comic and show producer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth comedy scene. Hopefully this interview is good but, in truth, it was sabotaged from the beginning. Sadly, only a couple of days before this interview, I went to trim my beard and I had it on the wrong setting. After accidentally taking a large chunk of my beard off my face I had no choice but to shave it all off and regrow it. So through most of the interview I'm just sitting across from Jacob staring at his glorious beard wishing I still had mine to give my jawline the male equivalent of contouring and to hide my double chin. Jacob was kind enough to bring a high percentage beer which helped ease my beardless face woes. Jacob is really funny and I can personally vouch that his show producing skills are damn fine also. Please go watch him perform live after listening to this podcast. Enjoy! I'M A FAN OF links: https://linktr.ee/Imafanof Jacob Marshall links: https://linktr.ee/kickbackcomedy

Chandler Cooper is a writer, rapper, singer and performer and social media star. Although he is likely not very wealthy, a lazy google search will confirm that he's worth millions of dollars and is the most successful rapper to hail from Cleburne, TX. The second part of that statement is likely true. Shout out to the Burne! During this interview Chandler required multiple bathroom breaks. Did we take a bathroom break together? Yes. Did we take that as an opportunity to sword fight and cross streams? You'll have to listen to the interview to find out. Be sure to check out his latest music video for the single "Funny" and keep an eye out for his next live performance. Enjoy! Zac Webb is a stand-up comic from the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Yes, we talk about stand-up comedy and all of the usual things but, it should be noted that he has been working out A LOT and getting in shape. So throughout most of this interview I was just in my own head thinking about how I'm fat and need to lose weight. I'm not sure if this inner monologue made the interview better or worse. You'll have to listen to find out. Also, Zac is really funny and you should go watch him live. Enjoy! Trey Mack has just released his new stand-up comedy special "Everything" on YouTube. Part stand-up comedy, part concert, part sermon and even a hint of poetry. I had the pleasure of talking with Trey about his comedy special, his music background, his religious upbringing, his military service and much much more. Enjoy! #136 Cody Swindell

Cody Swindell is a stand-up comic from the Dallas/Ft. Worth Comedy scene. As much as I like Cody and his mild natured attitude about life, I find myself wondering what makes him upset and rage at people. He didn't tell me any of that information in this episode. If you see him in person you should ask him about it. Enjoy! #133 Danny Tran

Danny Tran is a stand-up comic that recently transplanted to Dallas, TX and is quickly making a name for himself in the local comedy scene and in other clubs around the country. Danny is one of the few comics that I knew very little about before bringing him. on the show. The only thing I knew for sure is that he is a funny stand-up comic. By chance I wore my 2024 Dallas marathon shirt only to discover that Danny and I both ran the same marathon before meeting each other. I also spent a decent amount of time explaining to him that I think he should attempt to write and perform comedy in Vietnamese for Vietnamese Americans. Time will tell if he thought this was a good idea. And of course we talk a lot about comedy. Be sure to check out Danny live but for now, enjoy the show! #132 Danny McGough

Danny McGough is a stand-up comic from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Danny is an interesting mix of a what on the surface appears to be a chill dude with no ambition but is actually a clever drone business capitalist who uses a minimalist mindset to balance his financial goals with his comedy dream. In this episode we both agree that Smash Mouth is a great band, I'm still not sure what Greta Van Fleet is and we both think that living in his car for five months will be a wise financial decision. And of course, we talk about his comedy journey. Enjoy!
