    Episode 12 - Ramadan Mubarak!

With Ramadan 2021 just around the corner, S and F sit down to discuss their expectations for the holy month this year. From Ramadan prep to simply what they're looking forward to most, the two also compare Ramadan pre and post covid, and how that has affected their way of celebration. If you're looking to find out more on the origins of Ramadan and the benefits of fasting, check out our instagram @inside_out.podcast, and feel free to join the discussion in our comment section!

    Episode 11 - Let's Talk Black History

In honour of black history month, the Inside Out gang sit down to talk about how the month came to be, along with Canada and its relationship with black history. Listen to S, A, and F rant about Canada’s ridiculous portrayal as the “saviour” of slaves migrating from the United States, and how little the education system really teaches about black history. We know 10 minutes is barely enough to cover the rich history, struggles and successes, of black people; but we hope this little episode will get you thinking, and help get the conversation started :)

Episode 10 - Meme Culture: A Quick Analysis

Is this too cringe of a topic? How could the Inside Out gang not help themselves on dedicating at least 10 minutes though, to such a worldwide phenomenon? Growing up, S and A have seen memes ever since they started using the internet. But today they wonder... how did the meme come to be? Were there memes before the internet? And how come Bernie Sanders sitting in a chair has become one of them? In episode 10 of Inside Out, we go over the origins of the meme along with give our thoughts, on how we believe meme culture took form.

Episode 9 - Impact of Social Media on the Storming of the US Capitol

Just six days after the clock struck midnight and welcomed 2021, the United States was preparing to confirm Joe Biden as the president elect. That plan however, would momentarily be put on hold as the US capitol was breached and ransacked. In the latest episode of Inside Out, S and J look at the event through the lens of social media, and the influence it played on all this. In our current time, is social media perhaps the biggest catalyst in spreading extremist ideas?

  5. 8

Episode 8 - 2020, 2021, and the Resolutions in Between

In the last episode of the year, S and F look back on what 2020 entailed and discuss if 2021 might be any better. After all, a new year doesn't immediately cause one's problems from the previous year to vanish. Are we setting our expectations for 2021 too high? Should time simply be considered a continuous loop, endings and new beginnings be damned? As we wrap up the first year of Inside Out on our 8th episode, S and F discuss the concept of new year's resolutions, and along with the rest of the crew, wish everyone stumbling upon this ep. strength for the upcoming year. Thank you for tuning in to our podcast so far!

  6. 7

Episode 7 - Hear Us Out: Elections

It's the year 2020 and election season is just around the corner for the United States... but before the rest of us either sit down with a cup of tea or run for the hills (perhaps with our fellow American friends), let's stop for a moment and think; what really is the big deal with elections? How come many preach on the importance of voting while others barely spare elections a glance? In the 7th episode of Inside Out, an American and Canadian sit down to discuss their local elections, and talk about why voting, in their opinion, might just be a big deal after all.

Episode 6 - A 2000s Kid's Predicament? Growing Up in the Age of Social Media

The technological advancements of the past 2 decades have definitely given us a fair share of blessings AND curses. In the sixth episode of Inside Out, three members of our cast discuss how we felt growing up as 2000s kids: the similarities and differences we feel exist between us and our parents, and what we wish to leave behind for future generations.

  8. 5

Episode 5 - Beirut: The Blast that Shocked the World

In this week's episode of Inside Out, S and D discuss the explosion which took place in Lebanon on August 4th 2020. After an initial wave of media coverage, the world seemed to have moved on. Yet the Lebanese haven't, and many are still struggling from the aftermath of the blast. We at Inside Out stand by Lebanon, and in twelve minutes break down why the blast not only impacted its people, but us on the other side of the world.

  9. 4

    Episode 4 - Recommendations: Anime

A fun fact about the Inside Out crew: most of us grew up with anime, and even now being older this worldwide phenomenon manages to take up our spare time. In this episode D, F and A go over their experiences with anime and try to convince one another to watch their current favourites. Who knows? Perhaps they will make a convincing argument...

  10. 3

Episode 3 - Say her Name: Breonna Taylor

It has been 5 months since the death of Breonna Taylor, yet why have none of her killers been arrested? In another quick episode of Inside Out, we break down the story of what went down in Taylor's apartment that night on March 13, 2020, along with tackle the never-ending question of: What CAN we do to help?

  11. 2

    Episode 2 - A University Student's Predicament: Studying During a Pandemic

In our second episode, we have two members of the Inside Out gang discuss how the covid-19 pandemic has affected their studies, their experience with online school, and if there will ever be a day when school isn't utterly destroying their souls (okay, maybe that last part is a tad over-exaggerated). With most colleges and universities choosing to stay online come fall, this week's episode shows a glimpse of the thoughts and concerns crowding the minds of many students.

  12. 1

Episode 1 - The Uyghurs: A Lost Culture

In this week's episode, we sit down with a member of our group who is Uyghur herself, and listen to what she has to say about the oppression her people are facing. The first step in retaliating against genocide is to educate and raise awareness, which is what we hope to achieve today. This episode will be the first of many in which we tackle the question of "what CAN we do to help?"
