It's homecoming week at Liberty High School with so much for the Blue Jays to celebrate. This week we are joined by LHS Principal, Dr. Mike Sharp, and Blue Jay Student Council President Greyson Horwitz.

Class of 2021 Liberty High School graduate, Ashton Maloney, made national headlines on June 6, 2025, as she helped lead the Texas Longhorns to the NCAA National Championship. Ashton reflects on her time in LPS, along with her amazing success with the Longhorns.

This week, Dallas visits with the recently-named LPS District Teacher of the Year Mr. Kurt Gates. He shares his journey in public education that has spanned nearly three decades.

As part of Board of Education Appreciation Month, this week we introduce you to our current LPS Board President, Mr. Angie Reed. In this interview, she shares with us her past experiences as a classroom teacher, which has served her well in this leadership position.

Liberty High School Senior, Langston Tervort, was recently named All-State in three fine arts categories that include: All-State Choir, All-State Band, and All-State Orchestra. Find out more about Langston and the commitment he makes to have such great success!

Two members of the Liberty High School football community were recently given awards that denote them as the best in the KC metro, and both were firsts in LPS. Senior running back Jaxon Hicks was named the Thomas A. Simone Award winner, which is given to the best high school player in the area. Head Football Coach Chad Frigon was named Kansas City Chiefs/Eric Driskell Coach of the Year. Hear from both about the Blue Jays' historic season.

Jason Maeder has spent 25 years teaching in LPS and also served over 30 years in the United States Army National Guard with several deployments. He joins us this Veterans Day to discuss balancing both commitments and getting to keep coming home to Liberty Public Schools.

Liberty North High School Senior Natalie Coleman recently made headlines by getting a perfect score on the ACT. Natalie shares this experience, along with the many other activities she is involved in.

Joel Lovelady began his duties as LPS Safety and Security Director on July 1, 2024. He recently sat down to share his story with us, and his role in leading a department that is committed to keeping our students and staff safe in Liberty Public Schools.
