Inspired to Travel
I was recently scrolling through TikTok and saw a video with a caption that read, “be nice to your parents, remember it is their first time living life too.” This made me think back to my first-ever family vacation…that actually just happened last year. In this episode, I talk about how a trip to California with my family helped me step into their shoes, see and hear firsthand about my dad’s immigration story, and in some way help him heal from his experience. Sometimes in the journey of finding our inner bosses, we can also inspire others, especially those closest to us. Inspired to Come Out
As a Queer Latino who didn’t come out until I was 22 years old, I later understood that in life I would come out again, and again, and again. This is the story of how I was outed in high school, and how I came out to my parents. I recorded this video at the start of Pride month, and at a time in which the Human Rights Campaign had just shared that we are in a “State of Emergency” for Queer Americans. While it is a scary time to be openly a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know it is important for our stories to be heard, and here is mine. Thank you for listening. Inspired to Start
For my first episode, I wanted to share more about my why, what led me to finally begin this show, and how being laid off twice finally gave me the kick I needed to say, let me take control of my life. In those two experiences, some of the questions I thought to myself were, why did I never see myself as a boss? What things professionally and personally scarred me that I didn’t deem myself worthy? What was I holding onto? And what could I let go of? Through a lot of self-discovery, learning to listen to myself in those moments where life just has you at a standstill, and honestly sometimes pushing through even when the weight of your world feels extra heavy…Here I am. And here we are. Thank you for listening and catch you on the next episode. To learn more, follow me on Instagram @ThisisJCali and if you have guests/topic inquiries please email [email protected].

Inspire Your Inner Boss Introduction
What’s holding you back from becoming the boss of your life? My name is Jonathan Calixto, a news reporter, fashion lifestyle editor, red carpet host, marketing maven, and content creator. I’m also a son, brother, guncle, cousin, partner, and friend. Growing up, I accepted every title thrown my way by others, but very rarely did I ever title myself. I lived my life thinking I would always work for someone else but why did I never see myself as a boss? What was missing? Like many of us, life is not just about one path, and Inspire Your Inner Boss the podcast is all about reflecting on mistakes we’ve made, laughing at ourselves, and more importantly, embracing our journey. Along the way I will share some personal stories that have made me learn to lead with intention, and how I continue to overcome generational responsibilities - in my case as the first openly Queer Latino in my family. But I’ll also talk with other influential people as they share what has inspired them, and see how they define being a boss. Because there is a boss in all of us. For more information follow me on Instagram @ThisisJCali and email [email protected] for guests/topics inquiry. .
