The God who is Bigger than Big
What happens when we trade the God who made us for something we can see, control, and understand? Exodus 20:4–6 warns us not only against making physical idols, but against something much more subtle: making God into our own image. We want a God we can put in a box—a God whoagrees with us, makes us comfortable, and never challenges us. But the God of Scripture is infinitely greater than any version we could invent. He is both Lion and Lamb, holy and loving, majestic and near. And His jealousy is not the insecurity of a desperate God; it is the fierce love of a God who knows that nothing else can satisfy His people. In the end, the second commandment points us to Jesus, the true image of the invisible God, who came to shatter our false pictures of God and rescue us with His own blood. This sermon asks a simple but searching question: Will we worship the God who has revealed Himself, or will we keep worshiping a God we have made?

Welcomed by God
Before God gave Israel commands to obey, He reminded them of the grace they had already received: "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt." The Ten Commandments begin not with rules, but with redemption. Having rescued His people from slavery, God invites them into a life of freedom, trust, and covenant relationship. The first commandment calls us to reject every false god that promises life but ultimately enslaves us. As we discuss this passage together, we'll consider what competes for our worship today and how Jesus fulfills God's invitation by bringing us into the Father's household through the gospel.

InExodus 19, Israel stands trembling before Mount Sinai and discoversthat sincere intentions, religious effort, and even covenantprivileges are not enough to enter the presence of a holy God. Thismessage traces the story from Sinai to Zion, revealing that God hasalways provided the only way into His presence—a mediator. Ultimately, the sermon points to Jesus, the greater Moses, whose life, death, andresurrection open the way for sinners to draw near with confidence.Come discover why our hope rests not in ourselves, but in Christalone.

A Kingdom of Priests
Everyone longs to know who they are and why they are here. In Exodus19, God answers those questions by reminding His people of what He hasdone before telling them what they are to do. Israel is God'streasured possession, called to be a kingdom of priests and a holynation. This sermon follows that identity through Jesus Christ, thetrue High Priest, who gives His church the same mission: know God,treasure Him, and make Him known.
