Jessi Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast
by Jessi Morgan
Jessi Morgan in 2023 had a traumatic experience that shaped how she views life and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has laid it on her heart to share her experiences and inspire others to put God first in every aspect of their life like she finally did in hers. Having her daughter born 4 months early really made Jessi lean on the Lord for comfort and guidance. And today she stands here starting her own 10-15 minute podcast focusing on weekly devotionals about what God can do for you and what He's done for her.

You have Strength & God sends Warriors
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…David is back on the throne and the rebellions are over but something surprising happens in 2 Samuel 21: the warrior-king gets exhausted. That single line stopped me, because it tells the truth we often hide. Even faithful people get tired. Even strong people hit a moment where they cannot keep swinging the sword, and that is exactly where God can step in with provision that looks like a person. We walk through 2 Samuel 21 to 23 and trace a clear pattern: strength, weakness, and the community God builds around us. I talk through David’s rescue by Abishai and what it teaches us about asking for help without shame. Then we shift into 2 Samuel 22, where David praises God with a song that mirrors Psalm 18 and I share what it looks like to worship through a hard week filled with parenting stress, work change, and financial pressure. The goal is not to pretend life is easy, but to notice where God is still moving while life feels heavy. If you feel weak right now, I hope this devotional helps you see your support system as God’s kindness, and nudges you to praise Him anyway. If this encouraged you, please subscribe, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review so more people can find these weekly Christian devotions.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Figuring it out through the chaos with God
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Chaos has a way of showing up in waves. You survive the big blow up, you catch your breath, and then another problem slides in like it never got the memo that you’re exhausted. That’s where we are in the life of David as we move through 2 Samuel 20 and 21: Absalom’s rebellion is over, David is back on the throne, and yet the kingdom is still cracked with division, distrust, and fresh tension. We talk through two different kinds of crisis and what they require from us as Christians. First comes the loud kind: Sheba stirs up another rebellion, Joab rushes toward destruction, and a wise woman steps in with calm questions and a clear solution. That moment becomes a picture of biblical wisdom in real life, the kind that pauses before reacting, lowers the volume, and protects people from unnecessary damage. If you’ve been trying to manage symptoms instead of addressing the root, this devotional will meet you right there with practical faith and hope. You Can Be Loved...and Still Be the Disappointment
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Love can stay even when trust breaks, and that truth can feel both comforting and unsettling. We’re walking through 2 Samuel 18–19, where David faces the unthinkable: his son Absalom turns on him, a civil war splits Israel, and the fight to preserve the kingdom ends with a loss that crushes David’s heart. The line that won’t let go is David’s plea to his men, “Deal gently with my son Absalom,” a glimpse into a father’s love even in betrayal and rebellion. We also get honest about what it feels like to be the disappointment. I share a personal story from college that still convicts me, because you can have reasons, plans, and excuses and still leave someone hurting. This devotional invites real reflection: who have we disappointed and never fully acknowledged? And who has disappointed us where love feels complicated now?Subscribe for weekly Christian devotionals, share this with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review to help more hearts find it.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. When Everything Falls Apart
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Everything can look fine on the outside while your world is collapsing on the inside, relationships shift, plans fail, and you feel like you’re just trying to stay afloat. I’m opening 2 Samuel 15 through 17 and sitting in the heaviest part of David’s story, when his own son Absalom turns on him and David has to flee Jerusalem. This isn’t David in victory. This is David in consequence, and it’s exactly why his response matters so much. We talk about the difference between random hardship and the aftermath of what we’ve practiced, and why God’s forgiveness doesn’t always erase the walk through what comes after. Then 2 Samuel 17 shows the hidden hand of God, when the best plan to destroy David gets frustrated behind the scenes. And because this lands on Easter, we end with the biggest hope of all: David lives with consequences of sin, but Jesus takes the consequences for ours. If your life feels like it’s falling apart, let this be your reminder that God is still moving. It Looked Fixed...But It Wasn't Healed
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Some relationships don’t break with a bang. They break with silence, polite distance, and the quiet agreement to “move on” without ever telling the truth. That’s the ache behind 2 Samuel 14 and 15, where David lets Absalom return home, yet keeps him from his presence. Everything looks settled from the outside, but nothing is healed underneath and the consequences don’t stay small for long. I connect David and Absalom’s story to a real-life moment many of us recognize: a relationship that seems repaired because the tension eases, but the root never gets named. We talk about why a warm moment isn’t the same as reconciliation, how bitterness grows where truth is avoided, and what “partial restoration” can cost over time. If you’ve ever been close to someone in proximity but far in connection, this devotional is for you. If you’re craving real healing in relationships, Christian encouragement, and a Bible-based devotional on forgiveness, reconciliation, and discernment, press play. Drafts We Shouldn’t Send
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Some messages feel good to write and dangerous to send. Today we’re sitting in one of the hardest chapters in the life of David: 2 Samuel 13, where lust pretends to be love, leadership goes silent, and revenge waits patiently for the right moment. It’s heavy Scripture, but it’s also a clear warning about what happens when sin is hidden, excused, or left unaddressed until it explodes. My prayer is that you leave with practical Christian encouragement to repent quickly, confront sin with courage, release old grudges, and break generational cycles in your family. If this helped you, subscribe for weekly devotionals, share it with someone who needs hope, and leave a review so more hearts can find these messages.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. When God Says No to Your Prayer
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the prayer you want most answered yes is the very one God uses to teach you wisdom when the answer is no? We open with a raw story from a high school track season: a late-night choice, a rain-soaked regional, a narrow win, and then a state final where adrenaline met exhaustion and a heartfelt plea went unanswered. That personal twist sets the table for a deeper journey into 2 Samuel 12, where David’s hidden sin, Nathan’s piercing parable, and a heartbreaking loss reveal why forgiveness and consequences can stand side by side under God’s mercy.Along the way, we examine how our choices set outcomes in motion, why prayer isn’t a shortcut around reality, and how God’s kindness often arrives as wisdom that reshapes the next decision rather than erases the last one.If this message helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. The Ripple Effect of Sin
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A king stays home, a glance becomes a secret, and a secret explodes into heartbreak. We walk through 2 Samuel 11 with clear eyes, tracing how David’s small drift sets off a chain of temptation, adultery, deception, and murder. Along the way, we slow down on Bathsheba’s story and honor the reality of power, vulnerability, and the collateral damage that falls hardest on those with the least agency. Uriah’s integrity, David’s spiral, and the nation’s wounds become a mirror for our own choices and the people who get caught in our wake.We ask hard, practical questions: Are you where you are supposed to be, or lingering near temptation? Are you covering what needs confession? Are you underestimating who gets hurt when you hide? Be open to asking God for forgiveness after your initial sin before it turns into a terrible ripple effect. If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend, subscribe for weekly devotionals, and leave a review to help more listeners find hope.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Assumptions Create Wars
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A simple act of kindness gets misread, and a war erupts. We open 2 Samuel 10 and watch David extend honor to Hanan, only for fear and bad counsel to twist his motives and humiliate his envoys. From there, we connect the ancient narrative to the everyday moments where our own assumptions ignite conflict in group chats, hallways, family tables and explore how wisdom, patience, and careful words can keep small sparks from becoming bonfires.Along the way, we share a personal story of friendship strain during prom season and the sting of being misrepresented in public. Together they offer a practical roadmap: ask clarifying questions, protect dignity, and let your tongue move at the speed of wisdom, not adrenaline. If this encouraged you, share it with a friend who needs the same reminder, then subscribe and leave a quick review so more people can find these weekly devotions. Kindness That God Remembers
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Power reveals character, but kindness reveals covenant. We continue our study of David at a pivotal moment in 2 Samuel 8–9, when the shepherd-king finally stands secure and chooses mercy over vengeance. Rather than closing ranks, David asks if anyone remains from Saul’s house to bless for Jonathan’s sake, an act that restores Mephibosheth’s inheritance and seats him at the king’s table. That decision reframes leadership as service and shows how loyal love can outlast trauma, rivalry, and time.We share a personal family story that mirrors this arc: years of small, faithful kindness bearing unexpected fruit when medical bills surged and help felt out of reach.Walk with us through the textures of covenant friendship, the cost of mercy, and the quiet power of promises kept. If you’ve wondered whether unseen kindness matters, this conversation will steady your hope and nudge you toward action that dignifies others and honors God.If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs a reminder that kindness is never wasted, then subscribe and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Good Intentions can be a Mistake
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the right goal done the wrong way keeps stealing your joy? We unpack a gentle but firm truth: good intentions don’t replace a faithful process. Through a relatable home story and a timeless moment from 2 Samuel 6–7, we explore how rushing, skipping counsel, or copying what seems to “work” can derail even the holiest desires and how aligning our methods with God’s word restores peace. We start with a small domestic decision that spiraled: a leaning guest bed, well-meaning help, and a room turned upside down. That simple misstep becomes a mirror for our own habits of acting first and asking later. From there, we move into the story of King David bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. This conversation is for anyone who wants a faith that is steady, not hurried. We talk about choosing counsel over impulse, Scripture over convenience, and patience over shortcuts. You’ll walk away with a simple framework for decisions big and small: ask, align, obey, then rejoice. If this message strengthens your heart, share it with a friend, subscribe for weekly devotionals, and leave a quick review so others can find hope here too.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Establishing your Fortress
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Some walls look unbreakable until God walks through them. We journey from the stark integrity of 2 Samuel 4 to the stunning capture of Jerusalem in 2 Samuel 5, then bring it home literally through a vulnerable story about renovation setbacks, insurance woes, and the moment a beloved house revealed it could never be our fortress. It’s a candid look at how trust gets rebuilt when the floors creak and the heart aches. We explore why Jerusalem mattered far beyond geography. The city didn’t begin as Israel’s possession; it stood apart, fortified and defiant, until God used David to claim it as a unifying center for worship and, generations later, the place where Jesus would lay down his life. That arc reframes security: strength isn’t in stone, it’s in presence. Along the way, we name the practical questions listeners face: How do you lead without compromising when compromise looks efficient? What do you do when your “safe place” feels fragile? How can a city God claims become a pattern for a life God steadies? We offer honest encouragement for heavy weeks and a prayer that turns anxiety into a renewed center. If you’re carrying a burden, this conversation gives language, Scripture, and quiet courage to keep going with a truer shelter over your head.If this message lifted you, share it with a friend who needs the same reminder, hit follow so you never miss a weekly devotional, and leave a review to help others find these conversations.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Visible Integrity In A Broken World
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A kingdom on edge, a leader under pressure, and a moment where integrity costs something real. We walk through 2 Samuel 2–3 and the turning point that follows Abner’s murder, not as a distant saga but as a mirror for our choices today. David could have kept quiet and benefited. Instead, he mourned publicly, fasted, condemned the act, and made his allegiance to justice unmistakable. That visible integrity shaped how a fractured people saw his heart and helped unite a divided nation.Along the way, we connect this ancient story to a family account from a military base in the 1950s, when a brazen attack was followed by a partner’s silence. The lesson is sharp: silence in the face of obvious wrong does not keep us neutral; it signals consent. Expect practical takeaways on cultivating visible integrity: discerning when proximity looks like approval, practicing honest lament, and choosing courage over convenience. All you had to do was tell the truth
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Continuing our story of David.A single lie, told at the worst possible moment, can change everything. We open the new year by returning to David’s story at a pivotal scene: Saul has fallen, grief hangs in the air, and an Amalekite arrives with a crown and a tale he thinks will earn him favor. David’s response is swift and sobering, not because of politics but because of reverence for the Lord’s anointed. The lesson lands hard: shortcuts that betray truth don’t just fail; they undo us.We talk about how deception multiplies consequences, drains trust, and erodes teams, while integrity though costly up front, creates safety, clarity, and consistent leadership. If you’re navigating pressure, tempted to spin the story, or weary from waiting, this conversation offers a clear path to tell the truth, guard your witness, and praise before the provision arrives. If this resonated, tap follow, share it with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a quick review so more listeners can find the message.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. The Why Behind Christmas - Day 24
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the heart of Christmas is not nostalgia but rescue? On the day before Christmas, we pause the rush and sit with John 3:16–17 to ask a deeper question: why did God choose this moment, and why arrive in such a humble way? We walk through Bethlehem with Mary and Joseph, then trace four simple words that carry the weight of the gospel: love, gift, promise, and judgment, discovering how each one reframes the season and speaks to our real lives. This reflection is part of a 25‑day Christmas devotional journey that pairs each written entry with a short, thoughtful audio companion. If you’ve been feeling the pressure of the season, let this time of Scripture and prayer steady your heart and remind you why joy at Christmas is both honest and enduring. We close with a simple prayer and a clear path forward: praise God for his love, receive the greatest gift, cling to the promise, and walk in mercy. If this encouraged you, subscribe to stay with us through the rest of the series, share it with a friend who needs hope today, and leave a review to help others find these reflections. What in the Spice? - Day 23
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A star rises over Bethlehem, scholars cross deserts, and three gifts speak louder than words. We trace the Magi’s path in Matthew 2:1–12 and discover how God leads people through the passions they already hold—then layers those passions with meaning, worship, and mission. I share a simple kitchen story about moving from salt-and-pepper meals to richly seasoned dishes, and how that shift mirrors what happens when Jesus seasons our ordinary work and creativity with purpose. We look closely at the symbolism of the gifts. From there, the conversation turns practical. How does God meet you in your craft—art, teaching, leadership, caregiving, entrepreneurship—and guide you by a “star” you can recognize? What sits on your personal spice rack that He wants to use to point others to Jesus? If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review so more listeners can find these Advent reflections. Sense of Urgency for Jesus - Day 22
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A midnight sky splits with angelic news, and ordinary shepherds make an extraordinary choice: they hurry. We trace that swift move from field to manger and ask what it means for our faith today, how urgency, obedience, and simple testimony can turn Christmas from sentiment into mission. We start with Luke 2:15–20, reading the moment the shepherds decide to go, see, and then tell. Their response is a masterclass in practical discipleship: no status, no script, just a clear encounter with Jesus and the courage to share it. You’ll hear a simple framework to practice during the Christmas season: hurry to Jesus in prayer, hurry to people in kindness, and speak plainly about what you’ve seen God do. If this message stirs you, subscribe for daily reflections through Christmas, share this episode with someone who needs encouragement, and leave a review so others can find the good news.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Are you in VIP? - Day 21
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the first people to hear the greatest news in history weren’t the powerful or the polished, but night-shift laborers with calloused hands and dusty clothes? We step into Luke 2:8–14 and discover why heaven’s choir appeared to shepherds first, and how that choice overturns our assumptions about worth, access, and belonging. No velvet rope. No cover charge. Just an open invitation to joy and peace that meets us exactly where we are.We share a candid story about chasing VIP status and the moment the illusion cracked, revealing how easily image becomes a gatekeeper. That experience becomes a mirror for the Christmas story: God bypassed social rank to reach people who had nothing to prove and nothing to polish. Government, Census & The Birth - Day 20
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the most ordinary directive in your life is the doorway to God’s perfect timing? We open Luke 2:1–7 and watch a census from Caesar Augustus reroute Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, landing them in the exact place Micah promised the Messiah would be born. We explore the unity of Scripture by placing this quiet moment beside another census: David’s pride-fueled count in 2 Samuel 24 that brought heavy consequences. That contrast reveals how motives matter and how obedience especially when it looks inconvenient positions us for grace. As we near Christmas, this reflection invites you to look again at the detours in your own story. Where might obedience in the ordinary be the very road to promise? Listen for encouragement rooted in Scripture, a prayer for alignment with God’s timing, and practical hope for the season. If this spoke to you, subscribe for the rest of the Christmas devotional series, share the episode with a friend who needs a nudge of courage, and leave a review so more listeners can find these reflections.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Comfort Before The Manger - Day 19
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Comfort arrives before the crib ever does. We open Isaiah 40:1–5 and find God’s first word to a weary world: comfort. From there, we trace the highway imagery through the wilderness, valleys raised, mountains lowered and see how this ancient promise becomes a practical guide for the Advent season. I share why preparation is not performance but consent to God’s work. If your heart feels like a wilderness, this reflection offers a steady path toward hope. Jesus is the Word - Day 18
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Before the shepherds, songs, and starlight, there was the Word eternal, creative, and unstoppable. We open John 1:1-5 and find Christmas rooted in God’s first and final declaration: Jesus is the Word who was with God, is God, and brings life and light no darkness can overcome. As we walk through the prologue of John, we explore how Jesus fulfills God’s long-standing declarations and why that changes the way we mark the season. The manger isn’t just a sweet scene; it’s the unveiling of God’s faithfulness across generations. When your voice comes back - Day 17
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the quiet season you’re dreading is the very path to a stronger voice and a clearer faith? Today we sit with Zechariah’s journey in Luke 1:67–79 and discover how God uses silence to shape conviction, align our hearts, and prepare us to speak life with purpose. This is Day 17 of our 25-day Christmas devotional series, where we slow down, reflect deeply, and let the story of Jesus’ birth reset our focus. We walk through Zechariah’s enforced silence and the moment his words return not as complaint, but as praise and prophecy. As we prepare for Christmas, we focus on clarity. Jesus is the sunrise that breaks the darkness, guiding our feet into the path of peace. When its Quiet, Day 16
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Ever notice how the loudest seasons can still feel empty? We lean into a quieter path by tracing the birth of John the Baptist in Luke 1:57–66, where a silenced father, a surprising name, and a community’s awe reveal how God grows faith away from the noise. I share why Zechariah’s months without words weren’t punishment but protection, a sacred hush that stripped out second-guessing and made space for trust to deepen. As we prepare our hearts for Christ, John’s birth reminds us that God’s timing is precise, His mercy personal, and His peace best heard when the volume drops. We open Luke 1:46–56 and sit with Mary's song, noticing how she lifts her voice in worship while life still feels uncertain. You’ll hear a simple way to build a personal song of praise this season: read Mary’s words aloud, choose one attribute of God to celebrate, and thank Him in advance for the grace you need. You Are Not Alone Day 14
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A quiet visit in the hills of Judah turns into a burst of joy, and that same spark is meant for us. We revisit Mary’s visit to Elizabeth in Luke 1:39–45 and draw out a timeless truth: God often answers our fear with fellowship, pairing our seasons so we don’t carry them alone. When Elizabeth hears Mary’s greeting and the child within her leaps, the room fills with the Holy Spirit and a holy kind of reassurance. Courage rises when companionship appears. As we keep walking through the Christmas devotional series, this reflection sets the tone for a more personal and peaceful approach to the story of Jesus’ birth, one marked by companionship, intentional timing, and a God who meets us through His people.Subscribe to follow the full 25-day journey, share this episode with someone who needs a reminder that they’re not alone, and leave a review to help others find these reflections. Joseph’s Faith Over Fear Day 13
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A quiet yes can change everything. Joseph’s story in Matthew 1:18–25 unfolds like a whispered revolution: a man caught between heartbreak and honor chooses mercy, hears God in a dream, and steps into a calling that will cost him reputation but lead him into redemption’s center. We walk through the text and the turning points his plan to shield Mary from shame, the angel’s charge to take her as his wife, and the charged act of naming the child Jesus seeing how each decision forms a blueprint for faith that moves even when the outcome is unknown. We talk about obedience that looks ordinary from the outside but is fierce at the core. Joseph protects Mary, waits with restraint, and bears responsibility for a child he did not conceive, modeling spiritual fatherhood and integrity. The theme is simple and hard: faith over fear, compassion over optics, courage over control. As we prepare our hearts for Christmas, this reflection invites you to slow down and let Joseph’s life challenge your next step. Where do you need to choose mercy instead of judgment? What responsibility is God asking you to carry with courage? Spend a few minutes with this short devotional, pray with us at the end, and ask God for a steady heart that obeys. I am Your Servant Day 12
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A single sentence can steady a shaking heart. When Mary says, “I am the Lord’s servant,” she offers more than a quote; she models a way to live when life turns unfamiliar. We open Luke 1:26–38 and trace the moment fear and favor meet, watching how God pairs a daunting call with a deep comfort and how surrender becomes the doorway to peace. We walk through the text with care: Gabriel’s greeting, Mary’s honest question, and the promise that the Holy Spirit will overshadow what feels impossible. You’ll leave with simple, grounded practices for the week. Ask how to live as God’s servant today. If this reflection encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who’s waiting on God, and leave a review so others can find these Christmas devotionals. Heralds Of Christmas Grace - Day 11
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Day #11 The countdown to Christmas can blur into noise, but the story of John the Baptist cuts through with a clear, urgent melody: prepare the way for the King. We dive into Luke 1:5–25 to trace the miracle behind John’s birth, the meaning of his name, and the mission that shaped his life—and ours. More than a historical prelude, John’s calling becomes a template for modern faith: announce the good news, prepare hearts with grace, and point every gaze toward Jesus.Subscribe for daily, 8–10 minute reflections from our 25-day Christmas devotional, share this episode with someone who needs hope today, and leave a review to help others find these Advent reminders.Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Dead & Rock Bottom
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Some moments knock the wind out of you. Others ask what you’ll reach for next. We close the book of 1 Samuel with a raw look at rock bottom, Saul’s fear driving him to a forbidden medium, David’s home in ashes at Ziklag, and a personal heartbreak that rewired faith in the quiet aftermath.I walk through Saul’s final spiral, where years of wanting answers without relationship end in a desperate gamble for spiritual shortcuts. We unpack why Scripture forbids consulting the dead, how God interrupts the scene with Samuel’s message, and what it means to desire relief more than repentance. The takeaway isn’t superstition; it’s a sober reminder that the spiritual world is real and that shortcuts cost more than we expect. Then we pivot to David’s collapse and comeback. Alongside the text, I share a college heartbreak that left me unraveling—and how prayer, closure, and surrender set a new course toward the marriage, family, and calling I carry today. If you’re standing at your own lowest point, this conversation offers more than comfort. It offers a choice: spiral inward like Saul or turn Godward like David. Expect practical reflection, honest storytelling, and a clear path to take the next step in faith. Reaction, Restraint, And Retreat
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…When anger flares, opportunity knocks, and fear whispers an easy out, which voice wins? We follow David through three defining pivots—reaction to insult, restraint under pressure, and retreat into a counterfeit refuge—and uncover how God meets us at each turn. The story begins with Nabal’s contempt and Abigail’s brave, wise intervention that cools David’s rage, then moves into a midnight scene where David spares Saul again, choosing a clean conscience over a quick crown. Finally, the tone shifts as David crosses into Philistine territory, stops asking God, and starts surviving by instinct. It’s honest, uncomfortable, and deeply human.Along the way, we connect Scripture to real life with a candid look at how our inputs shape our inner world. If this journey through 1 Samuel 25–27 helps you spot your own reaction, restraint, or retreat season, share it with someone who needs the same clarity and hope. Mercy Over Revenge
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Mercy isn’t the soft option; it’s the stronger road that trusts God with justice. We journey through 1 Samuel 23–24 as David saves Keilah while on the run and then stands in the cave with the power to end Saul’s pursuit—only to choose restraint. That choice reframes what strength looks like: not seizing control, but honoring God’s timing. Along the way, I share a relay-race decision that traded a personal title for a team victory and a raw story of a $14,000 betrayal by a long-time friend, where we chose to protect a fragile family rather than go public. Each story pulls the same thread: service over self, mercy over revenge, trust over fear.If you’re wrestling with a fresh wound, this conversation offers a path forward that guards your heart and honors God. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of courageous restraint, the freedom of letting go, and a renewed confidence that God sees, knows, and settles the books. Faith Over Fear, David On The Run
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What if the safer choice is the one that slowly starves your calling? We follow David into 1 Samuel 21–22, where a single panic-driven lie cascades into heartbreak, and we hold that mirror up to modern life: money worries, career pivots, student loans, and the quiet ways fear keeps us stuck. I open up about shelving a tidy side business, facing down the “you’re too late” script, and choosing the vulnerable path that actually aligns with the gifts God has made obvious over time.Together, we trace the anatomy of fear: how urgency silences prayer, how control masquerades as wisdom, and how survival mode can feel righteous while robbing us of obedience. Then we map the other road. We talk about practical faith—praying before planning, naming concrete next steps, and acting on gentle confirmations that often arrive through mentors, friends, and surprising conversations. If you’re weighing a leap, this conversation offers clear takeaways: fear feels safer, but faith unlocks provision already waiting down the path. Expect thoughtful scripture insight, real-world examples about debt and credentials, and a prayer to ground your courage. The Covenant of Love: What True Friendship Looks Like
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…A spear on the wall, a vow in the field, and a choice that costs a kingdom—Jonathan and David’s story shows what real friendship looks like when it hurts. We walk through 1 Samuel 19–20 and unpack why covenant love isn’t about romance or convenience; it is about loyalty, sacrifice, and trust before God. Along the way, I share a hard lesson from a past relationship, the maturing of my marriage as we built on Scripture, and the small, faithful ways friends show up when life falls apart. We dig into Saul’s jealousy and how it tests allegiance, then trace the covenant that binds Jonathan and David beyond emotion. By the end, you’ll have reflection questions to examine your circle, your marriage, and your patterns of giving and receiving help. Expect a heart check on whether your friendships guard each other’s calling, how to anchor commitments in prayer, and what sacrifices make love visible. When Jealously Steals Your Joy: Spirit of Comparision
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…One line of praise changed a kingdom and a heart. When the crowds sang “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands,” a seed of envy took root that reshaped relationships, decisions, and peace. We explore that pivotal moment from 1 Samuel 17–18 and follow its echoes into our own lives, where comparison can sneak in through metrics, milestones, or a casual scroll and quietly drain our joy.I share a personal story from my early retail days....two managers, one chaotic floor, and thousands of markdowns before a high-stakes corporate visit, where excellence and perseverance spoke louder than whispers. David & Goliath: Tormenting Spirit & God's Shield
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…The tale of David and Goliath might be familiar, but have you ever considered what it truly reveals about facing impossible battles in your own life? Jessi Morgan takes us deep into this ancient showdown, uncovering five surprising observations that transform how we understand this iconic biblical moment.Starting with a vulnerable story from her own childhood—when a classmate unexpectedly stood between her and a cruel bully—Jessi draws a powerful parallel to how God provides protection just when we need it most. She explores the fascinating spiritual dynamics surrounding Saul and David, comparing the tormenting spirit that troubled Saul with the modern experience of anxiety, stress, and depression that can plague us when we disconnect from God's presence.Whether you're battling relationship struggles, career obstacles, health challenges, or personal fears, this devotional offers a fresh perspective on how God prepares us for difficult moments and stands with us through them. Rejection is a Blessing
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Have you ever looked back at a painful rejection and realized it was actually the best thing that could have happened to you? That crushing "no" or deafening silence that once felt like failure was actually divine protection? This week, we dive into the biblical story of Saul and David from 1 Samuel 15-16, exploring how God's rejection of Saul as king wasn't just punishment, but protection for Israel. When Saul selectively obeyed God's command regarding the Amalekites – keeping the best livestock while destroying the rest – he revealed a fundamental character flaw. His partial obedience exposed a heart that chose convenience over commitment, leading to his rejection and David's anointing.I share my personal journey through three pivotal career rejections that once crushed me. Had any of those doors opened, I would have been locked into inflexible career paths. The message becomes clear: God's rejections are often His redirections. When He closes a door, it's not to hurt us but to guide us toward His better plan.Share this episode with someone struggling with rejection, and connect with me on Instagram or TikTok @jessimorganfaith to continue the conversation. Faith like Jonathan vs Pride like Saul
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…What happens when faith collides with pride on the battlefield? In this eye-opening devotional, we dive deep into 1 Samuel 14, where two contrasting approaches to crisis emerge through a father and son.The contrast couldn't be clearer: Jonathan moves in selfless faith while Saul operates from selfish pride. I share a personal story from my high school track days about a coach whose rigid, illogical "preparation plan" mirrors Saul's counterproductive oath—both ended in frustration and were ultimately washed away.Which approach characterizes your life? Lied To, Yet Led by God
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Have you ever found yourself somewhere you never planned to be, only to discover it was exactly where you needed to be all along? That's the powerful theme of this week's devotional as we explore "Lied to, yet Led by God" through 1 Samuel 9-10.I share my personal journey of moving to New York City for what I thought was a position in women's ready-to-wear at Macy's Herald Square, only to discover I'd been misled and placed in intimate apparel instead. The frustration and disappointment I felt mirrors something many of us experience – that moment when life takes an unexpected turn that feels wrong. This parallels beautifully with Saul's story in Scripture. He wasn't searching for a kingdom; he was just looking for his father's lost donkeys. But God used this mundane task to lead him directly to Samuel, who would anoint him as Israel's first king. Despite feeling unqualified and even hiding when the time came for his public appointment, Saul was exactly where God intended him to be.God's sovereignty works like this in our lives too. What looks like being overlooked, misled, or placed in the wrong position might actually be divine positioning. Every twist in your journey serves a purpose in God's greater plan. Have you experienced a situation where what initially seemed negative ultimately led to something beautiful? I'd love to hear your story. A Hard Decision That Was Worth it
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Difficult decisions—we all face them, but how do we know when the painful choice is actually the right one? In this thought-provoking devotional, I share a personal story from my management days at Macy's flagship store in New York that taught me something profound about leadership and sacrifice. When my team faced dangerous working conditions in a sweltering sub-basement stockroom, I had to choose between preserving my spotless record or fighting for their wellbeing. Samuel's leadership journey mirrors this tension perfectly. After successfully restoring Israel's relationship with God and defeating the Philistines, Samuel faces heartbreak when the people reject divine leadership in favor of a human king. God's response is stunning: "It is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king." Yet even in this painful moment, God allowed a decision He knew would bring suffering. The parallels are unmistakable. Sometimes what appears to be a setback or loss becomes the very pathway to our greatest blessing. As Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Whether you're facing a difficult workplace decision, family challenge, or spiritual crossroads, this devotional will encourage you to trust God's perfect perspective, even when the right choice comes with a personal cost. Listen now and discover how God uses our hardest moments to bring about His perfect plan.Key Passages:Proverbs 3:5-61 Samuel 7-8Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. You Switched it up, Now What?
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Have you ever trained meticulously for something, perfected every detail, only to have someone switch things up right before the critical moment? That frustrating experience from my high school track days unexpectedly became the perfect analogy for understanding Israel's disastrous mistake in 1 Samuel 4-6.This week's devotional explores what happens when we abandon systems that work in favor of spiritual shortcuts. Israel made a similar error when facing the Philistines. Rather than seeking God's guidance through prayer and repentance, they simply grabbed the Ark of the Covenant. This devotional challenges us to examine our own lives: Are we replacing relationship with routine? Are we carrying symbols of faith without actually walking with God? Are we trying to "switch up" God's perfect system with our own flawed strategies? Stop Pressing the Cable Box Button
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…The heartbreaking legacy of Eli reveals a warning for all believers. Despite his prestigious position as Israel's high priest and Samuel's mentor, Eli's life ended in tragedy—not because he failed to recognize his sons' wickedness, but because he never moved beyond words to action.Drawing from 1 Samuel 2-4, I unpack how Eli's passive parenting style allowed his sons to desecrate the tabernacle through theft, bribery, and sexual immorality. When confronted with their sin, Eli merely offered verbal rebukes without consequences, ultimately leading to God's judgment against his entire household. This Biblical account resonated powerfully with my own parenting journey. The spiritual implications are profound. We often recognize sin in our lives or others', but stop short of taking corrective action. Whether we're parents, leaders, or simply managing our personal faith journey, God calls us beyond acknowledgment to decisive response. Faith in a Barren Season
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Have you ever felt stuck in a barren season of life? That feeling of being fruitless when you expected growth and progress? You're not alone. This week, we dive into the powerful opening chapters of 1 Samuel, focusing on Hannah's extraordinary story. After years of childlessness and cruel mockery from her husband's second wife, Hannah pours out her heart to God in desperate prayer, promising to dedicate her son to His service if He would answer her plea. When God blesses her with Samuel, she follows through on her vow in an act of sacrificial faith that few of us could imagine—giving back the very blessing she had longed for. What makes Hannah's story so compelling isn't just her sacrifice, but how God honored her faithfulness. I share my own recent struggles with feeling spiritually and creatively barren despite outward success. Through tears and late-night prayers, God reminded me that these desert seasons often precede periods of unexpected growth and new direction. If you're navigating your own barren season right now, don't let it define you. Like Hannah, bring your broken heart directly to God, trust His timing, and be willing to give back whatever blessings He provides. Subscribe now to join me on this awesome study of 1 Samuel. That's exactly what the final chapters of Judges feel like—a society in complete moral freefall. Diving into Judges 17-21, we confront some of the Bible's most disturbing passages—stories filled with idol worship, sexual violence, tribal warfare, and moral chaos. These chapters repeat a haunting refrain: "In those days Israel had no king, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes." For the first time in the book, God doesn't raise up a judge to deliver His people. It's as if He steps back to let them experience the full consequences of abandoning His ways.I draw an unexpected parallel with Disney's The Lion King, comparing Israel's deterioration to Scar's disastrous reign over Pride Rock. This devotional doesn't shy away from difficult truths but points toward hope on the horizon. The chaos at Judges' conclusion sets the stage for Ruth and Samuel, eventually leading to King David and ultimately to Jesus Christ. Sometimes God allows things to fall apart so we can recognize our desperate need for Him. No matter how dark things get, grace offers a way forward. Won't you join me next week as we begin our journey through Samuel, where we'll witness God's preparation for bringing the King who changes everything?Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Watch for the Red Flags
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Red flags appear in our lives for a reason—yet how often do we charge past them? In this powerful conclusion to Samson's story, we witness how one of the Bible's strongest men became undone by ignoring clear warning signs in his relationship with Delilah. Samson's tale serves as a sobering reminder that even God-anointed strength can be compromised when we entertain toxic relationships. Despite Delilah attempting to betray him three separate times, Samson remained with her, eventually sharing the secret of his strength that would lead to his capture, blinding, and imprisonment. I share my own experience with a relationship where financial selfishness created a clear pattern of behavior. Despite knowing better, I gave second chances only to face the same disappointment. The most powerful takeaway? Satan studies your strengths just as the Philistines studied Samson's. Protect what God has given you—your talents, your peace, your purpose—by recognizing the writing on the wall when it appears. When Anger Fuels Your Purpose: Samson Part 2
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Have you ever wondered if God can use your flaws—even your anger—for His divine purpose? In this soul-stirring episode, we dive deep into the wild and often misunderstood story of Samson from Judges 14-15, discovering how God works through imperfect vessels.Samson's journey parallels this truth in extraordinary ways. We explore how this flawed hero—impulsive, vengeful, and often reckless—became God's chosen instrument for Israel's deliverance. From his attraction to a Philistine woman (which Scripture explicitly says was "from the Lord") to his vengeful destruction of enemy fields and his jaw-dropping victory with a donkey's jawbone, Samson's story reveals profound spiritual lessons for today's believers.Join me in this powerful exploration of how God works through our weaknesses, transforms our shortcomings, and uses even our anger to fulfill His greater purpose. Your imperfections don't disqualify you from God's plan—they might just be the very things He uses most powerfully.Key Passages Judges 14 & 15Click Here for Devotional LinkDownload Birth of Jesus E-book Here - Scroll and download Follow me on Substack for application questions & reflection on each episode. Why are you bargaining with God?
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Bargaining with God is a subtle trap many Christians fall into without recognizing its implications for our faith journey. Through the story of Jephthah in Judges 11-12, we discover how unnecessary vows and conditional prayers reveal our struggle to fully trust God's character and goodness. This powerful biblical account mirrors our own tendency to negotiate with God rather than trust Him completely. When we pray, "Lord, if you just do this, I'll do that," we're placing limitations on what God can accomplish through our conditional faith. The victory is already in motion not because of any deal we might strike, but because of who God is.Have you found yourself trying to make deals with God? When You Abandon God
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…Abandoning God is easier than we'd like to admit. In this raw, vulnerable episode, I share a deeply personal struggle from the past week when overwhelming stress, financial challenges, and parenting responsibilities led me to temporarily walk away from the very source of my peace. It's a pattern I've repeated—much like ancient Israel in Judges 10, who enjoyed forty-plus years of peace under godly leadership before turning back to false gods. The parallels are striking and humbling. Just as God allowed Israel to experience the natural consequences of their choices until they genuinely repented, I felt the physical manifestation of my spiritual wandering through severe back spasms that literally brought me to my knees. If you're feeling abandoned, remember—God hasn't left you. Perhaps it's time to examine who actually walked away? ABOUT THIS SHOW
Jessi Morgan in 2023 had a traumatic experience that shaped how she views life and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
