Jay Ramone Podcast w/ Dustin from the band "Groucho" ...
In this episode, I am joined by Dustin from the Tulsa band "Groucho". I've known Dustin for 25+ years, through various points in our lives, various bands, artistic or professional projects. Originally, we became friends online through a message board / Music Community, that was all musicians from local Tulsa bands called Tulsa Music Pulse. After a few years of knowing each other & seeing each other at shows, Dustin joined an established Tulsa band that i was a big fan of called "Wreckless Process"... After that Dustin continued to play in various bands over the years, & had talked about the idea of opening a place where bands could develop, rehearse, take lessons, put on their own shows, etc.... That idea with another friend ultimately became whats known as Noise Town in Tulsa, Ok. About 10 years ago, Dustin formed the band "Groucho" & has continuously put out new music & concepts with a creative purpose. I am always happy to be able to throw up some microphones & cameras and talk with Dustin because each time, i learn something new about his musical endeavors that i didnt know. Thank You for listening! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Many of you know Daxton Page from the band Kirra. A few years ago, after a lot of research & implementation in his own band, he decided to help other musicians & launched MusiciansIgnite.com . Since then, Dax has built up a list of clients, working, independent musicians & artists who have taken the leap & decided to seek the information to help get their project to the next level, help grow their fanbase, & make money in the process. There are so many bands, who struggle to make any of their money back, that they have spent on their gear, studio time, creating songs. Dax has created a system that is working for his current clients as well as his own project. He is hosting a 3 day, live event seminar to teach you some of these methods & techniques this weekend in Norman, OK. Jamel Stephens from AFROPOP Soda Company joins The Jay Ramone Podcast
After seeing a review video on social media, from someone who purhcased some AfroPop at an event or Farmers Market, I was intrigued to try an true Oklahoma made soda. Once i saw that video, i immediately went to the internet to find out more about the brand & where I could find some to try for myself. I began following Afro Pop on Instagram & Facebook. A couple of weeks ago, Jamel had posted that their sodas were now on the shelves & available at Pruett's Foods & Uptown Market stores in Oklahoma City. I drove to their locations until i found a store that still had some available on the shelves and made my purhcase, returned to the office & began to share the awesomeness that i had discovered. Needless to say, I reached out to Jamel & invited him to be a guest on my podcast. Jamel is an impressive Oklahoman with vision & drive. What started as him figuring it out, making soda's in his kitchen, has turned into Afro Pop Soda Company. Today, they have launched pre-orders, to be shipped directly to consumers. Brian Parton on The Jay Ramone Podcast
I have been a fan of Brian Parton since the late 90's when he was playing with his band Brian Parton & The Nashville Rebels. They were rockabilly at its finest. After the Nashville Rebels disbanded, Brian relocated to Colorado where he pursued his music endeavors as a singer-songwriter but his show was much more than that. I always felt like his solo acoustic shows were a lot like the old variety shows which included a little music & a little comedy as well. Brian is an incredible artist. Dustin from the band Groucho joins the Jay Ramone Podcast
Episode 25... I am joined by longtime friend Dustin from the band "Groucho"... Dustin is also partners in a rehearsal facility & recording facility in Tulsa called "Noise Town"... Groucho recently worked on an EP w/ Trent Bell of The Chainsaw Kittens at his studio in Bell Labs in Norman, OK. Forgive me, I got excited seeing Dustin for the first time in several years, & referenced a cover they just released of INXS "Never Tear Us Apart" & i said Tears For Fears.... epic fail hahahaha. We discuss Groucho, Noise Town, as well as Dustin's previous bands & playing with Nothing More in OKC back in the day at Rock Theater off S. 89th... Full circle moment, I met Dustin when he was maybe 18 years old, playing in bands... He's now recording the band "The Belvidere" who's singer is roughly the same age, & the son of my old college roomate & bandmate decades ago... See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
