Episode 7: Kate Bush songs about Womanhood
Yes, Kate Bush is a woman and in a few songs, she has shared some of her personal ideas on womanhood. From the youthful exuberance of 'Room for the Life', with its exhortations that women are 'built tough' to the sensitive honesty of 'This Woman's Work', we can get some impression of how Kate's thoughts have changed over time. Welcome.

Episode 6: Kate Bush songs about important social and political issues
What do people expect from a Kate Bush song? Soaring melodies? Mythical creatures? Fantasy? So I've heard, but in fact much of Kate Bush's music is heavily rooted in the here and now. Many of her songs deal with critically important issues which pertain to the world today, such as war, dispossession of indigenous peoples and homophobia. But unlike more overtly political or activist musicians, Kate doesn't write songs with an obvious position or political angle. Instead she inhabits the emotional world of someone in a particular situation - and invites we the listeners, to understand. In this episode, we discuss some of these wonderful songs, such as The Dreaming, Pull Out the Pin and Kashka from Baghdad. Feedback is welcome at www.katebushradioshow.wordpress.com All song Copyright belongs to Kate Bush.

Episode 5: Kate Bush songs about sexual love (Licenses with APRA pending)
Kate doesn't shy away from singing about the most intimate subject matter - eros, passion, sexual love. But she has a way of discussing sex which is unusual in our modern music world. This isn't sex as power or objectification. This is sex as passion, connection and joy. In this episode, we discuss songs such as 'L'Amour Looks Something like you' and 'Misty'. Thanks for connecting. :) Feedback welcome at www.katebushradioshow.wordpress.com

Episode 4: Kate Bush songs about existential questions and self knowledge (Licences with APRA pending)
We all ask ourselves the deep questions. And we may look for answers in faith, in travel, in self analysis or great philosophers or dreams. Kate is no different, but unlike most of us, she has shared her explorations with her listeners, through song. So, in this episode, we attempt to understand some of Kate's most opaque songs, such as 'Sat in your Lap' and 'Fullhouse'. These are songs which embrace multiple meanings, and like life - that is half the fun. Feedback welcome at www.katebushradioshow.wordpress.com
