r Saturday, July 21st from 7pm - 9pm at the Makawao Union Church.  This event is being held in memory of Maui's late Tibetan Venerable Lama Dhondup Gyaltsen, a Tibetan monk and cultural leader that was very important to many on Maui and around the world. He was perhaps best known for his Sand Mandala meditations that toured the world. Sadly, Lama Dhondup passed away on May 25th. The evening, entitled "Sounds of Tibet and Universal Love & Compassion" will feature a musical performance by Nawang Khechog, a flute player and composer that is considered by many to be "the global ambassador of Tibetan music", and who lived as a monk for many years under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I do Yoga everyday and have for 40 years. HOWEVER, most people are just doing a small part of what Yoga was really designed for. There are thousands of teacher of Yoga Asanas. According to the first Teacher of Yoga Patanjali Asanas are Motionless and Agreeable form (of staying) is Asana (yoga posture)— Yoga Sutras II.46Asana is a posture that one can hold for a period of time, staying relaxed, steady, comfortable and motionless. Patanjali does not list any specific asana, except the terse suggestion, "posture one can hold with comfort and motionlessness" Āraṇya translates verse II.47 of Yoga sutra as, "asanas are perfected over time by relaxation of effort with meditation on the infinite"; this combination and practice stops the quivering of body.The posture that causes pain or restlessness is not a yogic posture. Other secondary texts studying Patanjali's sutra state that one requirement of correct posture is to keep breast, neck and head erect (proper spinal posture). And when you really grasp within your heart that it is not "real", it will rebel. That is a wonderful thing to move through, because it gives you opportunity after opportunity to re-align your thoughts to those of your truth, and to put ego in it's place - which is nowhere... Then as we grow we begin to fine tune ways to fulfill our needs. This can be based on how our circumstances in life are. Do we have a large family and so need to compete for attention.  Do we have enough love to keep that inner child from rebelling.Do we have seed that are planted in our subconscious mind that will give us self confidence or make us feel fearful.As we grow we find that much of the world is based on how many likes you get on facebook. We see how to manipulate that to be move loved.Our ego loves to be liked. But there is always this higher level of God’ Consciousness where you realize that in reality you are not the separate self but one with the whole.The ego’s role is to not control you, but to be used to understand the bridge between who your personality is and who your truly are. David proclaims, “in your presence there is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Ps 16:11). When we push all our peripheral issues to the periphery, this is all that is left and all that really matters.  Describing the presence of the Spirit is hard to do right. So, it's usually best to stick with what matters most: what the Spirit is doing with us here in this time and place. Christ is the Spirit's message, , and in any case, the Spirit's primary job is to bring us to the Presence. and how does it compare with the Holy Spirit The difference between the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit and God's omnipresence is that God's omnipresence is always there, despite the fact that we cannot always feel it. Dave Mason will Play Saturday night Feb. 10th at the MACC. Dave Mason has loved playing guitar most of his life. He first picked one up when he was 15 and founded two bands: The Deep Feeling, and The Hellions. At age 18, the Worcester, England native teamed up with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood to form the legendary band Traffic whose profound influence over rock music remains unquestioned even today.  At 19, Mason penned the song "Feelin' Alright". First recorded by Traffic, this song has since become a rock and roll anthem and recorded by dozens of artists, including JoeCocker, who had a major hit with the song in 1969.Mason departed from the group after their second album. In 1969. he headed for the USA to pursue a solo career.  A prolific artist, Mason has penned over 100 songs. He struck gold with the album "Alone Together", which is considered a rock classic. This was followed by five albums for CBS/Sony including "Dave Mason" and "Mariposa De Oro", four of which received gold albums. "Let It Flow", which has gone well over platinum, contained the classic "We Just Disagree", a top-ten single! In addition to performing to sold-out audiences, Mason performed on a number of albums such as The Rolling Stones' "Beggars's Banquet", George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass", Paul McCartney's "Listen To What The Man Said" and Jimi Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland". One of the songs from the "Ladyland" album, "All Along the Watchtower", featured Dave playing acoustic guitar. This song, written by Bob Dylan, remains a big favorite in Dave's live show! His solo career is linked with numerous members of rock and roll elite, including Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Rita Coolidge, Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, Ron Wood, Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, and Jim Capaldi. Affirmations for Mystical Christmas I know that the Christ light is alive in me in that I am that I Am Spirit that is presence.
