Eastern redcedar is native to Kansas, but what happens when a native tree becomes too much of a good thing? In this episode, we talk with Dave Bruton of the Kansas Forest Service, Sheena Parsons, Station Manager, KUField Station, and Jeannette Blackmar of the Lumberyard Arts Center about the Ode to Eastern Redcedar project. They explore the challenges eastern redcedar can create for Kansas woodlands, the restoration work at Rice Woodlands and Baldwin Woods, and how trees removed for conservation were given a second life through milling and community art.
