Ep. 64: Using Astrology to Make Better Business Decisions with KJ Atlas

What if your birth chart could actually help you run your business? In this episode, we’re sitting down with consulting astrologer KJ Atlas to talk about the intersection of astrology and entrepreneurship and how it can be used as a practical tool, not just a personality test. We get into how astrology works, why it’s more about patterns and timing than predictions, and how understanding your chart can help you make more aligned decisions in your business. A little about KJ. KJ Atlas is a certified consulting astrologer and astrocartographer based in Southern California. She works primarily with celebrity, entrepreneurial, and corporate clients, offering expertise in business and travel advice, relationship compatibility, and lifestyle strategy. KJ blends ancient astrology with her background in behavioral health, psychology, and organizational strategy for Fortune 50 companies to provide personalized, transformative guidance to her thousands of clients. With over 13 years of experience, KJ studied and graduated from the Portland School of Astrology and holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from East Carolina University. She is known for her comforting and friendly demeanor, stunningly accurate predictions, and fun analogies that make complex astrology easy to understand. KJ also breaks down astrocartography (aka how different locations impact your energy and opportunities) and how your chart can reveal the kind of work, environment, and pace you’re actually meant for. If you’ve been feeling off, stuck, or like your business doesn’t quite fit you anymore, this conversation might give you a whole new way to look at it. Ep. 63: How To Reinvent Yourself Without Losing Your Identity with Liza Spirit

Hey Jabbers! On today's episode, we are chatting with Liza Spirit. Liza is a spiritual mentor, educator, and day trader whose work bridges the gap between inner alignment and real-world success. She helps people integrate spirituality, psychology, and financial growth to create a life that feels both meaningful and abundant. Throughout her life, Liza has reinvented herself multiple times, changing career paths more than four times in pursuit of work that truly fulfills her and allows her to reach her full potential. Her journey reflects a powerful message: you don’t have to choose just one identity to succeed. With over a decade of meditation practice, spirituality, and a background in communications and educational psychology, Liza teaches that success comes from alignment rather than fitting into societal labels. Through her mentorship, trading education, and spiritual guidance tools like numerology and meditation, she empowers people to embrace all parts of who they are and build a path that reflects their true selves. Her philosophy is simple: when you master your inner world, your outer world begins to transform. Reinventing yourself can feel exciting… and also deeply uncomfortable, especially when you’re worried about losing the parts of you that got you here in the first place. In this episode, Kari and Gabby sit down with Liza to talk about what it actually looks like to evolve your business and identity without abandoning who you are. Liza shares her personal journey of blending spirituality, finance, and personal growth and how she navigated big shifts without starting from scratch or burning everything down. If you’ve been feeling the pull to pivot, raise your prices, change your niche, or simply do things differently, this conversation will help you trust yourself through the process. We’re getting into alignment, identity, and the real-life practices that support growth that feels both grounded and expansive. If this episode hit home, share it with a fellow wedding pro who’s in their “pivot era.” And as always, come hang with us on Instagram for more real talk and behind-the-scenes.     Liza Spirit Website - https://lizaspirit.com/ Spirit Trading Community - https://lizaspirit.com/trading Meditation and Mindfulness Resources - https://lizaspirit.com/meditations   Liza's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/liza.spirit    Youtube Video Ted Talk Liza Referenced: https://youtu.be/4sZdcB6bjI8?si=mo8p9N0uAPmV1aza  ---- Just Another Biz Podcast Info:  Website: https://justanotherbizpodcast.com/  Join Us on Substack for More Content: https://justanotherbizpodcast.substack.com/  Instagram for the Pod: https://www.instagram.com/justanotherbizpodcast  Instagram for Kari: https://www.instagram.com/featheredarrowstudio/  Instagram for Gabby : https://www.instagram.com/causewecanevents

Ep. 62: Pricing Transparency: Should You Put Your Rates on Your Website?

Hey Jabbers! In this week’s episode of Just Another Biz Podcast, we’re diving into the very real (and very debated) topic of pricing transparency in the wedding industry. However, there is a twist: Gabby and Kari don’t actually do it the same way. One of us shares pricing openly on their website, while the other has intentionally moved away from it. And honestly? We both have solid reasons. In this conversation, we’re breaking down what led us to these decisions, how it might impact our inquiries and bookings, and what we're learned about client behavior along the way. Because the truth is, pricing transparency isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s about aligning your strategy with your business, your market, and the kind of clients you want to attract. If you’ve been going back and forth on whether to list your pricing (or you’re thinking about changing your approach), this episode will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what it actually looks like in practice. Key Takeaways: Why one of us keeps pricing on our website and how it helps pre-qualify inquiries Why the other removed pricing and what she's seeing now The pros and cons of both approaches based on real experience (not just theory) How pricing visibility affects client trust, expectations, and inquiry quality Different ways to share pricing without locking yourself into one rigid structure Questions to ask yourself before deciding what’s right for your business We know there is a lot of debate around this topic and we do think a starting price point is helpful for potential clients and budgeting information listed on your website so no one is wasting their time on either end. However, we'd love to hear from you! What do you do and why? Shoot us a message or DM and give us the insights on pricing transparency for you!    Just Another Biz Podcast Info:  Website: https://justanotherbizpodcast.com/  Join Us on Substack for More Content: https://justanotherbizpodcast.substack.com/  Instagram for the Pod: https://www.instagram.com/justanotherbizpodcast  Instagram for Kari: https://www.instagram.com/featheredarrowstudio/  Instagram for Gabby : https://www.instagram.com/causewecanevents

Ep. 61: You’re Not Their Therapist... But You Kind of Are With Jen Ottman

Hey Jabbers! Ever feel like you’re not just planning a wedding… you’re also managing emotions, family drama, and late-night spiral texts as the planner or the wedding vendor?    In this episode of Just Another Biz Podcast, we’re joined by Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Jen Ottman. Jen is a California-based therapist who works with individuals and couples navigating relationship stress, communication challenges, and major life transitions. She helps people understand the emotional patterns that shape their relationships and approach difficult moments with more awareness and intention.   After recently planning her own wedding, Jen developed a deeper appreciation for how weddings can bring up family dynamics, expectations, and stress in ways couples don’t always anticipate. She helps couples approach these moments with curiosity and honesty while protecting the relationship, not just the event.   Today we are talking about something so many wedding pros experience but don’t always name: becoming the default therapist for your clients. From navigating high-stress family dynamics to holding space for overwhelmed couples, it’s easy for planners to slip into an emotional support role, often without the tools or boundaries to protect themselves.   Jen helps us unpack why this happens, how to recognize when you’ve crossed into therapist territory, and what it actually looks like to support your clients without overextending yourself. We’re getting into boundaries, emotional labor, and how to stay compassionate without burning out or blurring professional lines.   If you’ve ever walked away from a client call feeling drained, responsible for their emotions, or unsure how to respond to something deeply personal, this episode is for you. Key Points Why wedding planners are especially vulnerable to becoming “default therapists” for clients The difference between being supportive vs. taking on emotional responsibility Subtle signs you’ve crossed from planner into therapist territory How to set and communicate boundaries without feeling cold or unhelpful Simple language you can use in real client situations (without overstepping) How emotional labor shows up in your business and how to manage it sustainably Why protecting your energy actually makes you a better planner   So be sure to share this with a planner friend who’s been doing way more than timelines lately. We hope this episode resonates with you Jabbers!   You can find Jen at https://jenottmantherapy.com/ and work with her yourself or refer any clients needing pre-marital counseling. Ep. 60: Gen Z Weddings Are Here: Breaking Down the Zola 2026 First Look Report

Every year, the Zola First Look Report gives us a peek at what engaged couples are planning and what trends are shaping the wedding industry. In this episode, Kari and Gabby dig into the 2026 report and share what actually matters for planners, vendors, and anyone working weddings. Zola surveyed more than 11,500 couples getting married in 2026, making it one of the biggest snapshots of how modern couples are planning their weddings right now. From the rise of Gen Z couples to TikTok’s growing influence on wedding planning, the report highlights some major shifts in how couples choose vendors, design their celebrations, and prioritize guest experience. We talk about what trends we’re seeing in real weddings, what feels overhyped, and what planners should actually pay attention to heading into the next few seasons. Spoiler: couples want weddings that feel personal, authentic, and meaningful, not just Pinterest-perfect.   Key Points:  Gen Z is now the majority of engaged couples, which means wedding expectations and traditions are evolving. TikTok and social media are shaping planning decisions, with about half of couples using TikTok for inspiration while Pinterest remains the biggest planning platform. Vintage-inspired décor and nostalgic details are trending, but with modern twists. Couples are prioritizing guest experience and personalization over strict traditions. Mocktails and more inclusive drink menus are becoming common additions to bar programs. Couples are mixing traditional moments with modern planning tools, including AI for logistics and social-first content. If you’re a wedding planner or vendor trying to keep up with how couples are planning right now and needing to shift your business to serve Gen Z couples, then this episode is for you. Ep. 59: The Truth About Being a Type B Wedding Planner

Are you a Type A wedding planner… or more of a Type B vibe? In this episode of Just Another Biz Podcast, Kari and Gabby get real about something that doesn’t get talked about enough in the events industry: not every successful planner is Type A. As two proud Type B planners, who recently discovered this, we break down what that actually looks like in real life. From running timelines and managing vendors to keeping calm when the unexpected happens, we talk about how different personalities show up in wedding planning and why there’s absolutely room for both styles in this industry. If you’ve ever felt like you’re “not Type A enough” to be a planner, this episode is your reminder that being organized doesn’t have to mean being rigid. Sometimes a little flexibility, creativity, and calm energy is exactly what a wedding day needs. Type B doesn’t mean disorganized. Many Type B planners are extremely capable, they just approach structure and problem solving differently. Calm energy can be a superpower on wedding days. Staying flexible and level-headed when things shift is often what keeps events running smoothly. There’s no single personality type that makes a great planner. The industry has space for many styles of leadership and workflow. Your planning style will naturally shape your systems. The key is building processes that support how you actually work. Comparison is unnecessary. Just because someone runs their business differently doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. If this episode made you feel seen, make sure you follow, subscribe, and share it with another wedding planner who might need this reminder. And if you’re listening and thinking, “Wait… am I a Type B planner too?” — come tell us over on Instagram. Ep. 58: How To Find Your Client Archetype That Will Make You More Money With Emily Foster

What if the reason your marketing feels vague… is because your “ideal client” is? In this episode, we’re joined by Emily of Emily Foster Creative to talk about finding and defining your ideal client archetypes not just surface-level demographics, but the deeper motivations, values, and decision-making styles that actually drive bookings. We get into why just branding yourself as a "wedding planner for Austin locals" isn’t enough. It's about how to spot patterns in your past clients, and understanding how archetypes can make your website, content, and consult calls feel way more aligned (and way less performative). If you’ve ever thought, “I just want more of the right clients,” this one’s for you. Your ideal client is about psychographics, not just aesthetics, think values, fears, and priorities and why they are motivated to do something.  Client archetypes help you write copy that actually resonates (instead of trying to please everyone). You probably already have archetype patterns hiding in your past bookings. Clear positioning makes consult calls smoother because clients already feel understood. When you market to “everyone,” you dilute your message, clarity attracts the right ones and repels the wrong clients.  It’s okay if your ideal client evolves as your business grows.   If this episode made you rethink your messaging, take a screenshot while you’re listening and tag us on Instagram. Make sure you’re following the podcast so you never miss an episode and share this one with a wedding pro friend who’s tired of “meh” inquiries and ready for aligned ones. Ep. 57: Networking Without the Ick: How to Build Real Vendor Relationships In The Wedding Industry with Renée Lemaire

Hey Jabbers!  We're back with another episode and this week we're chatting with Renée Lemaire , an award-winning wedding photographer known for her timeless, editorial style and her gift for capturing the quiet, meaningful moments that define a wedding day. With nearly two decades in the industry, she has built a reputation for creating an experience that feels calm, connected, and deeply personal for every couple she serves. Beyond her work behind the camera, Renée is a passionate community builder in the wedding space. She founded the WIPA Cleveland chapter to bring vendors together, champion collaboration, and create a more supportive, values-driven industry. She is also the founder of Artfully Aligned, a coaching and education platform for creative entrepreneurs focused on intentional growth, sustainable success, and building businesses that truly support the lives behind them. Through her leadership and her artistry, Renée is dedicated to elevating both the wedding experience and the creative community she loves.   Renée breaks down how to network the "right way" and to avoid all the pressure when at an event. We touch on:  How to build a trust based relationship versus just a transactional relationship at a networking event.  How to kick off a conversation at a networking event.  To remind yourself that most people don't know each other at an event, so don't by shy to introduce yourself.  Renee reminds us that all good relationships take time, so don't rush or force relationships.  A reminder that you can be friends with other vendors who do the same thing as you, actually it's pretty valuable. They're not just competition, they're valuable friendships.  Not every relationship has to have a dollar sign attached to it, there are a lot of ways a relationship can be valuable beyond a monetary value.  This episode will give you the confidence to go out and network and actually be excited about doing it. Renée also share's her new business venture, Artfully Aligned, and you can find all the information below on how you can work with her.    We hope you enjoy this week's episode and we'll see you next Thursday. Ep. 56: “Marry Me” Energy: The Green Flags We Love in Vendors & Clients

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and instead of talking about love stories… we’re talking about the real relationships that shape your wedding business, your vendors and clients. In this episode of Just Another Biz Podcast, we’re sharing our favorite green flags: the subtle (and not-so-subtle) behaviors that instantly make us feel at ease on a wedding day or during the booking process. From vendors who actually read the timeline to clients who trust your expertise, these are the things that make us think, “Okay. This is going to be good.” And maybe even give you those butterflies.  If you’ve ever felt the difference between a smooth, collaborative experience and one that drains your energy… this one’s for you. Think of it as a Valentine’s love letter to professionalism, boundaries, and mutual respect in the wedding industry. If this episode made you nod along, laugh, or rethink how you show up in your vendor relationships, make sure you’re subscribed so you never miss an episode. Ep. 55: How To Bounce Back When A Client Chooses A Competitor

Hey Jabbers! We're back with another episode and this is a good one!  Look, getting the “we decided to go in a different direction” email from a potential client can hit harder than we want to admit. In this episode, we’re talking about how to bounce back when a potential client chooses a competitor without spiraling, slashing your prices, or questioning your entire business. We talk about how to take a step back and evaluate what’s actually happening: your marketing, your messaging, and yes, sometimes your pricing while also reminding you that every "no" creates space for another "yes!". Not every inquiry is meant to convert, and rejection isn’t always a reflection of your talent or value. This conversation is about resilience, clarity, and using those moments as data instead of discouragement especially if you’re noticing a pattern of misaligned inquiries. In this episode, we cover: Why client “no’s” aren’t always about you How to evaluate your marketing and messaging without panic When (and when not) to revisit your pricing How to tell the difference between misalignment and a real issue Why leaving space for the right yes matters If you’ve been feeling discouraged after a few passes, this episode is your reminder to breathe, zoom out, and keep going. You've got this!    In this episode we also mention Maria Bayer's sales course for wedding pros which Gabby and Kari are both alumni of and we highly recommend if you want to up your sales game and start booking big clients! Ep. 54: Building a Wedding Business That Supports Other Wedding Pros with Jordan Dukehart

Hey Jabbers! We're back with a fun episode with Jordan Dukehart of Duke Concierge.  What if building your wedding business could also make the entire vendor community stronger? In this episode we’re sitting down with Jordan, founder of Duke Concierge, where she helps other wedding planners run their business and their wedding days. She's basically a right hand lady to many wedding pros. She talks about about what it really looks like to build a wedding business rooted in collaboration, not competition and how to help serve others so they can be successful as well.  Jordan shares how she’s intentionally created systems, partnerships, and boundaries that support other wedding pros while still protecting her time, energy, and profitability. We dig into the mindset shift from “everyone’s my competition” to “how can we all win,” plus the behind-the-scenes decisions that help foster trust, referrals, and long-term relationships in the wedding industry. If you’re a wedding planner who’s tired of doing everything yourself from timelines and checklists to being in ten places at once on a wedding day, Jordan’s approach will hit home. We talk about how Duke Concierge supports planners behind the scenes with day-of assistance and backend systems, so you can elevate your client experience and reclaim your time. Because being a great planner doesn’t mean you have to be exhausted to prove it. ---  You can reach out to Jordan to work with her via her Instagram and she is located in Nashville Tennesse.  https://www.instagram.com/dukeconcierge   Just Another Biz Podcast Info:  Website: https://justanotherbizpodcast.com/  Join Us on Substack for More Content: https://justanotherbizpodcast.substack.com/  Instagram for the Pod: https://www.instagram.com/justanotherbizpodcast  Instagram for Kari: https://www.instagram.com/featheredarrowstudio/  Instagram for Gabby : https://www.instagram.com/causewecanevents

Ep. 53: Why Wedding Pros Are Choosing Workshops Over Courses in 2026

Kari and Gabby were finally in the same room to record this episode so it's a bit spicier and maybe a bit more chaotic than normal. However, we dive into why we think wedding pros are choosing in person workshops/conferences over digital courses. People are burnt out from constantly sitting in front of a screen or having to find the time to go through a 12 module course and then implement it. Wedding pros want real in person connection and to feel inspired and motivated through conversations with other wedding pros.  Of course, this is what we're seeing and all our opinions but we'd love to hear from you guys on what you're seeing or what you're choosing for yourself? Are pros choosing to do in person conferences/workshops or more digital courses?  --- Just Another Biz Podcast Info:  Website: https://justanotherbizpodcast.com/  Join Us on Substack for More Content: https://justanotherbizpodcast.substack.com/  Instagram for the Pod: https://www.instagram.com/justanotherbizpodcast  Instagram for Kari: https://www.instagram.com/featheredarrowstudio/  Instagram for Gabby : https://www.instagram.com/causewecanevents

Ep. 52: Manifesting Your Dream Life and Business with Khloe Jackson from W Events

What does manifestation actually look like when you run a real wedding planning business, not just a Pinterest vision board? In this episode we sit down with Khloe Jackson, founder of W Events, to talk about manifesting goals and backing them up with aligned action. We get into how manifestation plays out in real life as a business owner from setting intentional goals, to trusting yourself enough to outsource, to letting go of control so your business can actually grow. Ep. 50: How To Have Multiple Revenue Streams And Why That Is Good For Business With Loni Peterson

We're wrapping up 2025 with a big, honest business convo and we feel like this is a perfect episode for all our jabbers to end the year! In our final episode of the year, we’re sitting down with Loni Peterson of LP Creative Events to talk about multiple revenue streams and why it's good for business. She talks about what actually works, what sounds good on Instagram but flops in real life, and why research + testing matters way more than rushing to launch the next shiny idea. Loni breaks down how she’s approached adding income streams to her business strategically, without burning out or throwing money at ideas that weren’t ready. We talk through common mistakes wedding planners make when diversifying, how to validate an idea before investing time or cash, and how to think long-term instead of chasing quick wins. If you’ve ever thought, “I should add another income stream… but I don’t know where to start,” this episode is your permission slip to slow down, get curious, and build smarter. Key Takeaways: Why not every revenue stream is right for every season of business How to research and test ideas before fully launching them Common traps planners fall into when diversifying income What sustainable growth actually looks like behind the scenes How to make decisions based on data, not panic or comparison Whether you’re planning for 2026, feeling the slow-season spiral, or just craving a smarter way to grow, this one’s for you. Plus Loni is a professor at CU Boulder and has a lot of wisdom and insights to share. So listen up class!  Listen to the latest and final 2025 episode of Just Another Biz Podcast wherever you get your podcasts and thank you for being part of our 2025. It's been a great year!    Stay tuned for 2026 as we bring you weekly episodes full of great content! Ep. 49: What to Do in Slow Season as a Wedding Vendor (Without Spiraling)

Hey Jabbers! This week Gabby and Kari are chatting about slow seasons in our business. Look, slow season gets a bad rap, but it’s actually one of the most valuable chapters in your wedding planning business every year. In this episode, we unpack the mindset shifts that help you move from panic to intentionality when inquiries slow down. Instead of assuming something is “wrong,” we talk through the backend tasks that finally get breathing room, systems, workflows, templates, boundaries, and all the unsexy-but-essential things that make busy season easier. We also get real about rest: why it is productive, why hobbies make you a better planner, and why outsourcing isn’t a weakness, it’s a strategic choice. Slow season is also a chance to check in with yourself and pivot toward what actually feels aligned in your business, whether that’s changing your packages, refining your niche, or letting go of offerings that no longer fit. Kari dives into how she's figuring out a business pivot even without having full clarity.  If you’ve ever spiraled during quiet months, this episode will help you feel grounded, supported, and clear on what really matters and hopefully make you feel less alone in these tough seasons.  Enjoy!  ---- Website: https://justanotherbizpodcast.com/  Join Us on Substack for More Content: https://justanotherbizpodcast.substack.com/  Instagram for the Pod: https://www.instagram.com/justanotherbizpodcast  Instagram for Kari: https://www.instagram.com/featheredarrowstudio/  Instagram for Gabby : https://www.instagram.com/causewecanevents

Ep. 27: Buying a Wedding Venue with Bec and Kelly from Mint Springs Farm

Welcome back for another episode of Just Another Biz Podcast! Today Kari and Gabby are chatting with the owners of Mint Springs Farm, a wedding venue just outside of Nashville that Bec and Kelly recently acquired. We know a lot of wedding pros think about venue ownership as the logical next step in their wedding career so we thought we would ask these gals all about their experience. Before we dive in, let us tell you a little about our guests today: Bec Broaddus was literally born into events—her dad was working an event when her mom went into labor! A Nashville native, she spent 12 years at G Catering, managing over 3,000 events and a staff of 150. From weddings to music award shows, Bec has done it all. She loves designing events, staying organized, and unwinding at Orange Theory. Fun fact: she was in the Hannah Montana movie! Her drink of choice? A bourbon neat or French 75. Kelly got her start in events at 18, working high-profile Cape Cod weddings, including for the Kennedy family. With a Hospitality Event Management degree, she set her sights on major cities and moved to Nashville in 2015. Since then, she’s worked on over 350 weddings, plus A-list events like the CMA Artist of the Year Awards. Now a business owner and new mom, Kelly loves hot yoga, New England sports, and a good glass of wine.   Thanks for tuning into today as we chat with Bec and Kelly about their story, how they acquired Mint Springs Farm and their why for running their wedding venue. You can find them on Instagram @mintspringsfarm or on their website to connect! Ep. 24: Streamlining Your Wedding Biz with Plann Well with Adriel Nutter

Hey Jabbers welcome to season 2 of Just Another Biz Podcast! This season we’re diving into sales, marketing, strategy and even health tips for all you wedding pros out there. We’re so grateful that you’ve been a part of our first year of podcasting and have loved seeing the reviews and feedback so far. As always please let us know what you want to hear more of and how we can make this podcast even better in season 2 and beyond   Now to today’s episode with our special guest Adriel Nutter from Plann Well. More about Plann Well below:  Solely for Event Professionals: This website/platform is a resource for wedding/event professionals to come together in a space where they can share information and leave reviews, etc. that they may otherwise not want to give potential couples access to! Vendor to Vendor Reviews: This builds rapport among vendors and promotes relationships among wedding markets. Real-Time Availability Calendars: Most vendors are unwilling to share their availability calendars with potential couples but, when polled, all vendors were willing to share their availability with Planners and other fellow vendors. This allows Planners, or other event pros. to search by date for vendors eliminating the time consuming back and forth of "Are you available?" emails and the overall lag time waiting for responses. This also eliminates the wasted time of vendors receiving inquiries for dates they are already booked. Most importantly, this generates business for small businesses with small marketing budgets.  Affordable: PlannWell.com is completely free for Event Planners and priced below $40/month for all other Event Professionals.   With over 17 years of experience in the event industry, Adriel has done it all— from corporate events to non-profits and eventually breaking into the wedding world. She’s planned over 200 weddings and worked every angle of the industry, from catering and bartending to venue coordinating and even as a bride herself. A Texan at heart, now calling South Carolina home by way of Nashville, Adriel has seen the South in all its beautiful glory. Her passion for finding efficient systems led her to create Plann Well, a platform designed to save event planners and vendors time and help them focus on profitability instead of endless email chains. When she’s not busy planning events as the owner of Sutlan + Co., you can find her soaking up the sunshine, indulging in tacos, chocolate, and peaches, or dreaming of the Caribbean.   We hope you enjoy today's episode of season 2 of Just Another Biz Podcast and wedding pros, don't forget to check out Plann Well and get signed up today!
